What is Ender IO?
1 part
Ender IO is a full-featured tech mod. It brings machines, conduits, inventory management, armor, tools, weapons and even mobs. If you like building automated setups and moving items, fluids and power around your base without a mess of pipes, this mod is for you.[1]
Conduits are the heart of it. The mod lists item, fluid, energy and redstone conduits, plus Applied Energistics 2 ME, Refined Storage and Mekanism chemical conduits.[1]
This pack ships Ender IO 8.2.12-beta. The mod is being rewritten from the ground up for the latest Minecraft, and its team says some features have not been ported yet. If you remember something from an older version, it may not be here.[1][2]
Where it fits in the pack's progression
Ender IO items turn up in several quest chapters, so you will meet the mod gradually. The quest entries have no titles, so all I can confirm is which items they ask for.[3][4][5][6][7][8][9]
- Technology chapter: it starts with Grains of Infinity in "EnderIO" quest. After that comes the Alloy Smelter in "Alloy Smelter" quest, and the SAG Mill with a grinding ball in "SAG Mill" quest. The Slice'N'Splice follows the alloy smelter in "Slice'N'Splice" quest.[3]
- Power chapter: "Capacitor Banks" quest accepts a Basic Capacitor Bank, an Advanced Capacitor Bank or a Vibrant Capacitor Bank.[6]
- Processing and automation chapter: "EnderIO Conduits" quest asks for the Yeta Wrench and a conduit.[7]
- Gearing up chapter: the Enchanter in a quest in "Gearing Up" and the dark steel sword, called The Ender, in "The Ender" quest.[4]
- Exploration and combat chapter: a quest in "Exploration" covers the Staff of Travelling and the Travel Anchor.[5]
- Resource generation chapter: "Custom Spawners" quest asks for the Soul Vial, Soul Binder, Broken Spawner and Powered Spawner.[8]
- Later on, "Enchanted Book Production" quest in the World Engine tier 5 chapter asks for the Enchanter again, alongside the Printer.[9]
How do you get started with Ender IO?
3 parts
Ender IO is a full-featured tech mod with machines, conduits, tools and more. In this pack, its early steps are laid out as quests in the technology chapter, so you can follow them in order. Here is what to make first and why.[1][3]
Your first steps, in order
- Get Grains of Infinity. It is the first quest in the technology chapter ("EnderIO" quest), and the next quests in the chapter come after it. The SAG Mill can turn deepslate cobblestone into grains plus regular cobblestone.[3][10]
- Craft the Alloy Smelter ("Alloy Smelter" quest). It is the next quest after the grains, and the Slice'N'Splice quest comes after it.[3]
- Craft the SAG Mill together with a grinding ball ("SAG Mill" quest). The quest accepts several grinding ball types. The SAG Mill tooltip says its output chance is modified by the grinding ball.[3][11]
- Make a Yeta Wrench. It is part of the processing and automation quest ("EnderIO Conduits" quest), which asks for the wrench and a conduit.[7]
- Set up power with a Basic Capacitor Bank. The power chapter quest ("Capacitor Banks" quest) accepts the Basic, Advanced or Vibrant version.[6]
- Start laying conduits. The same processing and automation quest asks for a conduit alongside the wrench, and Conduit Binder appears in the conduit recipes, so it is worth making early.[7][10]

Where to go next
Once the Alloy Smelter is done, the technology chapter continues with the Slice'N'Splice ("Slice'N'Splice" quest). Other Ender IO quests cover the Enchanter, The Ender, Staff of Travelling with the Travel Anchor, and the Soul Vial, Soul Binder and spawner line.[3][4][5][8]
How does Ender IO work?
6 parts
Ender IO machines all run on energy, measured in uI. Each machine has its own energy capacity and a base usage per tick, and this pack sets them in the machines config file. Here is how the power, machine, obelisk, spawner and conduit side fits together.[12]
Power storage and generation
Capacitor banks are your main buffer. A basic bank holds 500,000 uI, an advanced bank 2,000,000 and a vibrant bank 4,000,000. The pack leaves these at the mod defaults. They are set in energy.capacitorBankCapacity.basic, energy.capacitorBankCapacity.advanced and energy.capacitorBankCapacity.vibrant.[12]
The Advanced Capacitor Bank is crafted like this:[10]
Crafting Shaped
| any conductive alloy ingot | any conductive alloy ingot | |
| any redstone storage block | ||
| any conductive alloy ingot | any conductive alloy ingot |
Recipe id: enderio:advanced_capacitor_bank
The Basic Capacitor is a separate item from the banks, and its recipe is below. The Stirling Generator uses capacitors, because its fuel efficiency goes up with each capacitor level.[10][12]

