What is Draconic Evolution?

3 parts

Draconic Evolution is the end-game tech mod of the pack. Its project page describes it as adding high-tier tools and armor, high-tier RF energy storage, and extras like teleportation, mob farming, player detection, and time and weather control. That page admits its description is ancient, so the rest of this guide sticks to what the pack's own quests show. This pack ships version 3.1.4.633.[1][2]

Getting started

The quest chapter opens by sending you to mine Draconic Ore for Draconium Dust. It spawns in all vanilla dimensions, with the most in the End. From there the chapter points you to the Draconium Core, which is a vital ingredient in many recipes, especially Basic tier items. Start with "Draconic Evolution" quest.[3]

Fusion crafting tiers

Most of the fun items are made through fusion crafting, which is built around the Fusion Crafting Core. The tier of a recipe is set by the injectors you place beside the core. In ascending order the tiers are Draconium (the quests call it Basic), Wyvern, Draconic, and Chaotic. The injectors must be at least the recipe's tier, and the same crafting core works for every tier.[3]

The last step, the Chaotic tier, needs the Chaotic Core, which depends on Chaos Shard from the Chaos Guardian fight. That fight starts by destroying 14 Guardian Crystals. Mining the shard source after the fight gives you 5 Chaos Shards.[3]

Modules and energy

Modules are essential here. Draconic Evolution items don't work without them, and most modules are made from a Module Core or a previous module. Hold an item and press Shift and C to open the module menu.[3]

For power storage, the quests call the Energy Core multiblock one of the greatest energy banks in Minecraft. Tier 1 needs only the core and 4 stabilizers, and it stores 45,500,000 RF.[3]

Unverified The sources I was given don't show whether or how the ATM Star path uses Draconic Evolution items, so I can't say where this mod fits on that path.

How do you get started with Draconic Evolution?

5 parts

Draconic Evolution is the pack's high-tier tech mod. It adds powerful tools and armor plus high-tier energy storage, and its own quest chapter calls it a very fun and OP mod. Here's the order I'd take the first steps in.[1][3]

Step 1: Get Draconium Dust

Everything starts with Draconium Dust. The first quest, "Draconic Evolution" quest, tells you to mine Draconic Ore to get the dust. It spawns in all the vanilla dimensions, but the most is in the End.[3]

The pack also adds a second route: you can sieve Crushed End Stone with a Diamond Mesh or a Netherite Mesh to get dust.[4]

Step 2: Craft a Draconium Core

Your first real crafting goal is the Draconium Core. The quest "Basic (Draconium) Core" quest calls it a vital ingredient in many Draconic Evolution recipes, especially for Basic Tier items. Make a few, because you'll keep coming back to it.[3]

Step 3: Set up Fusion Crafting

Higher-tier parts are made with fusion crafting. In this pack, items like the Wyvern Fusion Crafting Injector and the Draconic Fusion Crafting Injector are made with the fusion crafting recipe type. So you'll want a Fusion Crafting Core and a Draconium Fusion Crafting Injector early.[4]

Step 4: Learn modules

Draconic Evolution items rely on modules, so much so that the quest "Modules!" quest says they don't work without them. Most modules are made from a Module Core or from a previous module. The Energy Module is the one to prioritize: its quest, "Basic Energy Module" quest, says energy modules are the most important and are needed for using DE items.[3]

Tip: Hold a Draconic Evolution item and press Shift and C to open the Module Menu. The slots are where modules go, and the grid decides how many fit. A module marked 1x1 takes one slot, and one marked 2x2 takes four. The lowest button on the right shows which modules can be applied to the item you're holding.[3]

Step 5: Build your first Energy Core

Once you have the basics, start on energy storage. The Energy Core is the heart of the Energy Core multiblock ("Energy Core Mulitblock" quest). Place it a bit off the ground. Its GUI has Build Guide, Tier Down, Tier Up and Assemble Core buttons. If you have all the blocks the tier needs, Assemble Core builds the structure for you.[3]

