What is Create?
2 parts
Create is all about building machines you can actually watch work. Instead of hiding everything inside menus, it gives you tools and blocks for building, decoration and aesthetic automation. You connect animated parts into contraptions, and you can arrange them in a huge number of ways.[1]
If you enjoy designing your own setups rather than following a fixed layout, this mod is for you. It leaves as many design choices as possible up to you. Its built-in visual guide, Ponder, walks you through every mechanic and gadget. The mod authors also recommend a recipe viewer like JEI, because the vanilla recipe book can't show you everything Create needs.[1]
Create in this pack
This pack runs Create 6.0.10. It also has a full Create quest chapter to guide you. Good early grabs are the Wrench, which rotates, breaks and configures Create blocks, and the Engineer's Goggles, which show you speed, stress and other machine info. "Item Logistics" quest then teaches you to move items with belts.[2][3]
Almost everything starts with Andesite Alloy, the crafting ingredient for almost all of Create's machines and items. From there the chapter leads you to Andesite Casing, then branches into the Deployer and the Mechanical Mixer.[3]
The ATM Star path
If you're heading for the ATM Star, you'll be passing through Create. The ATM Star path in this chapter includes "Andesite Alloys" quest, "Machines" quest, "Deployer" quest, "Mechanical Mixer" quest and "Blaze Burner" quest. It also includes "Precision Mechanism" quest, which follows the Deployer, and "Brass Casing" quest, which needs both the Mechanical Mixer and the Blaze Burner first.[3]
How do you get started with Create?
5 parts
Create's quest chapter starts with the "Create" quest quest, and almost everything you need early on unlocks right after it. Follow the steps below in order and you'll go from zero to a moving machine setup without getting lost.[3]
Step 1: Andesite Alloy
Your very first goal is Andesite Alloy, Create's most important resource. It doesn't do much on its own, but it is a crafting ingredient for almost all machines and items, so make a good stack. The "Andesite Alloys" quest quest explains how to make it in this pack.[3][4]
Step 2: Andesite Casing
With alloy in hand, make Andesite Casing. This isn't a crafting table recipe: strip some wood with an axe, then right-click the stripped wood with Andesite Alloy. You'll need casing for many, many machines, and it also looks good as decoration. The "Machines" quest quest tracks this step.[3][4]
To see why casing matters so much, look at the in-pack recipes: the Depot, Gearbox and Mechanical Press all use it.[5]
Step 3: Shafts and Cogwheels
Every Create machine needs rotational power to work, which simply means your machines are moving. Shaft is your starting point: shafts placed in a straight line on the same axis all turn together when one of them moves. The "Rotational Power" quest quest covers shafts. Cogwheels also carry rotational power to your machines.[3]
Cogwheel
Step 4: Your Tools
- Wrench is the Swiss Army knife of Create. Right-click to rotate a block, shift-right-click any Create block to break it, and you'll also use it to set block configs and to build contraptions later.[3]
- Engineer's Goggles show you what's going on inside your setup when you wear them. Machines like the Deployer or Mechanical Press show how many Stress Units they use, a Stressometer shows how much stress is supplied and how much the network can take, and a Speedometer shows your system's speed.[3]

Step 5: Belts and Depots
Machines like Millstones, Deployers and Mechanical Mixers all need items, and belts are how Create wants you to move them. A Mechanical Belt links two shafts, and the belt runs at the same speed and in the same direction as those shafts. You can place belts horizontally, vertically or diagonally.[3]
Items on a belt can't despawn. If a belt just ends, items drop off. If it runs into a Depot, the item is placed on the Depot, and if it passes under a machine, the machine processes it. You can right-click the belt to grab items off it.[3]

A Depot holds items so they can be processed, passed to a chute, or simply displayed. Put one under a machine to process whatever sits on it.[3]

