What is Eternal Starlight?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 0.60 guide
Eternal Starlight is a dimension mod that drops a whole magical, mysterious realm into your world: the starlight dimension. It's built around exploration: a mystical realm bathed in starlight that's full of wonder, danger and discovery.[1]
The pack ships version 0.1.14 for 1.21.1 on NeoForge, and it's been part of the pack since at least an earlier 0.42 release, so it's a long-standing part of the lineup rather than a new addition.[2]
What you'll find there
- Diverse biomes to explore across the dimension.[1]
- Rare ingredients and unique mobs you won't see anywhere else.[1]
- An array of tools and weapons to discover as you dig into the realm.[1]
- Boss encounters that you track down using the Seeking Eye and the clues on the Glimmering Tablet.[1]
Getting in
Your way in starts in the Overworld. Go hunting for Starlight Portal Ruins, then face The Gatekeeper there to unlock the gateway to the stars.[1]
Where it fits in the pack
This one is a side adventure rather than a required stop. The mod isn't on the ATM Star quest path in this pack, and there are no quests here that involve it, so treat Eternal Starlight as optional content you dive into when you want a fresh dimension to explore and some new gear to chase.[2]
How do you get started with Eternal Starlight?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 0.60 guide
Eternal Starlight adds a whole magical dimension to travel to, so your first job isn't crafting at all, it's finding the way in. Search the Overworld for the Starlight Portal Ruins, then face the Gatekeeper and pass its trial to open the gateway to the stars.[1][3]
Your first metal: Amaramber
The easiest starting resource in the dimension is Raw Amaramber, which you get by stripping Torreya Logs, no mining required. Turn it into Amaramber Ingot and you've got a full starter tier of gear.[3][4]

The pack changed the lantern recipe so it uses iron nuggets, which means you can make one the moment you arrive instead of waiting on swamp silver. The original swamp silver version is still available as a second recipe once you find that metal.[4]

Next milestones
After Amaramber, the progression runs through the dimension's other materials: Thioquartz Shard, Swamp Silver ingots, Thermal Springstone, Glacite from under the Starlight Permafrost Forest, Golem Steel, and finally Aethersent Ingot. Each one unlocks its own gear, and the armour sets all have a full-set effect: swamp silver shrugs off certain negative effects, thermal springstone ignites anything that damages you and cuts the fire damage you take, glacite freezes attackers and makes you immune to freeze damage, and aethersent drops meteors on whatever hurts you.[3]
Thioquartz is worth chasing early, because it turns straight into the alchemist set.[3][4]

