What is Oritech?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide

Oritech is a technology mod built around animated multiblock machines. It covers processing machines, world-interaction machines, logistics parts, equipment and more. Machine upgrades come from addon blocks you attach to the machine. This pack ships Oritech 1.2.12.[1][2]

It suits you if you like building big processing chains and automated farms. The mod aims to give you several ways to get most things, so you rarely hit a roadblock that needs one rare item. It also pushes renewable fuel and items, with oil wells and resource nodes encouraging you to build outposts and ship goods to a central hub.[1]

Where it fits in the pack

Oritech has its own quest chapter, and most of it branches off the Oritech Beginnings quest. Start with "Machine Cores" quest: machine cores are the basis of every Oritech machine, and you right-click a machine with a core to build it. The chapter then covers generators, energy storage, and item, fluid and energy pipes. It also covers drone ports, the pulverizer and the centrifuge.[3]

The ATM Star path

Part of the Oritech chapter sits on the ATM Star path. Here is the route the quests lay out:[3]

Tip: The Assembler quest, Putting things together, is a gateway. Many other Oritech quests and both Chapter 4 Oritech quests come after it, so build it early.[3][4]

How do you get started with Oritech?

3 parts

Oritech is the pack's tech mod, with animated machines, several ore processing chains and pipes for items, fluids and energy. The pack's Oritech quest chapter covers all the machines below, so here is a sensible order to work through them.[1][5]

Your first machines, in order

  1. Make a Primitive Machine Core. All machines use machine cores: you right-click a machine with a core to build it. Cores don't change a machine's speed or efficiency directly, only how many modifiers it can take.[5]
  2. Build a Basic Generator for power. It runs on furnace fuel. The same chapter also covers the Bio Generator (biomass), the Lava Generator and the Fuel Generator (liquid fuel) for later.[5]
  3. Get a Pulverizer to grind ores, then a Centrifuge. The quest calls the centrifuge an important machine for your future endeavours.[5]
  4. Build an Assembler. It's more than a crafter: it lets you make newer items and also improves yield for some other items.[5]
  5. Craft a Magnetic Coil and a Motor. The quest describes them as the components used to make most machines, and it comes after the Assembler quest. Both are Assembler recipes in this pack.[5][6]

The Motor is also made in the Assembler, and uses the Magnetic Coil.

Storing and moving power

Once a generator is running, store the power with a Portable Energy Storage or a Large Energy Storage. To move it around, the energy pipe quest lists the Energy Pipe, the Framed Energy Pipe and the Energy Pipe Duct.[5]

Turning ores into gems

The pack's Ore Processing quest says you need a Centrifuge with a Fluid Addon, plus either a Pulverizer or a Fragment Forge. The Fragment Forge is the upgrade: it improves yield on all pulverisation recipes.[5]

With the fluid addon fitted, the Centrifuge accepts Sulfuric Acid and turns clumps into gems. Water also works, but gives a lower yield. Here is the iron version with acid.[5][6]

3× Iron GemMod recipe

Centrifuge Fluid (oritech)

Recipe id: oritech:centrifuge/fluid/clumpacid/iron

Sulfuric acid in the Centrifuge turns an iron clump into an Iron Gem, with Mineral Slurry as a second output.

Watch out: The quest notes that some recipes are currently broken and output dusts or nuggets instead of gems. If a result looks odd, that is the known reason.[5]

The pack has also changed several Centrifuge recipes. For example, a copper clump processed without a fluid gives a Copper Gem plus a tiny dust from another mod, so check each recipe in-game before you automate it.[6]

How does Oritech work?

6 parts

Oritech is built around machines that are mostly animated multiblocks, and you upgrade them by attaching addon blocks. Everything else in this section (pipes, painting, reactors, augments) hangs off that idea. The sources here don't cover every machine's exact stats, so I'll stick to what is confirmed.[1]

Machines and how you get things

The machine list runs from processing machines to world-interaction machines such as lasers that mine blocks automatically, plus automated farming machines and drones that move items over long distances. The design goal is that most things have more than one route. Plastic, for example, can come from farming items or from oil processing, so you shouldn't get stuck waiting on one rare item.[1]

Renewability is the other big goal. Fuel and items are meant to come from large automated farms. In the late game the bedrock extractor can give you renewable metals. Resource nodes and oil wells spawn naturally in the world, which pushes you to build outposts and ship the goods back to a central base.[1]

Addons

Addons are the upgrade system for machines. The pack has crafting recipes for these addons:[1][6]

There is also a Machine Addon Extender item. The advancement for obtaining an ultimate machine core describes it as letting you add excessive addons.[6][7]

Unverified Oritech has a config option that decides whether addon bonuses are added additively or multiplicatively. That is set in the Oritech config file, and the sources here do not show how this pack has it set.