How does Create work?
11 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Create isn't a mod you play through menus. Almost everything happens in the world as animated components working together, and the mod ships its own visual in-game documentation called Ponder to walk you through each block's mechanics. Keep JEI open alongside it, because the vanilla recipe book can't guide you through Create on its own.[1]
Rotational force
Everything in Create runs on rotation. Your first sources of torque are the Water Wheel, an assembled windmill and the Hand Crank for quick manual bursts; later you graduate to the Steam Engine, which generates torque from a boiler. Windmills can be assembled at varying strengths, and boilers can be pushed all the way to their maximum level of power.[6]
Rotation is carried between machines by Shaft and by Mechanical Belts, which connect two shafts together. To change how fast that rotation moves, connect a Large Cogwheel to a Small Cogwheel (that's the basic gear shift) or use a Rotation Speed Controller when you need to fine-tune a contraption to an exact speed.[6]
Every machine you add draws on the network's stress capacity. To see exactly how loaded a network is, wear Engineer's Goggles and look at a Stressometer; it will read out the current load, up to a full 100% readout when you've maxed the network.[6]
Casings and materials
Andesite Alloy is Create's most important resource and the gateway to the first machine tier. Machines are then built around casings: Andesite Casing for the basic tier, Brass Casing for the more sophisticated machines, and Copper Casing as the waterproof option for fluid work. Brass itself is alloyed in a Mechanical Mixer heated by a Blaze Burner.[6]
Further up the chain you'll refine Powdered Obsidian into Sturdy Sheets, polish Rose Quartz, and assemble the Precision Mechanism, the component-crafting item that gates Create's most advanced gear.[6]
Processing machines
Most of Create's ore and food processing comes from a handful of powered blocks, each with its own recipe type:[6]
- The Millstone pulverises materials on its own, while a pair of powered Crushing Wheels does the same job at far higher throughput and can be run right up to maximum speed.[6]
- The Mechanical Press makes sheets, and when placed over a Basin it performs compacting, turning more items into fewer.[6]
- The Mechanical Mixer combines ingredients in a Basin, and with a Blaze Burner underneath it handles heated recipes such as alloying.[6]
- An upright Mechanical Saw processes materials placed in front of it.[6]
- The Encased Fan pushes air through fire, water, lava or ice to perform fan processing: washing, smelting and the like.[6]
- The Deployer acts as a stand-in for you, using items and tools on whatever is in front of it.[6]
- Mechanical Crafters chained together handle multi-step crafting automatically; they can be deliberately slowed right down if you feed them very low speed.[6]
Moving items around
Funnels extract from and insert into containers, Chutes move items vertically, and belts carry them horizontally. For more flexible routing, the Mechanical Arm picks items up and delivers them to targets you program in: it can handle 10 or more output locations from a single arm, including odd jobs like feeding a Blaze Burner. The Weighted Ejector launches items (and players) across gaps, with enough range to throw you more than 30 blocks.[6]
Filters are what make all of this precise. List Filter matches a list of items, Attribute Filter matches by item properties, and Package Filter handles Create's packages. All three can be wiped back to blank on a crafting grid if you want to reuse them.[7]
Clearing a used List Filter.
Fluids
Fluid Pipes and the Mechanical Pump move liquids around; the pulling end of a pipe or pump is what collects water from a source, and pipes can even draw honey straight out of a Bee Nest or Beehive. Wrenching a pipe that contains fluid turns it into a windowed pipe so you can watch the contents. Watch out when two different fluids meet in the same network.[6]
For bulk work, the Hose Pulley lowers into a body of fluid to drain or fill it, and a large enough lava lake counts as infinite. On the item side, the Spout fills fluid-containing items from above and the Item Drain empties them as they roll across it, you can chain several drains in a row for continuous emptying.[6]
Steam and boilers
Fluid Tanks double as boilers: heat them, attach Steam Engines, and you get torque scaled to the boiler's power level. Steam Whistles mounted on a tank play notes, and a single Fluid Tank can carry up to 12 uniquely pitched whistles if you want a working pipe organ.[6]
Contraptions
Contraptions are groups of blocks that move as one. Super Glue binds loose blocks into a group, bearings (including the Clockwork Bearing) spin assembled structures, and the Rope Pulley raises and lowers them, it can extend over 200 blocks deep. Minecart Contraptions can carry at least 200 attached blocks, and with a Deployer on board they'll even place track in front of themselves as they go.[6]
Contraptions aren't just scenery: drills, saws and harvesters mounted on them keep working while they move, and a Portable Storage Interface lets you push items into or pull them out of a moving contraption from a fixed point.[6]
Trains
Train Tracks, Train Casing made from Sturdy Sheets and a bearing get you an assembled Train. Trains can be built out to 6 or more carriages, driven by a conductor following a Train Schedule, and managed on shared track with Train Signals. They can pass through portals, and Train Seats will happily carry you thousands of blocks: over 5,000 blocks from where you started, if you're patient. Display Links can forecast a train's arrival on a Display Board.[6]
Packages and requests
Create's logistics layer works with cardboard packages. A Packager boxes items up from an inventory, Chain Conveyors carry packages across your base, and a Frogport catches them at the destination. A Stock Ticker lets you employ a mob and place item requests against your network, while Factory Gauges trigger those package requests automatically when stock runs low. A Table Cloth turns a block into a small shop you can put items up for sale on.[6]
Control and readouts
Redstone Link pairs transmit redstone wirelessly, and the Linked Controller activates those links from your hand. Display Links visualise information from blocks onto displays such as Display Boards. The Clipboard keeps notes, and it also copies settings like filters from one block with a right-click and applies them elsewhere with a left-click, a huge time-saver when you're configuring a row of identical machines.[6]

