What is Oritech?

1 part

Oritech is a tech mod built around animated multiblock machines, and you upgrade those machines with addon blocks. It covers ore processing, automated farming, electric tools and armor, item, fluid and energy pipes, drones that move items over long distances, lasers that mine blocks for you, and even particle accelerators. This pack ships Oritech 0.17.3.[1][2]

It's for you if you like building big, planned-out bases. The mod is designed so there are usually several ways to get the same thing. Plastic, for example, can come from farming items or from oil processing. Most resources can eventually be made renewable, but that takes large farms and processing chains. Oil wells and bedrock extractor resource nodes spawn in the world to push you into building outposts and hauling the results back to a central hub.[1]

Logistics stays simple: there's only one pipe tier for each pipe type. The mod supports JEI, REI and EMI, and it works best with EMI.[1]

Where it fits in the pack's progression

The pack gives Oritech its own quest chapter. Most early quests hang off one starting quest, so you can pick your order. The early generator quests include a quest in "?" for the Basic Generator, plus quests for the Fuel Generator, Lava Generator and Bio Generator. Processing quests cover the Pulverizer, Centrifuge, Assembler and Foundry.[3]

Machine cores form their own ladder. After the Primitive Machine Core quest, the quests run in sequence from Improved Machine Core to Advanced Machine Core, then Elite Machine Core and finally Ultra Machine Core. The addon quests (speed, efficiency, capacitor, acceptor and more) unlock after a separate prerequisite quest.[3]

The late game is a long chain. The Atomic Forge quest needs 8 Duratium Ingot (from the Foundry quest), Enderic Compound and a Flux Gate. After it come 8 Silicon Wafer, 4 Advanced Computing Engine and 2 Super AI Chip. Then you reach the Heisenberg Compensator, and the chain ends at the Manhattan Module quest, which also needs 2 Plutonium Pellet.[3]

Unverified The sources I have don't show Oritech on the ATM Star quest path, and there's no in-jar guidebook to confirm its role there. Treat it as an optional tech chapter until that's verified.

How do you get started with Oritech?

5 parts

Oritech is a tech mod built around animated multiblock machines that you upgrade with addon blocks. In this pack it has its own quest chapter, and the quests in it are chained together, so you can follow them to see which machine comes before which. Here is the route I'd take.[1][3]

Your first steps, in order

  1. Start with the Primitive Machine Core. It has its own quest, a quest in "?". The higher core tiers come later through a separate chain that begins with the Improved Machine Core (a quest in "?").[3]
  2. Get power going with the Basic Generator (a quest in "?"). Then move energy around with the Energy Pipe (a quest in "?").[3][4]
  3. Make a Pulverizer (a quest in "?") to turn ores into dust, then a Centrifuge (a quest in "?") to separate materials.[3][4]
  4. Build the Assembler (a quest in "?"). Several later quests come after it, and the next one asks for two Magnetic Coil and two Motor (a quest in "?").[3][4]
  5. Set up the Foundry and make four Adamant Ingot (a quest in "?").[3][4]

Centrifuge gems

The centrifuge turns ore clumps into gems. The iron clump recipe below is a good example. The copper, gold, nickel and platinum clumps each have a matching recipe too.[5]

Centrifuge (oritech)

Recipe id: oritech:centrifuge/clump/iron

The clump becomes an Iron Gem, with a Small Nickel Dust as a bonus output.

Tip: The pack changes some Oritech recipes that involve other mods. For example, Fluxite can be made from amethyst in an Applied Energistics 2 charger or a Powah energizer, and the centrifuge recipe for Enderic Compound from ender pearl dust is also a pack change. Check the recipe viewer before you plan a route.[5]

Where this leads

After the foundry, the chapter points you to eight Duratium Ingot (a quest in "?"). The Atomic Forge quest (a quest in "?") comes after the Duratium quest, the Enderic Compound quest (a quest in "?") and the Flux Gate quest (a quest in "?").[3]

How does Oritech work?

