What is XyCraft World?

XyCraft World is part of this pack's mod list. The pack ships version 0.7.53 (xycraft_world-0.7.53.jar), and the mod has been in the pack since 1.0.1 or earlier.[1]

Unverified The sources I have don't describe what XyCraft World adds or how its features work, so this guide makes no claims about its blocks, items or mechanics. The sources also don't place the mod in the pack's quest book.

How do you get started with XyCraft World?

1 part

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

XyCraft World adds a lot of decorative and utility blocks to this pack. The order below is my suggestion, based on how the in-pack recipes feed into each other. The recipe blocks show the exact ingredients.[2]

Suggested first crafts

  1. Make a few Copper Torch or Aluminum Torch. Each torch has a second recipe that accepts the raw material instead of the ingot, so you can light things up before you smelt anything.[2]
  2. Craft a Reinforced Glass Viewer. It is the base for the Immortal Glass Viewer, so it is worth having early if you want that upgrade later.[2][3]
  3. Make Aluminum Bricks. They are the starting point for Aluminum Tiles, and for the colored brick variants such as Blue Aluminum Bricks once you have Xychorium gems.[2]
  4. When your aluminum stockpile grows, pack raw aluminum into a Block of Raw Aluminum to keep your inventory tidy.[2]

Tip: The colored Xychorium items, like Blue Xychorium Gem and its matching Blue Xychorium Gem Storage, come in blue, dark, green, light and red. The colored brick recipes use those gems, so pick your colors before you craft a lot of bricks.[2]

How does XyCraft World work?

4 parts

The sources for this section cover how XyCraft World's geysers and ores generate, how the pack lets you get Kivi and Blue Xychorium gems, and one packing recipe. They do not describe machines, multiblocks, power or fluid handling for the mod's own blocks, so this section sticks to what is confirmed.[4][5]

Geysers

Ore Geysers come from a structure set called harvestable_node_set. It uses random spread placement with a triangular spread type, and each placement picks either a surface geyser or an underground geyser. The surface one has a weight of 3 and the underground one a weight of 1, so surface geysers are the more common pick.[4]

The pack leaves both geyser types switched on in harvestable_node_set.surface_geyser and harvestable_node_set.underground_geyser.[6]

Spacing is 15 and separation is 7, set in harvestable_node_set.spacing and harvestable_node_set.separation. The salt in harvestable_node_set.salt is 918273645. These match the numbers in the mod's own structure set data, so the pack has not changed them.[4][7]

  • Surface geysers only generate in Overworld biomes that are dry, mountain, plains, hill, jungle, forest, taiga, savanna or badlands, plus any biome tagged as a valid geyser spawn.[8]
  • Underground geysers can generate in any Overworld biome. Both types are placed in the local modifications generation step.[8][9]

Ore generation

All five Xychorium colours (blue, dark, green, light and red) are added to Overworld biomes in the underground ores step. Each colour has a stone, a deepslate and a Kivi variant, and a vein uses the variant that matches the rock it replaces.[10][11][12][13][14]

Xychorium veins are size 8 for every colour.[15][16][17][18][19]

Placement is the same for every colour as well: a count of 2, and a trapezoid height distribution between 40 and 120 above the world bottom.[20][21][22][23][24]

Aluminum ore has larger veins, size 28, with a rarity filter of 2 and a uniform height between 30 and 120 above the world bottom. It is added to Overworld biomes in the underground ores step and also has stone, deepslate and Kivi variants.[25][26][27]

Kivi itself generates as a size 64 vein with a rarity filter of 2, at heights between 0 and 60. It replaces the Overworld base stone and is added in the raw generation step.[28][29][30]

Getting Kivi in a skyblock

The pack adds a dripper recipe that makes Kivi without any worldgen. You use lava on a Void Crystal Catalyst with the dripper, which takes 1,000 of the fluid per attempt and has a 0.05 chance of working.[31]

The pack also has a dripper recipe that turns Kivi into a Replication deepslate replica ore. It uses a polymorphic fluid source, 250 of the fluid per attempt, with a 0.12 chance.[31]

Processing Blue Xychorium ore

The pack adds Blue Xychorium ore to Blue Xychorium Gem recipes for many machines, so you can use whichever tech you already have. The gem yield depends on the machine:[5]

  • The Create crusher gives 3 gems per ore.[5]
  • The Immersive Engineering crusher, the Mekanism crusher and the Occultism crusher each give 2 gems per ore.[5]
  • The Actually Additions crusher, the Ender IO SAG Mill and the Modern Industrialization macerator each give 1 gem per ore.[5]
  • Mekanism enriching gives 10 gems per ore. This recipe is marked as changed by the pack.[5]

You can also make gems without any ore. The pack adds an Applied Energistics 2 transform recipe that produces 4 gems.[5]

For mining, the pack adds recipes that produce Deepslate Blue Xychorium Ore from an Occultism miner (a deeps miner) and from an Actually Additions mining lens used on deepslate.[5]

Once you have gems, the mod's own packing recipe turns them into a storage block, Blue Xychorium Gem Storage.[5]

How do you progress through XyCraft World?

