What is Dimensional Pockets II?

1 part

Dimensional Pockets II lets you create customizable, pocket-sized dimensions for storage, automation and more. They work like portable bases you can reach from anywhere, and you expand them with modular upgrades such as crafting stations, charging docks and interfaces. The mod also adds some new armour, weapons and tools.[1]

This pack includes version 9.1.0.0 of the mod, in a 1.20.1 build. The mod needs Cosmos Library to run and has JEI integration.[1][2]

Where the quest book puts it

The mod adds modular upgrades for your pocket dimension. In the quest book, the Smelters chapter of the Production group has a quest in "Smelters", which asks you to get the Pocket Furnace Module. It has no prerequisite listed, and no quest in the chapter is listed as coming after it.[1][3]

Two more quests in the AllTheModium chapter, also in Production, ask for items from this mod, which the pack includes, and these matter for progression. a quest in "AllTheModium" asks you to get the Nether Star Shard and is one of the quests listed before a quest in "AllTheModium". That quest leads to a quest in "AllTheModium", which in turn leads to a quest in "AllTheModium".[2][4]

a quest in "AllTheModium" asks for the Enhanced Dimensional Ingot and also comes before the Unobtainium Ingot quest, alongside many other items such as the Starmetal Ingot, Draconic Core and Celestigem. Neither it nor the Nether Star Shard quest has a prerequisite listed, so both are open from the start of that chapter.[4]

The Enhanced Dimensional Ingot has a second quest, a quest in "Extended Crafting", in the Extended Crafting chapter (chapter 37 of 44, also in Production). That chapter has 248 quests and most are not covered here, so check the quest book for what it says.[5]

Tip: If you are chasing Unobtainium, plan for the Nether Star Shard and the Enhanced Dimensional Ingot early. The quest book lists both before the Unobtainium Ingot quest.[4]

How do you get started with Dimensional Pockets II?

6 parts

Dimensional Pockets II adds pocket dimensions for storage and automation, plus new armour, weapons and tools. Here is the order I would tackle the first items in this pack.[1]

Step one: get Dimensional Shards

The pack adds three Ex Deorum sieve recipes that turn plain Dust into a Dimensional Shard. All three were added by the pack, so this is where you start.[6]

Step two: shards into Dust, then Gems

One craft with a shard gives you 4 Dimensional Dust.[6]

Dust then becomes the Dimensional Gem. The pack changed this recipe, so don't rely on the mod's default. You will keep needing gems: they appear in the device base, the core, the focus and the armour and tool upgrades.[6]

Step three: build the Device Base

The Dimensional Device Base is the foundation for later devices such as the Dimensional Ejector and the Dimensional Energy Cell. The ejector's recipe is shown after this one. The pack changed the device base recipe too.[6]

Step four: split a Nether Star

One nether star makes 4 Nether Star Shard. You need one of these for the Dimensional Core, so it is worth doing early.[6]

Crafting Shapeless

The quest book asks you to hand in a Nether Star Shard, the item made by the recipe above. The quest is a quest in "AllTheModium", in the AllTheModium chapter (Production group, chapter 36 of 44 in the book), and the Starmetal Dust quest comes after it.[4][6]

Step five: aim for the Enhanced Ingot

The Enhanced Dimensional Ingot is the key to the Enhanced gear. The Enhanced bow, axe, boots and energy cell are all smithing upgrades that use it. The pack changed its recipe.[6]

The quest book asks you to hand in the Enhanced Dimensional Ingot twice: a quest in "Extended Crafting" in the Extended Crafting chapter and a quest in "AllTheModium" in AllTheModium. In AllTheModium, the Unobtainium Ingot quest comes after it.[4][5][6]

Optional: smelting inside your pocket

The Smelters chapter has a quest that asks you to hand in the Pocket Furnace Module: a quest in "Smelters". Its recipe is below.[3][6]

How does Dimensional Pockets II work?