When you're geared up and ready for bosses, craft a Seeking Eye and use it to locate them, then follow the clues on the Glimmering Tablet to track them down. Remember to hold the related item in your other hand before using the eye, or it won't point you anywhere.[1][3]
How does Eternal Starlight work?
6 parts
Eternal Starlight is a dimension mod: it adds a magical, mysterious starlight dimension rather than a tech tree of machines. Its core loop is exploration and combat: find the way in, survive the biomes, hunt down the bosses and turn what they drop into gear. Everything below is how that loop actually works in this pack.[1]
Unverified The sources available for this page don't describe any machines, multiblocks, power networks or fluid/item automation for this mod, so none are documented here. If the mod adds processing blocks, they aren't covered by the pack files used for this guide.
Getting in: the ruins and the Gatekeeper
Your entry point is the Starlight Portal Ruins out in the Overworld. Find a set, then face The Gatekeeper to unlock the gateway to the stars: there's an advancement for passing its trial, and another simply for entering the starlight dimension.[1][5]
The Gatekeeper is a real fight, not a formality. In this pack it's configured with 175 max health, 15 armor, 5 attack damage and a follow range of 200, so it hits reasonably hard, soaks damage and will not lose track of you once the trial starts.[6]
The portal itself uses a custom shader, which is on by default here via enablePortalShader. If the effect causes you trouble on your setup, that's the switch to flip.[6]
Tracking bosses: Seeking Eye and Glimmering Tablet
Bosses aren't found by wandering. You use the Seeking Eye to locate each one, then follow the clues on the Glimmering Tablet to track it down. The Seeking Eye has one important handling rule: before using it, put the related item in your other hand: the eye reads what you're holding.[1][5]
There's also a crest effect built around the same idea: Guidance of Stars helps you find the ruins where the powerful creatures live. Other crests are combat-focused: Blazing Beam fires a laser beam in the direction you're facing, and Boulder's Shield provides the resistance effect.[5]
Boss mechanics and stats in this pack
The big encounters each have their own gimmick. The Lunar Monstrosity has to be ignited before it becomes vulnerable to your attacks: there's an advancement for doing exactly that, and another for finishing it off. In this pack it sits at 200 max health with 12 armor and a 200 follow range, so it will chase you across a very wide area while you set it alight.[5][6]
The Starlight Golem is the beefiest of the configured bosses at 220 max health, with 0 armor and a follow range of 200. Both it and the Lunar Monstrosity use an attack damage scale of 1 in this pack rather than a flat damage number, so their hits stay at the mod's intended scaling.[6]
Tangled Hatred is the mid-tier terror: 60 max health, 5 armor, a follow range of 100 and an attack damage scale of 1. Its smaller relatives are much lighter: a Tangled has 20 health and 5 attack damage, while a Tangled Skull has 10 health and 3 attack damage. Kill a tangled skull and let its explosion finish off another one for an advancement.[5][6]
Mob tuning in the config
Almost every creature in the mod is exposed in info under a mobsConfig section, with its own max health, armor, attack damage (or damage scale) and follow range. In this pack every single mob has canSpawn set to true, so nothing from the mod is disabled: if you want a quieter dimension, that's where you turn things off one species at a time.[6]
- Ambient life is deliberately fragile: Luminaris and Lumino Fish both have 3 max health, and a Gleech has 8 with 1 attack damage.[6]
- Mid-range threats cluster around 20 health: Aurora Deer, Lonestar Skeleton, Yeti, Grimstone Golem, Crystallized Moth and Shimmer Lacewing are all set to 20.[6]
- Ranged and ambush mobs get long sight lines: Lonestar Skeletons have an 80 follow range and Crystallized Moths 50, versus 16 for a Nightfall Spider.[6]
- Boarwarfs are tanky for a neutral mob at 30 max health and 10 armor, with no attack damage value set.[6]
Gear effects
Armor in this mod works through full-set bonuses, the tooltips spell out that the effect applies when you're wearing the full set. Each material gives a different defensive trick, so you pick your set for the biome you're heading into.[5]
- Aethersent Hood and the rest of the aethersent set summon meteors over an enemy's head when you take damage.[5]
- Glacite armor freezes enemies that damage you and makes you immune to freeze damage: the obvious pick for the cold biomes.[5]
- Thermal springstone armor ignites enemies that damage you and reduces the fire damage you take.[5]
- Swamp silver armor makes you immune to any negative effects.[5]
Weapons can have conditional behaviour too. The Dagger of Hunger restores hunger when you attack and gives an attack damage and speed bonus while you're full, but it eats the player when you're hungry: a genuine risk/reward weapon rather than a straight upgrade.[5]
Crafting and material handling
There's no custom crafting station involved in the mod's own recipes in this pack, they're all standard shaped and shapeless crafting table recipes. Materials follow the usual nugget, ingot and block compression chain, so Aethersent Ingot packs into Block of Aethersent and back, and the same goes for eternal_starlight:atalphaite and its block. That means every mod material moves through vanilla storage and auto-crafting without anything special.[7]
One recipe has been changed by the pack: the Amaramber Lantern. Check the in-pack version below rather than relying on what you remember from the mod's defaults.[7]

The mod's own alternative lantern recipe is still available if you'd rather spend swamp silver nuggets, so you have two routes depending on which metal you have spare.[7]

A few recipes use ingredient tags rather than one fixed item, which matters if you're automating them. Aethersent armour pieces accept anything in the aethersent ingot tag, amaramber tools accept any amaramber ingot and any wooden rod, and eternal_starlight:blaze_crystal accepts a whole tag of blaze crystal ingredients alongside a Red Starlight Crystal Shard.[7]

