Neo Vitae is a mod in All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.1.0, where it is version 1.1.31. Spill blood for power. Altars that consume life, sigils that bend the world, custom demons in an endless dungeon, sentient armor that drinks souls, a shield that pays your damage in essentia. Datapack-driven from the ground up. (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Neo Vitae?

2 parts

Neo Vitae is the blood-magic mod in this pack. You spill your own blood, turn it into Essentia Vitae (EV), and spend that EV on altars, sigils, rituals and forges. This pack ships Neo Vitae 1.1.21.[1][2][3]

Everything starts at the Ara Vitae, a multiblock altar that consumes EV to transmute items. Your Anima is a personal pool of EV that follows you between worlds and dimensions. The altar has six construction tiers, and there are six tiers of Orbs of Vitae to raise your Anima capacity.[1]

Where the quest book puts it

The mod has its own chapter in the pack's quest book, called Neo Vitae. It opens with "Welcome to Neo Vitae" quest, which asks you to place an Ara Vitae. From there it branches into three early paths.[3]

Unverified Whether the ATM Star path uses Neo Vitae is not shown in the sources here. Check the ATM Star path in the pack's quest book.

What the mod grows into

Later you get sigils for utility jobs, more than 30 rituals run from the Master Ritual Stone, and Sentient armor and weapons that gain strength from the souls of mobs you kill. Spiritus is a second resource layer with five aspects: Raw, Ruina, Nihilum, Vindicta and Invictus.[1]

The big endgame draw is the Highway to Hell ritual, which opens a permanent gateway to an endless, procedurally generated demon dungeon full of custom demons.[1]

Tip: The mod has its own in-game guidebook, Scriptura Vitae. It is written to teach the systems, so open it whenever a mechanic here feels unclear.[1]

How do you get started with Neo Vitae?

6 parts

Welcome to Vitaemancy! Blood is the currency here, and you turn it into Essentia Vitae (EV), the fuel behind every altar, sigil, ritual and forge you'll build. The first quest, "Welcome to Neo Vitae" quest, starts you off with one item: the Ara Vitae.[3]

Place your altar

Set the Ara Vitae on flat stone you can walk all the way around. It has no blood of its own yet, so it borrows a little from whoever stands nearby. It never takes enough to kill you, just enough to wake it up.[3]

Bind your first orb

Next comes "Bind a Novicius Orb" quest. Lay a diamond on the empty altar and it pulls two thousand EV from whoever is nearby to make a Novicius Orb of Vitae. One right-click binds the orb to you for good. Even this first orb raises your Anima, the hidden network that carries your soul into everything you craft, up to 5,000 EV. Every later orb depends on this one.[3]

Make slates and a scribe tool

"The Blank Slate" quest has you run smooth stone through a Tier 0 altar for 1,000 EV to get Tabula Rasa. You'll scribe almost every sigil onto it.[3]

After that, "The Scribe's Tool" quest has you brew an Arcane Scribe Tool in the Tabula Vitae, your first alchemical bench. With an orb seated in it, the bench pulls EV from your Anima. Strike the ground with the tool and a circle wakes under your feet: your first Alchemy Array.[3]

"Throwing Daggers" quest gives you a Throwing Dagger for ranged damage. Creatures wounded by a thrown dagger leave Spiritus Essence behind when they die. Pick it up, because the Hellfire Forge in "The Hellfire Forge" quest feeds on it. Fed Spiritus Gems, it pays you back with more gems, Sentient Tools and more.[3]

Climb to Tier I

Runes push the altar up a tier. "Blank Runes" quest starts with the Blank Rune, which you carve into a capacity, speed or sacrifice rune. For "Tier I: The Ring of Runes" quest, eight Blank Runes close the first ring in a 3x3 shape with the center left open. The four cardinal slots take specialized runes. Once the altar reaches Tier I, you can forge the Discipulus Orb of Vitae, which raises your Anima ceiling to 25,000 EV.[3]

Measure what you have

"A Sense for Anima" quest points you to the Divination Sigil, scribed on the Alchemy Array. It shows how much Anima you're holding and how much EV the altar in front of you has stored. The Seer's Sigil adds exact progress and EV per tick, which you'll want when aiming for higher tiers.[3]

Tip: A Spike Trap feeds the altar every time it hurts a creature within 8 blocks of an Ara Vitae. Pair it with a spawner or a Vortex Array and a collection array nearby, and the altar starts feeding itself. That's the goal of "Early Blood Automation" quest.[3]

How does Neo Vitae work?

