Speed Modules can be used to upgrade many MFFS machines, generally speeding up their performance. It can also increase the generation rate of the Coercion Deriver and the Fortron transfer limit of the Fortron Capacitor. Capacity Modules increase the amount of Fortron a machine can hold at once.
Needs: Modular Force Field SystemAsks for:Capacity Module,
Speed Module
- Molecular Metamorpher
A Molecular Metamorpher is a device that uses experience from a bound Obelisk to infuse materials. This can make certain recipes for the mod cheaper, but is also a required method of crafting for some of Cognition's resources. This is further expanded on with a Transforming Focus, converting various vanilla items into niche variants. All xp levels listed in crafting use point values, and will not take any more experience levels than needed. Item slots can also be locked to enable external automation.

Needs: Andesite CasingAsks for:Deployer
- Storing Fortron
The Fortron Capacitor is required in every MFFS system to act as a Fortron buffer and transfers it throughout the registered Frequency. The large button in the middle of the UI adjusts how the Capacitor distributes Fortron throughout a system. Each Speed Module increases its transfer rate. Each Scale Module increases the base working range from a 15 block radius by 1 per module. Each Capacity Modules increases the storage capacity.
Needs: Modular Force Field SystemAsks for:Fortron Capacitor
- Biometric Identifier
The Biometric Identifier is a requirement for making the Forcefield and the Interdiction Matrix function on an individual level, such as being able to sneak to walk through field blocks. Any player not sneaking inside a field block will take instantaneous infinite damage. You will need an Identification Card registered to yourself and one per any relevant players. These registered cards are placed into slots in the Identifier machine. Other players can be registered by sneak + right-clicking them with the card. GUI Breakdown: The first slot is for allowing/disallowing various "rights" to the card's registered player. The second slot will copy the rights of a card in the first slot onto any card placed into the second. The third slot grants all rights to the card's registered player. The Identifier will not turn on without a card in this slot. The remaining 9 slots will apply the defined rights to the relevant player when a card is placed inside.
Needs: Storing FortronAsks for:Biometric Identifier,
Identification Card
- Interdiction Matrix
While only being able to operate in a radius (1 block per scale module), the Interdiction Matrix is no less powerful for it. When powered by Fortron and with a Biometric Identifier on its frequency, it can use installed modules to perform various key functions, such as: killing hostile mobs, denying block interaction without use of chunk claims or among team members, and warning the general public that they're getting too close to that nuclear mishap (not your fault)
Needs: Biometric IdentifierAsks for:Interdiction Matrix
- Matrix Motivators
The Interdiction Matrix has 8 slots available for Modules that work off the registration and rights defined in a system's Biometric Identifier. Warning Modules will increase the additional warning range of the Matrix by 1 block/module. By default, there is a 3 block radius beyond the range of other modules that alerts unregistered players that they may be affected by the Matrix's actions. This is the only module that has a stacking effect. Block Access Modules prevent interaction with levers, machines, and the like for players without the right to bypass it. Block Alter Modules act similarly to the above module, but disallow the breaking and placement of blocks altogether. Confiscation Modules can be very nasty in multiplayer. Using the other 9 slots in the Matrix, up to 9 items can be selected to take from or leave in the inventory of unregistered players, with anything taken being dropped at the matrix or placed in adjacent inventories. This applies to armor as well. Be mindful when using this on normally friendly servers... Anti-Friendly, -Hostile, and -Personnel Modules will cause the matrix to kill animals, hostile creatures, and unregistered players respectively with extremely high damage. An Anti-Spawn Module will prevent any and all mobs from spawning in the working radius of the matrix.
