All the Mods 10 8.3 ships version 1.6.4 · First seen in 0.32
Apothic Enchanting is a mod in All the Mods 10 8.3, where it is version 1.6.4. A huge extension of the Enchanting system (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)
Stuck? Why it might not be working
- Apothic Enchanting: eterna stops short, and every slot says Limited EnchantabilityTwo separate things cap eterna in All the Mods 10 8.2: your World Tier sets a personal Max Eterna, and each enchanting shelf has its own eterna ceiling, so a wall of one shelf type stalls below 100 whatever your tier. "Limited Enchantability" is a different problem: it means the table had no enchantment to offer that slot, and it is not about the item's enchantability number.Written for other versions than All the Mods 10 8.3 ships. Some steps may no longer match.
- Why arcana is not going upIn All the Mods 10 8.2, Apothic Enchanting 1.6.2, arcana has no ceiling of its own. A wall of vanilla bookshelves gives exactly 0. The item in the slot does not add any: that line was removed in 1.6.1, and this pack ships 1.6.2. A Brass Bookshelf config of 0.25 is a maximum of 25 on the 0 to 100 scale, not a multiplier. Arcana changes which enchantments you roll and how many are guaranteed. It does not raise the level.Written for other versions than All the Mods 10 8.3 ships. Some steps may no longer match.

What is Apothic Enchanting?
2 parts
Apothic Enchanting is the mod that overhauls vanilla enchanting in All the Mods 10 8.1. This pack runs version 1.6.1, and the mod has been in the pack since version 2.25 or earlier.[1]
The quick summary is that the old 15-bookshelf setup is no longer enough. There are new bookshelves to build and new things you can do with the enchanting table, including the upgraded Apothic Enchanting Table.[2]
Everything the table offers comes down to three stats: Eterna, Quanta and Arcana. Arcana gives you more enchantments per item and makes rare ones more common. Quanta shakes up the enchantment pool, but it also makes weaker enchantments more likely. The Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability removes that downside. You can check the current pool by clicking the ? in the top right of the table's screen while an item is being enchanted.[2]
More than just better enchants
- Infusing: the table can transform items. For example, it turns an Inert Trident into a real Trident.[2]
- Storage: the Enchantment Library stores your enchanted books as points, and you can pull them back out level by level.[2]
- Mob handling: Ender Leads let you pick up mobs, starting with the fragile Flimsy Ender Lead, which only holds animals and breaks after 8 uses.[2]
- Spawners: the Occult Ender Lead can bind mobs to spawners.[3]
Where it fits in the pack
The mod has its own quest chapter, which starts at "Apothic Enchanting" quest. From there you work up through "Hellshelves" quest for Quanta and "Seashelves" quest for Arcana, and then on to the infused shelves.[2]
The mod is also part of the ATM Star path. The Chapter 3 quest "Infused Dragon's Breath" quest asks for Infused Dragon's Breath, which you make by infusing Dragon's Breath. For that infusion the quest suggests a table surrounded by 2 Soul-Touched Sculkshelves, 3 Heart-Forged Seashelves, 8 normal bookshelves and 1 Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability. The quest also hints that this item is used in other recipes, so plan on building those shelves if you're going for the Star.[4]
How do you get started with Apothic Enchanting?
4 parts
Your enchanting journey starts with the "Apothic Enchanting" quest quest, which only asks for an Enchanting Table or an Apothic Enchanting Table. Enchanting works differently in this pack, and the quest warns that 15 Bookshelves won't be enough anymore. There are new shelves to build and new things you can do at the table.[2]
The Apothic Enchanting Table is a cosmetic variant of the regular table, so a vanilla table works fine to get going. If you want the fancy one, note that the pack changed its recipe.[5][6]