4 parts

Neo Vitae runs on blood. Everything in this section comes down to Essentia Vitae (EV), the mod's blood-based currency, and the altars, arrays and rituals that spend it.[1]

The Ara Vitae altar

The heart of the mod is the Ara Vitae, a multiblock altar that consumes EV to transmute items. If you drop a Blood Orb into it, the altar starts sharing your Anima. That is a personal pool of essentia that follows you between worlds, dimensions and containers.[1]

There are six tiers of altar construction. The higher tiers add rings of runes: Speed, Acceleration, Charging, Capacity, Sacrifice, Dislocation and Orb, each with a Reinforced counterpart. Together these bend how the altar behaves. Cap stones at the higher tiers also drive alchemy array projections that float above the structure while it works. Orbs of Vitae come in six tiers too, and they raise the network's capacity.[1]

The altar block itself uses the mod's own recipe, unchanged by the pack.

The pack does change at least one machine recipe: the Athanor has a pack-specific recipe, shown below.[4]

Alchemy arrays

Alchemy arrays are the most basic way to craft in this mod. You inscribe one with the Arcane Scribe Tool by pressing Use on a solid surface. Each inscription uses one charge, and the tool holds twenty uses before it wears out.[5]

An empty array does nothing. Click it with an item to place the base component, and the glyph changes shape if the base is recognized. Then place a second item as the catalyst. If both are valid, the array activates, and both items are consumed and replaced by the result.[5]

Tip: Watch the glyph when you place the base. If its pattern changes, you are on the right track.[5]

Crafting arrays write the essence of the base onto the catalyst to produce something new. Some need only common materials, while others need reagents made by more advanced means. Most sigils, reagents and bindings start out in a crafting array.[5]

Not every array crafts. The Repulsion Array pushes hostile creatures away in a 5-block radius. The Deflection Array reflects projectiles back through a column that is roughly 6 blocks tall and 3 blocks wide. Deflection needs a Tabula Animata and a diamond to inscribe, while Repulsion needs only iron and lapis.[5]

Rituals

Rituals are anchored with a Master Ritual Stone and its rune complement. Each ritual in the in-game guide lists an EV activation cost, an activation crystal, a rune requirement and sometimes ongoing upkeep. Here are three examples as the guide shows them.[1][6][7][8]

  • Butchering ritual: 25,000 EV to activate with a Weak Activation Crystal, and upkeep of 25 EV every 40 ticks. It needs 16 runes in total: 8 Fire, 4 Earth and 4 Air.[7]
  • Condor ritual: 10,000 EV to activate with an Awakened Activation Crystal, and upkeep of 100 EV/sec. It needs 28 runes: 20 Air and 8 Tenebrae.[8]
  • Armor evolve ritual: 50,000 EV to activate with an Awakened Activation Crystal, then 25,000 EV per use. It needs 28 runes: 12 Tenebrae, 8 Fire, 4 Earth and 4 Air.[6]

Other crafting stations

Sigils come from the Tabula Vitae. You drop a Blood Orb in with the right reagents and a sigil comes out, each one performing a specific job at a specific essentia cost. The Tabula Vitae is a six-input bench that also brews alchemy flasks and anointments. The Hellfire Forge crafts Sentient weapons and armor, which grow stronger from the souls of mobs you kill.[1]

How do you progress through Neo Vitae?

3 parts

Neo Vitae progression runs on one block: the Ara Vitae. You raise it tier by tier by building rings of runes around it, and each tier lets you forge a bigger Orb of Vitae that raises your Anima, the hidden network tied to your orb. The pack's quest chapter follows this ladder, so you can use the quests as your checklist.[3]

Tier 0: your first altar

Start with "Welcome to Neo Vitae" quest and place an Ara Vitae on flat stone you can walk all the way around. It borrows a little blood from whoever stands nearby, never enough to kill.[3]

Two quests come next. "The Blank Slate" quest has the altar turn smooth stone into Tabula Rasa for 1,000 EV, and the quest says it is what you scribe almost every sigil onto. "Bind a Novicius Orb" quest has you lay a diamond on the empty altar to bind your first Novicius Orb of Vitae, and the quest says even this first orb pushes your Anima up to 5,000 EV.[3]

Then comes Blank Rune in "Blank Runes" quest. The quest says runes are what push the altar up a tier, and that every rune starts blank until you carve one into it: capacity, speed or sacrifice.[3]