4 parts

Most Oritech machines are animated multiblocks, and you upgrade them with addon blocks instead of swapping to a new machine. This section covers how addons, pipes and the bigger world-interaction machines fit together, as far as the sources go.[1]

Machines and addons

Addons attach to a machine and change what it does. The pack has recipes for Speed Addon, Efficiency Addon, Capacitor Addon, Acceptor Addon, Fluid Addon, Control Unit Addon, Inventory Proxy Addon and Silk Touch Addon.[1][5]

There are also more specialised addons: Quarry Addon, Hunter Addon, Crop Filter Addon, Steam Boiler Addon and Auxiliary Processing Chamber Addon. The Power Bank Addon Extender has its own recipe built from the capacitor addon and the Machine Addon Extender.[5]

The mod's advancement for the ultimate machine core says it lets you add excessive addons. The sources here do not give slot counts.[4]

The mod has a config option for whether addon bonuses stack additively or multiplicatively.[4]

Unverified Which stacking mode the pack uses, and how much each addon changes a machine, is set in the mod's config. The sources here do not show those values.

Pipes and logistics

Oritech has item, fluid and energy pipes, and there is only 1 pipe tier for each type. Pipes are generally pretty fast, so you don't need to chase a better tier.[1]

The mod is built with performance in mind. Pipe blocks only have block entities where needed, for example where they connect to machines. All networks are cached, and network updates are only sent when needed.[1]

For long distances, the mod also has drones that transport items across vast distances.[1]

Watch out: The pack changed the recipes for the Fluid Pipe and the Pump through Ender IO compatibility recipes. Don't rely on the mod's default recipes for these two, and use the ones below.[5]

World interaction and resources

Oritech aims for renewable resources. You can build large automated farms for fuel and items, and the bedrock extractor gives you renewable metals in the late game.[1]

Resource nodes spawn naturally in the world and feed the bedrock extractors, and oil wells spawn too. They are there to push you into building auxiliary bases and moving the output to a central hub.[1]

Lasers are another way to automate mining. The laser arm block mines blocks automatically, and its advancement mentions using it to mine fluxite.[1][4]

Big multiblocks

The mod includes particle accelerators, and the Particle Accelerator Guide Ring is a guide ring for them. It also has a nuclear reactor you build yourself, and the pack has a recipe for the Reactor Coolant Absorber Port.[1][4][5]

How do you progress through Oritech?

6 parts

Oritech's progression in this pack is one quest chapter. Most of the early machine quests hang off a single shared first quest, and the later quests chain off those. The quests have no titles in the pack files, so this page follows them by what each one asks you to obtain.[3]

Stage 1: first machines and power

Right after the shared first quest you get a wide set of quests. They cover the Pulverizer, the Centrifuge, the Assembler, the Foundry, the Primitive Machine Core and the generators. The generator quests are the Basic Generator, Fuel Generator, Lava Generator and Bio Generator. Pipe quests for energy, fluid and item transport, the Pipe Booster and energy storage also sit here.[3]

The Assembler is the real gate for this stage. The pack's Motor and Magnetic Coil recipes are Assembler recipes, and a follow-up quest asks for 2 Magnetic Coil and 2 Motor once you have one. The Assembler also makes the Processing Unit, which has its own quest.[3][5]

This is the main Assembler recipe. The pack also has an alternative Assembler recipe, oritech:crafting/assembleralt.

Stage 2: gems, adamant and the laser

The Centrifuge turns ore clumps into gems. The Fragment Forge quest follows the Pulverizer quest. A gem quest then follows both the Fragment Forge quest and a Fluid Addon quest that comes after the Centrifuge. It accepts any of the iron, platinum, gold, copper, nickel or uranium gems. Platinum clumps also give Fluxite in the Centrifuge.[3][5]

The Foundry quest asks for 4 Adamant Ingot alongside the machine. You can craft Adamant Ingots, smelt them from Adamant Dust, or use the alloy recipes that the pack changed in other mods' machines.[3][5]

Adamant IngotMod recipe

Crafting Shaped

Crafting Shaped
any nickel ingotany nickel ingotEmpty slot
any diamond gemany diamond gemEmpty slot

Recipe id: oritech:crafting/alloy/adamant

Once you have both the Assembler and the Foundry, the Enderic Laser and Target Designator quest unlocks. Three more quests branch from it: the Hunter Addon, Plutonium Dust and 4 Fluxite. The pack also changes how some of these materials are made. Fluxite can come from amethyst via Powah or AE2, or from casting Molten Fluxite. Plutonium Dust comes from Uranite Crystal in Powah.[3][5]

Machine core chain

The machine cores form their own quest chain: Improved Machine Core, then Advanced Machine Core, then Elite Machine Core, then Ultra Machine Core. The Elite Core recipe needs an Advanced Computing Engine, and that item is an Atomic Forge recipe, so you need the Atomic Forge stage first. The Ultra Core recipe also needs a Duratium Ingot.[3][5]

The Enderic Compound quest follows the Centrifuge quest. The Advanced Core recipe needs that compound, and the pack changed one of the Centrifuge recipes that makes it.[3][5]

2× Enderic CompoundChanged by the pack

Recipe id: oritech:centrifuge/compat/enderio/endericcompound

The pack changed this Centrifuge recipe for Enderic Compound. A separate Centrifuge recipe, oritech:centrifuge/endericsculk, makes it from sculk.