Know your three stats
Your enchantments now depend on three stats: Eterna, Quanta and Arcana. The shelves around your table decide how much of each you have.[2]
- Eterna sets your maximum enchanting level.[6]
- Quanta adds randomness and mixes up the enchantment pool. The more you have, the more common weaker enchantments get. It starts at 15% and maxes out at 100%.[2][6]
- Arcana makes rare enchantments more common and increases how many enchantments you get. It starts at 0% and maxes out at 100%.[2][6]
Pick your first shelves
Next you pick a route: Hellshelf if you're heading into the Nether, or Seashelf if you'd rather sail the sea. Both give 3 Eterna. Hellshelves add 3% Quanta and Seashelves add 3% Arcana, so either one beats a normal shelf.[2]
Aim for 16 of your chosen shelf: 15 to place around the table and 1 to keep in your inventory for infusing. The "Hellshelves" quest and "Seashelves" quest quests only ask you to make 11 and give you the other 5 as a reward.[2]

Your first infusion
With 15 Hellshelves around your table you'll have 45 Eterna and 30% Quanta, which is exactly right for infusing a Hellshelf. An Infused Hellshelf gives 5 Eterna (up to a max of 60) and 5% Quanta. The "Infused Hellshelves" quest quest points you toward 13 of them but only asks you to collect 8.[2]
Infusion (apothic_enchanting)
Recipe id: apothic_enchanting:infusion/infused_hellshelf
The Seashelf route works the same way. Surround the table with 15 Seashelves and infuse your last one. An Infused Seashelf gives 5 Eterna (up to a max of 60) and 5% Arcana. The "Infused Seashelf" quest quest has you craft 8 and rewards you the rest of the 12 you'll want later.[2]

Tame your Quanta
Quanta can work against you by making weaker enchantments more likely. The Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability removes those increased chances of worse enchantments, so it's worth adding to your setup early.[2]

How does Apothic Enchanting work?
6 parts
Apothic Enchanting rebuilds how the enchanting table works. Your table can now go past 30 levels, and some enchantments only show up once you're beyond level 30. The mod's advancements track enchanting at level 30, 60, 80 and all the way up to 100, so there's a long ladder to climb.[6]
The three enchanting stats
Instead of just counting bookshelves, the table works with three core stats. Here's what each one does:[6]
- Eterna sets your maximum enchanting level. The table shows your current value against a maximum, and there's a cap on how much Eterna you can use in an Enchanting Table.[6]
- Arcana makes rare enchantments more common and increases the number of enchantments you get. There are advancements for enchanting at 50% and 100% Arcana.[6]
- Quanta increases the underlying randomness of your results. There are advancements for enchanting at 0%, 50% and 100% Quanta.[6]
Shelves show what they contribute in their tooltips. You'll see lines like how much Eterna a shelf adds and the maximum it can push you to, how many Enchanting Clues it grants, and whether it allows Treasure Enchantments. Quanta-related tooltips can also show a Growth Potential and a Reduction Potential.[6]
Some blocks provide Quantic Stability, and the mod treats stable enchanting as an endgame goal. One advancement asks you to enchant with max Eterna and Arcana but 0% Quanta, and another asks you to enchant with max stats plus Quantic Stability. There's also a milestone for enchanting with at least 10 of each stat, which is a good early target.[6]
The table also gives you more information than vanilla. Enchanting Clues reveal part of what you're about to get. The messages range from "The Runes Reveal Nothing" to "The Runes Reveal All", and you can open a view of all available enchantments. Tooltips also show an item's enchantability, any enchantability bonus, and the raw XP cost of an enchant alongside its level cost.[6]
Enchanting tables
The Apothic Enchanting Table is a cosmetic variant of the Enchanting Table. It doesn't do anything extra, it just looks different. All the Mods 10 changed its recipe, so check the in-pack version below.[5][6]

Infusion and shelf progression
Some blocks can't simply be crafted. You get them through Infusion Enchanting, which the mod describes as enchantment crafting. The Infused Hellshelf and Infused Seashelf are both obtained this way. Requirement tooltips can ask for at least, no more than, or exactly a certain stat value. If your setup doesn't match, you'll see "Infusion Criteria Not Met".[6]
Once you have infused shelves, you can upgrade them further on a crafting table. An Infused Hellshelf becomes a Blazing Hellshelf or a Glowing Hellshelf. An Infused Seashelf becomes a Crystalline Seashelf, a Heart-Forged Seashelf or a Seashelf of Aquatic Filtration.[5][6]
There are two more upgrade lines. For the End line, you need Infused Dragon's Breath to make an Endshelf, which you can then upgrade into a Draconic Endshelf. For the deep line, you craft a Dormant Deepshelf that has to be activated. From there, a Deepshelf upgrades into an Echoing Deepshelf and finally an Echoing Sculkshelf, which needs a Warden Tendril.[5][6]