| Empty slot | any gold nugget | any grain of infinity dusts |
| any gold nugget | any copper ingot | any gold nugget |
| any grain of infinity dusts | any gold nugget | Empty slot |
Recipe id: enderio:basic_capacitor
The Stirling Generator produces 40 uI/t as a base and holds 64,000 uI. Its base burn speed is 0.375 burn ticks per machine tick. Fuel efficiency starts at 80 percent and rises by 20 for each capacitor level. All of these are the mod defaults.[12]
The Soul Engine holds 100,000 uI, with a burn speed of 1 and a generation setting of 1. The photovoltaic modules give 4 (energetic), 16 (pulsating) and 64 (vibrant). The config describes the energetic rate as the production at midday without rain or thunder.[12]
Machine energy use
These are the base figures in the pack. Most machines are at the mod defaults.[12]
- Alloy Smelter: 20 uI/t, capacity 64,000. A vanilla smelting item costs 1,500 uI.[12]
- Sag Mill: 20 uI/t, capacity 64,000.[12]
- Slicer: 30 uI/t, capacity 100,000.[12]
- Soul Binder: 60 uI/t, capacity 128,000.[12]
- Painting Machine: 30 uI/t, capacity 64,000, and 2,400 uI for each painting operation.[12]
- Crafter: capacity 64,000, and 3,200 uI for a crafting recipe.[12]
- Farming Station: 40 uI/t. Impulse Hopper: 16 uI/t. Drain and Niard: 10 uI/t each.[12]
- Wireless Charger: capacity 128,000, charge rate 60 uI/t, upkeep 2 uI/t, base range 16.[12]
The pack's own helper scripts for adding Sag Mill recipes set 2,400 energy per recipe. Its helper for alloy smelting recipes sets 3,200 energy and 0.3 experience, and marks them as not vanilla smelting.[13]
Processing recipes

The Sag Mill also makes plant matter, such as Clippings and Trimmings and Twigs and Prunings. It also makes Grains of the End. The pack changed the Oritech grinder recipe for that powder, so you have a second way to make it.[10]

The Soul Binder turns a Soularium Grinding Ball into an Animal Token.[10]
The Painting Machine handles the painted blocks. The pack changed its Conduit Facade painting recipe, but the dump doesn't show how it differs from the mod's.[10][11]
Painting (enderio)
Recipe id: enderio:painting/painted_crafting_table
The pack adds its own source of Grains of Infinity. A piece of gravel sitting inside fire can drop them. In the mod config, a fire must be at least 260 ticks old to spawn Infinity Powder, and up to 500 fires are tracked per dimension.[14][15]
Obelisks
The obelisks have base ranges set in the config. The Attractor reaches 8 blocks, while the Aversion, Inhibitor and Relocator each reach 16. The Attractor does not pull in bosses, because that option is off.[12]
Powered Spawner
The Powered Spawner holds 100,000 uI and uses 20 uI/t. Spawning a mob that has no custom spawner soul data costs 50,000 uI, and each spawn produces 4 mobs. The spawner switches off if 2 entities are in range, and it loses efficiency beyond 10 spawners. Spawn type is set to NEW, which spawns the same entity types as the soul vial rather than an exact copy.[12]
Conduits and automation
Ender IO's conduit types are item, fluid, energy, redstone, Applied Energistics 2 ME, Refined Storage and Mekanism chemicals. In this pack you can mix and match tiers of energy, fluid, item and chemical conduits. ME conduits have an idle power usage of 0, for both normal and dense.[1][16][17]
Conduits are held together with Conduit Binder Composite, which makes 8 per craft.[10]