The five altar tiers

  1. Tier I ("Tier I: The Ring of Runes" quest): eight Blank Runes close a 3x3 ring one level below the basin, with the center left open. The four cardinal slots take specialized runes, and the quest has you leave the diagonals alone for now because they only matter at higher tiers. "The Apprentice's Orb" quest then lets you forge the Discipulus Orb of Vitae, which raises your Anima ceiling to 25,000 EV.[3]
  2. Tier II ("Tier II: The Second Ring" quest): the quest adds sixteen more runes in a second ring and four pillars capped in Blood Stained Glass, for 24 runes in total. "Tier II: The Magician's Orb" quest says you can only forge the Veneficus Orb of Vitae at this tier, and that it holds 150,000 EV.[3]
  3. Tier III ("Tier III: The Master's Orb" quest): the quest brings you to 52 runes with a third ring, and has you seal the four corners with Polished Bloodstone. This is where you forge the Magus Orb of Vitae, worth 1,000,000 EV, along with the Ritual Diviner [Dusk].[3]
  4. Tier IV ("Tier IV: The Archmage's Orb" quest): the quest brings you to 100 runes with one more ring, with a Hellforged Block closing each of the four cardinal points. Here you forge the Dominus Orb of Vitae, worth 5,000,000 EV.[3]
  5. Tier V ("Tier V: The Pinnacle" quest): the quest closes the widest ring for 172 runes in total, with tall pillars crowned with Crystal Cluster. The Divinus Orb of Vitae caps the ladder at 10,000,000 EV.[3]
Tip: The quest "Bottled Effects" quest says that if raising the altar feels slow, potioncrafting unlocks as soon as you hit Tier I. You can brew Alchemy Flask items to drink or throw in the meantime.[3]

What the quests line up between tiers

The quest chain leads you through the materials for the higher tiers in roughly this order.[3]

The pack changed the Athanor recipe, so check this one rather than relying on the mod's default.[4]

How does Neo Vitae work with other mods?

2 parts

Neo Vitae hooks into the rest of the pack mostly through its dusts and a couple of alchemy and crafting recipes. Everything below comes from recipes the pack added or changed, so these are not mod defaults.[4]

Dusts that smelt into other mods' items

The pack adds both smelting and blasting recipes that turn Neo Vitae dusts into materials from other mods. Either furnace type works, and the output is the same.[4]

Here is one of them as an example. The other dusts follow the same pattern.[4]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Neo Vitae?

6 parts

Everything for this mod lives in a single quest chapter called Neo Vitae. It starts with one altar and branches out into automation, rituals, Sentient gear, Spiritus crystals and the Endless Realm. The chapter ends at the top altar tier. Here is the order the quests unlock in.[3]

Opening moves

  1. "Welcome to Neo Vitae" quest is the start of the chapter. You place an Ara Vitae on flat stone.[3]
  2. Three quests unlock right after it. "The Blank Slate" quest asks for Tabula Rasa. "Throwing Daggers" quest asks for a Throwing Dagger and Spiritus Essence. "Bind a Novicius Orb" quest asks for your first orb, the Novicius Orb of Vitae.[3]
  3. "The Scribe's Tool" quest follows the Tabula Rasa quest and asks for the Arcane Scribe Tool.[3]
  4. "Blank Runes" quest needs both the Novicius Orb and Tabula Rasa quests done. It asks for a Blank Rune and leads into the altar tiers.[3]

Hellfire Forge and routing

"The Hellfire Forge" quest comes after the dagger quest and asks for the Hellfire Forge and a Petty Spiritus Gem. Three quests branch from it: "Early Blood Automation" quest (Spike Trap), "Sentient Steel" quest (Sentient Sword) and "Laying the Veins" quest (Routing Conduit, Input Routing Node and Output Routing Node). Laying the Veins then opens "Rerouting the Network" quest (Node Router) and "A Sluggish Heart Serves No One" quest (Routing Stack Upgrade and Routing Speed Upgrade).[3]

Altar tiers

The tier quests form the spine of the chapter. "Tier I: The Ring of Runes" quest comes after Blank Runes. Its text says the four cardinal slots of the first ring take specialized runes, and that the diagonals are left alone for now because they only matter at higher tiers. "The Apprentice's Orb" quest follows it. The Discipulus orb raises your Anima ceiling to 25,000 EV. "Tier II: The Second Ring" quest adds a second ring for 24 runes in total, and "Tier II: The Magician's Orb" quest then has you forge the Veneficus orb, worth 150,000 EV.[3]

Sigils, potions, rituals and armor

"Bottled Effects" quest unlocks after the Apprentice's Orb and asks for an Alchemy Flask. "A Sharper Point" quest follows it with a Tipped Throwing Dagger. "A Belt Full of Sigils" quest and "A Sense for Anima" quest both unlock after a quest called Circle of Intent. The first accepts any one of six sigils. The second asks for the Divination Sigil and the Seer's Sigil.[3]

"Rites and Rituals" quest comes after the Magician's Orb quest. It asks for the Master Ritual Stone, the Ritual Diviner and a Weak Activation Crystal. "The Sentient Shell" quest follows it, asking for the four Sentient armor pieces, and "Wear It In" quest then asks for an Upgrade Tome.[3]

Tau, the Athanor and Spiritus

"The Tau Harvest" quest also opens after the Magician's Orb quest and asks for Weak Tau and Strong Tau. It leads to "The Athanor" quest and the Athanor. That unlocks the Weak Blood Shard quest, which is the gate to Tier III. It also opens three side quests: "Alchemy of Ore" quest (Basic Cutting Fluid), "Enchantment Salvaging" quest (Sanguine Reverter) and "The Crucible's Greed" quest (Corrupted Dust and Iron Gravel).[3]