Needs: Interdiction MatrixAsks for:Anti-Friendly Module,
Anti-Hostile Module,
Anti-Personnel Module,
Anti-Spawn Module,
Block Access Module,
Block Alter Module
- Foundry Drains
A Foundry Drain (or most other modded Tanks) with a Foundry Tap on it can extract the molten metals you create onto a Casting Table. - Casting
Casts are used to shape your metals for tools, weapons and armor, or ingots and other forms. They are created by pouring Molten Steel onto an item of similar shape. You can select which fluid gets poured out by selecting it within the Controller, then simply click a drain with the Casting Basin below to get out your material. This process can be automated with redstone.
Needs: Foundry DrainsAsks for:Gear Cast,
Gem Cast,
Ingot Cast,
Nugget Cast,
Plate Cast,
Rod Cast
- Experience Extras
The Precision Dispeller allows the selective stripping of unwanted enchantments from items and can remove curses at the cost of 30 levels. Binding this device to an Obelisk allows the XP gains and costs to use the Obelisk's storage instead of the player's when able to. Once bound to an Experience Obelisk, an Experience Fountain can be activated with redstone to spill XP from the Obelisk into the world at certain rates. This also happens whenever a player stands on top. Right clicking a bound Fountain with certain items can infuse them with XP.
Needs: Cognition: Using your KnowledgeAsks for:Experience Fountain,
Precision Dispeller
- Lens Of Certain Death

Needs: Atomic ReconstructorAsks for:Lens of Certain Death,
Lens of Color,
Lens of Detonation,
Lens of Disenchanting,
Lens of the Miner
- Force Field Projector
Force Field Projectors consume Fortron to create a procedurally regenerating area of blocks. It doesn't do much without a Mode to work from, but it's what makes all the magic technology happen! Each change in the interface will cause the Projector to delete the current projection and rebuild the new one, so be mindful of how often you make changes. Larger Force Fields will negatively affect performance. Matrix Slots accept various Modules that add to/tweak how the Projector and shield blocks function, such as making them silent, filling the affected area, or destroying terrain. The red Mode Slot in the center defines the basic shape of the projected area. The 12 Field Slots are for Scale, Translation, and Rotation Modules, which help define the area your Projector will build on each of the three axis: N/S, E/W, Up/Down.
Needs: Storing FortronAsks for:Force Field Projector
- Define the Field
Modes and Modules instruct the Projector on how to function. Shape Modes define the form Force Field Blocks will be placed in and Directional Modules (next quest) specify its placement in the world. An Inverter Module in the matrix slots will fill the entire projected volume with field blocks instead of just creating an outline. More mode details on the next pages. Cube Mode respects the directions of scale modules along an axis, and requires each of the three axes to be defined to form an enclosed field. Sphere Mode treats every Scale module in the field slots as a single radius addition, allowing you to encase a vast area at the cost of reduced shape customization. Tube Mode is nearly identical to Cube Mode, but has two of the resulting faces open. Pyramid Mode forms a 4-sided pyramid with points along the horizontal axes, requiring all three axes to be defined, respecting Up/Down directions for height. Cylinder Mode uses the horizontal axis as a radius, and the Up/Down axis as one total height. Custom Mode can be used to set both opposing corners of an area. Sneak + Right-Clicking will set that field structure on any non-air blocks within that area. Sneak + Right-Clicking the air will clear the selection. This mode ignores Scale Modules, and defaults its origin to the center of the selected area. A Camouflage Module will copy the selected blocks instead of its normal behavior.
Needs: Force Field ProjectorAsks for:Cube Mode,
Custom Mode,
Cylinder Mode,
Inverter Module,
Pyramid Mode,
Sphere Mode
- Affecting the Area
A Disintegration Module can be used on its own to break any existing blocks where the field would generate and drop them into the world as items. When a Collection Module is also present, the projector can place those items into an adjacent chest or other inventory. Stabilization Modules will cause a projector to take block items from an adjacent chest/inventory and replace the field with said blocks. Sponge Modules affect the entire space enclosed by a mode's field, evaporating all fluids present within.