5 parts

The recipes don't label tiers, but they do form a clear chain: Kivi, then Xychorium gems, then aluminum, then the building and glass blocks. Here's how that chain looks in this pack.[5]

Stage 1: Kivi

Everything starts with Kivi. The XyCraft extractor makes it from water, and there are extractor catalyst recipes that make it with no item inputs at all.[5]

Extractor (xycraft_machines)

Recipe id: xycraft:extractor/kivi

The pack also adds a dripper recipe that makes Kivi from 1,000 lava, so you have a second route if you'd rather not use the extractor.[5]

Dripper (ftbstuff)

Recipe id: ftb:stuff/dripper/kivi

Stage 2: Xychorium gems

Kivi is your source of the Xychorium gems: Blue Xychorium Gem, Dark Xychorium Gem, Green Xychorium Gem, Light Xychorium Gem and Red Xychorium Gem. The XyCraft crusher turns Kivi into every one of them.[5]

Crusher (xycraft_machines)

  • any kivi

Recipe id: xycraft:crusher/xychorium

  • The pack adds a Create Sifter recipe: Crushed Kivi with a Mechanical Blazing Mesh gives all of those gems.[5]
  • The pack adds an AE2 transform recipe that makes 4 Blue Xychorium Gems, and another that makes 4 Dark Xychorium Gems. Both use molten Kivi.[5]
  • The pack's Modern Industrialization quarry recipe, run with an Infused Pickaxe, can output Kivi and Xychorium ores in several colors, alongside ores from other mods.[5]
  • The pack adds Occultism miner recipes and Actually Additions mining lens recipes that produce deepslate Xychorium ore. The recipe named for dark Xychorium actually outputs Deepslate Red Xychorium Ore.[5]

Ore processing

If you mine blue or dark Xychorium ore, the pack adds crushing recipes for each of them in many machine mods. Create and Oritech give 3 gems per ore, while Immersive Engineering, Mekanism and Occultism give 2. Actually Additions, Ender IO and Modern Industrialization give 1.[5]

The Mekanism enriching recipe for blue and dark ore is marked as changed by the pack, and it gives 10 gems per ore. That is far more than the other machine recipes listed here.[5]

Stage 3: Aluminum

Aluminum ore comes in stone, deepslate and Kivi variants. Each one drops Raw Aluminum, and Fortune increases the drop. With Silk Touch you get the ore block itself instead.[32][33][34]

Raw aluminum can be packed into a Block of Raw Aluminum. Once you have ingots, you can craft Aluminum Torch. The recipe makes 2 torches.[5]

Stage 4: Building blocks and glass

Aluminum ingots craft into 4 Aluminum Bricks per craft, and the bricks craft into 4 Aluminum Tiles. The bricks also have a stonecutting recipe.[5]

The colored cloud bricks are where the gems and aluminum meet. Blue Aluminum Bricks and Dark Aluminum Bricks each make 2 bricks per craft.[5]

Gems can also be packed into storage blocks such as Blue Xychorium Gem Storage and Dark Xychorium Gem Storage.[5]

For glass, the stonecutter turns cheap glass into a Glass Viewer, and tinted glass into a Dark Glass Viewer. Glow ink sacs make 8 Glowing Glass Viewer per craft. Chorus fruit multiplies the phantom variants, giving 8 per craft.[5]

The toughest option is the Immortal Glass Viewer, which is made from a Reinforced Glass Viewer.[5]

How does XyCraft World work with other mods?

5 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

The links between XyCraft World and other mods in this pack come entirely from recipes. Almost all of them revolve around Kivi and the colored Xychorium gems. Here is where each one plugs into other mods.[2]

Finding Kivi and Xychorium ore

The pack adds a Modern Industrialization quarry recipe called "magical" that takes an Infused Pickaxe. It can output Kivi and every color of Xychorium ore: Blue Xychorium Ore, Dark Xychorium Ore, Green Xychorium Ore, Light Xychorium Ore and Red Xychorium Ore. The same recipe also covers ores from Malum, Occultism and Silent Gear, such as Soulstone Ore, Iesnium Ore and Bort Ore.[2]

Turning Kivi into gems

The pack lets you crush Kivi into Crushed Kivi with a Create crushing recipe or with an FTB Stuff hammer recipe. Both start from Kivi.[2]

From there, Create Sifter sifting recipes added by the pack turn Crushed Kivi into the gems. You can use either an Mechanical Blazing Mesh or an Mechanical Diamond Mesh, and each recipe lists every gem color as a possible output.[2]

Making gems with Applied Energistics 2

The pack also adds an AE2 transform recipe for each gem color. Each one combines Quartz Dust, a dye and molten Kivi. The dye decides the color you get:[2]

Transform (ae2)

Recipe id: ftb:ae2/transform/xychorium_gem_blue

The other colors follow the same pattern with their own dye.

Prismatic Xychorium

The pack adds an Industrial Foregoing dissolution chamber recipe that needs a gem of every color. On top of those it needs an Empowered Diamatine Crystal, Polymorphic Fluid Source and a Nether Star. The result is Prismatic Xychorium.[2]

Colored building blocks with vanilla blocks

The mod's own override recipes combine a gem with a vanilla block to make a color-tinted version. For example, Bricks plus a gem gives Blue Bricks or any of the other colors. Crying Obsidian, Chiseled Deepslate and Chiseled Stone Bricks work the same way. These are marked as mod recipes, not pack changes.[2]

Polished Deepslate gives the colored deepslate bricks, such as Red Deepslate Bricks. The chiseled wood pillars, such as Green Chiseled Wood Pillar, take any planks instead of one specific block. Each pillar color also has an alternate recipe whose id ends in _r.[2]

Which XyCraft World config options matter?

2 parts

The XyCraft World config files this pack sets cover two things: whether the geyser variants of the harvestable node set generate, and how that structure set is placed in the world. Both files live in config/xycraft_world.[6][7]

Structure toggles

The pack leaves both geyser toggles on, so geysers can generate on the surface and underground.[6]

Structure placement

The placement file controls how the harvestable node set is spaced out. These are the exact values this pack uses.[7]
