What is Create Crafts & Additions?

1 part

Create Crafts & Additions extends Create and acts as a bridge between electricity and Create's kinetic energy. The Electric Motor generates kinetic energy from Forge Energy, and the Alternator does the opposite at 75% efficiency. To craft those you first need the Rolling Mill, a kinetic machine that makes rods and wires.[1]

Around that core you get connectors and wires for moving energy, the Accumulator as multiblock energy storage, and the Portable Energy Interface for moving energy to and from contraptions. The Tesla Coil charges electric items and can also damage players and mobs, and the Straw lets a Blaze Burner burn liquid fuels. This pack includes version 1.7.2 of the mod.[1][2]

Where it sits in the quest book

The pack's quest book covers this mod in the "Create Addons" chapter, in the "Tech" group. It is chapter 31 of 67 in the book and holds 50 quests. The chapter is shared with other Create addons, such as Create: Dragons Plus, Create Aquatic Ambitions, Create Enchantment Industry, Ars Creo and some train decoration quests, so this mod's quests are one branch of a bigger chapter.[3]

The mod's branch starts with "Create Crafts and Additions" quest, which asks for the Rolling Mill. Three quests come directly after it:[3]

The Capacitor quest then leads to three more: "Electric Pump" quest, "Accumulator" quest and "Tesla Coil" quest. After the Accumulator comes "Portable Energy Interface" quest, which is the last quest of this branch that the sources here show.[3]

Tip: The quest text of 22 of the 50 quests in this chapter is not covered here. Check the quest book in game for those.[3]

How do you get started with Create Crafts & Additions?

6 parts

Create Crafts & Additions is the bridge between Create's rotational power and electricity. In this pack the quest book puts it in the "Create Addons" chapter of the Tech group, and the chapter's first quest for it is "Create Crafts and Additions" quest. Here is the order I'd go in.[1][3]

Step one: build the Rolling Mill

Everything starts with the Rolling Mill. The quest describes it as 2 tiny Crushing Wheels put into one machine. Give it Rotational Power and drop items in from the top to roll them out into new ones: ingots into bars, and plates into wires. You need wires to move energy, so this comes first.[3]

The first craft in the chain.

Step two: roll some wire

Feed a copper plate into the Rolling Mill and you get 2 Copper Wire. Copper wire is what the Copper Spool recipe asks for, so it is the natural first wire to make.[4]

One copper plate becomes 2 wires.

Step three: make spools

Wires reach connectors through spools. One craft of Empty Spool gives you 24 Empty Spools, so you won't run out quickly. Then combine an Empty Spool with wire to make a Copper Spool.[4]

The "Wire Spools" quest quest explains how they work. Right click one connector with the spool, then right click the other to place the wire. To take a wire down, use the Empty Spool on the connector. Copper wire can only join Small Connectors, while the other spools can also join Large Connectors.[3]

Step four: craft connectors

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: createaddition:crafting/connector

One craft gives you 3 Small Connectors.

Per the "Connectors" quest quest, connectors are how this mod moves energy. You place them on blocks and attach wire between them. A Small Connector can link to 4 other connectors, and a Large Connector to 6 (but a Large Connector can't use copper wire). Use a Wrench on a connector to change whether it pushes, pulls or does neither.[3]

Step five: turn power into energy and back

Next come the two machines that make the bridge. The Alternator takes in Rotational Power and gives out energy. The Electric Motor does the opposite. In the quest book both come right after the Wire Spools quest.[3]

Tip: The Alternator's Ponder scene says it needs at least 32 RPM to operate, so make sure your kinetic setup spins fast enough.[5]

Where to go next

The "Capacitor" quest quest comes after Connectors, and the quest book places the Electric Pump, the Accumulator and the Tesla Coil after it. The Capacitor is also an ingredient in the Electric Motor recipe, so it is worth crafting early.[3][4]

How does Create Crafts & Additions work?

7 parts

Create Crafts & Additions is the bridge between Create's rotational force and electricity. The mod's own description says the Electric Motor turns Forge Energy into kinetic energy, and the Alternator does the opposite at 75% efficiency. Everything else in the mod, from connectors and wires to the Accumulator, exists to move that energy around.[1]

Turning rotation into power and back

The Alternator makes electric energy from rotational force. It needs at least 32 RPM to run, and the more RPM you feed it, the more energy it produces.[5]

The Alternator is made with mechanical crafting.

