What is Ender IO?

1 part

Ender IO is a full-featured tech mod. It adds armor, tools, weapons, machines, conduits, inventory management and mobs. The pack ships version 8.2.3-beta of it.[1][2]

Conduits are one big part of what Ender IO offers. The mod lists item, fluid, energy and redstone conduits, plus conduits for Applied Energistics 2 ME, Refined Storage and Mekanism chemicals.[1]

Ender IO is being rewritten from the ground up for modern Minecraft, so some features from older versions have not been ported yet. If you remember something from the 1.12.2 days and can't find it here, that may be why.[1]

Where it fits in the pack

Ender IO shows up on the ATM Star path in Chapter 4. Two of the quests there ask you to hand in an Vibrant Capacitor Bank (a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star") and a Sentient Ender (a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star").[3]

The mod also appears in several side chapters. Its alloy blocks are the second task in a whole set of Productive Bees quests. "Soularium Bee" quest, "Pulsating Alloy Bee" quest and "Vibrant Alloy Bee" quest are three of them, and each is marked "Made in Alloy Smelter". They ask for Soularium Block, Pulsating Alloy Block and Vibrant Alloy Block. "Bee Of Infinity" quest asks for Reinforced Obsidian.[4]

The rest of that Productive Bees set follows the same pattern, and each of these is also marked "Made in Alloy Smelter". "Conductive Alloy Bee" quest asks for Conductive Alloy Block, "Energetic Alloy Bee" quest for Energetic Alloy Block, "Redstone Alloy Bee" quest for Redstone Alloy Block, "Dark Steel Bee" quest for Dark Steel Block and "End Steel Bee" quest for End Steel Block. "Copper Alloy Bee" quest is the Copper Alloy Bee quest, which asks for a copper alloy block.[4]

In the Apothic Spawners chapter, a quest in "Apothic Spawners" introduces the Powered Spawner, Ender IO's version of the mob spawner. You place it, give it a Capacitor and power it. It can also fill Soul Vials directly, without a Clicker.[5]

Tip: The Yeta Wrench is one of the wrenches listed in the Industrial Foregoing chapter quest a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", which collects wrenches able to rotate Industrial Foregoing machines. Most wrenches can't rotate them, so it's handy to know. The quest says some wrenches might not work on every machine.[6]

How do you get started with Ender IO?

4 parts

Ender IO is a full-featured tech mod with machines, conduits, inventory management and more. In this pack, a few early crafts get you going, and this is the order I'd make them in.[1]

First, the Basic Capacitor

Start with the Basic Capacitor. Ender IO machines need a capacitor installed before they can work, and a machine without one tells you to insert one. If a machine ever stops, check its status tooltip. It also tells you when the problem is not enough power, no room for the output, or an empty input.[7][8]

Next, the Alloy Smelter

Build the Alloy Smelter next. The pack's Productive Bees chapter marks several alloy bees as "Made in Alloy Smelter". Their quests ask for alloy blocks such as the Soularium Block, Pulsating Alloy Block and Vibrant Alloy Block. "Soularium Bee" quest and "Pulsating Alloy Bee" quest are two examples.[4]

Then, a Capacitor Bank

After that, work towards a capacitor bank. The mod has an advancement for building one, and the Basic Capacitor Bank is the first tier.[7][8]

Tip: If the capacitor bank doesn't show connected textures, that is a client-side thing. The mod suggests installing Athena on your client.[7]

Finally, the Yeta Wrench

Last, craft the Yeta Wrench. The pack's Industrial Foregoing chapter has a quest, a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", that lists it among the wrenches able to rotate Industrial Foregoing machines. The quest was tested mainly on the Laser Drill, and some wrenches might not work with other machines.[6]

How does Ender IO work?