Unverified The sources don't explain how a Dormant Deepshelf is activated, how Infused Dragon's Breath is obtained, or the exact stat values each shelf provides in this pack. Check the in-game tooltips for those.
Filtering and storage
The Seashelf of Aquatic Filtration gives you control over your results. Insert enchanted books into it, and those enchantments are prevented from appearing in the table. It also gains Eterna and Arcana based on how many books you've inserted, so filtering doesn't cost you stats.[6]

The Enchantment Library is a block that stores enchantments. Insert an enchanted book and its enchantments are deposited. Left-click a stored enchantment to extract one level of it, or shift-click to extract the max level available. Its tooltip shows how many enchantments are stored, the points stored against the limit, and the max level you can currently pull out.[6]

Tomes and enchantment recycling
Tomes act like targeted enchanting items. Each one accepts one category of enchantments:[6]
- Tome of Helmets: helmet enchantments[6]
- Tome of Chestplates: chestplate enchantments[6]
- Tome of Legplates: legplate enchantments[6]
- Tome of Boots: boot enchantments[6]
- Tome of the Archers: bow enchantments[6]
- Tome of the Fishers: fishing pole enchantments[6]
- Tome of the Others: miscellaneous enchantments[6]
There are several ways to recover enchantments from gear you don't want:[6]
- Three extraction tomes pull enchantments off items. One extracts half of them and destroys the item. A better version extracts all of them and still destroys the item. The best one extracts everything without destroying the item.[6]
- An Altar of the Seas turns unwanted enchanted items into a new book.[6]
- An anvil enchanted with Splitting can be dropped on an enchanted book to split it apart.[6]
- A Prismatic Cobweb can be used to remove curses.[6]
Ender leads
The mod also adds Ender Leads for moving mobs. The Flimsy Ender Lead can capture and move animals, and its recipe was changed by the pack. A stronger Ender Lead can capture most entities, and an Occult Ender Lead can also bind them to Mob Spawners.[5][6]

How do you progress through Apothic Enchanting?
8 parts
Enchanting in this pack works very differently from vanilla, and 15 regular bookshelves won't cut it anymore. The "Apothic Enchanting" quest quest kicks things off: grab either a vanilla enchanting table or the Apothic Enchanting Table. From there, every tier is about pushing three stats higher: Eterna, Quanta and Arcana.[2]
The pack changed the recipe for the Apothic Enchanting Table, so check the in-pack version below rather than an older guide.[5]

The three stats
- Arcana increases how many enchantments you get and makes rare ones more common. On a sword, for example, Smite is common but Looting is much rarer. Arcana starts at 0% and caps at 100%.[2]
- Quanta mixes up the enchantment pool so you see more variety. It can backfire, though: the more Quanta you have, the more common weaker enchantments get. Quanta starts at 15% and caps at 100%.[2]
- Eterna is the level stat. Each shelf tier raises the maximum Eterna you can reach, and that is what gates the later infusions.[2]
Tier 1: Hellshelves or Seashelves
Your first real choice is Nether or sea. The "Hellshelves" quest quest introduces the Hellshelf, which gives 3 Eterna and 3% Quanta. You'll want 16: 15 around the table and 1 to infuse. The quest only asks you to make 11 and hands you the last 5.[2]

If you'd rather skip the Nether, the "Seashelves" quest quest covers the Seashelf, which gives 3 Eterna and 3% Arcana. It's the same deal: 16 total, but you only collect 11 and the quest gives you the rest.[2]

Tier 2: Infused shelves
Fifteen Hellshelves around the table give you 45 Eterna and 30% Quanta, which is exactly what you need to infuse your spare Hellshelf. The Infused Hellshelf gives 5 Eterna with a max of 60, plus 5% Quanta. The "Infused Hellshelves" quest quest says you'll want 13 for the next shelves but only asks you to collect 8.[2]
Infusion (apothic_enchanting)

