What is Ender IO?
2 parts
The project page describes Ender IO as a full-featured tech mod, with armor, tools, weapons, machines, conduits, inventory management and mobs. Keep in mind that the mod is being rewritten, so some features may not yet be ported.[1]
This pack ships Ender IO 9.0.6-alpha. That version number matters: the mod is being rewritten from the ground up for the latest version of Minecraft, and the project page warns that some features have not been ported yet. If you remember something from older Ender IO versions and can't find it, that may be why.[1][2]
What it covers
The project page lists machines, conduits, armor, weapons, tools, enchantments and decorative blocks as the main features, though it also says some features have not yet been ported.[1]
Conduit types
The project page lists these conduit types: item, fluid, energy, redstone, Applied Energistics 2 ME, Refined Storage and Mekanism Chemicals. As with the rest of the mod, it says some features have not yet been ported, so not everything listed there is guaranteed to be available.[1]
How do you get started with Ender IO?
5 parts
Ender IO is a full-featured tech mod with machines, conduits, armor, tools and weapons. Here is the order I would tackle it in this pack, starting with the materials everything else leans on.[1]
Step 1: Conductive Alloy
Start with Conductive Alloy Ingot. This pack adds several ways to get it, so you can use whichever machine line you already have. One route to start with is casting with Hephaestus Forge: 90 of molten conductive alloy in a casting table gives one ingot. A nugget needs 10 and a block needs 810.[3]
Casting Table (hephaestus)
- 90× Molten Conductive Alloy
Recipe id: ftb:hephaestus_materials/casting/conductive_alloy/ingot
Added by the pack.
The other pack-added routes run through alloy smelting from FTB Industrial Contraptions, the foundry from Oritech, and the alloy furnace from Energized Power, which makes 2 ingots per recipe. Redstone Alloy Ingot is also made in the Energized Power alloy furnace, and the pack changed that recipe.[3]
Step 2: Conduit Binder and conduits
Conduit Binder comes from smelting or blasting, and each recipe gives you 2.[3]
The blasting version also makes 2.
The pack changed the energy conduit recipes. The crude and construction alloy versions each make 8 Conduit Bundle, and the crystalline version makes 4.[3]
Crafting Shaped
| Copper Ingot or Iron Ingot | Copper Ingot or Iron Ingot | Copper Ingot or Iron Ingot |

Changed by the pack, and it makes 8 conduits.
Mixing tiers on the same line is allowed for energy, fluid and item conduits, so you do not have to rebuild a whole run when you upgrade. The options are conduits.canMixEnergyConduitTiers, conduits.canMixFluidConduitTiers and conduits.canMixItemConduitTiers, and each of them is set to true.[4]
Step 3: Power
Machines have an energy buffer and a running cost, and both are set in the config. The Alloy Smelter holds 64,000 uI and uses 20 uI/t, and the Sag Mill has the same numbers. The Soul Binder holds 128,000 uI and uses 60 uI/t.[5]
For generation, the Stirling Generator makes 40 uI/t at base, and a basic capacitor bank stores 500,000 uI. Those values match the mod defaults. The pack did raise the photovoltaic cell rates: energetic is 5 (default 4), pulsating is 20 (default 16) and vibrant is 80 (default 64).[5]
- energy.alloySmelter.capacity and energy.alloySmelter.usage cover the Alloy Smelter.[5]
- energy.stirlingGenerator.generation sets the Stirling Generator output.[5]
- energy.capacitorBankCapacity.basic sets the basic capacitor bank size.[5]
Step 4: Clear Glass
Clear Glass is made with alloy smelting, so it is a handy early recipe once your power is running.[3]
Later on
When you are ready for mobs, the Soul Binder is crafted from a Soul Vial. In this pack, soul vials cannot change spawners, because items.soulVials.allowSpawners is false.[3][6]

