What is Gateways To Eternity?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.44 guide
Gateways To Eternity is included in this pack as version 5.0.2, built for Minecraft 1.21.1. It has been part of the pack for a while, so it isn't a recent addition.[1]
Unverified The available sources don't describe what Gateways To Eternity does, who it's aimed at, or where it fits in this pack's progression. Check the mod's own documentation or try it in-game for those details.
How do you get started with Gateways To Eternity?
3 parts
Everything in Gateways To Eternity starts with one item: the Gate Pearl. You use it on a block to summon a Gateway, so making one is your first job in this pack.[2]
Step 1: make your first Gate Pearl
The pack adds its own shapeless crafting recipe for the Gate Pearl, so you can get started without chasing the mod's other recipes. Here is the exact in-pack version:[3]
Crafting Shapeless
Ender Pearl

- any flower
- any flower

Step 2: know the rules before you throw it
A Gate Pearl only works if the new Gateway would not sit too close to another Gateway, based on the current spacing. If there is no room, you get a message that there is not enough space to open the Gateway.[2]
Once a Gateway is open, it fails in a burst of lightning in any of these cases:[2]
Step 3: try the other Gate Pearl recipes
The mod has its own Gate Pearl recipes too. Good examples to look at are the Enderman and Emerald Grove ones:[3]

The pack also adds a long list of shaped Gate Pearl recipes of its own. Some of the simpler ones to browse are the chicken and cow gates:[3]

One more thing to know: the pack has changed the Alex's Hell recipe from the mod's version, so check the recipe below instead of relying on mod defaults you may remember.[3]

How does Gateways To Eternity work?
5 parts
The sources for Gateways to Eternity centre on one item, the Gate Pearl. You use it on a block to summon a Gateway, which sends waves of mobs at you and pays out rewards. This section covers how a Gateway opens, how it fails, and how the pack defines the Gateways you can fight.[2]
Opening a Gateway
A Gate Pearl only works if the new Gateway wouldn't be too close to another Gateway, based on the current spacing. If there isn't room, you get the message "There's not enough space to open this Gateway".[2]
How a fight fails
An open Gateway collapses in a burst of lightning if any of these happen:[2]
- It can't spawn the next wave because there isn't enough space.[2]
- A mob from the wave walks too far away.[2]
- The wave timer runs out ("Wave Timer Expired").[2]
- A wave entity is removed without being killed.[2]
The good news is that rewards spawn from the Gateway as you earn them, so you don't have to wait for the very end to collect.[2]
How the pack defines a Gateway
Each Gateway is a data file in the pack's kubejs/data/gateways/gateways folder. A file sets a size, a colour, some rules, a list of waves, final rewards and failures. Every file shown in the sources here is size large, with both allow_discarding and player_damage_only set to true.[4][5][6][7][8]
Each wave lists its entities with a count, optional attribute modifiers, optional rewards, a max_wave_time and a setup_time. Once all waves are done, the Gateway's own rewards are paid out. They are entity loot rolls, meaning the drops of a chosen mob rolled a set number of times.[4][6]
Unverified The sources here don't say what allow_discarding and player_damage_only do in detail, or which time unit max_wave_time and setup_time use. Those details live in the Gateway data files and the mod itself, which the sources don't explain.
Example Gateways in this pack
Trials of Ignis starts with 5 blazes. The next wave brings 2 ignited revenants with attribute modifiers, and the last wave has 1 Ignis with 2 ignited revenants and 3 blazes. Setup times are 150, 150 and 240. Max wave times are 10,000, 10,000 and 18,000, so the final fight gets the longest timer. The Gateway's own rewards include 25 rolls of blaze loot.[6]
Gateway of the Giants uses Born in Chaos mobs: 3 lifestealers, then 10 infernal spirits, then 5 fallen chaos knights, then 5 missioners. The last two waves add modifiers. The fallen chaos knights get 0.5 on max health, and the missioners get 1.0 on max health and attack damage, plus 0.5 knockback resistance and 0.45 movement speed. Setup times are 150, 150, 300 and 400, and the final reward is 8 rolls of missioner loot.[4]
Trials of the Ancient Remnant mixes husks, skeletons and koboleton. The last wave spawns an ancient remnant defined with the NBT tag {has_necklace: 1b}, next to 5 husks and 5 koboleton. It has a setup time of 500 and a max wave time of 18,000.[7]
The Twilight Forest gate and the mutant monsters gate are boss rushes with no per-wave rewards. The Twilight Forest gate sends one boss per wave, and only the final reward is paid out: 1 roll of Snow Queen loot. The mutant monsters gate sends 2 of one mutant mob per wave, then pays 1 roll of loot per mutant type at the end. Every wave in both has a max wave time of 8,000 and a setup time of 300.[5][8]
Getting Gate Pearls
The recipe dump shows that the mod's own Gate Pearl recipes use the gateways:gate_recipe type, while the pack adds regular crafting recipes. The dump counts 21 shaped crafting recipes that make a Gate Pearl, and one shapeless recipe added by the pack is shown below.[3]

