What is Create?
1 part
Create is all about building machines you can actually watch work. It adds tools and blocks for building, decoration and what the devs call aesthetic automation. Instead of hiding everything inside menus, it has you set up contraptions of animated parts working together, and it leaves as many design choices to you as possible.[1]
This pack ships Create 6.0.6, and the mod has been in All the Mods 10 since version 2.39 or earlier, so it's a long-standing part of the pack.[2]
If you like hands-on tinkering, rotating shafts, conveyor belts and moving contraptions, this is the mod for you. You don't have to learn it alone either: Create's built-in visual documentation, called Ponder, walks you through its mechanics and gadgets in game.[1]
Where it fits in this pack
Create has its own quest chapter, and it's a great guided way into the mod. The opening quests have you grab the basics: Andesite Alloy, the Wrench, the Mechanical Belt, Engineer's Goggles, Super Glue and the Schematic Table.[3]
From there the chapter branches out. Once you have Andesite Casing, it opens up processing machines like the Mechanical Press, Mechanical Mixer, Millstone, Crushing Wheel, Encased Fan and Deployer. The deployer then leads on to the Precision Mechanism.[3]
The other branches follow the same pattern. Copper Casing opens up fluid handling with the Spout and Item Drain. Brass Casing comes after both the mixer and the Blaze Burner. For logistics, Cardboard leads on to the Packager.[3]
How do you get started with Create?
6 parts
Welcome to Create! This mod is all about building moving contraptions out of animated parts instead of clicking through machine menus. If you ever get stuck on how a block works, Create's built-in visual guide, Ponder, walks you through its mechanics and gadgets. In All the Mods 10, the Create quest chapter lays out a clear path, and this section follows it step by step.[1][3]
Step 1: Andesite Alloy
Your very first target is Andesite Alloy, which Create calls its most important resource. Almost every early block in the chapter branches off the a quest in "?" quest for it, so stock up.[3][4]
Step 2: Shafts and cogwheels
With alloy in hand, make a Shaft. The a quest in "?" quest follows directly after the alloy quest and unlocks a big group of follow-ups, including gearboxes, clutches and gearshifts.[3]

Recipe id: create:crafting/kinetics/shaft
Next, turn shafts into a Cogwheel or a Large Cogwheel. The a quest in "?" quest accepts either one.[3][5]

Step 3: Pick a starting setup
Right after the cogwheel quest, the chapter branches into several options. You can choose a Hand Crank in a quest in "?", a Water Wheel or Large Water Wheel in a quest in "?", or a Windmill Bearing with Windmill Sail in a quest in "?". The Steam Engine quest also branches from here, but it asks for more parts.[3]

Step 4: Andesite Casing
Andesite Casing is the base for your first real machines. Create's own advancement describes making it by applying Andesite Alloy to stripped wood, which gives you a basic casing for your machines. The a quest in "?" quest comes right after the alloy quest.[3][4]
The casing quest opens up your first processing machines. The Mechanical Press makes sheets, and the Millstone pulverises materials. The Encased Fan can process materials too, and the Mechanical Mixer combines ingredients.[3][4]

Handy extras from the first quests
- The Mechanical Belt (a quest in "?") connects two shafts. It also unlocks depots, funnels, tunnels, chutes and item vaults in the quest line.[3][4]
- The Engineer's Goggles (a quest in "?") and the Wrench (a quest in "?") are both early quests that sit alongside the alloy quest.[3]