For rails, the Controller Rail is a uni-directional powered rail whose speed varies with the redstone signal strength you feed it.[6]
Gear and gadgets
A Copper Backtank accumulates air pressure while it's driven, and paired with a Copper Diving Helmet it becomes a diving suit for extended underwater work. Netherite diving gear goes a step further and survives a dip in lava. Other handheld tools include the Extendo Grip for extra reach and the Potato Cannon.[6]

Cardboard isn't only for packages: you can craft a full set of cardboard armour and a cardboard sword from it, and sneaking around in the full set is its own little achievement.[6][7]
How do you progress through Create?
6 parts
Create's quest chapter in this pack branches out from a single starting quest into a few clear lines: the andesite machines, item logistics, fluids with copper, and finally brass. Almost everything traces back to one item, so the order below follows the quest tree and shows where each tier opens up.[3]
Getting started
Your first real goal is "Andesite Alloys" quest. Andesite Alloy doesn't do much on its own, but it's a crafting ingredient for almost every machine and item in the mod, so make a good stack of it. Early on you'll also see the "Wrench" quest and "Engineer's Goggles" quest quests. Grab both, because the Wrench rotates and picks up Create blocks and the Goggles show you speed and stress readings.[3]
Right after the alloy comes "Rotational Power" quest, which asks for a Shaft. Shafts carry rotation in a straight line, and every machine needs rotational power to run. The "Gearbox" quest, "Vertical Gearbox" quest and "Clutch" quest quests branch off from here to help you route and switch that power.[3]

Andesite tier: your first machines
The "Machines" quest quest asks for Andesite Casing. You don't make it in a crafting grid. Strip a log with an axe, then right-click the stripped wood with Andesite Alloy. Lots of machines use this casing, and it unlocks the next batch of quests.[3]
- The Mechanical Press turns ingots into plates. With a Basin underneath, it can also do compacting crafts.[3]
- The Mechanical Mixer always needs a Basin below it. It handles mixing and shapeless crafting, and brewing works too if you add heat from a Blaze Burner.[3]
- The Encased Fan does bulk processing. Put lava in front of it to blast items, fire to smoke them, water to wash them, or soul fire to haunt them.[3]
- The Deployer uses items on things below it. In this pack its recipe needs a Brass Hand and an Electron Tube, so it isn't made from andesite parts alone.[3][5]