The Electric Motor goes the other way. It is a compact, configurable source of rotational force, and it needs an energy source to work. Scroll on its back panel to set the RPM of its output. The RPM you choose sets how much energy the motor consumes.[5][6]

Connectors and wires

Energy travels through wires between connectors. Each connector has one of three modes. A producer such as the Alternator needs a connector in Pull mode, which pulls energy out of the block it is attached to. A consumer such as the Electric Motor needs a connector in Push mode, which pushes energy into its block. A connector in None mode ignores the block it sits on and only relays energy through its wires, so you can place it on any block.[5]

Use a Wrench on a connector to cycle its mode. To link two connectors, right-click both with a Copper Spool, and energy then flows from producer to consumer.[5]

  • Small Connector (Small Connector): uses low current wires. Hold a Copper, Gold or Electrum Spool to link it with up to 4 other connectors.[5]
  • Large Connector: uses high current wires. Hold a Gold or Electrum Spool to link it with up to 6 other connectors.[5]
  • Redstone Relay: uses low current wires and lets energy pass from its input connector to its output connector only while it receives a redstone signal.[5][7]

To remove a wire, right-click both of its ends with an Empty Spool. The wire comes back to you as a filled spool.[5]

Two more blocks have simple jobs. The Tesla Coil charges electric items and can also damage players and mobs. Barbed Wire damages whatever walks through it.[1][5]

How do you progress through Create Crafts & Additions?

7 parts

Create Crafts & Additions lives in the Create Addons chapter of the Tech group in the pack's quest book. The chapter starts the mod with one quest and branches from there, so the quests give you a clear order to follow. Here is that order, tier by tier, with the in-pack recipe for each step.[3]

Tier 1: The Rolling Mill

The quest "Create Crafts and Additions" quest is the start of the whole mod. The Rolling Mill needs Rotational Power. You drop items into the top and it rolls them into new ones: ingots into bars, plates into wires. You need those wires for moving energy.[3]

The pack has changed the charging recipe that turns gold wire into Electrum Wire. The sources here do not say what was changed. Check that recipe in-game before you plan around it.[4]

Tier 2: Connectors and wire spools

Next is "Connectors" quest. Connectors are how this mod moves energy: you place them on blocks and attach wire between them. A Small Connector can link to 4 other connectors and a Large Connector to 6, but a Large Connector can't use copper wire. You need a Wrench to set whether a connector pushes, pulls or does neither. The Small Connector With Light lights up when it receives energy.[3]

"Wire Spools" quest comes after the first quest. Spools attach connectors to each other. Right click one connector with the spool, then right click the other. To take a wire down, use an Empty Spool on the connector. Copper wire only connects Small Connectors, while the other spools can also reach Large Connectors. The Copper Spool with Festive Lights works like copper with Christmas lights on it.[3]

Tier 3: Turning power into energy and back

Both of these quests unlock after Wire Spools. "Alternator" quest takes in Rotational Power and gives out energy. "Electric Motor" quest does the reverse, taking energy and giving Rotational Power. Both are made with mechanical crafting in this pack.[3][4]

Tier 4: Storage and machines

"Capacitor" quest follows Connectors. The quest calls capacitors this mod's version of batteries. The Capacitor is the key ingredient for everything else in this tier. The pack has two crafting recipes for it, and the one shown here is the first.[3][4]

Three quests unlock after the Capacitor quest.[3]

  • "Electric Pump" quest: works like a Mechanical Pump but runs on energy. It takes energy from its sides, holds at most 5kFE, and has a toggle for pumping speed. The faster it pumps, the more energy it uses.[3]
  • "Accumulator" quest: a multiblock energy store. You can combine several into 2x2 or 3x3 shapes, all the way up to 3x3x5, and their storage adds together. Each one carries 2MFE, and you use the top or bottom sides to input and output energy.[3]
  • "Tesla Coil" quest: fed energy and placed above a Depot, it charges items such as the Capacitor and Jetpacks. Give it a Redstone signal and it damages and shocks nearby entities instead. The Shock effect freezes you and mobs in place.[3]

Tier 5: Energy on contraptions

The last step on this branch is "Portable Energy Interface" quest, which comes after the Accumulator. Portable Energy Interfaces move energy to or from an Accumulator on a Contraption. When the Contraption has an Accumulator and a PEI 1 or 2 blocks away from another PEI, the Contraption freezes and the two connect. Which direction the energy flows depends on the connector used on the PEI that is not on the Contraption.[3]

Side step: the Straw

a quest in "Create Addons" also unlocks right after the first quest, so you can do it any time. A Straw is an accessory for Blaze Burners. Once a Blaze Burner has one, it takes in fluid fuels like Lava, either hand fed from buckets or piped in. In the pack you make Straws on the Rolling Mill from bamboo or from paper.[3][4]

How does Create Crafts & Additions work with other mods?