The pack also changed the Alex's Mobs hell recipe. What you see below is the pack's version, not the mod default.[3]

Unverified The language file has tooltips for endless modifiers, but the sources here don't explain how they work or how the gate_recipe recipes are carried out in-game. This site does hold Project Infinity 0.1's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How do you progress through Gateways To Eternity?
4 parts
Gateways To Eternity doesn't have a numbered tier list in this pack. What you progress through is the list of recipes that make a Gate Pearl. Every recipe in the dump produces that same pearl, and the recipe ids are named after gates, like cow_gate, wither_gate and trials_of_the_harbinger.[3]
The mod's own recipes use the gate_recipe type. The pack adds shaped crafting recipes on top, each one named after a gate. One of the mod's recipes, alexs_hell, is marked as changed by the pack.[3]
Starting out
The pack adds a shapeless crafting recipe for a Gate Pearl that uses an ender pearl plus 3 flowers of any kind. Here it is.[3]

The mod's own recipes named basic/slime, basic/blaze and basic/enderman also make a Gate Pearl, and the dump lists them as mod recipes. Here is the enderman one.[3]
Gate Recipe (gateways)
Recipe id: gateways:basic/enderman
Mod recipe, listed as unchanged by the pack.
Pack-added gate pearl recipes
The pack adds a shaped crafting recipe for a lot of gates, each tied to one item that changes from gate to gate. Animal gates like cow_gate ask for a simple item, while others pull in items from other mods.[3]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: gateways:gate_pearl/cow_gate
An example of an animal gate recipe added by the pack.
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: gateways:gate_pearl/warden_gate
This one asks for an item in the kubejs namespace.
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: gateways:gate_pearl/trials_of_the_harbinger
A trials gate recipe added by the pack.
Because several recipes use items from other mods, your progress in those mods affects which gates you can open. Examples are gate_pearl/coral_golem_gate, gate_pearl/trials_of_ignis, gate_pearl/trials_of_the_ancient_remnant, gate_pearl/born_in_chaos_gate, gate_pearl/mutant_monsters_gate and gate_pearl/twilight_forest_gate.[3]
Mod recipes with other inputs
The mod's own gate_recipe entries include cataclysm_ender, cataclysm_ignis, deeperdarker, netherexp, born_zombie and hellish_fortress. There is also endless/blaze, which uses a Gate Pearl as one of its inputs and gives a Gate Pearl back.[3]

Recipe id: gateways:endless/blaze
A mod recipe where a Gate Pearl is both an input and the result.

