What is Eternal Starlight?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 7.2 guide

Eternal Starlight is a dimension mod that adds the Starlight dimension, a magical and mysterious realm full of wonder, danger and discovery. It is packed with new biomes, rare ingredients, unique mobs and plenty of tools and weapons to find. If you love exploring a fresh world and fighting bosses, this one's for you. This pack runs version 0.8.1 for Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge.[1][2]

Getting to the Starlight

Your journey starts in the Overworld. Look for Starlight Portal Ruins and challenge the Gatekeeper you find there. Beat him and he gives you items that let you go through the portal into a whole new world.[1][3]

The key item is the Orb of Prophecy. Its main job is activating the portal, and you can either win it from the Gatekeeper or craft it.[4]

Bosses and materials

The bosses in the Starlight live in their own structures, and those structures aren't common. To find them, throw a Seeking Eye like an Eye of Ender and follow it. The item you hold in your offhand sets which structure it points to. Then follow the clues on the Glimmering Tablet to track each boss down.[1][4]

The dimension also has its own gear materials. Thermal Springstone for the Thermal Springstone Ingot is found in Hot Ponds. Aethersent Ore for the Aethersent Ingot shows up where big meteors land during rare meteor showers. Raw Amaramber rarely drops when you strip Torreya Logs, and you can turn it into ingots for armor and tools.[4]

Where it fits in the pack

The pack gives Eternal Starlight its own quest chapter, which walks you through its biomes, ores, bosses and gear.[4]

The mod also appears on the ATM Star path. Chapter 3: The ATM Star includes the "Eternal Starlight" quest quest, which asks for a Glimmering Tablet. After that comes "Chain of Souls" quest, for the Chain of Souls. This is a grappling-hook-style tool with a range of about 90 blocks, and the materials to make it come from killing a Lunar Monstrosity.[3]

Unverified Exactly which Eternal Starlight items are used in the ATM Star recipe itself could not be confirmed.

How do you get started with Eternal Starlight?

3 parts

Eternal Starlight adds the Starlight dimension, and your first goal is getting there. Look for the Starlight Portal Ruins in the Overworld, then face The Gatekeeper to unlock the gateway to the stars.[1]

Step 1: Get the Orb of Prophecy

The Orb of Prophecy is what activates the portal. You can either craft it or get it by beating the Gatekeeper. The quest for it says it will have more uses later on.[5][6]

This is the in-pack crafting recipe for the Orb of Prophecy.

Step 2: Craft a Seeking Eye

Once you're in, the bosses live in their own structures, and those aren't common. The Seeking Eye helps with that. It works like an Ender Eye: right click to throw it, then follow it to the structure.[5]

This is the in-pack crafting recipe for the Seeking Eye.

To choose which structure it points to, hold a certain item in your offhand. Vines, red or blue crystal moss carpets, Lunar Berries, Cave Moss and red or blue crystal roots lead you to the Cursed Garden. Redstone, Golem Steel or Oxidized Golem Steel lead you to the Golem Forge, which is underground.[5]

The quests "Finding the Bosses" quest, "Monstrosity Items" quest and "Golem Items" quest cover this in more detail.[5]

Step 3: Gather early materials

Before you chase bosses, it helps to stock up. The quest book points you to these finds:[5]

  • Lunar Berries grow down from Lunar Tree leaves. You pluck them like Glow Berries, and the quest calls them an excellent food source that's very easy to get.[5]
  • Saltpeter Powder drops from Saltpeter ore, found anywhere underground and very commonly in the Warm Shore biome. You need a Stone Pickaxe to mine it, and Fortune works on it.[5]
  • Raw Amaramber is rarely found by stripping Torreya Logs. It can be crafted into ingots for armor and tools. See a quest in "Eternal Starlight".[5][6]
  • eternal_starlight:swamp_silver_ingot is rarely found in Nightfall Mud and can be used to craft armor and tools.[5]
  • Thermal Springstone Ingot comes from the Hot Ponds. These aren't a biome or structure, so you just have to look around for them.[5]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: eternal_starlight:shapeless/amaramber_ingot

This shapeless in-pack recipe turns raw Amaramber into an Amaramber Ingot.

Tip: The Seeking Eye reads whatever you hold in your offhand. Redstone is likely the easiest pick for the Golem Forge, since it spawns underground in the Starlight, and Lunar Berries work for the Cursed Garden.[5]

How does Eternal Starlight work?

5 parts

Eternal Starlight is a dimension mod, and the sources I have only describe a handful of functional systems. I'm keeping this section to what they confirm.[1]

The Crystalborn Catalyst

The one machine the sources describe is the Crystalborn Catalyst. It is a crystal-fueled and redstone-powered machine, and crafting it has its own advancement.[6]

Starfire and the Starfire Birds

Starfire comes from helping the Starfire Birds breed. You put seeds into the birds' nests to help them breed, and that is how you obtain Starfire.[6]

You can also craft the Acacia Starfire Bird Aviary. Here is the in-pack recipe:[7]

Portal and boss finding

To reach the dimension, find the Starlight Portal Ruins in the Overworld and face the Gatekeeper to unlock the gateway. The Orb of Prophecy is the item that can be used to open the portal.[1][6]

Once you are inside, the Seeking Eye locates each boss, and the Glimmering Tablet gives you clues to track them down. The Seeking Eye's tooltip says to put a related item in your other hand before using it.[1][6]

Pack recipe changes

The pack changes the standard recipe for the Amaramber Lantern. The mod also has a second recipe for the same lantern, which is not marked as changed. This is the pack's version:[7]

Ether fluid

The Ether fluid exists in the dimension, and you can earn an advancement for standing in it.[6]

How do you progress through Eternal Starlight?