7 parts

Dimensional Pockets II gives you your own pocket-sized dimensions that you can carry anywhere and fill with storage, automation and crafting stations. You customise them with modular upgrades, such as crafting stations, charging docks and interfaces. Here is what the sources tell us about how it all fits together.[1]

Pockets and their walls

The mod's language file names a Dimensional Pocket block and an Enhanced Dimensional Pocket block. Its advancements cover crafting each one, entering a pocket, and modifying a pocket with a Dimensional Wrench. A Dimensional Shifter is also part of the loop, and the advancements cover obtaining it, using it and upgrading it.[7]

According to the language file, the walls are where the functionality lives. It names a plain Dimensional Wall, a Wall Edge and a Wall Glass, plus a set of module walls for specific jobs. The shifting screen text also mentions allowed players, and it lets you allow or block those players from shifting.[7]

Wall modules

The module walls that appear in the language file include:[7]

  • Crafting and processing, as named in the language file: Anvil Module, Smithing Module, Crafter Module, Furnace Module, Blast Furnace Module, Armour Workbench Module and Upgrade Station Module.[7]
  • Power and fluids, as named in the language file: Generator Module, Charger Module, Energy Display Module and Fluid Display Module.[7]
  • Creative-only helpers, as named in the language file: Creative Energy Module and Creative Fluid Module.[7]
  • Connecting to the outside, as named in the language file: Connector Module.[7]

The language file gives the Generator Module a button to change its generation mode, and the Charger Module a button to change its current energy state.[7]

Connectors and automation

The Connector Module is the one the language file ties to connections. Its screen text describes buttons to change the connection type and to change the connector side state. There is also an advancement for creating a Connector inside of a Pocket.[7]

Armour Workbench

The help text in the language file describes the Armour Workbench Module buttons: apply the selected modules, remove installed modules and apply the current colours. It also describes colour slots that set the colour of the armour piece in the Focused Armour Slot, and a preview slot that shows how the armour will look before you apply the colours. Its armour slots give quick access for charging your helmet, chestplate, leggings and boots.[7]

The pack changed the recipe for the Armour Module Ender Chest, one of the armour modules, so don't rely on the mod's default recipe for it.[6]

Pocket rules and settings

The mod's settings screen describes a number of rules that apply to pockets. You can block commands, items and structures inside a pocket, and each of these has a toggle for whether the blocked things can still be used. You can also decide whether hostile mobs are stopped from spawning, whether the chunks inside the pocket dimension stay loaded, whether connected textures work, and whether the mod makes backups of pocket information.[7]

The settings screen text gives some of these settings limits. Internal pocket height is limited to between 15 and 255, and Enhanced Pockets are limited to between 31 and 255. The range between jumpable Focus Blocks is limited to between 4 and 32. The OP level needed to bypass blocked commands is limited to between 0 and 4.[7]

Unverified The pack ships no config file for this mod, so the sources do not show which values this pack actually uses for these settings. Check the in-game settings screen for the current values.

Crafting the core materials

The Dimensional Device Base is the key crafting component, and the pack changed its recipe from the mod's default.[6]

The pack also added an Ex Deorum sieve recipe for Dimensional Shard.[6]

You can craft the Dimensional Focus from a block of dimensional material, or turn a Pocket Focus Module back into one.[6]

Upgrading gear

Dimensional tools and armour use a dedicated upgrading recipe type. Enhanced versions are made at a smithing table, using the base piece, an Enhanced Dimensional Ingot and a Dimensional Smithing Template. The Enhanced Dimensional Axe is one example.[6]

How do you progress through Dimensional Pockets II?

6 parts

Dimensional Pockets II doesn't get a chapter of its own in the pack's quest book. It shows up in three chapters of the Production group, and the recipes below tell you the order to build things in.[3][4][5]

Where the quest book uses it

a quest in "Smelters" is in the Smelters chapter (chapter 42 of 44) and asks for the Pocket Furnace Module. The AllTheModium chapter (chapter 36 of 44) has a quest in "AllTheModium" for the Nether Star Shard and a quest in "AllTheModium" for the Enhanced Dimensional Ingot.[3][4]

In that chapter, the Nether Star Shard quest is one of the prerequisites of a quest in "AllTheModium", which leads to a quest in "AllTheModium" (3 ingots). The Enhanced Dimensional Ingot quest is listed directly as a prerequisite of a quest in "AllTheModium", alongside the Vibranium Ingot and Starmetal Ingot quests, among others.[4]