4 parts

Create Crafts & Additions is a bridge mod: it sits on top of Create and connects its rotational power to energy. In the pack's quest book, Alternator takes in rotational power and gives out energy, and Electric Motor takes in energy and gives out rotational power. Most of what you build with this mod starts from Create parts.[3]

Create is the backbone

The "Create Addons" quest chapter opens this mod's line with the Rolling Mill (quest "Create Crafts and Additions" quest). It is a Create-style machine: give it rotational power and drop items in from the top to roll ingots into bars and plates into wires. You need those wires to move energy.[3]

The Rolling Mill is a crafting-table recipe, not a machine recipe.

The mod's machines are mostly made with Create's mechanical crafting, and a few use Create parts such as casings, electron tubes and bearings. The Servo Motor is a good example of a recipe that mixes both mods.[4]

Servo MotorMod recipe

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: createaddition:crafting/servo_motor

Some recipes ask for any item in a common tag (rods, plates, wires) instead of one fixed item. The Large Connector recipe, for example, accepts any rod from the mod's own usable-rods tag, which lists gold and electrum rods.[4][8]

Two more quests tie the mod into Create directly. The Tesla Coil is placed above a Depot to charge items, and the Portable Energy Interface moves energy between an Accumulator on a Contraption and the world. The Straw is an accessory for Blaze Burners that lets them take fluid fuels like lava.[3]

Fuel from Create ingredients

Biofuel is made in a Create mixing recipe that gives 125 per batch.[4]

The pack adds its own recipe for the Creative Blaze Cake, and it is the biggest cross-mod recipe tied to this mod. It is a mechanical crafting recipe that needs cakes from several mods, including this mod's chocolate and honey cakes. The others come from Create, Create: Enchantment Industry, Pam's HarvestCraft - Food Core and Pam's HarvestCraft 2 - Food Extended, and it also needs an ATM Star from AllTheTweaks.[4]

This recipe is added by the pack, not by any of the mods.

Where it sits in the quest book

The quests are in the "Create Addons" chapter, in the Tech group, which is chapter 31 of 67. The same chapter covers other Create addons, such as Create: Enchantment Industry (quest "Create Enchantment Industry" quest), Create: Aquatic Ambitions (quest "Create Aquatic Ambitions" quest), Ars Creo (quest "Ars Creo" quest) and Create: Bells & Whistles (quest "A Headlight" quest).[3]

This mod's own quests run in this order:[3]

The mod's own item tags also name a few Farmer's Delight items. The plant foods tag lists the pumpkin slice, rotten tomato and rice panicle. The plants tag lists the sandy shrub and the brown and red mushroom colonies.[9][10]

Unverified The "Create Addons" chapter has 50 quests, and the text of 31 of them is not shown in the sources here. Any further integrations those quests describe are in the quest book itself.

Which All the Mods 10 quests use Create Crafts & Additions?

2 parts

All the quests for Create Crafts & Additions sit in one chapter of the pack's quest book: "Create Addons", in the Tech group (chapter 31 of 67). It has 50 quests and is shared with other Create add-ons, so you will see Enchantment Industry, Dragon's Plus and train decoration quests mixed in. The Create Crafts and Additions quests form a single branch that starts at the Rolling Mill and grows from there.[3]

The quest order

  1. "Create Crafts and Additions" quest is the start of the branch and asks for the Rolling Mill. You give it Rotational Power and drop items on top: ingots become bars and plates become wires. You need those wires for moving energy.[3]
  2. Three quests unlock right after it: "Wire Spools" quest, a quest in "Create Addons" and "Connectors" quest.[3]
  3. "Wire Spools" quest accepts any of the Copper Spool, Gold Spool, Electrum Spool or Copper Spool with Festive Lights. Spools attach connectors to other connectors. Copper wire can only join Small Connectors, while the other spools can also join Large Connectors. The Festive spool is the same as copper, just with Christmas lights.[3]
  4. a quest in "Create Addons" has no title of its own in the book and asks for the Straw. A Blaze Burner given a Straw takes in fluid fuels like lava, either hand fed from buckets or piped in.[3]
  5. "Connectors" quest accepts the Small Connector, Small Connector With Light or Large Connector. Small Connectors can link to 4 other connectors, and Large Connectors to 6 but they can't use copper wire. The light version lights up when it receives energy.[3]
  6. After Wire Spools you get two quests: "Alternator" quest for the Alternator, which takes in Rotational Power and gives out energy, and "Electric Motor" quest for the Electric Motor, which does the reverse.[3]
  7. "Capacitor" quest follows Connectors and asks for the Capacitor, the mod's version of a battery.[3]
  8. Three quests unlock after the Capacitor: "Electric Pump" quest, "Accumulator" quest and "Tesla Coil" quest.[3]
  9. "Portable Energy Interface" quest comes last and follows the Accumulator quest.[3]