The pack also changed alexs_hell. The dump marks it as changed but doesn't show the original, so I can't tell you what the change was.[3]

What the fights look like
The pack changes at least two gate data files, and they show how its gates scale. The Gateway of the Giants is a large gate. It sends 3 lifestealers, then 10 infernal spirits, then 5 fallen chaos knights, then 5 missioners. The last two waves use attribute modifiers, and the missioner wave is the strongest of them, with max health and attack damage both at a multiplier of 1.0. Finishing the gate gives 8 rolls of missioner loot.[4][5]
The Mutant Monsters gate is also large. Each wave is 2 mutants, one wave each for the mutant creeper, mutant zombie, spider pig, mutant snow golem, mutant skeleton and mutant enderman. Every wave has a max_wave_time of 8,000 and a setup_time of 300. The final reward is 1 loot roll from each of those mutants.[5]
Unverified The waves and rewards of the other gates, such as basalz_gate, blitz_gate and cow_gate, live in the pack's kubejs/data/gateways/gateways data files. The sources here do not show them.
How does Gateways To Eternity work with other mods?
4 parts
Gateways To Eternity connects to the rest of the pack through one item: the Gate Pearl. Nearly every Gate Pearl recipe asks for something from another mod, and the pearl itself is also an ingredient in a couple of recipes from other mods.[3]
Pack-added Gate Pearl recipes
Most of the pearls you can craft come from shaped crafting recipes added by the pack. Each one follows the same pattern: one item from another mod, plus crying obsidian and obsidian, gives you the pearl for a specific gate. Here is which item goes with which gate.[3]
- Coral golem gate: Crystallized Coral Fragments.[3]
- Deepling warlock gate: Athame.[3]
- Trials of Ignis: Ignitium Ingot.[3]
- Trials of the Ancient Remnant: Eye of Desert.[3]
- Basalz, blitz and blizz gates: Basalz Rod, Blitz Rod and Blizz Rod respectively.[3]
- Born in Chaos gate: Transmuting Elixir. Gateway of the Giants: Ethereal Spirit.[3]
- Elder guardian gate: Guardian Scale.[3]
- Mutant monsters gate: Endersoul Hand.[3]
- Twilight Forest gate: Snow Queen Trophy.[3]
- Warden gate: Sculk Alloy Ingot.[3]
- Wither gate: Withering Soul.[3]

Gate recipes that use the mod's own recipe type
A few pearls use Gateways' own gate recipe type instead of a crafting grid. The Cataclysm ender, Cataclysm Ignis, Born in Chaos zombie, Deeper and Darker and Nether Expansion versions are listed as mod recipes, and they pull in items from Cataclysm, Born in Chaos, Deeper and Darker and Nether Expansion.[3]

Recipe id: gateways:cataclysm_ender

One recipe of this type was changed by the pack: the pearl recipe that uses an Alex's Mobs blood sac. Don't rely on the mod's default version of it.[3]

Where the Gate Pearl is used as an ingredient
The pearl also goes into recipes from other mods. The pack changed the Avaritia Endest Pearl recipe, which is made on an Extended Crafting table and includes a Gate Pearl alongside items from many other mods.[3]
Shaped Table (extendedcrafting)
Recipe id: avaritia:endest_pearl
The pack also added the Mystical Agriculture Wither Skeleton Seeds recipe. It is another Extended Crafting table recipe that needs a Gate Pearl.[3]
Shaped Table (extendedcrafting)
Recipe id: mysticalagriculture:wither_skeleton_seeds
A pack-edited gate: Gateway of the Giants
The pack also edits at least one gate itself. The Gateway of the Giants is a large gate with four waves, and every wave uses Born in Chaos mobs: 3 lifestealers, 10 infernal spirits, 5 fallen chaos knights and 5 missioners. The last two waves get stat modifiers. The gate's final reward is missioner loot with 8 rolls.[4]
What changed in Gateways To Eternity between versions?
Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2 ships Gateways To Eternity 4.2.6 (the file GatewaysToEternity-1.20.1-4.2.6.jar). The mod was already in the pack by 0.0.45.4 or earlier, so it has been there for a good while.[9]
The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod, so there are no pack-specific changes to report.[9]
Unverified The detailed entries from the mod's own 4.2.6 changelog were not available to this guide, so what changed in that release is unverified.