Tier 1 only needs the core plus 4 Energy Core Stabilizer blocks and stores 45,500,000 RF. The first 4 tiers of cores need just 4 stabilizers around them. If a stabilizer is too close to the core or in the wrong spot, the core will tell you.[3]

To get power in and out, craft at least two Energy Pylon blocks, one for input and one for output. Place them near the core and put glass over them, and they assemble automatically, targeting the closest Energy Core. Right-click the new ball on top of each pylon to switch it between input and output, then attach crystals to move power.[3]

Watch out: The quests call energy OP, and they note that when items are upgraded they use more OP per use. Plan your power setup before you start upgrading gear.[3]

How does Draconic Evolution work?

7 parts

Draconic Evolution is described as an end game tech mod with high-tier energy storage (RF), teleportation, mob farming (spawning and killing), player detection, and time and weather control. This page covers the systems the pack's sources actually explain. The sources give no in-jar guidebook and no config files for this mod, so some numbers (RF capacities, transfer rates, tier sizes) are not covered here.[1][5]

Energy Core

The Energy Core is the mod's big RF storage multiblock. Its screen is titled "Tier %s Energy Core" and has Assemble Core, Activate and Deactivate buttons, plus Tier Up and Tier Down. A Toggle Build Guide button shows you where the blocks go.[5]

If the build is wrong, the screen tells you. "Core structure invalid" means the shape is off. "Stabilizer configuration invalid" means the Wyvern Energy Controller-style controller can't use your stabilizer layout. Some setups show "(Advanced stabilizers required)", but the sources don't say which tiers need them. Stabilizers are their own block, the Energy Core Stabilizer.[4][5]

The screen also has an Energy Target field. It is for display purposes only, so it won't limit or change how the core charges. You can type a plain number or scientific notation: the screen's own example is 9.223E18, which becomes 9,223,000,000,000,000,000.[5]

The controllers come in three tiers: Wyvern Energy Controller, Draconic Energy Controller and Chaotic Energy Controller. Each step up is crafted from the one below, plus a higher-tier core.[4]

Moving energy around

The mod has an energy network built from crystals. There are Energy Relay Crystals, Energy I/O Crystals and Wireless Energy Crystals, each in Basic, Wyvern and Draconic versions. Energy Pylons and the Energy Transfuser are also part of the energy gear.[5]

The tool messages show how linking works: you link devices, can clear links or clear receivers, and the HUD shows Charge and Links. The full linking steps are cut off in the sources, so check them in-game.[5]

The Basic Wireless Energy Crystal is built from a Basic Relay Crystal, so you step up from relay to wireless.[4]

Fusion crafting

Many high-tier items use the mod's own recipe type, fusion crafting. It uses a Fusion Crafting Core with Fusion Crafting Injectors around it. The injectors come in four tiers: Draconium, Wyvern, Draconic and Chaotic.[4][5]

Fusion recipes in the pack include the Draconic Core, the Awakened Draconium Block and the Chaotic Fusion Crafting Injector. The Chaotic injector is crafted from the Draconic one, so you upgrade your injectors rather than starting over.[4]

Fusion Crafting (draconicevolution)

Recipe id: draconicevolution:machines/chaotic_crafting_injector

The pack also adds a shapeless recipe that turns a Draconic Fusion Crafting Injector into a Draconic Fusion Crafting Injector. Its purpose isn't stated in the sources.[4]

Materials

In this pack, Draconium Dust can be sieved from Crushed End Stone using a Diamond Mesh in Ex Deorum. This recipe was added by the pack. Awakened dust smelts into an Awakened Draconium Ingot.[4]

Storage blocks of awakened draconium decompress into 9 ingots each. A Chaos Shard breaks down into 9 Large Chaos Fragment.[4]

Utility machines

The Celestial Manipulator controls time and weather. Its screen offers Clear Skies, Create Rain and Create Storm. For time it can skip 24 hours, skip to Sunrise, Noon, Sunset, Moonrise, Midnight or Moonset, and stop skipping.[5]