What the later quests ask for

"Electric Pump" quest asks for the Electric Pump. It takes energy from its sides, holds at most 5kFE, and you can toggle its pumping speed. A faster speed uses more energy.[3]

"Accumulator" quest asks for the Accumulator, a multiblock energy store. You can combine several into 2x2 or 3x3, all the way up to 3x3x5, and their storage adds together. Each one carries 2MFE, and you use the top or bottom sides for input and output.[3]

"Tesla Coil" quest asks for the Tesla Coil. Feed it energy and place it above a Depot to charge items such as the Capacitor. Give it a Redstone signal and it damages and shocks nearby entities instead, and the Shock effect freezes you and mobs in place.[3]

"Portable Energy Interface" quest asks for the Portable Energy Interface. It moves energy to or from an Accumulator on a Contraption. When the Contraption has an Accumulator and one of these interfaces is 1 or 2 blocks from another, the Contraption freezes and connects them.[3]

Tip: You'll need a Wrench to switch a connector between pushing, pulling or neither, so grab one before you start wiring up your power network.[3]

What changed in Create Crafts & Additions between versions?

3 parts

Create Crafts & Additions joined the pack at version 1.4.2 in All the Mods 10 2.47, and All the Mods 10 8.3 ships version 1.7.2. Here is what changed along the way, from the pack changelogs and the mod's own release notes.[2][11]

Getting started: 1.4.2 to 1.5.x

  • Pack 2.47 added version 1.4.2. That release added missing tags, added tooltips to the Tesla Coil and Liquid Blaze Burner, and fixed broken recipes and a crash.[11][12]
  • Pack 4.5 moved to 1.5.1, which fixed missing recipes.[13][14]
  • Pack 4.7 moved to 1.5.2. It added an alternative recipe for Straw, fixed the Redstone Relay and fixed broken compatibility recipes.[15][16]
  • Pack 4.11 moved to 1.5.3. Barbed wire became waterloggable, and the Tesla Coil and barbed wire death messages were fixed.[17][18]
  • Pack 4.13 moved to 1.5.5, which fixed an uncommon crash on launch.[19][20]
  • Pack 4.15 moved to 1.5.8. That release updated to Create 6.0.8 and fixed the Liquid Blaze Burner.[21][22]
  • Pack 5.2 moved to 1.5.9, which fixed a sound crash and the stress tooltips.[23][24]
  • Pack 5.5 moved to 1.5.10, a release of general fixes.[25][26]

Bigger changes: 1.6.0 and 1.7.x

Pack 7.1 updated to 1.6.0, the first release in this history with a real list of gameplay changes. The Capacitor can now be charged with FE, and the Alternator now has a shaft on both sides. The Pale Gold Amulet was reworked in how it charges items with the shock effect, and the Tesla Coil now emits light when active. Textures were updated for the Alternator, Pale Gold Amulet and barbed wire. Fixes covered Sable docking compatibility and the Tesla Coil reporting the correct remaining time when starved for energy.[27][28]

Pack 8.1 updated to 1.7.0, which brought a new servo motor plus improved Sable support and connector support.[29][30]

Pack 8.2 updated to 1.7.1, which added the Electric Pump block and various bug fixes.[31][32]

Current version: 1.7.2

All the Mods 10 8.3 includes 1.7.2. Here is what that release brings:[2][33]

  • Charging is now supported in Sequenced Assembly.[33]
  • There are extra ponder scenes for Connectors, the Electric Pump and the Electric Servo.[33]
  • You can rotate the Electric Servo around its axis with the wrench.[33]
  • The reworked Connectors should now work across unloaded chunks, and their wire rendering and culling were improved.[33]
  • The Servo no longer rotates the wrong way when facing north, west and down.[33]
  • The Liquid Blaze Burner now handles refueling with fluid container items properly.[33]