On the sea side, 15 Seashelves around the table let you infuse your last one. The Infused Seashelf gives 5 Eterna with a max of 60, plus 5% Arcana. You'll need 12 of them to make Crystalline Seashelves, and the "Infused Seashelf" quest quest rewards the rest once you craft 8.[2]
Infusion (apothic_enchanting)
Recipe id: apothic_enchanting:infusion/infused_seashelf
Next, upgrade your infused shelves by crafting. The Glowing Hellshelf keeps the same Eterna and Quanta and adds 3.3333% Arcana. The Crystalline Seashelf keeps 5 Eterna and 5% Arcana and adds 3% Quanta. Both paths build toward the same next step.[2]

There are side upgrades at this tier too. The Heart-Forged Seashelf is expensive but gives lots of Arcana, which helps with later infusions. The Blazing Hellshelf gives a bit of Quanta and Eterna but isn't the cheap option for infusions. The Hellshelf of Sight and Hellshelf of Masterful Sight give Enchanting Clues, each telling you 1 enchantment before you actually use it.[2]

Tier 3: Deepshelves
This is where the Hellshelf and Seashelf paths merge. Craft a Dormant Deepshelf, then infuse it at 60 Eterna, 40% Quanta and 40% Arcana. You can hit those values with either 12 Crystalline Seashelves or 13 Glowing Hellshelves. The pack also adds a Runic Enchanter recipe for this step.[2][5]

The Sculkshelves are crafting upgrades, not infusions, but getting there means killing the Warden for a Warden Tendril, and you'll want Silk Touch for the Deep Dark. The Soul-Touched Sculkshelf gives 10 Eterna, 15% Quanta and 10% Arcana. The Echoing Sculkshelf gives 10 Eterna, 10% Quanta and 15% Arcana. Both push max Eterna to 80.[2]

Tier 4: Endshelves
With max Eterna at 80, you can infuse Dragon's Breath. To collect it, stand in the pink mist the Ender Dragon breathes while perched and right-click with an empty bottle. The "Infused Dragon's Breath" quest quest suggests 4 Echoing Sculkshelves, 4 Soul-Touched Sculkshelves and 6 Geode-Encased Bookshelves of Stability, which gives 80 Eterna, 25% Quanta and 100% Arcana.[2]
The ATM Star quest "Infused Dragon's Breath" quest offers an alternative layout: 2 Soul-Touched Sculkshelves, 3 Heart-Forged Seashelves, 8 normal bookshelves and 1 Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability. The pack also adds a Runic Enchanter recipe and a changed Create filling recipe for Infused Dragon's Breath.[4][5]

- 5 Soul-Touched Sculkshelves and 5 Echoing Sculkshelves for all the Quanta and Arcana you need.[2]
- The Draconic Endshelf, for 100 Eterna in both amount and max level.[2]
- The Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability, so Quanta doesn't hand you bad enchantments.[2]

How does Apothic Enchanting work with other mods?

In All the Mods 10, Apothic Enchanting items show up in recipes well beyond the enchanting table. Most of these recipes were added or changed by the pack, so the ingame versions may differ from what you remember from other packs. Use the recipe blocks below to see the exact in-pack recipes.[5]
Infused Dragon's Breath is everywhere
If you only farm one Apothic item, make it Infused Dragon's Breath. The pack uses it in its endgame recipes: the Dragon Soul, the Miniature Exit Portal, the Thundering Spawner Upgrade Rune, a Gate Pearl from Apotheosis's tiered gateway recipe, and even the Patrick Star recipe in the Star Altar.[5]