The Extended Crafting chapter (chapter 37 of 44) has its own a quest in "Extended Crafting", and it is one of the many quests listed before "The one and only" quest, the Ultimate Ingot.[5]

Tip: The Enhanced Dimensional Ingot isn't just a side item. The pack's Draconic Evolution fusion recipe for the Unobtainium Ingot uses it as one of its ingredients. That fusion is WYVERN tier, needs 50,000,000 total energy and uses 3 Starmetal Ingots as the catalyst.[8]

Tier 1: shards, ingots and gems

Everything starts with the Dimensional Shard. The pack adds five Ex Deorum sieve recipes that give you the shard, so you can farm it early. A Block of Dimensional Material also breaks back down into 4 shards.[6]

Sieve (exdeorum)

Recipe id: exdeorum:kjs/dimensionalpocketsii_dimensional_shard

The pack changed both of the next two recipes, so don't trust the mod's defaults here. They give you the Dimensional Ingot (2 per craft) and the Dimensional Gem.[6]

Dimensional Dust is the next step, and one craft makes 4. Dust is the base for the Dimensional Pearl and the Dimensional Thread, and both have their own recipes.[6]

Tier 2: devices, modules and cores

The Dimensional Device Base is the pack-changed building block for machines like the Dimensional Ejector and the Dimensional Energy Cell. The energy cell recipe is also changed by the pack.[6]

Modules are built on the Blank Module. The pack changed the recipes for the Armour Module Ender Chest, Armour Module Solar Panel, Armour Module Visor, Fluid Display Module and Pocket Generator Module. The Pocket Furnace Module keeps the mod's own recipe.[6]

For the Dimensional Core you need the Nether Star Shard, and a single nether star crafts into 4 of them. The Enhanced Dimensional Core recipe takes that Dimensional Core as an ingredient, so it comes after it.[6]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: dimensionalpocketsii:nether_star_shard

Tier 3: Dimensional gear

The recipe dump lists 13 recipes of the dimensionalpocketsii:upgrading type. They turn existing gear into the Dimensional versions, such as the Dimensional Axe, Dimensional Boots, Dimensional Bow and Dimensional Chestplate. The ones written out in the dump are shown as unchanged mod recipes.[6]

Tier 4: Enhanced gear

The pack changed the recipe for the Enhanced Dimensional Ingot, and it is the key to this tier.[6]

The recipe dump lists 14 smithing recipes. They take a Dimensional item, an Enhanced Dimensional Ingot and the Dimensional Smithing Template, and give you the enhanced version. That covers the Enhanced Dimensional Axe, Enhanced Dimensional Boots, Enhanced Dimensional Bow, Enhanced Dimensional Chestplate, Enhanced Dimensional Helmet and the Enhanced Dimensional Energy Cell.[6]

The top of the line is the Dimensional Elytraplate. Its recipe is an upgrading recipe that starts from the Enhanced Dimensional Chestplate.[6]

Upgrading (dimensionalpocketsii)

Recipe id: dimensionalpocketsii:dimensional_elytraplate

Other pack uses

  • The Dimensional Smithing Template is one of the ingredients in the pack's Fast Capacitor recipe.[9]
  • The Dimensional Pearl is used in the pack's Endest Pearl recipe.[10]
  • The pack raises the Enhanced Dimensional Ingot's stack size to 64.[11]

How does Dimensional Pockets II work with other mods?