The Draconium Chest has a built-in furnace with four Auto-Smelt modes. Off does nothing. All feeds every smeltable item into the furnace. Filtered only feeds items that are already being smelted. Filtered (Sticky) works like Filtered but keeps one item so the filter persists. You can also change the chest's colour.[5]

The Disenchanter screen shows the level of the enchant and its XP cost in levels.[5]

Teleportation

The Dislocator uses Ender Pearls as teleport fuel, and the fuel counter shows the total number of teleports remaining. You can add 1, 16 or all the pearls from your inventory. To bind a location, sneak and right click: it saves your current X, Y, Z, the direction you face and your dimension.[5]

Right click either teleports you to the selected location or blinks, and you can switch between the two modes. You can also configure keybindings. A location list lets you add, rename (double left click), drag to reorder, delete and lock entries, or update one with "Set Here". Editing needs the list unlocked.[5]

Not covered by the sources

The Draconic Reactor Core, Reactor Energy Injector and Reactor Stabilizer exist as blocks, and so do the Stabilized Mob Spawner and Mob Grinder. The sources I have don't explain how they work, so check them in-game.[5]

How do you progress through Draconic Evolution?

5 parts

Draconic Evolution is a chain of crafting tiers, and the pack's quest book walks you through it in order: Draconium (the quests call it Basic), Wyvern, Draconic and Chaotic. Each tier unlocks the next set of gear, and Chaotic is the end of the line.[3]

Getting started

The first quest asks for Draconium Dust. It comes from Draconic Ore, which spawns in all vanilla dimensions, with the most in the End.[3]

This pack also adds sieve recipes that turn crushed End stone into dust, using either a Diamond Mesh or a Netherite Mesh. That gives you a second way to get started.[4]

Fusion Crafting and the four tiers

Most of the fun items are made through Fusion Crafting. You place a Fusion Crafting Core about a block above the ground. Recipes can be auto-placed into it from JEI, and the middle item and the finished item both go there.[3]

The Fusion Crafting Core stays the same as you tier up, because the injectors set the tier. They go on the left and right of the core, a few blocks away, in a cross shape with a maximum of 5 per side. They also need energy, and the quests suggest connecting Relay I/O Crystals to them.[3]

A recipe needs injectors of its tier or higher. For example, the Wyvern Axe needs at least 6 Wyvern injectors, with 3 on each side.[3]

  1. Basic (Draconium) tier: build the Draconium Fusion Crafting Injector, which the Basic Tier quest asks for.[3]
  2. Wyvern tier: upgrade to the Wyvern Fusion Crafting Injector.[3]
  3. Draconic tier: make the Draconic Fusion Crafting Injector. The quest says this is what Draconic Cores are for.[3]
  4. Chaotic tier: finish with the Chaotic Fusion Crafting Injector. The quest calls it the end of the road for Crafting Infusions. Everything can be created from here, including everything the Reactor needs.[3]

The cores follow the same path. The Draconic Core (Draconic Core) comes first. Then the Chaotic Core is needed for the last tier.[3][4]

The Chaos Guardian and Chaos Shards

The Chaotic Core quest hopes you followed the quest branch that explains how to get Chaos Shards. That branch is the Chaos Guardian fight. The first stage is destroying 14 Guardian Crystals, and the Guardian can't be hurt until they are gone. The quest says this is no easy task without a Draconic weapon. The "Locate and Destroy 14 Guardian Crystals" quest quest asks for Draconium Infused Obsidian.[3]

Once he is defeated he drops EXP and a Dragon Heart. Look where lightning strikes and mine below it to find the Chaos Shard. Mining it grants 5 Chaos Shard items, which can be crafted into smaller parts.[3]

The Draconic Reactor Core quest unlocks after both the Chaotic Tier and Chaos Shards quests.[6]