Watch out: The pack changes the Burst Addon recipe, so don't rely on recipes from other Oritech guides. This is the version you craft here.[6]

Pipes: items, fluids and energy

Oritech has item, fluid and energy pipes, and each type has only one tier. They are described as generally pretty fast, so you don't need to chase upgrades. Pipe blocks only get block entities where needed, for example where they connect to machines. Networks are cached and updates are only sent when something changes, which keeps big pipe setups light on performance.[1]

The item pipe is the Opaque Item Pipe, and fluids move through the Fluid Pipe. The pack changes the recipes for the Fluid Pipe and the Pump, so use the versions shown below.[6]

For power, the pack has recipes for the Energy Transmission Pole and the Portable Energy Storage. The sources here don't give transfer rates or ranges for either, so check them in game.[6]

Colorable machines

Machines can be colored with paint items. The pack has recipes for the Camo Machine Paint, Adamant Machine Paint, Fluxite Machine Paint, Industrial Machine Paint, Netherite Machine Paint, Orange Machine Paint, Redstone Machine Paint, Sculk Machine Paint and White Machine Paint. The Netherite and Redstone paint recipes are changed by the pack.[1][6]

Reactors and particle accelerators

Oritech includes a nuclear reactor and particle accelerators. The Reactor Wall and the Reactor Coolant Absorber Port are reactor parts, and the accelerator uses the Particle Accelerator Guide Ring as a guide ring. The recipes for the port and the ring are shown below. The recipe viewer also shows a minimum collision energy, measured in joules, for accelerator collisions.[1][6][7]

Player augments

Oritech also has cybernetic augmentation for the player. Many augments can be toggled from the augment interface. A few examples:[1][7]

  • Speed boost: increases movement speed by 25%.[7]
  • Gravity: reduces the gravity effect by 50%.[7]
  • Block reach: extends block reach by 30%.[7]
  • Armor: +4 armor points, with higher tiers adding 6 and 8.[7]
  • Magnet: pulls nearby items towards you, and can be toggled.[7]
  • Flight: grants creative-style free flight.[7]

How do you progress through Oritech?

5 parts

Oritech's progression in this pack follows the Oritech quest chapter, and many of its quests hang off a starter quest called Oritech Beginnings. A simple way to think about it is five stages: cores and power, ore processing, alloys and the assembler, the laser and Atomic Forge, and a long endgame chain. One caveat from the chapter: the quest text about turning clumps into gems says that currently some recipes are broken and output dusts or nuggets.[5]

Stage 1: Cores and power

Start with the "Machine Cores" quest quest. The Primitive Machine Core is the basis of every machine: you right-click a machine with a core to build it. Cores don't change speed or efficiency directly. They only change the number of modifiers a machine can hold.[5]

The core quests then run in a chain: Improved Machine Core, then Advanced Machine Core, then Elite Machine Core, then Ultra Machine Core.[5]

For power, the quests offer four generators. The Basic Generator runs on furnace fuel, the Fuel Generator on liquid fuel, the Lava Generator on lava, and the Bio Generator on biomass. "Storing Energy" quest covers storage, and "Transferring Energy" quest asks you to move 10k RF/t with the energy pipes.[5]

Item, fluid and energy transport each get their own quest, and the Pipe Booster speeds up extraction on Oritech pipes when you give it power.[5]

Stage 2: Ore processing

The Pulverizer and Centrifuge come early, and the quest calls the centrifuge important for your future endeavours. The Fragment Forge is the upgraded pulverizer and improves yield on all pulverisation recipes.[5]

The "Ore Processing" quest quest says you need a Centrifuge with a Fluid Addon plus a Pulverizer or Fragment Forge. With the fluid addon you can feed clumps in with Sulfuric Acid to get gems. Water also works, but at a lower yield. The quest text adds that currently some recipes are broken and output dusts or nuggets.[5]

The pack changed the centrifuge recipes for copper, gold, iron and nickel clumps. Each now gives a tiny dust from another mod alongside the gem. The platinum clump recipe is the mod's own and gives Fluxite alongside the gem.[6]

Stage 3: Alloys, assembler and addons

a quest in "Oritech" introduces the Foundry and the Adamant Ingot. You can craft Adamant by hand, and the pack also changed the Adamant and Duratium alloying recipes in several other mods.[5][6]

Next comes the Assembler in "Putting things together" quest. It crafts newer items and improves yield on some other items.[5]

"Basic Building Components" quest then has you make the Magnetic Coil and Motor, which most machines use.[5]

The machine addons (speed, efficiency, capacitor, acceptor, fluid, processing and the extender) each have their own quest in the Oritech chapter. The Machine Addon Extender gives you more room for addons when placed on an addon slot.[5]