Where this leads
Your next big goal is brass. Create makes brass ingots by alloying copper and zinc ingots in a mechanical mixer heated by a Blaze Burner. The Brass Casing quest needs both the mixer quest and the Blaze Burner quest.[3][4]
How does Create work?
11 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Create isn't a mod you play through menus. Almost everything happens in the world as animated components working together, and the mod ships its own visual in-game documentation called Ponder to walk you through each block's mechanics. Keep JEI open alongside it, because the vanilla recipe book can't guide you through Create on its own.[1]
Rotational force
Everything in Create runs on rotation. Your first sources of torque are the Water Wheel, an assembled windmill and the Hand Crank for quick manual bursts; later you graduate to the Steam Engine, which generates torque from a boiler. Windmills can be assembled at varying strengths, and boilers can be pushed all the way to their maximum level of power.[7]
Rotation is carried between machines by Shaft and by Mechanical Belts, which connect two shafts together. To change how fast that rotation moves, connect a Large Cogwheel to a Small Cogwheel (that's the basic gear shift) or use a Rotation Speed Controller when you need to fine-tune a contraption to an exact speed.[7]
Every machine you add draws on the network's stress capacity. To see exactly how loaded a network is, wear Engineer's Goggles and look at a Stressometer; it will read out the current load, up to a full 100% readout when you've maxed the network.[7]
Casings and materials
Andesite Alloy is Create's most important resource and the gateway to the first machine tier. Machines are then built around casings: Andesite Casing for the basic tier, Brass Casing for the more sophisticated machines, and Copper Casing as the waterproof option for fluid work. Brass itself is alloyed in a Mechanical Mixer heated by a Blaze Burner.[7]
Further up the chain you'll refine Powdered Obsidian into Sturdy Sheets, polish Rose Quartz, and assemble the Precision Mechanism, the component-crafting item that gates Create's most advanced gear.[7]
Processing machines
Most of Create's ore and food processing comes from a handful of powered blocks, each with its own recipe type:[7]
- The Millstone pulverises materials on its own, while a pair of powered Crushing Wheels does the same job at far higher throughput and can be run right up to maximum speed.[7]
- The Mechanical Press makes sheets, and when placed over a Basin it performs compacting, turning more items into fewer.[7]
- The Mechanical Mixer combines ingredients in a Basin, and with a Blaze Burner underneath it handles heated recipes such as alloying.[7]
- An upright Mechanical Saw processes materials placed in front of it.[7]
- The Encased Fan pushes air through fire, water, lava or ice to perform fan processing: washing, smelting and the like.[7]
- The Deployer acts as a stand-in for you, using items and tools on whatever is in front of it.[7]
- Mechanical Crafters chained together handle multi-step crafting automatically; they can be deliberately slowed right down if you feed them very low speed.[7]
Moving items around
Funnels extract from and insert into containers, Chutes move items vertically, and belts carry them horizontally. For more flexible routing, the Mechanical Arm picks items up and delivers them to targets you program in: it can handle 10 or more output locations from a single arm, including odd jobs like feeding a Blaze Burner. The Weighted Ejector launches items (and players) across gaps, with enough range to throw you more than 30 blocks.[7]
Filters are what make all of this precise. List Filter matches a list of items, Attribute Filter matches by item properties, and Package Filter handles Create's packages. All three can be wiped back to blank on a crafting grid if you want to reuse them.[8]
Clearing a used List Filter.
Fluids
Fluid Pipes and the Mechanical Pump move liquids around; the pulling end of a pipe or pump is what collects water from a source, and pipes can even draw honey straight out of a Bee Nest or Beehive. Wrenching a pipe that contains fluid turns it into a windowed pipe so you can watch the contents. Watch out when two different fluids meet in the same network.[7]
For bulk work, the Hose Pulley lowers into a body of fluid to drain or fill it, and a large enough lava lake counts as infinite. On the item side, the Spout fills fluid-containing items from above and the Item Drain empties them as they roll across it, you can chain several drains in a row for continuous emptying.[7]
Steam and boilers
Fluid Tanks double as boilers: heat them, attach Steam Engines, and you get torque scaled to the boiler's power level. Steam Whistles mounted on a tank play notes, and a single Fluid Tank can carry up to 12 uniquely pitched whistles if you want a working pipe organ.[7]
Contraptions
Contraptions are groups of blocks that move as one. Super Glue binds loose blocks into a group, bearings (including the Clockwork Bearing) spin assembled structures, and the Rope Pulley raises and lowers them, it can extend over 200 blocks deep. Minecart Contraptions can carry at least 200 attached blocks, and with a Deployer on board they'll even place track in front of themselves as they go.[7]
Contraptions aren't just scenery: drills, saws and harvesters mounted on them keep working while they move, and a Portable Storage Interface lets you push items into or pull them out of a moving contraption from a fixed point.[7]
Trains
Train Tracks, Train Casing made from Sturdy Sheets and a bearing get you an assembled Train. Trains can be built out to 6 or more carriages, driven by a conductor following a Train Schedule, and managed on shared track with Train Signals. They can pass through portals, and Train Seats will happily carry you thousands of blocks: over 5,000 blocks from where you started, if you're patient. Display Links can forecast a train's arrival on a Display Board.[7]
Packages and requests
Create's logistics layer works with cardboard packages. A Packager boxes items up from an inventory, Chain Conveyors carry packages across your base, and a Frogport catches them at the destination. A Stock Ticker lets you employ a mob and place item requests against your network, while Factory Gauges trigger those package requests automatically when stock runs low. A Table Cloth turns a block into a small shop you can put items up for sale on.[7]
Control and readouts
Redstone Link pairs transmit redstone wirelessly, and the Linked Controller activates those links from your hand. Display Links visualise information from blocks onto displays such as Display Boards. The Clipboard keeps notes, and it also copies settings like filters from one block with a right-click and applies them elsewhere with a left-click, a huge time-saver when you're configuring a row of identical machines.[7]