How do you progress through Ender IO?
6 parts
Ender IO in this pack isn't one long quest line. The quests are spread across several chapters, and each one asks for a machine or item from the mod. The most connected chain is in the Technology chapter, so that's where you want to start.[3][4][5][6][7][8][9]
Step 1: Grains of Infinity
The Technology chapter starts with "EnderIO" quest, which asks for Grains of Infinity. Two quests unlock after it: the Alloy Smelter and the SAG Mill.[3]
The pack changes how you get this item. It has an XyCraft Machines extractor recipe for Grains of Infinity that the pack modified, plus a second extractor recipe for a campfire variant that the pack added. The recipe data doesn't show any item inputs for either one. You can also get the grains by SAG-milling deepslate cobblestone, which gives Grains of Infinity and regular cobblestone.[10]
The grains matter beyond the quest. They're used in the recipe for the Basic Capacitor and for the Yeta Wrench.[10]
Step 2: Core machines
"Alloy Smelter" quest asks for the Alloy Smelter. "SAG Mill" quest asks for the SAG Mill plus one grinding ball. The quest accepts any of several balls, including the Pulsating Alloy Grinding Ball, Energetic Alloy Grinding Ball, Vibrant Alloy Grinding Ball, Conductive Alloy Grinding Ball, Redstone Alloy Grinding Ball, Soularium Grinding Ball, Dark Steel Grinding Ball and End Steel Grinding Ball.[3]

Power: capacitor banks
The Power chapter's "Capacitor Banks" quest accepts any one of the Basic Capacitor Bank, Advanced Capacitor Bank or Vibrant Capacitor Bank. So you only need one of the three to finish the quest, but all three tiers have in-pack recipes.[6][10]

Gear, travel and logistics
- a quest in "Gearing Up" in Gearing Up asks for the Enchanter, and "The Ender" quest asks for The Ender, which shows up as The Ender.[4]
- a quest in "Exploration" in Exploration and Combat asks for the Staff of Travelling and a Travel Anchor.[5]
- "EnderIO Conduits" quest in Processing and Automation asks for the Yeta Wrench and a conduit.[7]

For the conduit quest, the pack adds its own conduit recipes using a Conduit Binder. They cover AE2 covered, dense covered and glass cables, Refined Storage cables, and Mekanism basic, advanced and elite pressurized tubes. Ender IO's own energy, item, fluid and redstone conduit recipes are still there as well.[7][10]

Late game
"Enchanted Book Production" quest sits in the World Engine Tier 5 chapter. It asks for the Enchanter again, this time alongside the Create Enchantment Industry printer, and it unlocks only after another quest in that chapter. If you already made the Enchanter earlier, you're halfway there.[9]
How does Ender IO work with other mods?
5 parts
Ender IO doesn't stand alone in this pack. The pack's recipes and quests tie it into Mekanism, AE2, Create, ProjectE, Gateways and more. Here is where those links show up.[10]
Mekanism pressurized tubes become conduits
The pack adds recipes that connect Mekanism's pressurized tubes with Ender IO's Conduit Bundle. Look for the Conduit Binder in the tube recipes, and for Infused Alloy and Reinforced Alloy in the two upgrade recipes. The recipe dump doesn't say which conduit type each recipe produces, so check the result in the recipe viewer. The recipes are shown below.[10]

