What is Oritech?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Oritech is a technology mod packed with new machines and tools: processing machines, machines that interact with the world, logistics parts, equipment and more. Most machines are animated multiblocks, and you upgrade them by attaching addon blocks instead of slotting in upgrade items.[1]

All the Mods 10 8.1 ships Oritech 1.2.11 for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1. It has been in the pack since All the Mods 10 4.0 or earlier.[2]

Oritech is for players who like building big automated bases. It is designed so that most things can be made in more than one way, which helps you avoid getting stuck waiting on one rare item. It also aims to make most resources renewable through large automated farms, and in the late game it offers renewable metals from the bedrock extractor. It also includes compatibility with other NeoForge tech mods such as Mekanism, Create and Applied Energistics 2, so metals and components from those mods can be processed in Oritech machines, and the reverse.[1]

Where it fits in the pack

The pack has its own Oritech quest chapter, and the chapter's quest text calls machine cores the basics of the mod. You right-click a machine with a core such as the Primitive Machine Core to build it. Cores do not make a machine faster or more efficient; they only set how many modifiers the machine can take. The "Machine Cores" quest quest introduces this.[3]

The "Basic Building Components" quest quest asks for the Magnetic Coil and the Motor, which its quest description says are used in most machines. From there the chapter branches into power generation, such as the Basic Generator and Bio Generator, item, fluid and energy pipes, Drone Port logistics, alloys from the Foundry, and the Enderic Laser.[3]

The ATM Star path

Oritech is part of Chapter 3: The ATM Star. The "Oritech" quest quest asks for a Magnetic Coil to get started. It then unlocks "Manhattan Module" quest, which asks for the Manhattan Module. The quest warns that you'll need a lot of machines, many different alloys and materials, and plenty of time. The crafting tree uses the Particle Accelerator and engraving in the Atomic Forge, so plan to build a proper Oritech base before you go for it.[4]

Tip: Magnetic Coils are both the entry item for the ATM Star Oritech quest and one of the basic components used in most machines. Making a good stack of them early will help you on both fronts.[3][4]

How do you get started with Oritech?

4 parts

Oritech is a tech mod known for multiblock machines, many different alloys and materials, and lots of time spent building. The pack's quest book tells you to start with a Magnetic Coil, and this page follows that path.[5]

Step 1: Magnetic Coil and Motor

The quest "Basic Building Components" quest asks for two Magnetic Coil and two Motor. It describes them as the components used to make most machines, so make them early. Both are made in the Assembler, not on a normal crafting table. Here are the in-pack recipes:[6][7]

Motor, made in the Assembler.

The Assembler is more than a crafter. It lets you craft newer items and also improves the yield of some other items. Its quest "Putting things together" quest comes after both Oritech Beginnings and the building-components quest.[6]

Step 2: Machine cores

"Machine Cores" quest explains that machine cores form the basics of Oritech. You right-click a machine with a core to build it. Cores do not affect a machine's speed or efficiency directly, only the number of modifiers it can take. Start with the Primitive Machine Core. The quest chain then continues through to the Ultra Machine Core.[6]

Heads up: the pack adds its own recipe for the Improved Machine Core, so use this one rather than relying on what you remember from the mod.[7]

Improved Machine Core, a recipe added by the pack.

Step 3: Power

Machines need energy, so build a generator next. The Basic Generator runs on furnace fuel. Other options in the quest chapter are the Bio Generator (make biomass to use it), the Lava Generator and the Fuel Generator (liquid fuel). Store what you generate with "Storing Energy" quest, using the Portable Energy Storage or the Large Energy Storage.[6]

Step 4: Process your ores

Build the Pulverizer to grind ores into dust, and the Centrifuge, which the quest calls an important machine for your future endeavours. To process ores using Oritech, you need a Centrifuge with a Fluid Addon, plus a Pulverizer or a Fragment Forge. The Fragment Forge improves yield on all pulverisation recipes.[6]

Fluid Addon, which lets the Centrifuge take fluids. This is the mod's recipe, unchanged by the pack.

With the Fluid Addon, clumps can be centrifuged into gems. Sulfuric Acid is the main option, and water also works for a lower yield.[6][7]

Watch out: The quest text notes that some recipes that output dusts or nuggets are currently broken. If a result looks odd, that is a known issue and not something you did wrong.[6]

How does Oritech work?

