Actually Additions is a mod in All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.1.0, where it is version 1.3.26. Fan-favorite magitech mod full of fun and useful gadgets (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Actually Additions?

1 part

Actually Additions is a magitech mod packed with gadgets. This pack ships version 1.3.26 of it. The core idea is that you use the Atomic Reconstructor and the Empowerer to turn ordinary minerals into powerful crystals, and those crystals unlock the rest of the mod.[1][2]

From there you can build machines for processing and sorting items, lasers that move energy, items and fluids wirelessly, and a renewable oil setup for generating power. If you like tinkering with automation and utility blocks, this mod is for you.[1]

The mod also comes with its own in-game booklet. It has a getting started entry and chapters such as the intro and the crystals chapter, so open it first when you're unsure where to begin.[3][4][5]

Where it fits in the pack

Actually Additions sits on the ATM Star path. In Chapter 4: The ATM Star, there are quests that ask for the Empowered Canola Seeds, the Display Stand and the Empowerer. Another asks for the Player Interface, and one asks for the Ender Star. The quests are a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star", a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star" and a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star".[6]

The mod shows up in a couple of side quests too. The "Flax String" quest quest accepts Flax Seeds as one of several seed options. In the Productive Bees chapter, "Black Quartz Bee" quest has you feed a Block of Black Quartz to a Crystalline Bee.[7][8]

Unverified The sources don't say how the ATM Star quests use these items beyond collecting them, or what order to tackle them in, so check the quest book in-game for details.

How do you get started with Actually Additions?

5 parts

Actually Additions is a magitech mod. The core loop is simple: you use the Atomic Reconstructor and the Empowerer to turn minerals into powerful crystals, and those crystals let you build machines, wireless lasers and power generation. The steps below follow that loop in the order I'd tackle it.[1]

Step one: craft the manual

Make the Actually Additions Manual (WIP) first. It is the mod's in-game guide, and it's worth having on hand as you unlock new machines. It is crafted from Canola Seeds, and those seeds are crafted from Canola Plant.[9]

Step two: build the Atomic Reconstructor

The Atomic Reconstructor is the machine that turns minerals into crystals, so it is the heart of the early game.[1]

Step three: make coils

Coils are a key crafting component, so you will make plenty. The Basic Coil goes into the Auto-Breaker and the Coffee Maker, while the Advanced Coil goes into the Display Stand. The pack changed the Advanced Coil recipe, so follow the one below rather than anything you remember from the mod's defaults.[9]

Step four: get some power

The Coal Generator is a natural early power source. The pack changed its recipe too, so use the one shown here.[9]

Step five: move on to the Empowerer

The Empowerer is built with a Display Stand, so make that first. In the pack's quest book, the chapter called Chapter 4: The ATM Star has a quest, a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star", that asks for the display stand, the empowerer and Empowered Canola Seeds. That makes it a good checkpoint.[6][9]

Tip: The Flax String quest "Flax String" quest accepts Flax Seeds among several other seed types. The pack changed the cloche recipe for these seeds so it also gives string. The pack also adds sieve recipes that give flax seeds from dirt, using Flint, Iron, Golden, Diamond or Netherite meshes.[7][9]

How does Actually Additions work?

5 parts

Actually Additions is built around crystals and lasers. You make crystals with the Atomic Reconstructor and the Empowerer, and those crystals unlock machines for processing and sorting items, lasers that move energy, items and fluids wirelessly, and renewable oil for power. Here is how the parts the sources explain actually work.[1]

Starting point: the Atomic Reconstructor

Everything starts with the Atomic Reconstructor, the machine that turns minerals into crystals. Here is how it's crafted in this pack.[1][9]

Coils as the machine gate

In this pack, coils show up in the recipes of many machines, including the Auto-Breaker, the Battery Box and the Canola Press. The Basic Coil is the first step, and the Advanced Coil comes after it. The Advanced Coil recipe is changed by the pack, so don't rely on the mod's default recipe.[9]

Laser relays and item networks

Item movement runs on Item Laser Relay networks. On its own, such a network only knows about all the items and slots in the containers connected to it. To actually work with those items, you use an Item Interface.[10]

The Item Interface pretends to be one very large chest containing every slot of every connected container. You can put a Hopper or any other item transport on it and it behaves like a chest: it accepts items and lets items be pulled out. Nothing is stored in the interface itself. Items go into and come out of the laser relay network. To connect an Item Interface to a network, place an Item Laser Relay next to it.[10]

The Hopping Item Interface connects the same way, by sitting next to an Item Laser Relay. The difference is that it pulls and pushes items on its own, so you don't need to pipe anything into it. It has every function of a Hopper, but it stores items in the network instead of an internal inventory.[10]

Relay modes and filters

Laser relays have a mode setting for how they treat the blocks next to them. One mode only takes items out of adjacent blocks, and the other only puts items into adjacent blocks.[10]

Filters work as a whitelist or a blocklist. An empty blocklist lets all items through, and an empty allowlist lets no items through. To filter certain items, place them, or configured Item Filters, in the slots. The smart button adds every item from inventories adjacent to the relay to that part of the list. If you enable the respect-mod option, the filter compares the mods items come from instead of the items themselves. That's handy for storage systems with mod-based chests.[10]