6 parts

Dimensional Pockets II is mostly a self-contained mod, but this pack ties a few of its items into some big progression recipes. Here is where they show up.[1]

Getting Dimensional Shards from a sieve

The pack adds a sieve recipe in Ex Deorum that turns Dust into a Dimensional Shard. That gives you a way to get shards through sieving.[6]

Dimensional ShardAdded by the pack

Sieve (exdeorum)

Recipe id: exdeorum:kjs/dimensionalpocketsii_dimensional_shard

Unobtainium Ingot

The Unobtainium Ingot recipe is changed by the pack and made in Draconic Evolution fusion crafting. One of its inputs is the Enhanced Dimensional Ingot, alongside items from many other mods. The pack's script sets it to the WYVERN tier, with 3 Starmetal Ingot as the catalyst and 50,000,000 total energy.[6][8]

The pack also raises the Enhanced Dimensional Ingot's max stack size to 64, so it is easy to stockpile.[11]

The quest book follows this route. The AllTheModium chapter sits in the Production group (chapter 36 of 44) and has a quest for the Enhanced Dimensional Ingot, a quest in "AllTheModium". It also has a quest in "AllTheModium", which asks for the Nether Star Shard and comes before a quest in "AllTheModium". The Unobtainium Ingot quest, a quest in "AllTheModium", comes after the Enhanced Dimensional Ingot quest and the other ingredient quests.[4]

Endest Pearl

The Endest Pearl is made on an Extended Crafting table, and the pack changed this recipe. One of the many pearls and gems it needs is the Dimensional Pearl.[6]

Avaritia Infinity gear

Dimensional Pockets II gear is an ingredient in the pack's changed Infinity recipes, which are made on an Extended Crafting table. Most of them ask for both the normal and the Enhanced version of the matching piece: axe, boots, bow, helmet, hoe, leggings, pickaxe and shovel. They go into Nature's Ruin, Infinity Boots, Longbow of the Heavens, Infinity Helmet, Eternal Fertility, Infinity Pants, World Breaker and Planet Eater.[6]

The chestplate is a little different. The Infinity Chestplate recipe takes the Enhanced Dimensional Chestplate and the Dimensional Elytraplate.[6]

Pocket Furnace Module in the Smelters chapter

The Pocket Furnace Module has its own quest, a quest in "Smelters", in the Smelters chapter. That chapter is in the Production group (chapter 42 of 44) and sits next to quests for Iron Furnaces, Mekanism Extras and other furnace and smelter items. Many more quests in that chapter are in the quest book.[3]

Custom Capacitors

The pack's own script uses the Dimensional Pockets II upgrade template (Dimensional Smithing Template) as one input for the Fast Capacitor, next to other mods' upgrade templates.[9]

Which Project Infinity 0.1 quests use Dimensional Pockets II?

3 parts

Dimensional Pockets II shows up in three quest chapters in this pack, all in the Production group. In book order they are AllTheModium, Extended Crafting and Smelters.[3][4][5]

AllTheModium (chapter 36 of 44)

This chapter has 50 quests and uses two of the mod's items. Both quests have no prerequisite listed, so you can hand them in whenever you have the items.[4]

Both of those lines meet at a quest in "AllTheModium". Its prerequisites include the Enhanced Dimensional Ingot quest, the Starmetal Ingot quest and a quest in "AllTheModium", plus several other items. After the Unobtainium Ingot, the chapter continues with a quest in "AllTheModium" and a quest in "AllTheModium".[4]

Extended Crafting (chapter 37 of 44)

This is a big chapter with 248 quests. It has its own a quest in "Extended Crafting" quest, which again asks for the Enhanced Dimensional Ingot and has no prerequisite listed.[5]

That quest is one of the very many ingot quests that must be done before "The one and only" quest, which asks for the Ultimate Ingot.[5]

Smelters (chapter 42 of 44)

The Smelters chapter has 41 quests, and a quest in "Smelters" is one of them. It asks for the Pocket Furnace Module and has no prerequisite listed, so it is not gated behind another quest.[3]

What changed in Dimensional Pockets II between versions?

1 part

Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2 ships Dimensional Pockets II 9.1.0.0 (the 1.20.1 universal jar). The mod was first included in pack version 0.0.45.4 or earlier, so it has been in the pack for a while.[2]

9.1.0.0

The mod's own changelog for 9.1.0.0 is very short. It lists the library version as 10.6.0.0, and a single entry labelled "forgeupdate" that goes from 47.1.33 to 47.3.0. There are no gameplay changes listed for this release.[12]

Unverified No pack changelog entries for Dimensional Pockets II were available, so which pack release changed the mod's version, and what changed in between, is unconfirmed.