Once Tier III is done, three branches open. "Refining the Tau" quest asks for Tau Oil and leads to "Coaxing Crystals" quest. "The Aura Between Worlds" quest asks for the Spiritus Crucible and leads to "Reading the Aura" quest, then "Crystals from Nothing" quest, then "The Five Aspects" quest. That last quest accepts any one of four aspect crystals. The third branch is the Endless Realm.[3]

Endless Realm and the endgame

  1. "Highway to Hell" quest asks for a Standard Dungeon Key and opens the way into the Endless Realm.[3]
  2. "The Mines" quest asks for the Mine Entrance Key.[3]
  3. "The Foreman" quest has you fight the Foreman, a Daemonium Doloris.[3]
  4. "Demonite" quest asks for Raw Demonite.[3]
  5. "Hellforged Steel" quest asks for an Hellforged Ingot. After it come Tier IV and Tier V.[3]

Two quests sit off to the side. "Deeper Locks" quest asks for the Mine Dungeon Key and unlocks after a quest called Breaching the Veil. "Doubling Down on Runes" quest follows it and asks for Hellforged Parts.[3]

Which Neo Vitae config options matter?

3 parts

The one Neo Vitae config the sources show for this pack is . It is a big list of processing materials, and each entry says which stages the material goes through, what it smelts into and how much dust an ore gives. If you're planning ore processing around Neo Vitae, this is the file to check.[9]

How each material is set up

Most entries list three stages: fragment, gravel and dust. Iron, gold, copper, diamond, emerald and many others follow that pattern, and most set dust_yield_from_ore to 3.[9]

  • Iron smelts to Iron Ingot with a smelt_xp of 0.7. Gold smelts to Gold Ingot with a smelt_xp of 1, and copper smelts to Copper Ingot with a smelt_xp of 0.7.[9]
  • Coal is the odd one out. It only has the dust stage, its dust_yield_from_ore is 6 instead of 3, and its smelt_xp is 0.1. It also lists minecraft:coal as an extra input item.[9]
  • Netherite scrap is shown as Ancient Debris. It uses all three stages, smelts to Netherite Scrap with a smelt_xp of 2, and lists minecraft:ancient_debris as an extra ore item.[9]
  • Lapis, quartz and amethyst each have a smelt_xp of 0.2. Diamond and emerald are set to 1.[9]

Demonite and hellforged

Demonite only has the fragment and gravel stages, has no smelt_to target, and has a smelt_xp of 0. Its raw tag is c:raw_materials/hellforged, and it lists hellforged as an alias tag for both stages. The hellforged entry is dust only and smelts to Hellforged Ingot with a smelt_xp of 1.[9]

Other mods' materials

The pack extends this file well past vanilla metals. It adds entries whose smelt_to results come from other mods, such as alltheores, silentgems, allthemodium, modern_industrialization and mysticalagriculture. Many of these use tags like c:ores/... and c:ingots/..., so the entries line up with the rest of the pack's ore tags.[9]

Tip: Allthemodium, unobtainium and vibranium are the entries with generative set to false. Every other entry I can see in the file has it set to true.[9]

Unverified The sources don't include Neo Vitae's default materials file, so I can't confirm which of these values the pack changed from the mod defaults. Treat everything above as how the pack sets it, not as a list of changes.

What changed in Neo Vitae between versions?

1 part

All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 ships Neo Vitae 1.1.21. The pack first included this mod in version 2.0.3 or earlier, so you are already on the release described below.[2]

1.1.21

This is the Neo Vitae release in your pack. It is mostly about making the mod play nicely with filters and other mods, plus a couple of fixes.[2][10]

  • New item tags cover Orbs of Vitae (all orbs, plus one tag per tier), sigils, ritual tools, scribe tools, the Node Router, activation crystals, teleposer foci, dungeon keys and throwing daggers. That means backpack and pipe filters can match them. The Node Router also counts as a wrench now.[10]
  • Demonite Ore now carries the specific hellforged ore tag that other mods look for, alongside the general ore tag.[10]
  • The Training Bracelet tooltips and the Brilliance upgrade page no longer call Sentient Armor by its old name.[10]
  • The Lex Vitae's attack damage now scales with your stored spiritus the same way the Sentient Sword does, and the bonus shown on its tooltip is what it actually deals. Vindicta and Nihilum change its swing speed like they do for the sword.[10]
  • Translations were updated for many languages, including Simplified Chinese and Brazilian Portuguese. New translations are now contributed through pull requests on GitHub.[10]
Tip: If you build item filters in backpacks or pipes, the new tags in this release are worth trying. They let you match whole groups, like every sigil or every orb of a given tier, in one filter.[10]
