What is GeOre?

3 parts

This pack ships GeOre 6.1.0, and it has been in the pack since 1.0 or earlier. The quest book doesn't give it a chapter of its own. It shows up in two places, both about resources and growth accelerators.[1][2][3]

What the quest book says it is for

The Mystical Agriculture chapter explains the role. Most Mystical Agriculture resource seeds were removed in this pack, and the book says there are alternatives with GeOres that might fill that void. The "Warning" quest quest is more specific: the seeds were removed to make way for Flux Sieves (Ex Deorum) and the GeOres mod with Growth Accelerator tiers.[3]

The intro quest "Mystical Agriculture!" quest has no prerequisite listed, and the Warning quest asks you to hold Prosperity Shard. It also has no prerequisite listed in the sources. Many other quests in that chapter sit after the intro quest, but none of the quests shown mention GeOre by name beyond these two.[3]

Chapter 2: The Cool Parts

GeOre is also named in "WORK IN PROGRESS" quest, a quest marked WORK IN PROGRESS and written as a note for testers. It says that section will contain mods such as Geore, 8x magmatic and Growth Accelerator tiers. It only asks for an oak log and has no prerequisite listed, so treat it as a placeholder for now. The rest of that chapter, as shown, is about Generators Galore generators.[2]

ATM Star

The quests shown don't tie GeOre to the ATM Star. The one ATM Star mention in Chapter 2 says a 64x Magmatic Generator is needed to craft it, and that item comes from Generators Galore, not GeOre.[2]

Unverified How GeOre's ores and growth accelerators work in detail is not confirmed by the sources available for this guide.

How do you get started with GeOre?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 1.0.2 guide

GeOre gives you shards, blocks, spyglasses and tinted glass for a long list of ore types. The sources for this pack only confirm the crafting side, so this section is short and sticks to that.[4]

Start with the shards

Everything starts with the shard of an ore type, for example Copper GeOre Shard or Iron GeOre Shard. Every GeOre recipe I can see in this pack takes a shard as its main input.[4]

The mod has a generation toggle for each ore type. By default it is on for coal, copper, diamond, emerald, gold, iron, lapis, quartz and redstone, and for budding ancient debris. By default it is off for types like aluminum, lead, tin, nickel, osmium, silver, ruby and sapphire. Those are the mod's defaults, not confirmed values for this pack.[5]

Craft a spyglass

Each ore type has its own spyglass, such as Copper GeOre Spyglass. The pack changed these recipes from the mod's own, so don't rely on the mod's default recipe. Here is the in-pack version:[4]

The spyglass recipes for the other ore types are listed as changed by the pack in the same way.

The mod also has an option for the intensity of the spyglass color overlay. Its default is 0.5, which means 50%.[5]

Make tinted glass

Tinted glass is the next easy craft. This recipe is the mod's own, and the pack hasn't changed it.[4]

Iron is just the example here, and the other ore types follow the same pattern.

Compress shards into blocks

Shards also craft into a block of GeOre, again using the mod's own recipe.[4]

Recipe id: geore:iron_block

Other ore types use the same kind of shard-to-block recipe.

Tip: The examples above are the iron and copper versions. The listed recipes for the other ore types follow the same pattern, so you can swap in whichever shard you find.[4]

How does GeOre work?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 1.0.2 guide

Budding GeOre and pistons

The mod has a budding Ancient Debris variant, and a generation option for it that the mod ships enabled by default. There is also an option to stop pistons from breaking budding GeOre. Vanilla behavior breaks the block when a piston pushes it, and this option overrides that. The mod ships with it off, so out of the box a piston push still breaks the block.[5]

Unverified No GeOre config files were found in the pack, so the sources here do not show the pack's actual values for the piston option or the generation toggles. Every default mentioned in this section is what the mod itself ships with, not necessarily what this pack uses.

Which GeOres generate

The mod has a separate generation toggle for each GeOre type. By default it turns on coal, copper, diamond, emerald, gold, iron, lapis, quartz (including a Nether quartz toggle) and redstone.[5]

Many modded types are off by default in the mod: aluminum, black quartz, lead, monazite, nickel, osmium, platinum, ruby, sapphire, silver, tin, topaz, tungsten, uraninite, uranium and zinc. Seeing an item like Aluminum GeOre Shard or Lead GeOre Shard in the pack does not confirm that world generation for that type is on.[4][5]

What you can make from shards

Each GeOre type gives a shard item, and every type in the recipe dump can be crafted into a compact block form, a tinted glass and a spyglass. Iron is shown below as an example, and the other types follow the same pattern.[4]

Crafting Shaped

4 × Iron GeOre Shard

The block recipe is the mod's own, unchanged by the pack.