Energy Core tiers

The Energy Core is the other progression track. Its GUI has Build Guide, Tier Down, Tier Up and Assemble Core buttons. If you have all the blocks, Assemble Core builds it for you.[3]

  • Tier 1 stores 45,500,000 RF and needs only the core and 4 Energy Core Stabilizer blocks.[3]
  • Tier 2 stores 273,000,000 RF. It adds 6 Draconium Block blocks, one on each side of the core, on top of the 4 stabilizers.[3]

The quests say the first 4 core tiers need only 4 stabilizers. To move power in and out you use Energy Pylon blocks.[3]

Module tiers

Your gear doesn't work without modules. Most are made from a Module Core or a previous module, so each module line climbs the same four tiers. Chaotic modules are the top step. For example, the Chaotic AOE Module recipe is shown below.[3][4]

How does Draconic Evolution work with other mods?

5 parts

Draconic Evolution is the end-game energy and gear mod, and this pack ties it into a lot of other mods. Most of the links below are recipes the pack added or changed. The fun part is that you can't treat Draconic Evolution as a standalone progression here.[1][4]

Getting Draconium Dust and Ingots

The Draconic Evolution quest points you to mining ore for Draconium Dust, and says the most ore is in the End. The pack also adds two Ex Deorum sieve recipes that give you dust from Crushed End Stone, one with a Diamond Mesh and one with a Netherite Mesh.[3][4]

The pack's Productive Bees quest chapter has quests for the "Draconium Bee" quest, "Awakened Bee" quest and "Chaos Bee" quest bees, so look there for the pack's own guidance on them.[7]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Draconic Evolution?

    7 parts

Draconic Evolution has its own quest chapter, and it's a big one. You kick it off with "Draconic Evolution" quest, which asks for Draconium Dust. You get it by mining Draconic Ore, which spawns in all vanilla dimensions, with the most in the End.[3]

Fusion Crafting and the crafting tiers

After the first quest, the chapter walks you up the Fusion Crafting ladder in this order:[3]

    1. "Basic (Draconium) Core" quest asks for a Draconium Core, a vital ingredient in many Draconic Evolution recipes, especially Basic Tier items.[3]
    2. "Fusion Crafting" quest asks for the Fusion Crafting Core. Place it about a block above the ground, with injectors a few blocks away, looking toward the core on two sides of it.[3]
    3. "Basic Tier" quest asks for the Draconium Fusion Crafting Injector. The injector tiers go Draconium (called Basic), Wyvern, Draconic, then Chaotic. You can place a maximum of 5 injectors on each side of the core.[3]
    4. "Wyvern Tier" quest asks for the Wyvern Fusion Crafting Injector. A recipe needs injectors of at least its own tier, so the Wyvern Axe needs at least 6 Wyvern injectors, 3 on each side. The Crafting Core stays the same.[3]
    5. "Draconic Tier" quest asks for the Draconic Fusion Crafting Injector.[3]
    6. "Chaotic Core" quest asks for the Chaotic Core, which you need for the last tier. It unlocks after Draconic Tier.[3]
    7. "Chaotic Tier" quest asks for the Chaotic Fusion Crafting Injector. It's the end of the road for crafting infusions: everything can be made from here, including what you need for the Reactor.[3]

Two side quests also unlock after Basic Tier: "Draconium Chest" quest for the Draconium Chest and "Basic Energy Relay Crystal" quest for the Basic Energy Relay Crystal.[3]

    The Chaos Guardian branch

    Energy (OP)

    1. "What is Energy or as we call it, OP?" quest asks for the Crystal Binder. It unlocks after the Basic Core quest and introduces OP, the mod's energy. The main way to move it is with IO Relay Crystals.[3]
    2. "Moving OP" quest asks for an IO crystal (Basic, Wyvern or Draconic). Link them by Shift Right Clicking one with the Crystal Binder, then right clicking the one you want connected.[3]
    3. "Adding OP to items" quest asks for the Energy Transfuser. Your item needs an Energy Module in it, and then you put the item into the Transfuser to charge it.[3]