It has pack-added recipes for Infused Dragon's Breath, the Infused Hellshelf, the Deepshelf, the Tome of Superior Scrapping and the Tome of Extraction. The quests point out overlaps with other mods too. The "Flimsy Ender Lead" quest quest reminds you that Soul Gems and Creature Catchers can also pick up mobs. The Flimsy Ender Lead is the cheap option: it only holds animals and breaks after 8 uses.[2]
The "Negative Enchantments Removal" quest quest notes that Budding Amethyst can't be mined, even with Silk Touch, so you'll need a Ritual or Infusion to get one.[2]
The Occult Ender Lead also appears as a quest task in the Apothic Spawners chapter.[3]
Which All the Mods 10 quests use Apothic Enchanting?
3 parts
Apothic Enchanting has its own full quest chapter in All the Mods 10, and it also shows up in four other chapters: Apothic Spawners, Chapter 3: The ATM Star, Chapter 4: Creative and Tips and Tricks. Here's how they fit together so you know what's coming next.[2][3][4][7][8]
The Apothic Enchanting chapter
Everything kicks off with "Apothic Enchanting" quest. It just asks for a vanilla enchanting table or an Apothic Enchanting Table. It also warns you that 15 Bookshelves won't be enough anymore, because this mod adds new shelves and new things your table can do.[2]
- After the Infusing quest, you pick a path. You can go the Nether route with "Hellshelves" quest and "Quanta" quest, or the sea route with "Seashelves" quest and "Arcana" quest. Either way you make 11 shelves and the quest rewards you the rest. "Negative Enchantments Removal" quest sits here too and asks for a Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability.[2]
- After The Frontier Calls, you infuse your shelves with "Infused Hellshelves" quest or "Infused Seashelf" quest. You collect 8 and get the rest as a reward.[2]
- Each path then branches out. The Hellshelf path leads to "Enchanting Clues" quest, "Blazing Hellshelf" quest and "Glowing Hellshelf" quest. The Seashelf path leads to "Remove Enchantments from Pool" quest, "Heart-Forged Seashelf" quest and "Crystalline Seashelf" quest.[2]
- After Ascent to 60, the two paths merge at "Deepshelf" quest. From there you go on to "Soul-Touched Deepshelf" quest and "Echoing Deepshelf" quest, then "Soul-Touched Sculkshelf" quest and "Echoing Sculkshelf" quest, which raise your max Eterna to 80.[2]
- After Ahh, Pinnacle, at last, you make "Infused Dragon's Breath" quest. That opens "Endshelves" quest, "Pearlescent Endshelf" quest and "Draconic Endshelf" quest, and the path ends with "Best Enchanting set-up" quest.[2]
- "Enchanting Table of the Raven" quest comes after God-Fused Pearl. This table lets you set Eterna, Quanta and Arcana without any shelves.[2]
Side branches
- Tomes: after the Tomes quest you get "Tool Tomes" quest, "Armor Tomes" quest, "Weapon Tomes" quest, "ETC. Tomes" quest and "Tome of Scrapping" quest.[2]
- Scrapping chain: "Tome of Scrapping" quest leads to "Tome of Superior Scrapping" quest, then to a quest in "Apothic Enchanting", which asks for the Tome of Extraction.[2]
- Leads: "Flimsy Ender Lead" quest leads to "Ender Lead" quest, then to "Occult Ender Lead" quest.[2]
- Storage: "Enchantment Library" quest leads to "Library of Alexandria" quest.[2]
- Extras: "Making a real Trident" quest asks for an Inert Trident. "Negative amounts" quest asks for the Beeshelf, Stoneshelf and Melonshelf.[2]
Other chapters
- Apothic Spawners: a quest in "Apothic Spawners" asks for the Occult Ender Lead, because it can bind mobs to Spawners. It points you back to the Apothic Enchanting chapter to get one.[3]
- Chapter 3: The ATM Star: "Infused Dragon's Breath" quest comes after Apothic Mods and asks for Infused Dragon's Breath. It suggests an infusion setup of 2 Soul-Touched Sculkshelves, 3 Heart-Forged Seashelves, 8 Normal Bookshelves and 1 Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability.[4]
- Chapter 4: Creative: a quest in "Chapter 4: Creative" comes after Runic Enchanter. It asks for Infused Dragon's Breath and Mending Books made through the Runic Enchanter.[7]
- Tips and Tricks: "Disenchanting Methods" quest accepts any of the three scrapping and extraction tomes, alongside disenchanting options from other mods.[8]
