What is Gateways To Eternity?
1 part
Gateways To Eternity is part of the pack's mod list. The pack ships version 5.1.0, built for Minecraft 1.21.1.[1]
Where you meet it in the pack
You run into this mod early. The "the_beginning" quest chapter has a quest, "More Animals More Now!" quest, whose task is to obtain a Gate Pearl. It unlocks after another quest in the same chapter, so it is one of the first steps of your progression.[2]
Unverified The sources I have don't describe what Gateways To Eternity does in detail, who it is best suited for, or how the Gate Pearl is obtained or used in this pack. They also don't show whether the pack changed any recipes or configs for the mod. Check in-game before relying on any of that.
How do you get started with Gateways To Eternity?
3 parts
Everything in Gateways To Eternity starts with one item: the Gate Pearl. You use it on a block to summon a Gateway. So your first job in this pack is simply to get a Gate Pearl.[3]
Why the Gate Pearl comes first
The Gate Pearl is also what the pack's quest book asks for. In the "the_beginning" chapter, quest "More Animals More Now!" quest has you obtain a Gate Pearl, and it unlocks after an earlier quest in the same chapter.[2]
Your first steps
- Craft a Gate Pearl using one of the recipes below. Each recipe makes the same item, so pick the one whose materials you can reach first.[4]
- Use the pearl on a block to summon a Gateway. It only works if the new Gateway would not be too close to another Gateway, based on the current spacing.[3]
- Deal with what the Gateway spawns. Rewards spawn from the Gateway as they are obtained, so you do not have to wait until the very end.[3]
Choosing a Gate Pearl recipe
This pack has many Gate Pearl recipes. Some are unchanged from the mod, some are changed by the pack, and some are added by the pack using items from other mods. The next two are the mod's own recipes, left untouched by the pack.[4]

This next one is a mod recipe that the pack has changed, so do not rely on the mod's default version of it.[4]

Further Gate Pearl recipes need items from other mods. Several Apotheosis tiered Gateway recipes are changed by the pack, and others are added by the pack's scripts. Browse those later, once you are ready to go beyond the basics.[4]
How does Gateways To Eternity work?
6 parts
Gateways To Eternity centres on one item, the Gate Pearl. You use it on a block to summon a Gateway, then deal with whatever comes out of it. The sources for this section cover how a pearl is used, how a Gateway can fail, and how pearls are crafted in the pack.[3]
Opening a Gateway
Using a Gate Pearl on a block summons a Gateway there. It only works when the new Gateway would not be too close to another Gateway, based on the current spacing. If a pearl refuses to open, try a spot further from your existing Gateways.[3]
How a Gateway run works
- Rewards spawn from the Gateway as they are obtained, so you do not have to wait until the end to see loot.[3]
- An open Gateway fails in a burst of lightning if it cannot spawn a mob.[3]
- It also fails if any active mob walks too far away.[3]
- And it fails if the wave timer elapses.[3]
The mod also has an Endless Modifier tooltip that shows a modifier count. The sources here do not explain how those modifiers work, so they are not covered.[3]
Getting Gate Pearls in this pack
The pack has plenty of Gate Pearl recipes. Some are the mod's own, some are mod recipes the pack changed, and some were added by the pack. Each recipe below is shown exactly as it is in the pack.[4]
Unchanged mod recipes
These Gateways recipes are the mod's own, with no pack changes.[4]

How do you progress through Gateways To Eternity?
4 parts
In this pack, every gateway starts with a Gate Pearl. What changes from one gateway to the next is the recipe that makes the pearl, so the recipes are the clearest way to see how the progression is laid out. Some are the mod's own, some are changed by the pack, and some are added by the pack.[4]
The quest book touches this early. In the "the_beginning" chapter, the quest "More Animals More Now!" quest has you hand in a Gate Pearl, and it unlocks after an earlier quest in that same chapter. It is the only Gateways quest in the sources, so the rest of the path below comes from the recipes.[2]
Basic pearls
The Enderman and Slime recipes are the basic ones. The pack changed the Enderman recipe, while the Slime recipe is the mod's own, unchanged.[4]

Themed gateway pearls
Emerald Grove is the mod's own recipe, unchanged. Hellish Fortress and Overworldian Nights are both changed by the pack, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults.[4]

Pack-added pearls
The pack adds its own Gate Pearl recipes through KubeJS: Fallen Kingdom, Fire and Ice, Life and Death, Priest Who Knew and Skulk. Their ingredients come from other mods, so expect to move between mods to unlock them.[4]

How does Gateways To Eternity work with other mods?
4 parts
Every link between this mod and the rest of the pack runs through the Gate Pearl. Many of the recipes that produce it ask for items from other mods, so getting your gates going turns into a little tour of the pack.[4]
Tiered recipes changed by the pack
The ascent, summit and pinnacle Gate Pearl recipes sit under the apotheosis namespace. The pack changed all of them, so don't rely on mod defaults here. Use the recipes below.[4]

Recipes added by the pack
The pack also adds its own shaped KubeJS recipes for the Gate Pearl: fallen_kingdom, fire_and_ice, life_and_death, priest_who_knew and skulk. These are the clearest cross-mod hooks, since each one combines items from other mods.[4]

Overworldian Nights
The overworldian_nights recipe is a gate recipe from the mod's own namespace, and the pack changed it. It mixes a few vanilla items with an item from another mod.[4]

Recipe id: gateways:overworldian_nights
This Gate Pearl recipe is changed by the pack.
Quest connection
The quest that touches this mod is "More Animals More Now!" quest in the the_beginning chapter. Its task is to obtain a Gate Pearl, and it comes after another quest in that chapter.[2]
Which FTB Skies 2 quests use Gateways To Eternity?
Gateways To Eternity shows up in only one place in the pack's quest book: the "the_beginning" chapter. The mod has a single quest there, "More Animals More Now!" quest, and it has no title in the quest book.[2]
The task is a simple item check. You need to hand in a Gate Pearl.[2]
The quest comes after "Eyes of Ender" quest, so you need to finish that one first.[2]
Unverified The quest book data doesn't show any rewards for this quest, so they are unconfirmed. It also doesn't show how you get the Gate Pearl, what the quests around it ask for, or whether other chapters involve this mod.