How do you progress through Eternal Starlight?
4 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 0.60 guide
Eternal Starlight in this pack runs on its own materials: almost every recipe in the mod is untouched, so the crafting tree you see in JEI is the mod's own tier ladder. There is no machine or altar step in the middle of it: you gather a material in the dimension, then craft the gear for that material directly.[4]
The one thing the pack does change is the Amaramber Lantern recipe, so check that one in JEI rather than going from memory or an older wiki.[4]

Amaramber: the entry tier
Amaramber is the first full kit you can put together. It covers tools, armour and ammunition, and it compresses the usual way: nuggets pack into Amaramber Ingot, and ingots split back into Amaramber Nugget when you need small change for arrows.[4]

Aethersent: the late armour tier
Aethersent is the deepest crafted armour line in the mod's recipe set. It has four pieces: Aethersent Hood, Aethersent Cape, Aethersent Bottoms and Aethersent Boots, and the usual nugget, ingot and Block of Aethersent storage chain so you can stash spare ingots compactly while you farm the rest of a set.[4]

Weapons and boss-drop crafts
The mod's standout weapons are not tied to one metal ladder; each one is built from a specific drop, which is what actually gates them. Once you have the drop, the craft itself is cheap.[4]
- Dagger of Hunger is built around the Tooth of Hunger.[4]
- Crescent Spear uses Tenacious Petal and Tenacious Vine, the same pair that goes into Chain of Souls alongside a eternal_starlight:trapped_soul.[4]
- Crystal Crossbow is the most demanding of the three, wanting both a Blue Starlight Crystal Shard and a Red Starlight Crystal Shard, so it lands at the end of the weapon list.[4]
- eternal_starlight:blaze_crystal is another red shard craft, useful if you are stockpiling shards rather than spending them all on the crossbow.[4]

Unverified Which mobs, bosses or biomes drop amaramber, thioquartz, aethersent and the starlight crystal shards, and the intended order in which the dimension's bosses are meant to be fought, could not be confirmed from the pack data available here. Use JEI's usage view and in-game exploration to work out where each material comes from. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How does Eternal Starlight work with other mods?
2 parts
Eternal Starlight doesn't have a lot of crossover with other mods in this pack, but the connections that exist are useful. They come from recipes the pack adds: one endgame crafting recipe and a set of sawing recipes for the mod's wood types.[7]
Dragon Soul
The pack adds a shaped crafting recipe for Dragon Soul that uses Chain of Souls as one of its ingredients. The other ingredients come from several other mods, including Block of Piglich Hearts, Infused Dragon's Breath, Soul Gem, Dragon Familiar Spawn Egg, Inactive Dragon Egg and Socotra Dragon Sapling. So the Chain of Souls is a required piece of the Dragon Soul.[7]