Spyglasses

The spyglass recipes are changed by the pack, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's own version. The recipe below shows exactly what this pack uses for Iron GeOre Spyglass. Every spyglass recipe in the recipe dump is marked as changed by the pack.[4]

The mod has a setting for the intensity of the color overlay you see through a GeOre spyglass. The mod's default is 0.5, which is 50%.[5]

How do you progress through GeOre?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 1.0.2 guide

GeOre doesn't have a single linear tier ladder in this pack, and no quests cover it. What the pack's recipes do show is how each budding geore is made and what you can craft from the shards they grow. So progression here mostly means unlocking more budding geores as you reach more metals and gems.[4]

Step 1: Cast your budding geores

In this pack, budding geores are made with Productive Metalworks block casting recipes that the pack added. Each one uses a molten material matching the geore. The recipes shown cover Budding Copper GeOre, Budding Gold GeOre, Budding Nickel GeOre, Budding Osmium GeOre, Budding Ancient Debris GeOre, Budding Lapis GeOre, Budding Quartz GeOre, Budding Coal GeOre, Budding Topaz GeOre, Budding Ruby GeOre, Budding Diamond GeOre and Budding Uranium GeOre. So your casting tier is basically decided by which molten fluids you can produce.[4]

Budding Diamond Geore follows the same casting pattern.

Black quartz is a small variation. Budding Black Quartz GeOre is cast with red sand instead of regular sand, while molten quartz is still the fluid. The recipe list in the sources is cut off, so I can't confirm the casting recipe for every other budding geore.[4]

Step 2: The uraninite upgrade

Budding Uraninite GeOre is the one budding geore in these recipes that sits a step above another. It isn't cast. The pack adds an Extended Crafting Ender Crafter recipe that builds it on top of Budding Uranium GeOre, so you need uranium casting working before you can reach it.[4]

Step 3: Turn shards into useful items

Every geore type has the same three shard recipes. You can compress shards into a geore block, make a tinted glass, or craft a spyglass. Copper is a handy example.[4]

4 × Copper GeOre Shard

Tip: The pack changed every geore spyglass recipe, not just the copper one. The geore block and tinted glass recipes are the mod's own.[4]

How does GeOre work with other mods?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 1.0.2 guide

The pack ties GeOre into other mods through recipes. Shards smelt into ingots from other mods, shards and blocks melt into fluids, budding blocks can be cast, and a few Ender Crafter recipes use GeOre items.[4]

Smelting shards into other mods' items

The pack changed the smelting and blasting recipes for GeOre shards so they give items from other mods. Both the furnace and the blast furnace have a recipe for each shard.[4]

Tin IngotChanged by the pack

Furnace (geore)

Recipe id: geore:tin_from_smelting_tin_shard

One example: the pack's furnace recipe for tin. The blasting recipe has the same input and output.

Melting in Productive Metalworks

Productive Metalworks can melt GeOre shards and GeOre blocks into molten fluids, and the pack changed these melting recipes. Most of them give the matching Productive Metalworks fluid, such as Molten Iron or Molten Diamond. Coal GeOre melts into Molten Carbon.[4]

Ruby, sapphire and topaz are the exceptions. They melt into Molten Ruby, Molten Sapphire and Molten Topaz, which are not Productive Metalworks fluids.[4]

Item Melting (productivemetalworks)

Recipe id: productivemetalworks:melting/geore/ruby_shard

Ruby GeOre shards melt into molten ruby, one of the exceptions above.

Casting budding blocks

The pack adds block casting recipes in Productive Metalworks that make budding GeOre blocks. Each recipe accepts any fluid in the matching molten tag. The result is the budding block for that material, for example Budding Osmium GeOre or Budding Quartz GeOre.[4]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use GeOre?

3 parts

GeOre doesn't have a quest line of its own in the pack. The quest book only mentions it in passing, in three places, and none of those quests asks you to hand in a GeOre item. They point you toward it instead.[2][3][6]

Chapter 1: Starting out

The first mention comes at the end of Chapter 1, in "The Next Chapter" quest. It comes right after "Starting Power" quest, and its task is to hand in Redstone. Its text says Chapter 2 is not out yet, but you can already start with the mods it will include. It lists Generators Galore (tiers and changes), Growth Accelerator tiers (it recommends directional, "super fast") and Geores, with the line "Grow those materials you are missing!".[6]

Chapter 2: The Cool Parts

"WORK IN PROGRESS" quest is a placeholder. It is marked "for testers" and says the section will contain mods such as Geore, 8x magmatic and Growth Accelerator tiers. Its only task is an Oak Log, so don't read anything into that. The rest of the chapter is about generators, starting with "Generators, With a Twist!" quest.[2]

Mystical Agriculture

The Mystical Agriculture chapter explains why GeOre matters. "Mystical Agriculture!" quest says a lot of the seeds have been deleted in this pack, and that there are alternatives with Geores that might fill the gap.[3]

"Warning" quest spells it out. Most Resource Seeds were removed to make room for Flux Sieves (Ex Deorum) and the GeOres mod with Growth Accelerator tiers. Its task is a Prosperity Shard.[3]

Tip: Quest text for 33 of the 71 quests in the Applied Energistics 2 chapter isn't available to me, so check that chapter in the quest book yourself. The mod is not on the ATM Star quest path.[7]