How does Ender IO work?
11 parts
Ender IO is a tech mod built around machines, conduits and power. Everything below comes from the pack's config files and data files, so these are the values this pack actually runs. Energy in these configs is measured in uI, and machine use is given in uI/t.[1][5]
How machine power works
Every machine has an energy capacity and a base usage, and both are configurable. The values listed here match the mod defaults in this pack, except the photovoltaic rates, which the pack changed and which are covered further down.[5]
- Alloy Smelter capacity: 64,000 uI (energy.alloySmelter.capacity).[5]
- Alloy Smelter base usage: 20 uI/t (energy.alloySmelter.usage).[5]
- Alloy Smelter cost per vanilla smelting item: 1,500 uI (energy.alloySmelter.vanillaItemEnergy).[5]
- Sag Mill base usage: 20 uI/t (energy.sagMill.usage).[5]
- Slicer base usage: 30 uI/t (energy.slicer.usage).[5]
- Slicer capacity: 100,000 uI (energy.slicer.capacity).[5]
- Soul Binder base usage: 60 uI/t (energy.soulBinder.usage).[5]
- Soul Binder capacity: 128,000 uI (energy.soulBinder.capacity).[5]
- Farming Station base usage: 40 uI/t (energy.farmingStation.usage).[5]
- Drain base usage: 10 uI/t (energy.drain.usage).[5]
- Impulse Hopper base usage: 16 uI/t (energy.impulseHopper.usage).[5]
- Niard base usage: 10 uI/t (energy.niard.usage).[5]
- Crafter: the config describes this as the energy cost of a crafting recipe, 3,200 uI (energy.crafter.usage).[5]
- Painting Machine base usage: 30 uI/t (energy.paintingMachine.usage).[5]
- Painting Machine energy for each painting operation: 2,400 uI (energy.paintingMachine.energyCost).[5]
Making and storing power
The pack raised the photovoltaic production rates. They are measured at midday without rain or thunder.[5]
- Energetic rate: 5, raised from the mod default of 4 (energy.photovoltaicCellRates.energetic).[5]
- Pulsating rate: 20, raised from the mod default of 16 (energy.photovoltaicCellRates.pulsating).[5]
- Vibrant rate: 80, raised from the mod default of 64 (energy.photovoltaicCellRates.vibrant).[5]
- Stirling Generator base output: 40 uI/t (energy.stirlingGenerator.generation).[5]
- Stirling Generator burn speed: 0.375 burn ticks per machine tick (energy.stirlingGenerator.burnSpeed).[5]
- Stirling Generator base fuel efficiency: 80 percent, used to determine burn times (energy.stirlingGenerator.fuelEfficiencyBase).[5]
- Stirling Generator efficiency gain per capacitor level: 20 (energy.stirlingGenerator.fuelEfficiencyStep).[5]
- Soul Engine capacity: 100,000 uI (energy.soulEngine.capacity).[5]
- Soul Engine base burn rate: 1 (energy.soulEngine.burnSpeed).[5]
- Basic capacitor bank capacity: 500,000 uI (energy.capacitorBankCapacity.basic).[5]
- Advanced capacitor bank capacity: 2,000,000 uI (energy.capacitorBankCapacity.advanced).[5]
- Vibrant capacitor bank capacity: 4,000,000 uI (energy.capacitorBankCapacity.vibrant).[5]
Chargers
- Wired Charger capacity: 128,000 uI (energy.wiredCharger.capacity).[5]
- Wired Charger base usage: 60 uI/t (energy.wiredCharger.usage).[5]
- Wireless Charger charge speed: 60 uI/t (energy.wirelessCharger.chargeRate).[5]
- Wireless Charger upkeep: 2 uI/t (energy.wirelessCharger.energyUpkeep).[5]
- Wireless Charger base range: 16 (wirelessCharger.baseRange).[5]
Range extenders add to that base range. The data map gives Pulsating Wireless Antenna a value of 16 and Vibrant Wireless Antenna a value of 32.[7]
Grinding balls
Each grinding ball in the Sag Mill data map has a bonus multiplier, a durability, an output multiplier and a power use multiplier. Flint is listed with 24,000 durability, a 1.2 output multiplier and 0.85 power use. The dark steel ball has 125,000 durability, a 2.0 bonus multiplier and 0.7 power use. The vibrant alloy ball has an output multiplier of 1.75, and the redstone alloy ball has a power use of 0.35.[8]
Obelisks
- Attractor Obelisk base range: 8 (obelisks.attractorRange).[5]
- Aversion Obelisk base range: 16 (obelisks.aversionRange).[5]
- Inhibitor Obelisk base range: 16 (obelisks.inhibitorRange).[5]
- Relocator Obelisk base range: 16 (obelisks.relocatorRange).[5]
- The Attractor does not attract bosses in this pack, since obelisks.attractorAttractBosses is false.[5]
- Attractor Obelisk base usage: 20 uI/t (energy.attractor.usage).[5]
Spawners and souls
- The Powered Spawner has a capacity of 100,000 uI (energy.poweredSpawner.capacity).[3][5]
- Its base usage is 20 uI/t (energy.poweredSpawner.usage).[5]
- Mobs without custom spawner soul data cost 50,000 uI to spawn (poweredSpawner.defaultSpawnEnergyCost).[5]
- Each spawn produces 4 mobs (poweredSpawner.spawnAmount).[5]
- It turns off when 2 entities are in range (poweredSpawner.maxEntities).[5]
- Past 10 spawners the spawners lose efficiency (poweredSpawner.maxSpawners).[5]
- poweredSpawner.spawnType is NEW in this pack, so it spawns the same entity types as the soul vial. COPY would spawn an exact copy of the mob in the vial.[5]