5 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide

The project page describes Ender IO as a full-featured tech mod with armor, tools, weapons, machines, conduits, inventory management and mobs. It also says the mod is being rewritten from the ground up for the latest version of Minecraft, so some features will not yet have been ported. Here is what the sources let me confirm about how it works in this pack.[1]

Conduits

Conduits are one of Ender IO's main features. The project page lists these conduit types: Item, Fluid, Energy, Redstone, Applied Energistics 2 ME, Refined Storage Conduit and Mekanism Chemicals. The same page says some features are not yet ported, so read that as the mod's feature list, not as a promise of what works in this pack.[1]

In the world, conduits show up as a single block called Conduit Bundle. The sources here do not describe how you configure its connections, so check the in-game behaviour yourself.[9]

Conduit Facades are a pack-specific detail. The pack changed the painting recipe for the Conduit Facade, so don't assume the mod's default.[10]

Machines and blocks you will meet

The mod's language file names a lot of machine blocks. Among them are the Alloy Smelter, Crafter, Enchanter, Farming Station, Painting Machine, Powered Spawner, Impulse Hopper, Block Detector, Fluid Tank, Pressurized Fluid Tank and Drain. There are also obelisks: Attractor, Aversion, Inhibitor and Relocator. The sources give names only, so I can't tell you what each one does or what it costs in power.[9]

Energy storage comes as the Basic Capacitor Bank and the Advanced Capacitor Bank. There is even an advancement that asks you to build a Capacitor Bank. The Basic Capacitor and Double-Layer Capacitor are separate items, and the Advanced Capacitor Bank is built from the Double-Layer Capacitor.[9][10]

Conductive alloy in this pack

The Conductive Alloy Block is a good example of the pack mixing mods together. The recipe that decompresses the AllTheCompressed version into Ender IO's block is marked as changed by the pack. So is a Productive Bees centrifuge recipe that yields a Conductive Alloy Nugget.[10]

How do you progress through Ender IO?

    4 parts

Ender IO in this pack doesn't come with one big questline that walks you tier by tier. What the pack's quests and recipes do show is a handful of checkpoints, and this section follows those. If you want a full ladder from first alloy to endgame, it isn't confirmed in the sources, so I won't invent one.[3][4][5]

Step 1: The Alloy Smelter and your alloys

The Productive Bees chapter is where the pack leans hardest on Ender IO alloys. Its quests for the Soularium, Pulsating Alloy, Vibrant Alloy, Copper Alloy, Conductive Alloy, Dark Steel, Energetic Alloy, Redstone Alloy and End Steel bees are all tagged "Made in Alloy Smelter". Each one asks you to hand in the matching storage block, like Soularium Block, Pulsating Alloy Block or End Steel Block, along with a bee item.[4]

That makes the Alloy Smelter your first real Ender IO machine. Here is the in-pack recipe.[8]

any iron ingotany obsidianany iron ingot

    Recipe id: enderio:alloy_smelter

The pack has also changed things around those blocks. The compressed versions of the alloy blocks (conductive, copper alloy, dark steel, end steel, energetic, pulsating, redstone, soularium and vibrant) have decompress recipes that are flagged as changed by the pack. If you use compressed storage, they turn back into the regular Ender IO block.[8]

The Bee of Infinity quest wants Reinforced Obsidian instead. That one is crafted rather than alloy-smelted. Its quest text says a BlazBee pollinating an Obsidian Bee Spawn Egg converts it into an Infinity Bee Spawn Egg.[4][8]

    Step 2: Capacitor banks

The recipes show a clear power-storage path built on capacitor types. The Basic Capacitor Bank uses a Basic Capacitor. The Advanced Capacitor Bank uses a Double-Layer Capacitor. The Vibrant Capacitor Bank uses an Octadic Capacitor.[8]

This bank matters for progression. It is the task of an untitled quest in Chapter 4: The ATM Star, so you will need it on the way to the ATM Star. a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star"[3][8]

Step 3: Soul binding and the Sentient Ender

The other Ender IO item in that same Chapter 4 is the Sentient Ender. a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star" asks for it, and it is made by soul binding an Ender Resonator.[3][8]

    Optional: The Powered Spawner

The Apothic Spawners chapter has a quest for the Powered Spawner, Ender IO's version of the mob spawner. The quest text starts you off with a Broken Spawner you like and a filled Soul Vial, and the recipe below shows the exact crafting. Once it is placed, you give it a capacitor and power it. It can also fill Soul Vials directly, without a Clicker. a quest in "Apothic Spawners"[5]

Tip: The Yeta Wrench is on the Industrial Foregoing chapter's list of wrenches that can rotate Industrial Foregoing machines, which is handy if you run both mods. a quest in "Industrial Foregoing"[6]

Unverified The sources don't give an official tier order for the rest of Ender IO (conduits, dark steel gear, obelisks and so on), and the mod's own in-game guide entries in these sources are only placeholder text. Check in-game before relying on any ordering beyond the steps above.