Stage 3: Duratium and the Atomic Forge

The Duratium quest asks for 8 Duratium Ingot and follows the Foundry quest. The Flux Gate quest needs the Fluxite and Processing Unit quests done first. The Atomic Forge quest then follows Duratium, Enderic Compound and the Flux Gate together.[3]

The Atomic Forge's own recipe needs a Duratium Ingot, and the Atomic Forge is also the machine with a Duratium recipe. So your first Duratium has to come from somewhere else. The pack provides alloying recipes in other mods' machines, plus casting from Molten Duratium.[5]

Stage 4: endgame chain

After the Atomic Forge the quests run in a straight line. First comes 8 Silicon Wafer, then 4 Advanced Computing Engine, then 2 Super AI Chip. Next is the Heisenberg Compensator, which has two recipes: one goes through the Super AI Chip and the other through Unholy Intelligence. The last quest asks for the Manhattan Module, and it also needs the 2 Plutonium Pellet quest finished.[3][5]

Tip: The Plutonium Pellet has three Assembler recipes, each using a different metal: a nickel ingot, an Adamant Ingot or a Duratium Ingot. The pellet quest comes right after the Assembler quest, so you do not have to reach Duratium before you start on pellets.[3][5]

Machine addons

The addon quests (speed, efficiency, capacitor, acceptor, extender, fluid and processing) all branch from one shared quest in the chapter. The Auxiliary Processing Chamber Addon has two recipes in the pack, and both of them need one of the late-game items from this page, so save it for after the Atomic Forge stage.[3][5]

How does Oritech work with other mods?

5 parts

Oritech is wired into a lot of the pack's other mods. The pack changed many of Oritech's recipes so that metals from All the Ores flow in and out of Oritech machines, and several other tech mods can process Oritech materials. The late-game crafting recipes at the end of this section are added by the pack. Everything else listed here is marked as changed by the pack, so this is how it works in this pack, not just how the mod behaves on its own.[5]

The mod itself ships compatibility for Applied Energistics 2, Create, Ender IO, Immersive Engineering, Industrial Foregoing, Mekanism, PneumaticCraft: Repressurized, Powah! and Productive Metalworks on NeoForge. The recipes below show which of those connections actually show up in the pack.[1]

All the Ores metals

Oritech's ore machines output All the Ores items, so you don't end up with duplicate metals. The Pulverizer turns raw copper, gold, iron and nickel into the matching All the Ores dust, plus a small Oritech dust on the side. The grinder follows the same idea with clumps, for example giving Iron Clump together with Small Iron Clump and Small Nickel Clump.[3][5]

Oritech's small dusts and small clumps tie back into the full All the Ores dusts and clumps, smelting or blasting small dusts gives nuggets such as Copper Nugget and Nickel Nugget, and the Oritech gems end up as Nickel Ingot and Platinum Ingot. Here is the nickel route.[5]

Nickel IngotChanged by the pack

Smelting

The pack changed this recipe so the nickel gem gives an All the Ores ingot.

The deep drill turns the Nickel Resource Node, Platinum Resource Node and Uranium Resource Node into Raw Nickel, Raw Platinum and Raw Uranium. Uranium processed in the grinder or centrifuge gives Uranium Dust and Small Plutonium Dust.[5]

The Atomic Forge also converts gems into All the Ores dusts, with Fluxite as the second input. That covers copper, gold, iron, nickel and platinum.[3][5]

Productive Metalworks

Productive Metalworks has the deepest tie-in. It can melt Oritech gems, small clumps and small dusts into its molten metals, such as Molten Nickel and Molten Platinum.[5]

It can also alloy Oritech's own metals as fluids: Molten Adamant, Molten Biosteel, Molten Duratium and Molten Energite. You then cast those into Biosteel Ingot, Duratium Ingot and Energite Ingot using an ingot cast. Fluxite is cast with a gem cast, and Biomass is cast from Oritech's biofuel.[5]