Needs: Force Field ProjectorAsks for:Collection Module,
Disintegration Module,
Sponge Module,
Stabilization Module
- A Matter of Size
Scale Modules add one block along the specified axis, which is mirrored in some Modes and directional in others. Translation Modules shift the origin of the projection by one block per module in the specified direction relative to the Projector, starting at itself. Rotation Modules will rotate the projected area by 2° per module in the specified direction.
Needs: Define the FieldAsks for:Rotation Module,
Scale Module,
Translation Module
- Functional Forcefields
Via the Field Projector's matrix slots, additional tweaks can be applied to the field's area. You can insert more than one of each, but most will not stack. One Silence Module will silence the Field Projector while it's running. The Dome Module tweaks the projected mode to only generate at and above the Field Projector. A Camouflage Module will cause the projected field to copy the appearance of a block left of it in the Matrix slots. Note: some non-standard blocks don't appreciate being copied. Mimic other modded machines at your own risk. Adding Shock Modules to your Field Projector will cause the shield to deal damage to entities that contact it at 1 damage/module. Glow Modules will cause the field blocks to emit light, brightness increasing by 1 every 4 modules up to the level of glowstone.
Needs: Force Field ProjectorAsks for:Camouflage Module,
Dome Module,
Glow Module,
Shock Module,
Silence Module
- Industrial Foregoing
Industrial Foregoing (I.F) is all about using machines to do your work for you. To get started, you'll need to make a Pity Machine Frame. This machine frame is used for all early game machines, and some cheaper machines like the Block Breaker and Block Placer. Let's use the Pity Machine Frame to get into creating Plastic next!
Asks for:Pity Machine Frame
- Extracting Latex
The Fluid Extractor is the first machine you'll want to make in the mod. These machines will pull Latex from any Wood Log placed in front of it. You'll need a lot of Latex, so it's good to make a few of these! These machines don't require power, but work 3x faster when powered. Most logs will give an average amount, but Acacia logs and Mangrove logs will give the most!
Needs: Industrial ForegoingAsks for:Fluid Extractor

Needs: Advanced Machine FrameAsks for:Stasis Chamber
- Fluid Lasers
To upgrade to the final tier of machine frames, we'll need to extract Ether Gas from the Wither. To do this, you'll need the Fluid Laser Base and some Laser Drills. You might also want to look into making the Stasis Chamber to keep it from exploding! The Laser Base is placed in the center above the Wither and needs the Laser Drills and Purple Laser Lens to work. The Laser Drills are the main "work" machines in this setup. The Drills are placed connecting to either the Laser Base or another Laser Drill. The easiest way to place this is by looking directly at the side of the Laser Base, then sneak-right click to place the Drill. The animated face should be pointing to you in placed properly. You can open up the interface of one of the Laser Drills to see if it is connected to the base! Inside of the Fluid Laser Base, make sure to place in the Purple Laser Lens to tell it what type of fluid to extract. You'll also need to adjust the Y Level to match up with the Wither. If done properly, you'll start extracting Ether Gas!
Needs: Advanced Machine FrameAsks for:Fluid Laser Base,
Laser Drill,
Purple Laser Lens
- Supreme Machine Frame
With the power of Ether Gas, you can craft the final tier of machine frames!
Needs: Fluid Lasers, The Stasis ChamberAsks for:Supreme Machine Frame

- Mechanical Crafter
Mechanical Crafters are gigantic crafting tables that can be automated in several different ways. Crafter Slot Covers can be used to cover up any slots that are not used in autocrafting. However, you can also use a redstone signal to force-start a crafting recipe. FTB Notice: Due to impact on load times, general crafting is currently disabled. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Needs: Andesite CasingAsks for:Mechanical Crafter,
Brass Ingot
- Just Dire Things
Just Dire Things (JDT) is a cool tech mod that despite the name, actually adds some impressive and slightly overpowered Gadgets, Tools and Armors! JDT has a very unique mechanic for acquiring its materials. It starts by making Goo which will spread onto other blocks to convert them over time. The first Goo that you'll make is called Primogel Goo, which takes only a few basic materials.