How does Ender IO work with other mods?

    6 parts

Ender IO doesn't sit alone in this pack. A bunch of the pack's recipes and quests mix its items with other mods, from Mekanism pipes to bees and sieves. Here is where those connections show up.[3][4][8]

    Mekanism

The pack adds recipes that turn Mekanism's pressurized tubes and its Advanced Thermodynamic Conductor into Ender IO conduits, so you can carry that infrastructure over. There are separate recipes for the basic, advanced and elite pressurized tubes, plus the thermodynamic conductor. The mod's own page also lists a Mekanism Chemicals conduit type.[1][8]

The pack also adds "upgrade" recipes that make a conduit from Infused Alloy or from Reinforced Alloy.[8]

    Oritech

The pack changes how Oritech's Fluid Pipe and Pump are crafted, and both now tie into Ender IO through the Conduit Binder. The exact recipes are below.[8]

    Centrifuge (productivebees)

      Recipe id: productivebees:centrifuge/enderio/honeycomb_vibrant_alloy

The questbook has a matching bee quest for each material: "Soularium Bee" quest, "Pulsating Alloy Bee" quest, "Vibrant Alloy Bee" quest, "Copper Alloy Bee" quest, "Conductive Alloy Bee" quest, "Dark Steel Bee" quest, "Energetic Alloy Bee" quest, "Redstone Alloy Bee" quest and "End Steel Bee" quest. Each one asks for a honeycomb, comb, spawn egg or bee cage, plus the matching Ender IO block, and they're marked as made in the Alloy Smelter.[4]

"Bee Of Infinity" quest is a bit different. It asks for Reinforced Obsidian, and its text says a BlazBee pollinating an Obsidian Bee Spawn Egg converts it into an Infinity Bee Spawn Egg.[4]

      AllTheCompressed

The pack lets you compress Ender IO's alloy blocks into their 1x versions and decompress them again, using recipes the pack has changed. For example, Dark Steel Block becomes Dark Steel Block 1x. The same goes for the conductive, copper, end steel, energetic, pulsating, redstone, soularium and vibrant alloy blocks.[8]

The Vibrant Capacitor Bank and the Sentient Ender both feed into the pack's late-game recipes from All The Tweaks, for the Improbable Probability Device and Philosopher's Fuel. The exact recipes are below. Both Ender IO items also have quests in the ATM Star chapter: a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star" and a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star".[3][8]

The Apothic Spawners chapter has a quest for Powered Spawner, described as Ender IO's spawner: a quest in "Apothic Spawners". It says you need a filled Soul Vial and a Broken Spawner, then you place the crafted spawner, give it a Capacitor and power it. It can also fill Soul Vials directly.[5]

Finally, a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" in the Industrial Foregoing chapter lists wrenches that can rotate Industrial Foregoing machines. The Yeta Wrench is on that list. The quest notes the tests were done mainly on the Laser Drill and that some wrenches might not work on other machines.[6]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Ender IO?

      4 parts

Ender IO shows up in several quest chapters in this pack. The biggest by far is Productive Bees, and the others (The ATM Star, Apothic Spawners and Industrial Foregoing) only have a quest or a couple that touch the mod.[3][4][5][6]

      Productive Bees

This chapter has a whole run of alloy-themed bee quests. Each one asks you to hand in a bee-related item (a configurable honeycomb, a configurable comb, a configurable bee spawn egg, a bee cage or a sturdy bee cage all count) and also a matching Ender IO block. They all unlock after the same earlier quest, so none of them depends on another one in the run.[4]

"Copper Alloy Bee" quest belongs to the same run and follows the same pattern. All of these quests are labelled "Made in Alloy Smelter", which tells you where the alloy comes from.[4]

"Bee Of Infinity" quest is the odd one out. It asks for Reinforced Obsidian alongside the bee item and has no Alloy Smelter label. Its description says a BlazBee pollinating an Obsidian Bee Spawn Egg will convert it into an Infinity Bee Spawn Egg.[4]

      Chapter 4: The ATM Star

This chapter has untitled quests that ask for Ender IO items. a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star" wants the Vibrant Capacitor Bank, and a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star" wants the Sentient Ender. The quest data lists no prerequisites for either.[3]

      Apothic Spawners

a quest in "Apothic Spawners" is labelled "EnderIO's Spawner" and asks you to hand in the Powered Spawner. It unlocks after an earlier quest in the same chapter.[5]