3 parts

Eternal Starlight progression starts in the Overworld, with the quest "Eternal Starlight" quest. You look for the Eternal Starlight Portal Ruins and challenge the Gatekeeper to a fight. If you win, you get items that let you enter the portal to the new dimension.[8]

The key item is the Orb of Prophecy. You can craft it or get it by beating the Gatekeeper. Its main use is activating the Portal, and the quest says it has more uses later.[5]

Finding the bosses

Boss structures are rare, so the quest "Finding the Bosses" quest points you to the Seeking Eye. It works like an Ender Eye: right-click to throw it and follow it to the structure. Which structure it finds depends on the item in your offhand.[5]

Material tiers in the quest tree

In the quest tree, the quests for the raw resources hang off the main Eternal Starlight quest. The armor and tool quests for each material follow from there. These are the materials you will meet.[5]

  • Swamp Silver: found rarely in Nightfall Mud in the Dark Swamp, and used for armor and tools. You also need a eternal_starlight:swamp_silver_sickle to collect Lunar Reed.[5]
  • Amaramber: found rarely by stripping Torreya Logs in the Torreya Forest. You craft the raw material into ingots for armor and tools.[5]
  • Glacite: found deep underground in the Permafrost Forests. Its armor and tools help against Freezing damage.[5]
  • Thermal Springstone: found in the Hot Ponds scattered around the Starlight. They are not a biome or structure, so you have to look for them. The quests cover a full set of tools, including a hammer and a scythe, plus armor.[5]
  • Aethersent: you only find the ore after a rare Meteor Shower, from the larger meteors that survive the fall. Its quests cover the Aethersent Hood, cape, bottoms and boots, plus Rage of Stars and the Starfall Longbow.[5]

Golem steel and boss gear

The crossbow quests come after the Starlight Golem. The Mechanical Crossbow is a much stronger crossbow made with Golem Steel, and it can still be enchanted. The Crystal Crossbow is crafted like it but with crystals instead of sticks. It does the same damage as a normal crossbow and also applies Crystal Infection, which deals 1 damage every second.[5][7]

Tip: The pack changed the Saltpeter Powder and Atalphaite smelting, blasting and block recipes. Saltpeter ore needs a Stone Pickaxe to mine, and Fortune works on it. If a recipe seems different from the mod's defaults, trust the in-pack recipe shown on the site.[5][7]

How does Eternal Starlight work with other mods?

3 parts

Eternal Starlight doesn't live on its own in this pack. The recipes below connect its items and woods to other mods, and every one of them was added or changed by the pack, so you won't find them in the mods' default recipes.[7]

Dragon Soul

The pack adds a shaped recipe for the Dragon Soul that uses the Chain of Souls from Eternal Starlight. The other ingredients come from several different mods, so this is a real cross-mod crafting goal. Here is the exact recipe:[7]

Sawing Starlight wood

The pack adds sawing recipes for every Eternal Starlight wood type: Jinglestem, Lunar, Northland, Scarlet, Starlight Mangrove and Torreya. You can saw them in Mekanism or in Productive Trees.[7]

In Mekanism's sawing recipe, a log from the matching Eternal Starlight log tag turns into planks plus Sawdust. Lunar is shown here as an example, and the other woods follow the same pattern.[7]

The Productive Trees sawmill recipe also turns logs into planks. It takes Sawdust together with the log as input, so the sawdust is an ingredient there, not a byproduct.[7]

BiblioCraft furniture

BiblioCraft has wood and colour variants of its display cases and seats for the Eternal Starlight woods. The pack changed these recipes. They use the matching wood's slab, such as Lunar Slab or Torreya Slab, plus wool of the variant's colour. Display cases also need glass, and the seat and seat back variants use other pieces too.[7]

The recipe dump covers the black variants for every wood listed above and the start of the blue ones. Each wood has a display case, a seat and several seat backs (small, flat, raised, fancy and tall). For example, the fancy and tall seat backs are crafted from the flat seat back of the same wood plus a slab. Here is a sample, the Black Lunar Seat:[7]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use Eternal Starlight?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 7.2 guide

Eternal Starlight shows up in three quest chapters in this pack: the ATM Star chapter, its own Eternal Starlight chapter, and Basic Armor. A Basic Tools chapter exists too, but I can't see its contents.[3][4][9]

Starting out: the ATM Star chapter

Everything starts with "Eternal Starlight" quest, which asks you to hold a Glimmering Tablet. You find Eternal Starlight Portal Ruins around the Overworld, challenge the Gatekeeper there, and use what he gives you to enter the portal.[3]