Item logistics
The "Item Logistics" quest quest asks for a Mechanical Belt. You connect belts between two shafts, and they carry items to depots, machines or wherever the belt ends. This quest unlocks the "Depot" quest, "Chute" quest, "Andesite Funnel" quest, "Andesite Tunnel" quest and "Item Vaults" quest quests. It also unlocks their brass upgrades, "Brass Funnel" quest and "Brass Tunnel" quest, which add filters and extra distribution settings.[3]

Copper tier: fluids
The fluid branch runs through "Copper Casings" quest. You make Copper Casing the same way as the andesite version, by applying a Copper Ingot to a stripped log. Most fluid machines need it. From here you work through "Fluid Pipe" quest, "Mechanical Pump" quest (pipes don't move fluid without a pump), "Smart Fluid Pipe" quest, "Spout" quest, "Item Drain" quest and "Fluid Tanks" quest.[3]

Brass tier
Brass needs heat, so start with the "Blaze Burner" quest quest. Craft an empty Blaze Burner, then right-click a Blaze with it to fill it. Feed it furnace fuels like wood or coal to make it Heated, or give it Blaze Cake to make it Super-Heated.[3]
The "Brass Casing" quest quest unlocks once you've done both the Mechanical Mixer and the Blaze Burner quests. This pack gives you several ways to make brass. The Create way is mixing in a heated Basin under a Mechanical Mixer. After that, you apply brass to stripped wood like the other casings.[3]
Next, the "Precision Mechanism" quest quest comes after the Deployer. You build the Precision Mechanism by passing a Gold Plate through a chain of Deployers several times. Even then, it only has an 80% chance to come out. The other 20% of the time, all that work is lost.[3]
With Brass Casing and Precision Mechanisms done, the "Mechanical Arm" quest quest opens. The Mechanical Arm has a 4 block range and moves items between belts, depots and funnels.[3]

- In this pack, Brass Casing is also used in the recipes for the Mechanical Crafter, Sequenced Gearshift, Rotation Speed Controller and Clockwork Bearing.[5]
Cardboard and the newer items
The "Create 1.21" quest quest comes after Item Logistics and asks for Cardboard. You make it by pressing Pulp, and you make Pulp in a Mechanical Mixer and Basin. Combine Cardboard into Blocks of Cardboard for the newer Create items, or turn it into Cardboard Armor.[3]