For rails, the Controller Rail is a uni-directional powered rail whose speed varies with the redstone signal strength you feed it.[7]
Gear and gadgets
A Copper Backtank accumulates air pressure while it's driven, and paired with a Copper Diving Helmet it becomes a diving suit for extended underwater work. Netherite diving gear goes a step further and survives a dip in lava. Other handheld tools include the Extendo Grip for extra reach and the Potato Cannon.[7]

Cardboard isn't only for packages: you can craft a full set of cardboard armour and a cardboard sword from it, and sneaking around in the full set is its own little achievement.[7][8]
How do you progress through Create?
9 parts
The Create quest chapter in this pack is a big branching tree, not one long line. It opens with several starter quests that all come off the same root: Andesite Alloy, the Wrench, Engineer's Goggles, the Mechanical Belt, Super Glue and the Schematic Table. Andesite Alloy is the one to chase first, because nearly everything in the early game builds on it.[3]
Andesite tier: shafts, casings and your first machines
Once you have Andesite Alloy, the tree splits three ways. You get a Shaft quest, an Andesite Casing quest and a Piston Extension Pole quest. The Shaft branch covers the basic kinetic parts: cogwheels, the Gearbox, the Vertical Gearbox, the Clutch, the Gearshift and the Encased Chain Drive.[3]

Power generation
Power branches off the cogwheel quest a quest in "?", which accepts either a Cogwheel or a Large Cogwheel. After it you can pick up the Hand Crank, a Water Wheel or Large Water Wheel, a Windmill Bearing with a Windmill Sail, and the steam setup. The steam quest asks for a Steam Engine, a Fluid Tank and a Shaft together.[3]

The Speedometer and Stressometer quests need both the cogwheel quest a quest in "?" and the Andesite Casing quest. They're great for figuring out why a machine stopped spinning.[3]
Contraptions
Moving contraptions hinge on quest a quest in "?", which asks for Super Glue and Andesite Casing. That one quest unlocks a whole fan of builds: the Mechanical Bearing, Mechanical Drill, Mechanical Saw, Mechanical Plough, Mechanical Harvester, Linear Chassis, Radial Chassis, Rope Pulley, Cart Assembler, the gantry pieces and the Clockwork Bearing. The piston quest needs both this quest and the Piston Extension Pole quest, and accepts either a Mechanical Piston or a Sticky Mechanical Piston.[3]
Logistics
The Mechanical Belt quest leads into item handling: the Depot, Chute, Andesite Funnel, Andesite Tunnel, Brass Funnel, Brass Tunnel, Item Vault and Cardboard. After those, the Depot leads to the Weighted Ejector, the Chute leads to the Smart Chute, and Cardboard leads to the Packager.[3]

Copper tier: fluids
The fluid side starts with three quests: Fluid Pipe, Fluid Tank and Copper Casing. The pipe quest leads on to the Mechanical Pump, Fluid Valve and Smart Fluid Pipe. The Copper Casing quest opens the Spout, Item Drain and Hose Pulley. The Portable Fluid Interface quest needs both Copper Casing and the contraption quest. The Basin quest needs both the Fluid Pipe and Mechanical Belt quests.[3]
Brass tier
Brass is where the pack's Create chapter ramps up. The Brass Casing quest needs both the Mechanical Mixer quest and the Blaze Burner quest. Separately, the Deployer quest leads to the Precision Mechanism. Precision Mechanism plus Brass Casing then unlocks the Mechanical Arm. Brass Casing also opens the Mechanical Crafter and Train Casing quests. On the kinetic side, the Gearshift leads to the Sequenced Gearshift, and the Encased Chain Drive leads to the Adjustable Chain Gearshift. The Spout quest leads to the Blaze Cake.[3]