4 parts

Oritech machines are mostly animated multiblocks, and you upgrade them with addon blocks. Most of what you do in the mod is build a machine, attach addons to it, and then connect it to power, fluid and item networks.[1]

Addons

The pack includes addons such as the Acceptor Addon, Burst Addon, Capacitor Addon, Efficiency Addon, Hunter Addon and Crop Filter Addon. There is also the Power Bank Addon Extender, shown just below.[7]

Unverified The mod has a config option for whether addon bonuses are added additively or multiplicatively. The sources here do not show which setting this pack uses, so check the mod's config in the pack.

Tip: The pack changed the Burst Addon recipe compared with the mod's own, so use the recipe below rather than relying on other guides.[7]

There is also an ultimate machine core. The mod's advancement text says that obtaining one lets you add excessive addons.[8]

Pipes and logistics

Oritech has item, fluid and energy pipes. There is only 1 pipe tier for each type, and pipes are described as generally pretty fast.[1]

The mod is designed with simplicity and performance in mind. Pipe blocks only have entities where needed, for example when connecting to machines. All networks are cached, and network updates are only sent when needed.[1]

The Opaque Item Pipe (Opaque Item Pipe) is the item pipe. For fluids you use the Fluid Pipe and the Pump. The pack changed both from the mod's own versions, and the in-pack versions are shown below.[1][7]

For power, the Energy Transmission Pole (Energy Transmission Pole) is the transmission block in the recipe list.[7]

The mod also lists drones that transport items across vast distances, and lasers that mine blocks automatically. Its advancement text says to power up a laser arm and use it to mine fluxite.[1][8]

Generation and resources

The mod aims to give you several routes to the same result. Plastic, for example, can come from farming items or from oil processing. It also aims for renewable fuel and items through large automated farms. Late-game metals can be renewed with the bedrock extractor, which works with naturally spawned resource nodes, and oil wells also spawn naturally. These are meant to push you into building outlying bases and shipping items to a central hub.[1]

The mod's advancements point to a basic generator, a steam engine that turns water into energy, and a buildable nuclear reactor. The Reactor Coolant Absorber Port is a reactor part, and the Particle Accelerator Guide Ring is the guide ring for particle accelerators.[1][7][8]

Colouring and augments

Machines can be coloured with paints, such as Camo Machine Paint, Industrial Machine Paint, Sculk Machine Paint and Fluxite Machine Paint. The pack changed the recipes for the Netherite Machine Paint and Redstone Machine Paint.[1][7]

The mod also adds cybernetic player augmentation. Many augments, such as night vision, the ore finder and the magnet, are described as toggleable via the augment interface.[1][8]

How do you progress through Oritech?

6 parts

In the quest book as it currently stands, Oritech's progression in this pack is driven by quests. The line starts in the ATM Star chapter, where the Oritech quest asks you for a Magnetic Coil. From there the Oritech chapter branches out from its starting quest, and this section follows that order.[5][6]

First steps: machine cores and basic components

Everything starts with machine cores. As the quest "Machine Cores" quest explains, you right-click a machine with a core to build it. Cores don't change speed or efficiency directly, only the number of modifiers a machine can take. The quests run through the cores in order, from the Primitive Machine Core up to the Ultra Machine Core, with the Basic Machine Core, Improved Machine Core, Advanced Machine Core and Elite Machine Core in between.[6]

Ore processing

In the quest book as it currently stands, the Pulverizer is your first grinder, and the Fragment Forge is the upgrade that improves yield on all pulverisation recipes. The quest for the Centrifuge calls it an important machine for your future endeavours.[6]

For the full ore chain, the "Ore Processing" quest quest says you need a Centrifuge with a Fluid Addon plus a Pulverizer or Fragment Forge. Centrifuging clumps with Sulfuric Acid gives gems, while water works for a lower yield. The quest also warns that some recipes that output dusts or nuggets are currently broken.[6][7]

Alloys and the Assembler

As the quest book currently stands, the Foundry quest asks you to make 4 Adamant Ingot. A following alloy quest asks for 8 Duratium Ingot and describes it as mixing netherite and platinum. In this pack the Enderio, Immersive Engineering and Productive Metalworks routes to duratium are pack-changed recipes.[6][7]

Enderic lasers

The Enderic Laser quest comes after the Assembler quest and the foundry quest, and it opens up several branches. The laser can transfer energy, transform materials, break blocks and speed up amethyst growth. Its "Hurting Mobs" quest follow-up adds the Hunter Addon so the laser can target mobs. Other quests use the laser to charge amethyst into 4 Fluxite and to get Plutonium Dust.[6]

The pack changes how you get these materials: fluxite and plutonium dust both have pack-changed energizing recipes.[7]

Endgame: Atomic Forge and the Manhattan Module

The Atomic Forge is the ultimate crafting machine here. It can only be powered by Enderic Lasers and is used to craft high value items. Its quest comes after the duratium, enderic compound and Flux Gate quests.[6]

The alternative route uses Unholy Intelligence.