How does Create work with other mods?
3 parts
Create doesn't live on its own island in this pack. The pack adds and changes a bunch of recipes so your Create machines plug straight into sieving, gem ores, the pack's shared metals and an enchanting add-on. Here's how they connect.[5]
Create stones from the sieve
You don't need to go hunting for Create's decorative stones. The pack adds sieve recipes that turn Gravel into Asurine, Crimsite, Ochrum and Veridium. These work with every mesh tier: Iron Mesh, Golden Mesh, Diamond Mesh and Netherite Mesh.[5]
Sieve (exdeorum)
Recipe id: allthemods:exdeorum/iron_mesh/gravel/create/asurine
Swap the mesh or the output for the other variants.
That Asurine is more than decoration. The pack changed its crushing recipe so it gives Zinc Clump and Zinc Nugget, which makes sieved gravel a handy zinc source.[5]
Crushing (create)
Recipe id: create:crushing/asurine
The pack also adds a crushing recipe that turns Crushed Netherrack into Cinder Flour.[5]
Crushing (create)
Recipe id: allthemods:create/crushing/crushed_netherrack
Ore processing into the pack's metals and gems
When you blast Create's crushed ores, the pack sends them to its shared ingots. Crushed Raw Aluminum becomes Aluminum Ingot, Crushed Raw Lead becomes Lead Ingot, Crushed Raw Silver becomes Silver Ingot and Crushed Raw Tin becomes Tin Ingot. All four recipes were changed by the pack.[5]
Silent Gems ores work with your crushing setup too. Crushing an ore such as Garnet Ore gives you the gem, a Nugget of Experience and the leftover stone. Normal ores give Cobblestone, deepslate ores give Cobbled Deepslate and End ores give End Stone.[5]
Crushing (create)
Recipe id: create:crushing/compat/silentgems/deepslate_garnet_ore
Experience and enchanting
The Experience Nuggets from gem crushing feed right into the enchanting add-on. Grind a Nugget of Experience or a Block of Experience in a Mechanical Grindstone and you get Liquid Experience. You can then compact that liquid back into Blocks of Experience. Pressing a Block of Experience makes an Enchanting Template.[5]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Create?
6 parts
Create gets its own big quest chapter in this pack, simply called Create, and it walks you from your very first Andesite Alloy all the way to brass-tier automation. On top of that, the Basic Armor chapter has quests for Create's wearable gear. Here's how it all fits together.[3][8]
The Create chapter: first steps
Everything branches off the opening "Create" quest quest. Once it's done, a handful of quests open up at the same time, so you can pick your own order.[3]
- "Andesite Alloys" quest asks for Andesite Alloy, the ingredient behind almost every machine.[3]
- "Wrench" quest asks for a Wrench, and "Engineer's Goggles" quest asks for Engineer's Goggles.[3]
- "Super-Glue" quest asks for Super Glue for building contraptions.[3]
- "Item Logistics" quest asks for a Mechanical Belt and opens up the whole item-moving branch.[3]
- a quest in "Create" asks for a Schematic Table, which then leads to a quest in "Create" for the Schematicannon.[3]
Power and machines
From Andesite Alloys you head into "Rotational Power" quest (a Shaft) and "Machines" quest (an Andesite Casing). Rotational Power unlocks "Gearbox" quest, "Vertical Gearbox" quest, "Clutch" quest, "Gearshift" quest and "Cogwheels!" quest, which accepts either a regular or a large cogwheel.[3]
Machines is the gateway to your processing setup: "Encased Fan" quest, "Mechanical Press" quest, "Deployer" quest, "Mechanical Mixer" quest, "Millstone" quest and "Crushing Wheels" quest all unlock after it. Heads up that the Crushing Wheels quest points out you'll need Mechanical Crafters to make them.[3]
Also off Andesite Alloys is "Piston Extension" quest for the Piston Extension Pole. Together with "Contraptions" quest it leads to "Mechanical Pistons" quest, where either the normal or sticky piston counts.[3]
Item logistics
After Item Logistics you can grab "Item Vaults" quest, "Depot" quest, "Chute" quest, "Andesite Funnel" quest, "Brass Funnel" quest, "Andesite Tunnel" quest and "Brass Tunnel" quest. Depot then leads to "Weighted Ejector" quest.[3]
Item Logistics also unlocks "Create 1.21" quest, which asks for Cardboard and kicks off the newer Create content. It leads to "Packagers" quest for the Packager.[3]
Fluids
A Fluid Logistics quest unlocks "Fluid Tanks" quest, "Copper Casings" quest and "Fluid Pipe" quest. Fluid Pipe leads to "Smart Fluid Pipe" quest, "Mechanical Pump" quest and "Fluid Valve" quest, while Copper Casings leads to "Spout" quest and "Item Drain" quest.[3]
Brass tier and the ATM Star path
Some Create quests are also marked as part of the ATM Star path. That path runs from Andesite Alloys through Machines, Deployer and Mechanical Mixer, and also includes "Blaze Burner" quest, which has no prerequisite listed.[3]