Soul vials cannot change spawners in this pack, since items.soulVials.allowSpawners is false. The chance of a spawner dropping a Broken Spawner is 1 here (blocks.brokenSpawner.dropChance).[3][6]
The Soul Binder handles this recipe.
Conduits and automation
Ender IO moves things through conduits. The mod lists item, fluid, energy, redstone, Applied Energistics 2 ME, Refined Storage and Mekanism chemical conduits.[1]
In this pack you can mix tiers on the same line for energy, fluid and item conduits (conduits.canMixEnergyConduitTiers, conduits.canMixFluidConduitTiers and conduits.canMixItemConduitTiers are all true). Chemical conduit tiers can be mixed too.[4][9]
Normal ME conduits have no idle power cost, since ae2.normalPowerUsagePerTick is 0.[9]
Dense ME conduits are free at idle too, since ae2.densePowerUsagePerTick is 0.[9]
Conduit Binder is made by blasting.[3]
The pack changed the construction alloy energy conduit recipe, which makes 8 conduits.[3]

To disguise a conduit, the Painting Machine makes a Conduit Facade.[3]
The Vat
The Vat runs fermenting recipes. One of them makes 500 of the concentrated cloud seed fluid.[3]

Reagent items carry a value in a category. Blue ice is worth 81.0 of cloud cold and packed ice 9.0. Gunpowder is worth 0.25 of explosives, and glow ink sacs are worth 0.5 of natural lights.[10]
Grains of Infinity from fire
Grains of Infinity can drop from a fire. A fire must be at least 260 ticks old before it can spawn Infinity Powder (grainsOfInfinity.fireMinAge).[6]
A sound plays when the grains drop, since grainsOfInfinity.makesSound is true.[6]
Up to 500 fires are tracked per dimension (grainsOfInfinity.maxTrackedFires). Once that is exceeded, older fires are pruned first.[6]

- Enderios teleport you with a chance of 0.3 (items.food.enderioChance).[6]
- An enderio teleport has a range of 16 (items.food.enderioRange).[6]
Enchanter and Ender IO block
- The Enchanter adds a base level cost of 2 to all recipes (enchanter.baseLevelCost).[5]
- The lapis cost is the enchant level multiplied by 3 (enchanter.lapisCostFactor).[5]
- The final XP cost is multiplied by 0.75 (enchanter.levelCostFactor).[5]
- The Ender IO block can interact with blocks from a maximum distance of 8 (enderface.enderIoRange).[5]
How do you progress through Ender IO?
5 parts
Ender IO in this pack does not have a tier ladder you can read straight off a quest chapter, so this page follows the in-pack recipes instead. The big theme is alloys: the pack lets several other machines make Ender IO's alloys, so you are not forced to use one machine line.[3]
Unverified Where Ender IO sits in the pack's quest book, and in what order its tiers are meant to be unlocked, is not shown in the sources here. Check the quest book in game for any guidance on that.
Alloys: the backbone of every tier
The pack adds extra ways to make Ender IO's alloy ingots. Conductive Alloy Ingot has pack-added recipes in an alloy smelter from FTB Industrial Contraptions, in an alloy furnace from Energized Power, and in a foundry from Oritech. The Energized Power version of that recipe makes 2 ingots at a time.[3]
Pulsating Alloy Ingot gets a pack-added Oritech foundry recipe. Redstone Alloy Ingot gets one too, and its Energized Power alloy furnace recipe is marked as changed by the pack.[3]
Dark Steel Ingot can be made in the FTB Industrial Contraptions alloy smelter (there are two pack-added recipes for it) and in the Energized Power alloy furnace.[3]

Casting with molten metal
The pack also adds Hephaestus Forge casting recipes for Ender IO metals. A conductive alloy ingot takes 90 units of molten conductive alloy, a nugget takes 10, and a block takes 810. Dark steel uses the same 90 and 810 amounts for its ingot and block, and End Steel Block takes 810 of molten end steel.[3]

Energy conduits
The pack changes the energy conduit recipes from Ender IO: Evolution. The construction alloy and crude energy conduit recipes each make 8 conduits, while the crystalline and crystalline pink slime recipes each make 4.[3]