Trains
Trains start from the Train Track quest, which follows the Deployer quest. The Train Station quest needs both Train Track and Train Casing. From there, quest a quest in "?" asks for Train Controls, Super Glue and Train Casing. It branches into the Train Schedule, Train Signal and Train Observer quests.[3]
Schematics and stock logistics
The Schematic Table quest leads to the Schematicannon. The newer logistics blocks form their own little chain. The Chain Conveyor leads to the Package Frogport, and the Stock Link leads to the Stock Ticker.[3]
Unverified The Stock Link and Chain Conveyor quests depend on a quest that isn't included in the provided quest data, so what unlocks them couldn't be confirmed.
Create outside its own chapter
Create also appears in another of the pack's quest chapters, which asks for a Blaze Burner and a Mechanical Arm. Follow-up quests there accept either the Create item or an alternative from another mod.[6]
How does Create work with other mods?
5 parts
Create is one of the most connected mods in this pack. The pack reworks some of its processing recipes to feed into other mods, and a whole group of add-ons and magic mods use Create parts as crafting components. Here's where those connections show up.[5]
Ore processing with All the Ores
The pack changed Create's ore crushing recipes. Copper, iron, gold and zinc ores now crush into All the Ores clumps such as Copper Clump, Iron Clump, Gold Clump and Zinc Clump, plus a Nugget of Experience and some leftover stone. Crushing Crimsite gives an Iron Clump, and crushing Asurine gives a Zinc Clump and a Zinc Nugget.[5]
Crushing (create)
- any iron ore
Recipe id: create:crushing/deepslate_iron_ore
One of the pack's changed crushing recipes
The pack also changed the blasting recipes for Create's crushed ores. Crushed Raw Aluminum, Crushed Raw Lead, Crushed Raw Silver and Crushed Raw Tin smelt into All the Ores ingots such as Aluminum Ingot and Silver Ingot.[5]
Create also crushes Silent Gems ores, giving you the gem, a Nugget of Experience and a stone byproduct. The pack changed the peridot, ruby and sapphire versions so they give Peridot, Ruby and Sapphire from any matching ore.[5]
Experience with Create Enchantment Industry
All those Nuggets of Experience are useful. Create Enchantment Industry can grind a Nugget of Experience or a Block of Experience into Liquid Experience. Liquid Experience can be compacted back into a Block of Experience, and pressing that block makes an Enchanting Template.[5]
Several of its machines are built from Create parts. The Blaze Enchanter and Blaze Forger are smithing upgrades of a Blaze Burner using a Create Dragons Plus template. The Printer uses a Spout, and the Experience Hatch is applied onto a Fluid Hatch, which itself comes from an Item Drain.[5]
Smithing Transform
Recipe id: create_enchantment_industry:smithing/blaze_enchanter
Ars Nouveau and Ars Technica
Ars Technica is the magic-meets-machines bridge. Its key part is the Calibrated Precision Mechanism, made in the Enchanting Apparatus from a Create Precision Mechanism. That part then goes into the Source Motor, the ars_technica:runic_spanner, the Mark of Technomancy and the Pressure thread.[5]
Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)
Recipe id: ars_technica:calibrated_precision_mechanism
Its glyphs also use Create items. Glyph Apply needs a Brass Hand, Glyph Polish needs Sand Paper, Glyph Press needs a Mechanical Press, and Glyph Superheat needs a Blaze Cake. The Technomancer's Hat is an upgrade built on Engineer's Goggles. From Ars Creo, the Starbuncle Wheel is crafted from a Create Water Wheel.[5]
Decoration, trains and transport
Bells and Whistles turns Andesite Alloy into train details like Andesite Steps, Andesite Grab Bars and Andesite Pilot. It makes polished pilots from Create's polished cut stones, and it turns an Ornate Iron Window into an Ornate Iron Trapdoor.[5]
The Hypertube Entrance Block uses a Smart Chute and a Cogwheel. Create Aquatic Ambitions uses a Fluid Pipe in its Conduit Cage and adds crushing recipes for nautilus shells and prismarine bricks. The pack changed the prismarine bricks recipe so it gives an All the Ores Copper Nugget.[5]
Endgame crafting
The pack also adds Create parts to its own endgame recipes. The Nexium Emitter needs a Mechanical Arm, and Philosopher's Fuel needs a Blaze Burner. The Creative Blaze Cake is a pack-added Mechanical Crafting recipe that combines an ATM Star with cakes from several mods.[5]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use Create?