The quest text walks you through it. You need a filled Soul Vial and a Broken Spawner, and you craft the Powered Spawner with the Broken Spawner. Then place it, give it a Capacitor and power it. The text also says this spawner can fill Soul Vials directly, with no Clicker needed.[5]

      Industrial Foregoing

a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" is a wrench-compatibility quest. The Yeta Wrench is one of several accepted wrenches, alongside wrenches from other mods. The quest author compiled the list because most wrenches can't rotate Industrial Foregoing machines. It was tested mainly on the Laser Drill, so some wrenches might not work with other machines.[6]

Which Ender IO config options matter?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.11 guide

There's nothing to tune here. The pack ships no config files for this mod, so every option runs at whatever the mod itself defaults to, and nothing has been changed for this pack.[1]

That also means you don't need to touch anything before you start building machines and conduits. Energy, item, fluid, redstone, Applied Energistics 2 ME, Refined Storage and Mekanism chemical conduits are all present in the version bundled here, as are the machines, armor, weapons, tools, enchantments and decorative blocks.[1]

Tip: This is the monolithic build of the mod, so Base, Machines, Conduits and the Inventory Panel all come in a single jar rather than as separate module mods you could add or remove individually.[1]
Watch out: The mod is being rewritten from the ground up for modern Minecraft, so if a feature you remember is missing, it's most likely not ported yet rather than something disabled by a config option in this pack.[1]

Unverified Any in-game config screen this mod may expose has not been checked against the pack, so treat anything you find there as mod defaults rather than pack-tuned values.

What changed in Ender IO between versions?

      4 parts

All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.2 ships Ender IO 8.2.3-beta, and Ender IO has been in the pack since 1.0 or earlier. I don't have any pack changelog entries for this mod, so everything below comes from Ender IO's own changelogs, oldest to newest.[2]

      7.1.8-alpha

This was a bugfix build: powered machines now update their state correctly, a fix for loading large conduit networks was ported from 1.20.1, and Refined Storage was updated to its beta release. It was later marked as a beta, and the changelog recommends it over the 8.0 alphas if you want stability.[11]

      8.0.x alphas

Version 8.0.3 is the big one. It rewrote the core conduit block logic and data storage, with much more efficient ticking, and added FTB Ultimine support for vein mining individual conduits or facades within bundles. It also followed hotfixes for world load problems with upgraded conduits from 7.x saves (8.0.1, 8.0.2 and 8.0.3).[12]

      • Item, energy, fluid and chemical conduits gained a priority option. Energy conduits also got buffed rates and share energy equally across outputs with the same priority.[12]
      • Redstone conduits gained a "strong power" option.[12]
      • Filters got bigger, and an advanced item filter and big item filter variants were added.[12]
      • The primitive alloy smelter was removed, and the Alloy Smelter and SAG Mill no longer require dark steel to craft.[12]
      • New additions include the Attractor Obelisk, the Weather Obelisk, a wireless charger with range extending antennas, VAT recipes and a powered spawner capture mode.[12]
      • Enchantments were removed from Ender IO for now, along with the light and powered light blocks and the wood and stone gear.[12]

Version 8.0.4 ported the Conduit Probe to 1.21.1, added a Soul Vial whitelist tag so modpacks can bypass the blacklist, and fixed releasing a mob from a stack of vials deleting the rest of the stack. Version 8.0.7 fixed a hang on load when using the attractor obelisk.[13][14]

Watch out: The 8.0 alphas changed the save data format, so the upgrade from 7.x is one way. Reverting to 7.x is not supported, and going back down would risk data loss or corruption.[11][12][13]

      8.1.1-beta

      • Energy throttling was removed, and machines that send energy now distribute it evenly.[15]
      • A whitelist tag was added for capturing and spawning mobs.[15]
      • With Iris shaders in use, facades are now hidden instead of being made transparent.[15]
      • Fixed item conduits not being upgradable in place, and a logic problem with travel anchors.[15]

8.2.3-beta (the version in this pack)

A small bugfix release that moves the 8.2 branch of Ender IO into the main slot. It fixes painted blocks not copying data to the placed block correctly.[2][16]

Like the earlier builds, it lists "The Ender IO" as an early work in progress experiment. Experiments sit behind feature flags and shouldn't be enabled on your primary world.[15][16]