Machines that read from a connected inventory use a slot range. The first field is the first slot to work on, and the second is the slot after the last one. For example, entering 2 and 5 covers slots 2, 3 and 4.[10]

Tip: The manual's HUD display tells you to sneak while looking at an Actually Additions block to see more information about it, and says so when no info is available. Pressing CTRL on an item tooltip shows advanced info.[10]

Machine controls and quirks

  • Redstone mode can be toggled with a right-click while holding the right tool.[10]
  • Batteries can be switched with a sneak-right-click between charging other items in your inventory and not charging them.[10]
  • The Phantom Placer can place blocks in mid-air. Because of that it doesn't know which side to place against, so you should usually set it to a solid side.[10]
  • Drill augments must be installed in tier order. You need the previous tier first, an augment can't be installed twice, and you must remove the highest tier augments first.[10]
  • Some machines use a multiblock with a Controller. If the Controller isn't part of the right multiblock, the game tells you to look at the Controller's description.[10]
  • Some machines can shatter if you try to break them, with a message that they weren't sturdy enough to be broken.[10]

How do you progress through Actually Additions?

5 parts

Actually Additions in this pack runs from coils and crystals, through early machines, up to the Empowerer and the late-game pieces that the Chapter 4 quests ask for. This path is built from the pack's quests and the in-pack recipes.[6][9]

Tier 1: Coils

The Basic Coil is your first target. It is built from Black Quartz and Restonia Crystal, and it feeds into the Crusher, the Auto-Breaker, the Coffee Maker and the Battery Box.[9]

Advanced Coils and early machines

The pack changed the Advanced Coil recipe, so don't rely on memory of the mod's defaults here. This coil is used in the Display Stand, the Player Interface, the Canola Press and the Double Crusher.[9]

Side quests and pack changes

How does Actually Additions work with other mods?

4 parts

Actually Additions connects to several other mods in this pack. Most links come from recipes the pack added, plus a few quests that ask for items from more than one mod. Here is where you will run into them.[7][8][9]

Ex Deorum sieving

The Ex Deorum sieve hands out Actually Additions items. The pack adds recipes that turn dirt into Canola Seeds, Coffee Beans and Flax Seeds. These work with the flint, iron, golden, diamond and netherite meshes.[9]

Black Quartz comes from sifting sand. The sand recipes use the iron, golden, diamond and netherite meshes.[9]

Productive Bees uses the same material. The pack changed the bee conversion recipe that turns a Block of Black Quartz into the Productive Bees black quartz item. The quest "Black Quartz Bee" quest asks you to feed a Black Quartz Block to a Crystalline Bee.[8][9]

Pack-made crafting recipes

The pack adds shaped recipes where an Actually Additions item is one ingredient among many from other mods. The recipes below are added by the pack itself.[9]

Quests that touch Actually Additions

The quests in Chapter 4: The ATM Star include several Actually Additions items. Quest a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star" has tasks for the Empowered Canola Seeds, the Display Stand and the Empowerer. Quest a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star" asks for the Player Interface, and quest a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star" asks for the Ender Star.[6]

The Food and Farming quest "Flax String" quest accepts flax seeds from Actually Additions or from several other mods, so any of them completes it. The quest text says some of these let you grow string directly, while others give an alternative that works in recipes.[7]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Actually Additions?

3 parts

Actually Additions shows up in the Food and Farming, Productive Bees and Chapter 4: The ATM Star quest chapters in this pack. Here is what each one asks for.[6][7][8]

Food and Farming

The "Flax String" quest quest is subtitled "Who needs Spiders anyway?" and asks you to grow your own string. It comes after the quest called Punch the Grass.[7]

Its task accepts seeds from several mods, and Flax Seeds is one of the accepted options. The quest text says some of these let you grow string directly, while others give an alternative that works in recipes.[7]

Productive Bees

"Black Quartz Bee" quest asks you to feed a Black Quartz Block to a Crystalline Bee. Its first task accepts any one of several Productive Bees items: a configurable honeycomb, a configurable comb, a configurable bee spawn egg, a bee cage or a sturdy bee cage. Its second task is the Block of Black Quartz.[8]

This quest comes after another quest in the same chapter, which the quest data identifies only by the id 17419401147B5C02.[8]

Chapter 4: The ATM Star

This chapter has several Actually Additions quests. None of them has a title in the quest data, so they appear by id only.[6]

What changed in Actually Additions between versions?

6 parts

All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 ships Actually Additions 1.3.26 for Minecraft 1.21.1, and the mod has been in the pack since version 1.0 or earlier. Below are the notable changes from the mod's own changelogs, newest first. I only have changelogs for some releases, so this isn't a complete history.[2]

1.3.26 (the version in the pack)

  • Opening the booklet without Patchouli installed now shows a warning.[11]
  • Infrared Engineer Goggles now make mobs glow, as they should.[11]
  • The farmer no longer overrides custom soil with regular farmland.[11]

1.3.25

  • Fixed a crash when manually summoning the snail, and added its missing lang key.[12]
  • The Vertical Digger's checkY is now set to the minimum build height on first load.[12]