Right after it comes "Chain of Souls" quest, which wants a Chain of Souls. It works like a grappling hook with a range of about 90 blocks, and you get its materials from the Lunar Monstrosity. The Eternal Starlight chapter also says this item is needed for the ATM Star.[3][4]

The Eternal Starlight chapter

This chapter branches out from its starting quest. First is the Orb of Prophecy quest, a quest in "Eternal Starlight". It comes after a Gatekeeper and portal quest, and the orb's main use is activating the portal.[4]

  1. "Finding the Bosses" quest asks for a Seeking Eye, which works like an Ender Eye to lead you to boss structures. You set which structure it seeks with an item in your offhand.[4]
  2. "Monstrosity Items" quest lists the offhand items (vines, crystal moss carpets, lunar berries, cave moss and crystal roots) that lead the Seeking Eye to the Cursed Garden.[4]
  3. "Golem Items" quest lists the offhand items (Redstone, Golem Steel or Oxidized Golem Steel) that lead it to the underground Golem Forge.[4]
  4. "Burn it!" quest comes after the Cursed Garden. You must set the Lunar Monstrosity on fire, using Flint and Steel or a Saltpeter Matchbox.[4]

The boss-drop quests follow. The Lunar Monstrosity leads to the Moonring Bow (a quest in "Eternal Starlight"), the Wand of Teleportation (a quest in "Eternal Starlight"), the Crescent Spear (a quest in "Eternal Starlight") and the Chain of Souls (a quest in "Eternal Starlight"). The Starlight Golem leads to the Energy Sword (a quest in "Eternal Starlight"), the Mechanical Crossbow (a quest in "Eternal Starlight") and the Crystal Crossbow (a quest in "Eternal Starlight"). The Moonring Greatsword (a quest in "Eternal Starlight") needs drops from both bosses.[4]

Material and gear lines

Each material has a discovery quest followed by a set of tool and armor quests. Thermal Springstone starts at a quest in "Eternal Starlight", found in hot ponds. Aethersent starts at a quest in "Eternal Starlight", from meteor showers, and unlocks armor pieces plus the Starfall Longbow and Rage of Stars. Glacite starts at a quest in "Eternal Starlight" in the Permafrost Forest, and its gear helps against freezing damage. Amaramber starts at a quest in "Eternal Starlight" after the Torreya Forest quests. Swamp Silver starts at a quest in "Eternal Starlight" after the Dark Swamp quests.[4]

Smaller side quests cover Thioquartz (a quest in "Eternal Starlight", leading to the Alchemist Mask and Alchemist Robe) and Saltpeter (a quest in "Eternal Starlight", leading to the matchbox).[4]

Basic Armor chapter

This chapter has collection quests for "Golem Steel" quest, "Blue Starlight Crystal" quest, "Thioquartz" quest, "Tenacious Petal" quest and "Glacite" quest. It also has full-set armor quests: "Aethersent Armor" quest, "Swamp Silver Armor" quest, "Glacite Armor" quest and "Thermal Springstone Armor" quest. Two quests cover armor trims: "Keeper Armor Trim" quest is traded from the Gatekeeper, and "Forge Armor Trim" quest drops from the Starlight Golem.[9]

Unverified The Basic Armor listing is cut off after Swamp Silver, and the Basic Tools chapter contents weren't available, so any other Eternal Starlight quests there and their order are unconfirmed.

Which Eternal Starlight config options matter?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Eternal Starlight is a dimension mod that adds the magical, mysterious Starlight dimension. Its project page covers getting there, the bosses and what you can explore, but it doesn't go into config settings.[1]

Unverified This section can't list which config options matter or how All the Mods 10 8.1 sets them, because none of this mod's config files from the pack were available to check. That means no confirmed option names, defaults or pack changes yet. If you want to check for yourself, look in your instance's config folder for this mod's files.

What changed in Eternal Starlight between versions?

1 part

Eternal Starlight has been part of All the Mods 10 for a long time: it was first included in version 2.2 or earlier. The 4.12 release ships Eternal Starlight 0.5.1 for NeoForge.[10]

Updates across pack releases

The pack changelogs record these Eternal Starlight version bumps, oldest first:[11][12][13][14][15][16]

  • All the Mods 10 2.26 updated Eternal Starlight from 0.2.3 to 0.3.0.[11]
  • All the Mods 10 2.36 updated it from 0.3.0 to 0.4.0.[12]
  • All the Mods 10 2.40 updated it from 0.4.0 to 0.4.1.[13]
  • All the Mods 10 2.43 updated it from 0.4.1 to 0.4.2-hotfix.[14]
  • All the Mods 10 2.47 updated it from 0.4.2-hotfix to 0.4.3.[15]
  • All the Mods 10 4.5 updated it from 0.4.3 to 0.5.1.[16]

The 0.5.1 version that arrived in pack version 4.5 is the same version still included in 4.12. If you have played since 4.5, you are on the current release of the mod.[10][16]

Unverified The pack changelogs only list version numbers and do not describe what each Eternal Starlight update changed. The mod's own changelogs for these releases were not available, so the specific new features, fixes or balance changes are unverified.