Stage 4: Laser, fluxite and the Atomic Forge

The Enderic Laser and Target Designator unlock after the assembler and foundry quests. Enderic lasers can transfer energy, transform materials, break blocks and speed up amethyst growth. The Hunter Addon lets the laser target mobs.[5]

Fluxite comes from charging amethyst with the laser. The pack also adds or changes recipes that make it from amethyst in other mods: a charger recipe, an energizing recipe and a reaction recipe.[5][6]

Enderic Compound has several sources. In the centrifuge, the pack changed the Ender pearl dust recipe, and a sculk recipe is also listed. You also need the Flux Gate, made in the assembler.[5][6]

Endgame chain

  1. Make the Silicon Wafer (a quest in "Oritech"). It can be crafted in the Atomic Forge, and a centrifuge recipe with Silicon Wash also makes it.[5][6]
  2. Make the Advanced Computing Engine in the Atomic Forge, then the Super AI Chip.[5][6]
  3. Craft the Heisenberg Compensator in the Atomic Forge. A second recipe uses Unholy Intelligence.[5][6]
  4. Make the Plutonium Pellet. The pack changed all three of its assembler recipes.[5][6]
  5. Finish with the Manhattan Module (a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star"), which unlocks after the pellet and the compensator.[8]

How does Oritech work with other mods?

5 parts

Oritech has built-in compatibility with a long list of mods, and this pack changes many of its recipes so metals and parts move between Oritech and the rest of your base. Everything below comes from in-pack recipes, so it is what you will actually see in your recipe viewer.[1][6]

Ore processing and All the Ores

Oritech's grinding recipes turn raw copper, gold, iron, nickel and platinum into All the Ores clumps, plus Oritech's own small clumps. A small clump can be crafted into the matching full clump. Grinding platinum also gives you Fluxite.[6]

The refinery offers a second route. Feed it Sheol Fire and raw materials, and it outputs clumps or dusts, with lava as the other output. The same pattern covers lead, tin, osmium, zinc, aluminum and silver, with recipes tied to Mekanism, Immersive Engineering and Create.[6]

The deep drill uses Nickel Resource Node, Platinum Resource Node and Uranium Resource Node to produce Raw Nickel, Raw Platinum and Raw Uranium.[6]

Centrifuging clumps gives you Oritech gems such as Nickel Gem and Platinum Gem. Those clump recipes also output Modern Industrialization tiny dusts. The atomic forge turns gems and fluxite into All the Ores dusts. Nickel and platinum gems become ingots in a furnace, a blast furnace or the foundry. Immersive Engineering's alloy smelter and arc furnace and Create's mixing do the same job.[6]

Mekanism, Immersive Engineering and Create

The centrifuge can process clumps with Sulfuric Acid. This gives lead, osmium or tin dust, or zinc nuggets, plus Mineral Slurry. The recipe ids tie these to Mekanism and Create. Osmium raw materials can also be ground into osmium clumps.[6]

Mekanism's metallurgic infusing makes Adamant Dust from a nickel ingot and Biosteel Dust from an iron ingot, using Mekanism's diamond and bio infusion types. On the Immersive Engineering side, the centrifuge makes Carbon Fibre Strands from HOP graphite dust.[6]

Productive Metalworks

If you run a Productive Metalworks setup, Oritech gems and small clumps can be melted into molten copper, gold, iron, nickel and platinum. Oritech's alloys then have fluid alloying recipes: Molten Adamant, Molten Biosteel, Molten Duratium and Molten Energite. Casting with an Ingot Cast gives you the matching ingots. A Gem Cast gives you Fluxite from molten fluxite and Biomass from biofuel.[6]

Fuel, plastic, pipes, power and silicon

  • Turbofuel (Turbofuel) can be made in the centrifuge with Industrial Foregoing's Biofuel or with PneumaticCraft's Crude Oil, in both cases together with fluxite.[6]
  • The cooler turns PneumaticCraft's Molten Plastic into Plastic Sheet. This fits Oritech's design of offering several routes to the same item, such as plastic from farming or from oil.[1][6]
  • Ender IO's Conduit Binder shows up in the pack's changed recipes for the Fluid Pipe and the Pump, shown below.[6]
  • Uranite Crystal is added by the pack to the Ender Crafter, using GeOre shards. Powah's energizing, Oritech's laser and the particle collision recipe can all turn uranium materials into Plutonium Dust.[6]
  • Oritech gives you a way to make AE2's Silicon. Either wash sand in the refinery with Silicon Wash, or smelt Raw Silicon.[6]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Oritech?