    Energy Core

"Energy Core Mulitblock" quest asks for the Energy Core, the heart of the multiblock. "Energy Core Stabilizers" quest (the Energy Core Stabilizer) and "Power comes and goes through these" quest (the Energy Pylon) both unlock after it. The tier quests then follow, and each one lists what it stores and what it needs:[3]

    • "Tier 1" quest stores 45,500,000 RF and needs only the core and 4 stabilizers.[3]
    • "Tier 2" quest stores 273,000,000 RF and adds 6 Draconium Blocks, 1 on each side of the core.[3]
    • "Tier 3" quest stores 1,640,000,000 RF and needs 26 Draconium Blocks fully encasing the core.[3]
    • "Tier 4" quest stores 9,880,000,000 RF. It needs 26 Redstone Blocks encasing the core, then 54 Draconium Blocks above them.[3]

The chapter also has quests named Tier 5 through Tier 8, but the sources don't show what they ask for.[3]

    Modules

"Modules!" quest asks for the Module Core. It explains that DE items don't work without modules, and that you hold an item and press Shift and C to open the Module Menu. Most module quests unlock after it.[3]

The module quests mostly run in upgrade chains, Basic then Wyvern then Draconic then Chaotic. For example, damage goes "Basic Damage Module" quest, "Wyvern Damage Module" quest, "Draconic Damage Module" quest, then "Chaotic Damage Module" quest. Energy links work the same way: "Wireless Energy Link" quest, then "Quantum Energy Tunnel" quest, then "Chaos-Entangled Quantum Energy Tunnel" quest. The Quantum Energy Tunnel is the first one that works between dimensions, as long as the other side is chunkloaded.[3]

The undying chain also needs shield capacity: "Wyvern Undying Module" quest unlocks after Modules! and Wyvern Shield Capacity Module. "Draconic Undying Module" quest needs Wyvern Undying plus Draconic Shield Capacity, and "Chaotic Undying Module" quest needs Draconic Undying plus Chaotic Shield Capacity.[3]

Chaotic Energy Controller and the Reactor

The "Chapter 4: The ATM Star" chapter has two untitled quests that use this mod. One asks for the Chaotic Energy Controller and unlocks after Wyvern Tier (a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star"). The other asks for the Draconic Reactor Core and unlocks after both Chaotic Tier and Chaos Shards (a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star").[6]

    Other chapters

The Productive Bees chapter includes a Chaos Bee quest ("Chaos Bee" quest).[7]

Unverified The tool and armor quests (such as the Wyvern, Draconic and Chaotic swords, bows and chestplates), the Reactor quests (such as Building the Reactor) and the Productive Bees quests (Draconium Bee, Awakened Bee, Chaos Bee) are in the pack's quest list. The sources provided here don't show what they ask for or their order, so check them in-game.

What changed in Draconic Evolution between versions?

    4 parts

All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 ships Draconic Evolution 3.1.4.633 for Minecraft 1.21.1. The mod was already in the pack as of 1.0 or earlier. Below are the changes from the mod's own changelogs, newest first. I don't have any pack changelog entries for this mod.[2]

3.1.4.633 (the version in this pack)

    • Insta-kill damage no longer sometimes bugs out. When several mods modify damage and death events (the changelog names Apothic Attributes and Relics), dealing too much damage could leave an entity in a semi-dead state. Lowering the damage dealt prevents that.[8]
    • Added the missing Chaos Implosion death message.[8]
    • Energy Links no longer only take the minimum energy. The flow is now saved to the module, so it isn't reset every tick.[8]
    • Existing worlds are protected from breaking. A new codec added to the Energy Link entity could stop a world loading if a player already had an Energy Link, so the codec is now optional.[8]

    3.1.4.632 and 3.1.4.630

    • 3.1.4.632: fixed the soul drop rate with water animals.[9]