- "Precision Mechanism" quest unlocks after Deployer and asks for a Precision Mechanism.[3]
- "Brass Casing" quest unlocks after both Mechanical Mixer and Blaze Burner and asks for Brass Casing.[3]
- "Mechanical Arm" quest needs both Precision Mechanism and Brass Casing, and asks for a Mechanical Arm.[3]
Basic Armor chapter
The "Diving Armor" quest quest asks for a diving helmet, diving boots and a backtank. Each piece can be either copper or netherite, for example Copper Diving Helmet or Netherite Diving Helmet. The same chapter also has a "Cardboard Armor" quest quest.[8]
Unverified The quest data provided was cut off, so the Create chapter may contain more quests than listed here, and the Cardboard Armor quest's exact tasks aren't confirmed. A chapter called Chapter 2: The Cool Parts may also include Create quests, but its contents couldn't be checked.
Which Create config options matter?
4 parts
All the options below live in Create's client config, so they only affect your own game: visuals, sounds, tooltips and menus. This pack changes three of them, and all three are about where the Create config button appears in your menus. Everything else is left at Create's default.[9]
What this pack changed
- client.mainMenuConfigButtonRow is set to 0 instead of the default 2. A value of 0 disables the button, so you won't see a Create config button on the main menu.[9]
- client.ingameMenuConfigButtonRow is set to 1 instead of the default 3. This picks which row of the in-game menu the button sits on. Setting it to 0 would disable that button too.[9]
- client.ingameMenuConfigButtonOffsetX is set to -400,000,000 instead of the default -4. This is how many pixels the in-game button is shifted sideways, and the minus sign puts it on the left side of the row.[9]
Unverified An offset that large is presumably meant to push the in-game config button far off the screen, which would effectively hide it. The config only describes the offset in pixels, so this effect isn't confirmed. If you want the button back, try setting the offset to the default -4.
Tooltips and goggle info
- client.enableTooltips is on, so holding Shift shows item descriptions and holding Ctrl shows controls. Leave this on while you're learning the mod![9]
- client.enableOverstressedTooltip is on, so you get a tooltip when you look at overstressed components. That's very handy when a big build suddenly stops turning.[9]
- If the goggle overlay covers something, client.goggleOverlay.overlayOffsetX (20) and client.goggleOverlay.overlayOffsetY (0) move it. The /create overlay command lets you adjust this in-game.[9]
- client.goggleOverlay.customColorsOverlay is off. Turn it on to use your own background and border colors for the goggle and hover overlays.[9]
Performance, sound and comfort
- client.fanParticleDensity is 0.5 on a scale from 0.0 to 1.0. Lower it if a fan-heavy base is hurting your frame rate.[9]
- client.filterItemRenderDistance is 10 blocks. That's the maximum distance at which items in filter slots are displayed.[9]
- client.sound.enableAmbientSounds makes cogs rumble and machines clatter. Turn it off, or lower client.sound.ambientVolumeCap, if your factory gets too noisy.[9]
- client.rotateWhenSeated is on, so you get rotated along with a moving contraption you're sitting on. Disable it if that makes you dizzy.[9]
- client.ignoreFabulousWarning is off, so Create warns you if you play with Fabulous graphics enabled.[9]
Trains and JEI
- client.trains.mountedZoomMultiplier is 3. It controls how far the camera zooms out while you're seated on a train.[9]
- client.trains.showTrainMapOverlay is on, so your track networks and trains show up on supported map mods. client.trains.trainMapColorTheme is RED, and you can switch it to GREY or WHITE.[9]
- Debugging a rail network? Turn on client.trains.showTrackGraphOnF3 to see nodes and edges in F3 mode. client.trains.showExtendedTrackGraphOnF3 adds network materials on top of that.[9]
- client.jeiIntegration.syncJeiSearch is on, so searching in the stock keeper UI also updates the JEI search.[9]
What changed in Create between versions?
In All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4, you get Create version 6.0.10, shipped as the file create-1.21.1-6.0.10.jar. The mod list shows it was first included in All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 or earlier, so it may have been part of the pack before this release too.[2]
Unverified There are no pack changelog entries for Create and no stored changelogs for the shipped jar, so the version Create first arrived in the pack, any version bumps between pack releases, and what changed in each one can't be confirmed yet.