4 parts
Create has its own quest chapter in this pack, and a few Create items also show up in a second chapter. Every quest in the Create chapter is untitled and simply asks you to get a specific item. The chapter branches out from a handful of starting quests, so you can follow whichever line interests you most.[3][6]
The Create chapter: getting started
The Blaze Burner quest a quest in "?" has no prerequisite. A group of early quests unlocks after a quest that isn't listed in the chapter data. These ask for the Andesite Alloy, Wrench, Engineer's Goggles, Mechanical Belt, Super Glue and Schematic Table. The Schematic Table quest leads to the Schematicannon quest a quest in "?".[3]
- Andesite Alloy a quest in "?" unlocks Andesite Casing, Shaft and Piston Extension Pole.[3]
- Andesite Casing a quest in "?" opens your first machines: Encased Fan, Mechanical Press, Deployer, Crushing Wheel, Mechanical Mixer and Millstone.[3]
- Shaft a quest in "?" branches into the Gearbox, Vertical Gearbox, Clutch, Gearshift (then Sequenced Gearshift) and Encased Chain Drive (then Adjustable Chain Gearshift). It also leads to a quest where you can hand in either cogwheel size.[3]
- That cogwheel quest a quest in "?" covers power. It opens quests for the Hand Crank, either water wheel size, the Windmill Bearing with a Windmill Sail, and a steam setup a quest in "?". For the steam setup you need a Steam Engine, Fluid Tank and Shaft. After you get both cogwheels in a quest in "?", the Speedometer and Stressometer quests open.[3]
Logistics and fluids
The Mechanical Belt quest a quest in "?" opens item handling: Depot (then Weighted Ejector), Chute (then Smart Chute), both funnels, both tunnels, the Item Vault and Cardboard (then Packager). The Basin quest needs both the belt quest and the Fluid Pipe quest.[3]
The fluid line begins with the Fluid Pipe, Copper Casing and Fluid Tank quests, all behind a quest the data doesn't list. Fluid Pipe leads to the Mechanical Pump, Smart Fluid Pipe and Fluid Valve. Copper Casing leads to the Spout (then Blaze Cake), Item Drain and Hose Pulley.[3]
The Stock Link and Chain Conveyor quests also sit behind an unlisted quest. They lead on to the Stock Ticker and Package Frogport.[3]
Contraptions, brass and trains
Quest a quest in "?" asks for Super Glue and Andesite Casing, and it is the hub for contraptions. It opens the pistons (together with the extension pole quest), Mechanical Bearing, Clockwork Bearing, Rope Pulley, Cart Assembler, both chassis, the gantry parts, and the Mechanical Drill, Mechanical Saw, Mechanical Harvester and Mechanical Plough. Together with Copper Casing, it also unlocks the Portable Fluid Interface.[3]
To reach Brass Casing in a quest in "?", you need the Mechanical Mixer and Blaze Burner quests. Brass Casing then opens the Mechanical Crafter and Train Casing. The Deployer leads to the Precision Mechanism. The Mechanical Arm quest needs both the Precision Mechanism and Brass Casing quests.[3]
Trains start with Train Track, which comes after the Deployer quest. Track plus Train Casing unlocks the Train Station. Next, a quest in "?" asks for Train Controls, Super Glue and Train Casing. After that you can do the Train Schedule, Train Signal, Train Observer, Train Controls and Super Glue quests. The Schedule quest also has a second task that the data doesn't identify.[3]
Create in chapter_2_the_star
The chapter_2_the_star chapter has two quests that ask for a Blaze Burner and a Mechanical Arm. Two follow-up quests let you hand in either of those Create items or an alternative item from Modern Industrialization. Getting the Blaze Burner and Mechanical Arm through the Create chapter covers these tasks too.[3][6]
Which Create config options matter?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
There's nothing to report here yet. No Create config files from this pack were available when this page was written, so there's no way to confirm which options All the Mods 10 changed from the mod's defaults.[1]
Unverified Any specific Create config values for this pack version, including kinetic stress limits, contraption size caps, world generation toggles and client rendering options, are unverified. Check the pack's config folder in your instance before relying on a number you read elsewhere.