Tip: The current quest text for the Manhattan Module says Unholy Intelligence comes from filling a Dubious Container with Strange Matter. It says Strange Matter comes from a Fluid Refinery with 2 extra chambers, which matches the Refinery quest asking for 2 Refinery Chamber Module.[5][6]

How does Oritech work with other mods?

6 parts

Oritech is built so that most things can be made in more than one way, and the mod ships compatibility with a long list of NeoForge mods. In this pack those compat recipes are tuned to the pack's own metals, so Oritech machines both accept and output items from other mods. Here is where the two sides meet.[1][7]

All the Ores metals

Oritech's ore chains output All the Ores items instead of keeping their own metals. The Pulverizer turns raw copper, gold, iron, nickel and platinum into the matching All the Ores dust plus a small Oritech dust. The grinder recipes give clumps instead, for example Iron Clump alongside small clumps.[6][7]

The Deep Drill follows the same idea. The nickel, platinum and uranium resource nodes produce Raw Nickel, Raw Platinum and Raw Uranium. Grinding raw uranium gives Uranium Dust and Small Plutonium Dust, which is the first step toward plutonium.[7]

The Atomic Forge also converts gems into All the Ores dusts when you add Fluxite. Here is the copper version:[7]

2× Copper DustChanged by the pack

Atomic Forge (oritech)

Recipe id: oritech:atomicforge/dust/copper

The Foundry turns the Nickel and Platinum Gems into Nickel Ingot and Platinum Ingot. Furnaces and blast furnaces can smelt those gems too, and Create mixing offers the same conversion.[6][7]

The pack's quest "Ore Processing" quest covers this ore processing. It says you need a Centrifuge with a Fluid Addon, plus a Pulverizer or Fragment Forge.[6]

Productive Metalworks

Productive Metalworks melts Oritech's gems, small clumps and small dusts of copper, gold, iron, nickel and platinum into molten metal. It also alloys and casts Oritech's own metals. Molten Diamond with Molten Nickel gives Molten Adamant, and Molten Netherite with Molten Platinum gives Molten Duratium. Casting then produces Adamant Ingot and Duratium Ingot. Molten Biosteel and Molten Energite work the same way, and fluxite and biomass can be cast too.[7]

This ties into the alloy quests. One asks for the Foundry plus 4 Adamant Ingots, and another asks for 8 Duratium Ingots, described as mixing netherite and platinum.[6]

Mekanism, Create and Immersive Engineering

Mekanism's metallurgic infusing can make Adamant Dust and Biosteel Dust. In the other direction, the Centrifuge and Grinder process osmium into Osmium Dust along with small platinum byproducts. With Sulfuric Acid, the fluid Centrifuge turns lead, osmium and tin clumps into dust and Mineral Slurry.[7]

For zinc, the fluid Centrifuge makes Zinc Nugget from clumps, and the Refinery makes Zinc Clump from raw zinc using Sheol Fire. The Refinery does the same for raw aluminum and raw lead, giving Aluminum Dust and Lead Dust. Aluminum ore can also be ground into Raw Aluminum with Quartz Dust as a bonus.[6][7]

Immersive Engineering's HOP Graphite Dust can be processed in the Centrifuge into Carbon Fibre Strands. A quest asks you to hand in 4 of them.[6][7]

Fuel and plastic

Turbofuel can be made in the fluid Centrifuge from Fluxite plus either Industrial Foregoing's Biofuel or PneumaticCraft's Crude Oil. The Cooler also converts PneumaticCraft plastic into Plastic Sheet. This matches the mod's design of offering several routes, for example plastic from farming items or from oil processing.[1][7]

Ender IO

Ender IO gets alternative crafting recipes for two Oritech parts, the Fluid Pipe and the Pump:[7]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use Oritech?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Oritech shows up in two places in the questbook. It has its own full "Oritech" chapter, and it also plays a part in Chapter 3: The ATM Star, where you'll need one of its biggest crafts.[3][4]