6 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide

Oritech has its own big quest chapter, and in the quest book most of its quests come after a starting quest called Oritech Beginnings. From there it branches into power, logistics, ore processing, machine upgrades and a long late-game chain. A few Oritech items also show up in other chapters, and I cover those at the end.[3]

First steps: cores, crafting and power

  1. "Machine Cores" quest asks for the Primitive Machine Core. The quest text says you right-click machines with machine cores to build them, and that cores only affect the number of modifiers, not speed or efficiency directly.[3]
  2. "Putting things together" quest asks for the Assembler. The quest text says it does more than crafting, because it also improves yield for some other items.[3]
  3. "Basic Building Components" quest asks for the Magnetic Coil and the Motor. In the quest book it comes after Oritech Beginnings and the Assembler quest.[3]
  4. The generator quests all come after Oritech Beginnings. They ask for the Basic Generator (a quest in "Oritech"), the Bio Generator (a quest in "Oritech"), the Lava Generator (a quest in "Oritech") and the Fuel Generator (a quest in "Oritech").[3]
  5. "Storing Energy" quest asks for the Portable Energy Storage and the Large Energy Storage. "Transferring Energy" quest asks for the Energy Pipe, Framed Energy Pipe and Energy Pipe Duct, and its subtitle is about smoothly transferring 10k rf/t.[3]

Moving items and fluids

"Transporting items" quest asks for item pipes and the Item Filter. "Transporting liquids" quest asks for fluid pipes and the Portable Tank. a quest in "Oritech" asks for the Pipe Booster, and its quest text says to use power with it to boost extraction speed of Oritech pipes.[3]

a quest in "Oritech" asks for the Drone Port. Its quest text says drone ports require a minimum of 50 blocks distance to work. You place two of them and sneak right-click a Target Designator on one to store its location, then put the designator in the second port's UI.[3]

Ore processing

In the quest book you start with the Pulverizer (a quest in "Oritech"), then move to the Fragment Forge (a quest in "Oritech"), which the quest text says improves yield on all pulverisation recipes. The Centrifuge (a quest in "Oritech") is described as an important machine for your future endeavours. Its Fluid Addon has its own quest, a quest in "Oritech".[3]

"Ore Processing" quest asks for processed gems, such as the Iron Gem or Gold Gem. Its quest text says ore processing uses a Centrifuge with a Fluid Addon plus a Pulveriser or Fragment Forge. "Spinning into gems" quest says clumps processed with sulphuric acid give gems, while water gives a lower yield. Its note adds that currently some recipes are broken and output dusts or nuggets, so that applies to the quest text of this version. a quest in "Oritech" asks for Carbon Fibre Strands and comes after the Pulverizer and Centrifuge quests.[3]

Machine cores and addons

The core upgrades form a chain in the quest book. a quest in "Oritech" asks for the Improved Machine Core. After it come a quest in "Oritech" (Advanced Machine Core), a quest in "Oritech" (Elite Machine Core) and a quest in "Oritech" (Ultra Machine Core).[3]

The addon quests all share one prerequisite quest, which is not named in the chapter data. They ask for the Capacitor Addon (a quest in "Oritech"), Auxiliary Processing Chamber Addon (a quest in "Oritech"), Acceptor Addon (a quest in "Oritech"), Efficiency Addon (a quest in "Oritech"), Machine Addon Extender (a quest in "Oritech"), Speed Addon (a quest in "Oritech") and the Fluid Addon again (a quest in "Oritech"). The Hunter Addon quest, "Hurting Mobs" quest, comes after the laser quest below.[3]

Lasers, the Atomic Forge and the late game

  1. a quest in "Oritech" asks for the Foundry and an Adamant Ingot. It leads to a quest in "Oritech" for the Duratium Ingot.[3]
  2. a quest in "Oritech" asks for the Enderic Laser and the Target Designator, after the Assembler and Foundry quests. a quest in "Oritech" then asks you to charge amethyst with the laser to get Fluxite.[3]
  3. a quest in "Oritech" asks for the Processing Unit. Together with the fluxite quest it leads to a quest in "Oritech" for the Flux Gate. a quest in "Oritech" asks for Enderic Compound and follows the Centrifuge quest.[3]
  4. a quest in "Oritech" asks for the Atomic Forge. It needs the Duratium, Enderic Compound and Flux Gate quests first, and the quest says it can only be powered by Enderic Lasers.[3]
  5. After the Atomic Forge the chain runs a quest in "Oritech" (Silicon Wafer), a quest in "Oritech" (Advanced Computing Engine), a quest in "Oritech" (Super AI Chip) and a quest in "Oritech" (Heisenberg Compensator).[3]
  6. a quest in "Oritech" asks for the Manhattan Module. It needs the Heisenberg Compensator quest and a quest in "Oritech", which asks for the Plutonium Pellet.[3]

Other quests in the same chapter: a quest in "Oritech" asks for the Nuclear Reactor Controller, and a quest in "Oritech" asks for the Refinery and the Refinery Chamber Module, after a quest called Refining Ores.[3]