Sawing Eternal Starlight wood
The pack adds sawing recipes so the mod's five wood types work with Mekanism's sawing and with the Productive Trees sawmill. The wood types are Lunar, Northland, Scarlet, Starlight Mangrove and Torreya.[7]
In the Mekanism sawing recipes, any log of the matching wood type gives you the matching planks plus Sawdust. These exist for Lunar Planks, Northland Planks, Scarlet Planks, eternal_starlight:starlight_mangrove_planks and Torreya Planks.[7]
Sawing (mekanism)
- any lunar log
Recipe id: allthemods:mekanism/sawing/eternal_starlight/lunar_planks
The other four wood types follow the same pattern.
The pack also adds a Productive Trees sawmill recipe for each of the same five wood types. These recipes involve the logs, the planks and Sawdust. Note that Productive Trees has its own sawdust item, separate from Mekanism's.[7]
Sawmill (productivetrees)
6× Lunar Planks
2× Sawdust
- any lunar log
Recipe id: allthemods:productivetrees/sawing/eternal_starlight/lunar_planks
Same setup for Northland, Scarlet, Starlight Mangrove and Torreya.
Unverified No quests that involve Eternal Starlight were found, so there are no quest-based connections to other mods to cover here.
Which Eternal Starlight config options matter?
4 parts
Eternal Starlight keeps all of its settings in a single file, info is just a label line, so the useful parts are the portal shader toggle and the per-mob stats. Here is exactly how this pack sets them.[6]
Visual option
- enablePortalShader is set to true, so the portal shader is on in this pack. If the portal effect gives you trouble on your setup, this is the option to look at.[6]
Mob spawning
Every mob in the file has its canSpawn option set to true in this pack. That includes mobsConfig.theGatekeeper.canSpawn, mobsConfig.lunarMonstrosity.canSpawn and mobsConfig.starlightGolem.canSpawn. Nothing is switched off, so you will meet the whole cast.[6]
Tougher mob stats
Each mob has its own block of stats: maxHealth, armor, followRange, and either attackDamage or an attackDamageScale. Here are the standouts in this pack.[6]
- The Gatekeeper, the fight that unlocks the way into the starlight dimension, has mobsConfig.theGatekeeper.maxHealth at 175, mobsConfig.theGatekeeper.armor at 15, mobsConfig.theGatekeeper.attackDamage at 5 and mobsConfig.theGatekeeper.followRange at 200.[1][6]
- Lunar Monstrosity has mobsConfig.lunarMonstrosity.maxHealth at 200, mobsConfig.lunarMonstrosity.armor at 12, mobsConfig.lunarMonstrosity.followRange at 200 and mobsConfig.lunarMonstrosity.attackDamageScale at 1.[6]
- Starlight Golem has the highest health in the file: mobsConfig.starlightGolem.maxHealth is 220, with mobsConfig.starlightGolem.armor at 0, mobsConfig.starlightGolem.followRange at 200 and mobsConfig.starlightGolem.attackDamageScale at 1.[6]
- Astral Golem has mobsConfig.astralGolem.maxHealth at 100, mobsConfig.astralGolem.armor at 10, mobsConfig.astralGolem.attackDamage at 10 and mobsConfig.astralGolem.followRange at 100.[6]
- Tangled Hatred has mobsConfig.tangledHatred.maxHealth at 60, mobsConfig.tangledHatred.armor at 5, mobsConfig.tangledHatred.followRange at 100 and mobsConfig.tangledHatred.attackDamageScale at 1.[6]
Everyday mobs
The regular mobs are much squishier. Thirst Walker has mobsConfig.thirstWalker.maxHealth at 40 with mobsConfig.thirstWalker.attackDamage at 4.5. Freeze has 32 health and 5 attack damage. Lonestar Skeleton has 20 health, 3.2 attack damage and a follow range of 80, set by mobsConfig.lonestarSkeleton.followRange. Tiny critters like Gleech (8 health) and Luminaris (3 health) barely register.[6]
Unverified The sources show the values this pack uses, but they do not say which of them differ from the mod's own defaults, so I can't tell you which stats this pack changed.
What changed in Eternal Starlight between versions?
4 parts
All the Mods 10 0.51 ships Eternal Starlight 0.1.13 for Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge, and the mod has been in the pack since version 0.41 or earlier. Below are the notable changes from the mod's own changelogs for the last four releases, newest first.[8]
0.1.13 (the version in this pack)
- Combat balance: the Thirst Walker, the Velvetumoss and the Tangled were all nerfed. The Thirst Walker will also sometimes drop its teeth if you block it with a shield.[9]
- Lunar Monstrosity attacks can no longer bypass armor, and Crystalline Infection no longer causes knockback.[9]
- Building: Golem Steel and Oxidized Golem Steel now have Grate, Pillar and Bars variants, and oxidized Golem Steel blocks can be scraped with an axe.[9]
- Exploration: boss structure placement was adjusted, the Golem Forge structure was updated, and more types of Portal Ruins were added.[9]
- An Energy Block can now be extinguished with a projectile.[9]
- Gatekeeper fixes: it no longer plays boss music or shows its boss bar just because a chunk loaded, and it no longer teleports underground when it tries to return to the portal structure.[9]
- Other fixes: spell cooldowns with a high performance cost, a crash when putting an Amaramber Candle on a cake, and flickering fog from the Darkness mob effect inside the dimension.[9]
0.1.12
- Added Conventional Tags compatibility.[10]
- Fixed the Gatekeeper always trying to teleport back to its original position.[10]
0.1.11
- Gleechs are less likely to drop Gleech Eggs, and larval Gleechs no longer drop them at all.[11]
- The Saltpeter Matchbox has reduced durability, but it gained a recipe for crafting a torch.[11]
- Added Icicles, an explosion sound for the Sonar Bomb, and a smaller screen shake from the Aethersent Meteor.[11]