World Engine recipes
Several World Engine recipes, which are Custom Machinery recipes added by the pack, take Ender IO items as inputs next to items from other mods. The dump doesn't list their outputs, so only the inputs are confirmed here. These are the Ender IO items they use:[10]
- Vibrant Bimetal Gear is used in the avaritia_compressor recipe, together with items from Avaritia, Oritech, Just Dire Things and MFFS.[10]
- Soularium Ingot is used in the enchanted_book_reaper recipe, and Soul Vial in the enchanted_book_soulbound recipe. Both also use items from Actually Additions and Occultism or Modular Routers.[10]
- Fused Quartz is used in the energizing_orb recipe, with items from Mekanism and Powah.[10]
- Vibrant Alloy Ingot and the liquid darkness fluid are used in the euphonium recipe, with items from Cataclysm, Chicken Roost and MFFS.[10]
- Vibrant Crystal is used in the interdiction_torch recipe, with items from Occultism and ProjectE.[10]
- Redstone Alloy Ingot is used in the pipez_energy_pipe recipe, with Steel Ingot from the pack's materials.[10]
- Dark Steel Ingot is used in the shadow_steel recipe, with Create's Shadow Steel.[10]
- Broken Spawner is used in the soul_cage recipe, with items from Apothic Enchanting, Chicken Roost and Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks.[10]
Quest links
The one quest that pairs Ender IO with another mod is "Enchanted Book Production" quest in the World Engine tier 5 chapter. It asks for the Enchanter and Create Enchantment Industry's Printer.[9]
Which FTB StoneBlock 4 quests use Ender IO?
2 parts
Ender IO shows up in seven quest chapters in this pack. Every one of these quests is untitled, so they are identified by their tasks. Most ask you to obtain a machine or item rather than do anything complicated.[3][4][5][6][7][8][9]
Technology chapter (the only clear chain)
This chapter has the only Ender IO quest chain with a confirmed order. The starting point is "EnderIO" quest, which asks for Grains of Infinity. Two quests unlock after it.[3]
- "EnderIO" quest: hand in Grains of Infinity.[3]
- "Alloy Smelter" quest: get an Alloy Smelter. This quest unlocks after the Grains of Infinity quest.[3]
- "SAG Mill" quest: get a SAG Mill and also one grinding ball. Several grinding balls are accepted, for example Pulsating Alloy Grinding Ball, Energetic Alloy Grinding Ball, Vibrant Alloy Grinding Ball, Dark Steel Grinding Ball or End Steel Grinding Ball. This quest also unlocks after the Grains of Infinity quest, so it runs in parallel with the Alloy Smelter quest.[3]
- "Slice'N'Splice" quest: get a Slice'N'Splice. This quest unlocks after the Alloy Smelter quest.[3]
Other chapters
- Gearing Up: a quest in "Gearing Up" asks for an Enchanter, and "The Ender" quest asks for The Ender, listed as The Ender.[4]
- Exploration and Combat: a quest in "Exploration" asks for both the Staff of Travelling and a Travel Anchor.[5]
- Power: "Capacitor Banks" quest accepts any one of Basic Capacitor Bank, Advanced Capacitor Bank or Vibrant Capacitor Bank, so you can submit whichever tier you build first.[6]
- Processing and Automation: "EnderIO Conduits" quest asks for a Yeta Wrench plus a conduit.[7]
- Resource Generation: "Custom Spawners" quest asks for four items: Soul Vial, Soul Binder, Broken Spawner and Powered Spawner.[8]
- World Engine, Tier 5: "Enchanted Book Production" quest asks for an Enchanter together with the printer from Create Enchantment Industry. It unlocks after another quest in that chapter, which is not an Ender IO quest.[9]
Unverified The sources don't say how the chapters are ordered relative to each other, only the dependencies within the technology chapter and the one listed in World Engine, Tier 5. Quest rewards for these quests are also not shown.
Which Ender IO config options matter?
6 parts
Ender IO is mostly left at its mod defaults here. The machines config marks a few energy usage values as changed, and everything else listed below either matches the mod default or has no default shown, so in those cases I just give you the pack's value.[12]
What the pack changed
These machines run cheaper than in the base mod. All values are in uI/t.[12]
- energy.aversion.usage is 10 here (mod default 20).[12]
- energy.inhibitor.usage is 10 here (mod default 20).[12]
- energy.relocator.usage is 10 here (mod default 20).[12]
- energy.wiredCharger.usage is 30 here (mod default 60).[12]
Obelisks and spawners
Obelisk ranges are at their defaults: obelisks.attractorRange is 8, while obelisks.aversionRange, obelisks.inhibitorRange and obelisks.relocatorRange are all 16. obelisks.attractorAttractBosses is set to false, so the Attractor Obelisk does not attract bosses.[12]
The powered spawner is also at its defaults. poweredSpawner.spawnAmount is 4, poweredSpawner.defaultSpawnEnergyCost is 50,000, and poweredSpawner.maxEntities is 2. poweredSpawner.maxSpawners is 10, and poweredSpawner.spawnType is "NEW", which spawns the same entity types as the soul vial instead of exact copies.[12]