The Oritech chapter: first steps

Almost everything in the chapter unlocks after a quest called Oritech Beginnings, so you can branch out in whatever order you like once that's done. A good place to start is "Machine Cores" quest, which asks for a Primitive Machine Core. You right-click machines with machine cores to build them. Cores don't directly change a machine's speed or efficiency. They only change how many modifiers it can take.[3]

Ore processing

The Pulverizer (a quest in "Oritech") leads to the Fragment Forge (a quest in "Oritech"), which improves yield on all pulverising recipes. The Centrifuge (a quest in "Oritech") leads to a Fluid Addon (a quest in "Oritech"). Finish both branches to unlock "Ore Processing" quest, which asks for any Oritech gem, such as Iron Gem.[3]

Watch out: The "Spinning into gems" quest quest explains that clumps processed in a centrifuge with sulphuric acid give gems, and that water also works but gives a lower yield. The quest also notes that some of these recipes are currently broken and output dusts or nuggets instead.[3]

Lasers and the Atomic Forge

Once you've finished "Putting things together" quest and the Foundry quest, a quest in "Oritech" asks for an Enderic Laser and a Target Designator. The laser opens up "Hurting Mobs" quest, 4 Fluxite from charging amethyst (a quest in "Oritech"), and Plutonium Dust (a quest in "Oritech").[3]

Fluxite and a Processing Unit (a quest in "Oritech") unlock the Flux Gate (a quest in "Oritech"). Combine that with 8 Duratium Ingot (a quest in "Oritech") and Enderic Compound (a quest in "Oritech") to reach the Atomic Forge (a quest in "Oritech"). The Atomic Forge can only be powered by Enderic Lasers.[3]

  1. Make 8 Silicon Wafer (a quest in "Oritech").[3]
  2. Make 4 Advanced Computing Engine (a quest in "Oritech").[3]
  3. Make 2 Super AI Chip (a quest in "Oritech").[3]
  4. Make a Heisenberg Compensator (a quest in "Oritech").[3]
  5. Combine the compensator with 2 Plutonium Pellet (a quest in "Oritech") to finish the Manhattan Module (a quest in "Oritech").[3]

Alongside this, the machine core chain climbs from a quest in "Oritech" through a quest in "Oritech", a quest in "Oritech" and a quest in "Oritech" up to the Ultra Machine Core in a quest in "Oritech".[3]

Unverified The machine addon quests (speed, processing, efficiency, fluid, capacitor, acceptor and the Machine Addon Extender) and the Refinery quest depend on quests that aren't described in the available quest data, so their exact unlock requirements are unconfirmed.

Chapter 3: The ATM Star

Here "Oritech" quest only asks for a Magnetic Coil. It then leads to "Manhattan Module" quest, which asks for the same Manhattan Module you work towards in the Oritech chapter. The quest points out that the Heisenberg Compensator has 2 recipes, and both need the Atomic Forge, so working through the Oritech chapter first is the natural route.[3][4]

What changed in Oritech between versions?

1 part

Oritech was added to All the Mods 10 in version 4.0 and has been updated many times since. All the Mods 10 6.6 ships Oritech 1.1.0. The pack changelogs only record which version the mod moved to, so below you get the upgrade path and not a list of new features.[9][10]

Oritech versions by pack release

  • All the Mods 10 4.0: Oritech 0.16.2 was added.[9]
  • All the Mods 10 4.5: updated from 0.16.2 to 0.17.3.[11]
  • All the Mods 10 4.12: updated from 0.17.3 to 0.18.1.[12]
  • All the Mods 10 4.13: updated from 0.18.1 to 0.18.2.[13]
  • All the Mods 10 4.15: updated from 0.18.2 to 0.19.4.[14]
  • All the Mods 10 5.2: updated from 0.19.4 to 0.19.5.[15]
  • All the Mods 10 5.3: updated from 0.19.5 to 0.19.6.[16]
  • All the Mods 10 5.5: updated from 0.19.6 to 1.0.0.[17]
  • All the Mods 10 6.0: updated from 1.0.0 to 1.0.1.[18]
  • All the Mods 10 6.2: updated from 1.0.1 to 1.1.0, the version still in 6.6.[10][19]

The biggest jump in the history is in 4.15, which went from 0.18.2 to 0.19.4 in one release. The move from 0.19.6 to 1.0.0 in 5.5 is the mod's first full release in the pack.[14][17]

Unverified The sources contain no changelogs for the Oritech jars shipped in the pack, so what changed inside each version (new machines, recipe changes, balance tweaks or fixes) is unverified. Check the pack's own notes before assuming any recipe or value changed between these versions.