Slicing recipes make the Ender Resonator, the Guardian Diode and the Skeletal Contractor.[3]
Grains of Infinity and soularium
Grains of Infinity have many routes. Fire crafting recipes cover bedrock and deepslate, and an infinity dust block crafts down into 9 grains. Mystical Agriculture gives 8 grains per craft, and there are also Productive Bees and XyCraft Machines recipes.[3]
Soularium Ingot comes from a Mystical Agriculture recipe that makes 4 at a time. A Productive Bees centrifuge recipe gives Soularium Nugget plus wax.[3]
Clear Glass is made by alloy smelting, and Dark Clear Glass has three alloy smelting recipes.[3]
How does Ender IO work with other mods?
5 parts
In this pack, the Ender IO links I can confirm come from recipes: casting with Hephaestus, centrifuging with Productive Bees, one fabricating recipe for the FTB Evolution 2 Companion, and a few Ender IO: Evolution recipes.[3]
Casting Ender IO alloys with Hephaestus
The pack adds Hephaestus Forge casting recipes that turn molten metals into Ender IO alloys. An ingot takes 90 of the molten fluid in a casting table, a nugget takes 10 in a casting table, and a block takes 810 in a casting basin.[3]
- ftb:molten_conductive_alloy casts into Conductive Alloy Ingot, Conductive Alloy Nugget and Conductive Alloy Block.[3]
- ftb:molten_dark_steel casts into Dark Steel Ingot, Dark Steel Nugget and Dark Steel Block.[3]
- ftb:molten_end_steel casts into End Steel Ingot, End Steel Nugget and End Steel Block.[3]

One pack change to know about: a pack script hides Block Detector from recipe viewers, so you won't find it by browsing there.[11]
Which Ender IO config options matter?
7 parts
Most of the Ender IO configs in this pack sit at the mod's own values. In the config files shown here, the only values marked as changed are the solar panel rates, so I'll start there and then cover the settings you're most likely to go looking for.[4][5][6][9]
What the pack changed
All three solar panel tiers are boosted in machines-common.toml. The config describes the rate as the production rate at midday without rain or thunder.[5]
- energy.photovoltaicCellRates.energetic is 5 in this pack (mod default 4).[5]
- energy.photovoltaicCellRates.pulsating is 20 in this pack (mod default 16).[5]
- energy.photovoltaicCellRates.vibrant is 80 in this pack (mod default 64).[5]
Power storage and generation
These all match the mod defaults.[5]
- energy.capacitorBankCapacity.basic: 500,000.[5]
- energy.capacitorBankCapacity.advanced: 2,000,000.[5]
- energy.capacitorBankCapacity.vibrant: 4,000,000.[5]
- energy.stirlingGenerator.generation: 40 uI/t base generation.[5]
- energy.stirlingGenerator.fuelEfficiencyBase: 80 percent base efficiency, used to determine burn times.[5]
- energy.stirlingGenerator.fuelEfficiencyStep: 20, the efficiency increase per capacitor level.[5]
Conduits
You can mix conduit tiers in the same block for energy, fluid and item conduits. Chemical conduits from the Mekanism integration can be mixed too.[4][9]
- conduits.canMixEnergyConduitTiers, conduits.canMixFluidConduitTiers and conduits.canMixItemConduitTiers are all true.[4]
- mekanism.canMixChemicalConduitTiers is true.[9]
- ae2.normalPowerUsagePerTick is 0, so normal ME conduits cost nothing at idle.[9]
- ae2.densePowerUsagePerTick is 0, so dense ME conduits cost nothing at idle either.[9]
Spawners and soul vials
Soul vials cannot change spawners here, because items.soulVials.allowSpawners is false.[6]
- poweredSpawner.spawnType is "NEW", which spawns the same entity types as the soul vial rather than an exact copy of the mob.[5]
- poweredSpawner.spawnAmount is 4 mobs per spawn.[5]
- poweredSpawner.defaultSpawnEnergyCost is 50,000, used for mobs without custom spawner soul data.[5]
- poweredSpawner.maxEntities is 2, the number of entities in range that turns the powered spawner off.[5]
Obelisks
The Attractor Obelisk does not attract bosses in this pack, since obelisks.attractorAttractBosses is false. Base ranges are at the mod defaults:[5]
- obelisks.attractorRange: 8.[5]
- obelisks.aversionRange: 16.[5]
- obelisks.inhibitorRange: 16.[5]
- obelisks.relocatorRange: 16.[5]
Travel and items
- items.travelling.blinkRange is 24.[6]
- items.travelling.blockToBlockRange is 96.[6]
- items.travelling.itemToBlockRange is 192.[6]
- items.electromagnet.range is 5.[6]
- items.electromagnet.maxItems is 20.[6]
- items.electromagnet.maxEnergy is 100,000.[6]
- items.food.enderioChance is 0.3, the chance of an enderio teleporting you.[6]
- items.food.enderioRange is 16, the range of an enderio teleport.[6]
Enchanter costs
- enchanter.baseLevelCost is 2, the base level cost added to all enchanter recipes.[5]
- enchanter.lapisCostFactor is 3, and the lapis cost is the enchant level multiplied by this value.[5]
- enchanter.levelCostFactor is 0.75 and multiplies the final XP cost. The config's own comment says 0.5 would halve costs.[5]
What changed in Ender IO between versions?
3 parts
FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 ships Ender IO 9.0.6-alpha. The mod has been in the pack since 1.0.2 or earlier, so this is the version you are playing with.[2]