Asks for:Primogel Goo
- Goo Transmutations
Now that we have some Primogel Goo, we can use it to see how this mechanic works. Start by placing down the Primogel Goo somewhere in an open space, then activate it by giving it either Sugar or Rotten Flesh. You can now place Iron Blocks on any of its faces to start the conversion. You'll notice the Goo slowly starting to spread over, taking it completely over. Once the process is complete, you'll be left with Raw Ferricore Ore. Some Shaders will not properly display this effect, so you might want to disable them if you want to see the changes. Mining this ore will give you Raw Ferricore, which you can smelt down into Ferricore Ingots. Note: Fortune does not work on these ores. You will typically get between 3 or 4 raw ores.
Needs: Just Dire ThingsAsks for:Ferricore Ingot,
Raw Ferricore,
Iron Block
- Creating Blazegold
Once you've gathered some materials from the Nether ring, you can upgrade to the next tier of Goo. Blazebloom Goo will allow you to create a new tier of metal call Blazegold by converting Blocks of Gold, just like we did with Iron. To activate it, you'll need to feed it either Nether Wart or Blaze Powder. It also retains the ability to create Ferricore Ore, so no need to make another Primogel Goo just for Iron. Not only that, it converts Iron faster than Primogel!
Needs: Goo TransmutationsAsks for:Blazebloom Goo,
Raw Blazegold
- Making Celestigems
The next tier of Goo is called Voidshimmer Goo, and allows you to convert Diamond Blocks into Celestigems. To activate it, you'll need to feed it either Sculk, Chorus Fruit, or an Ender Pearl. Just like previous tiers, this Goo can also produce the previous resources, and at a faster rate.
Needs: Creating BlazegoldAsks for:Celestigem,
VoidShimmer Goo
- Ore of the Eclipse
The final tier of Goo is called Shadowpulse Goo. This Goo can convert Netherite Blocks into Eclipse Alloy Ore. To activate it, you'll need to feed it either Ender Pearls or Chorus Fruit. Just like previous tiers, this can also convert all previous ingot blocks at an increased rate.
Needs: Making CelestigemsAsks for:Shadowpulse Goo,
Raw Eclipse Alloy
- Time Crystals
Time Crystals are advanced materials that bend reality itself when inside your inventory. These crystals are made in the World Engine, which requires the Resonant Void and Advanced Machine Block upgrades.
Needs: Ore of the EclipseAsks for:Time Crystal
- Precision Mechanism
The Precision Mechanism is an important crafting component used for some of the best tools and machines Create has to offer. Note: This recipe has a 20% chance to fail, so make sure to have a filter in place to account for this. You can also buy these from the Shop!
Needs: DeployerAsks for:Precision Mechanism
- Bibliophage
Cognition has a unique method of XP generation by way of Bibliophages: tiny constructs that steadily break down bookshelves into XP orbs until only Forgotten Dust is left behind. Infected Bookshelves can spread the phages onto other bookshelves, allowing for a single use of a Bibliophage to affect as many connected bookshelves as available. This process can be halted by using a Staff of Attunement on the infected shelf. Special bookshelves made using written books and enchanted books can also be infected, producing more XP value over their decay than regular shelves. A 'nest' for phages can be made if bookshelves are not in ready supply. Fluorescent Agar is made using the dust left behind by decayed bookshelves, and then placed among infected bookshelves to allow phages to convert it into proper Nutrient Agar, which can passively spread phage infection onto the 26 blocks surrounding it if able. This Agar can be broken and picked back up to further enhance it: Insightful Agar will increase the rate of infection and decay. Extravagant Agar will increase rate of infection and the XP value gained from decay.
Needs: Molecular Metamorpher, Experience ObeliskAsks for:Bibliophage,
Fluorescent Agar