items.soulVials.allowSpawners is false, so soul vials cannot change spawners. blocks.brokenSpawner.dropChance is 1, which is the mod default.[15]
Power and storage
- energy.capacitorBankCapacity.basic is 500,000, the mod default.[12]
- energy.capacitorBankCapacity.advanced is 2,000,000, the mod default.[12]
- energy.capacitorBankCapacity.vibrant is 4,000,000, the mod default.[12]
- energy.stirlingGenerator.generation is 40 uI/t, the mod default.[12]
- energy.photovoltaicCellRates.energetic is 4, the mod default.[12]
- energy.photovoltaicCellRates.pulsating is 16, the mod default.[12]
- energy.photovoltaicCellRates.vibrant is 64, the mod default.[12]
Conduits
You can mix conduit tiers freely. conduits.canMixEnergyConduitTiers, conduits.canMixFluidConduitTiers and conduits.canMixItemConduitTiers are all true, and so is mekanism.canMixChemicalConduitTiers for chemical conduits.[16][17]
Travel staff
Travel distances are at their defaults. items.travelling.blinkRange is 24, items.travelling.blockToBlockRange is 96, and items.travelling.itemToBlockRange is 192. items.travelling.energyUse is 1,000 and items.travelling.maxEnergy is 100,000, both also the mod defaults.[15]
On the client side, behavior.travelKeyHoldDelayTicks is 8 ticks before the Staff of Traveling keybind counts as held for anchor teleports.[19]
Dark Steel empowered upgrade
The armory config lists its values without mod defaults, so these are simply what the pack uses for the empowered upgrade's energy storage.[20]
- darksteel.upgrades.empowered.maxEnergy_l1 is 100,000.[20]
- darksteel.upgrades.empowered.maxEnergy_l2 is 150,000.[20]
- darksteel.upgrades.empowered.maxEnergy_l3 is 250,000.[20]
- darksteel.upgrades.empowered.maxEnergy_l4 is 1,000,000.[20]
What changed in Ender IO between versions?
4 parts
FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 ships Ender IO 8.2.12-beta, and the mod has been in the pack since 1.0.0 or earlier. Below are the notable changes from the mod's own changelogs, newest line last.[2]
Unverified The sources here include no pack changelog entries for Ender IO, so any change the pack itself made to the mod is not shown in this section.
8.0 alpha hotfixes
Version 8.0.5-alpha fixed a significant conduit network slowdown caused by a cache not being cleared, and sorted out dense and normal ME conduits connecting. Version 8.0.6-alpha fixed a crash-on-load issue with conduits, and 8.0.7-alpha fixed a hang-on-load when using the attractor obelisk.[21][22][23]
8.1.1-beta
- Energy throttling was removed, and machines that send energy now distribute it evenly.[24]
- A whitelist tag was added for capturing and spawning mobs.[24]
- Item conduits can be upgraded in place again.[24]
8.2 line: mixed-tier conduits
Version 8.2.0-alpha is the big one. Energy, item, fluid and chemical conduits of different tiers can now connect to one another, with transfer speeds reduced when travelling through a lower tier. Conduits always take the shortest path, and distance is now counted in conduit blocks. The changelog says this can be enabled or disabled per conduit type in the mod's config.[25]
- Energy conduits are peer-to-peer again, so they no longer have an energy buffer. Energy stored in them at the time of the change was voided.[25]
- Fluid and chemical locking was removed, so those conduits support any number of fluids or chemicals at a time.[25]
- All tiers of fluid and chemical conduit now support priority, like item and energy conduits.[25]
- The limited item filter was added.[25]
- Grinding ball data moved to a NeoForge data map, so add-ons such as Ender IO Kube JS need time to update.[25]
Version 8.2.2-alpha then fixed a crash caused by disconnecting two conduits of differing tiers.[26]
8.2 betas
- 8.2.5-beta added keybinds and Curios support to the staff of travelling and the electromagnet, and fixed energy conduits that were broken by the previous update.[27]
- 8.2.6-beta rewrote solar panels, removed the logs to sticks recipe, and changed how machines find tasks, which should reduce activity flickering.[28]
- 8.2.7-beta buffed some alloy recipes to return more metal depending on the number of input ingots, and buffed the photovoltaic recipe. It also added a config flag for setting spawner mobs with a soul vial, which the changelog says is disabled by default.[29]
- 8.2.9-beta added a potential fix for both energy conduit poor performance and crashes, and 8.2.10-beta fixed loading conduit data from saved data and increased the pickup range for vacuum blocks.[30][31]
- 8.2.11-beta discards networks corrupted by the update from 8.0.7 to 8.2.9, and fire water can now properly be used for fire crafting.[32]
- 8.2.12-beta, the version in this pack, added tooltips to item, fluid and redstone filter slots and fixed several bugs, including self-feeding energy conduits, a powered spawner putting too many items in its output, and machines duplicating items under specific conditions.[2][33]
