What is Thunder Relics?

This pack includes Thunder Relics at version 1.1, shipped as the file thunderrelics-1.1.jar. It has been in the pack since version 1.0.2 or earlier, so it is not a recent addition.[1]

The sources available here do not describe what the mod's items or features do, so this page does not go into gameplay details. The mod's registry namespace is thunderrelics, which is what you will see in item ids.[1]

How do you get started with Thunder Relics?

3 parts

Good news: getting started with Thunder Relics in this pack comes down to a single item, the Royal Glaive. It is the only Thunder Relics item the pack's recipe data shows a way to make, so that is where you begin.[2]

Make the Royal Glaive

The pack added its own recipe for the Royal Glaive. It is a fabricating recipe, a recipe type from FTB Evolution 2 Companion. It is not a normal crafting table recipe, so don't go looking for a shaped grid.[2]

Fabricating (ftbevolutioncompanion)

Recipe id: ftb:fabricating/royal_glaive

The pack added this recipe. It calls for 16,000 of each fluid, so plan your supply first.

The inputs are Blood from EvilCraft and an XP fluid source from Just Dire Things. Both are needed in amounts of 16,000, so set up a steady supply of each before you start.[2]

Why the Glaive first

The Royal Glaive is a throwable weapon. You hold right-click to throw it. On a hit it deals 1.5 times your attack damage, then summons decorative lightning against nearby enemies.[3]

The thrown projectile shows up in the game as a Thrown Royal Glaive.[3]

What else the mod adds

Thunder Relics also has a Thunder Royal armor set. The sources here show no recipe for any of the pieces, so this guide can't tell you how to get them. Here is what each piece does, going by its in-game tooltip:[3]

  • Thunder Crown: when an enemy targets you, it summons decorative lightning at the enemy, dealing 10 damage and setting it on fire for 10 seconds.[3]
  • Thunder Royal Chestplate: when you are hurt, there is a 30% chance to summon decorative lightning at the enemy, dealing 3 damage and setting it on fire for 3 seconds. Cooldown: 1 second.[3]
  • Thunder Royal Leggings: while it is raining or you are in water, you gain Regeneration I and Strength II.[3]
  • Thunder Royal Boots: you gain Speed II and can walk across water on a short-lived ice layer.[3]

The mod also adds a Thunder King entity and a Thunder King Spawn Egg. This is all the sources here confirm about them.[3]

How does Thunder Relics work?

5 parts

What the sources show for Thunder Relics is a structure, a mob and a set of gear with special effects. There are no machines, multiblocks or power systems in what the sources cover, so this section follows how those pieces fit together.[3][4][5][6]

The Thunder Court

The mod adds a surface structure called the Thunder Court. It can generate in these biomes: plains, sunflower plains, meadow, forest and birch forest.[4][7]

Placement is random spread with a spacing of 120 and a separation of 80. The structure is a jigsaw with a size of 1 and a single piece in its pool, so the court is one fixed build rather than a sprawling layout.[5][7][8]

The Thunder King and its drops

The mod adds a mob called the Thunder King, and there is a Thunder King Spawn Egg item. Its loot table has separate pools that each roll once, and each pool holds one piece of the relic set: the helmet, chestplate, leggings, boots and the Royal Glaive.[3][6]

The armor set

Each armor piece has its own effect, taken from the item tooltips. The lightning these pieces summon is described as decorative.[3]

  • Thunder Crown (Thunder Crown): when an enemy targets you, it summons decorative lightning at that enemy, dealing 10 damage and setting it on fire for 10 seconds.[3][6]
  • Thunder Royal Chestplate (Thunder Royal Chestplate): when you are hurt, there is a 30% chance to summon decorative lightning at the enemy, dealing 3 damage and setting it on fire for 3 seconds. The cooldown is 1 second.[3][6]
  • Thunder Royal Leggings (Thunder Royal Leggings): while it is raining or you are in water, you gain Regeneration I and Strength II.[3][6]
  • Thunder Royal Boots (Thunder Royal Boots): you gain Speed II and can walk across water on a short-lived ice layer.[3][6]

The Royal Glaive

The Royal Glaive is a thrown weapon. You hold right-click to throw it, and the projectile is a Thrown Royal Glaive entity. On a hit it deals 1.5× your attack damage, then summons decorative lightning against nearby enemies.[3]

Getting a glaive in this pack

Besides the Thunder King drop, this pack adds its own crafting route for the glaive. It is a fabricating recipe from FTB Evolution 2 Companion that needs 16,000 of a fluid from EvilCraft and 16,000 of a fluid from Just Dire Things. The exact in-pack recipe is below.[2]

How do you progress through Thunder Relics?

3 parts

Thunder Relics is a short progression in this pack. What the pack's data confirms is a single set of gear, not a ladder of tiers. What I can show you is where that gear comes from and the extra route the pack gives you for the glaive.[2][6]

The Royal set from the Thunder King

The Thunder King's loot table has a separate pool for each piece of gear, and every pool rolls once for a single entry: Thunder Crown, Thunder Royal Chestplate, Thunder Royal Leggings, Thunder Royal Boots and the Royal Glaive. So the Thunder King is the source of the full Royal armour set plus the glaive.[6]

Finding the Thunder Court

The mod adds a surface structure called the Thunder Court. It can generate in plains, sunflower plains, meadow, forest and birch forest biomes, so start your search in any of those.[4][7]

The structure set uses random spread placement with a spacing value of 120 and a separation value of 80.[5]

Crafting the glaive in this pack

The pack adds its own recipe for the Royal Glaive, using the fabricating recipe type from FTB Evolution 2 Companion. That gives you a second route to the glaive besides the boss drop. Here is the exact in-pack recipe:[2]

Royal GlaiveAdded by the pack

Fabricating (ftbevolutioncompanion)

Recipe id: ftb:fabricating/royal_glaive

This recipe is added by the pack, it is not a default from the mod.

Tip: The armour pieces show up in the Thunder King's loot table, but the recipe dump shows no pack recipe for them. If you want the full Royal set, plan on the Thunder King fight.[2][6]

How does Thunder Relics work with other mods?

1 part

The only link between Thunder Relics and other mods that the sources here show is a recipe, and it is a big one. The pack adds a way to fabricate the Royal Glaive using materials from other mods.[2]

Royal Glaive fabricating

This recipe was added by the pack, so it is not part of Thunder Relics itself. It uses the fabricating recipe type from FTB Evolution 2 Companion. It needs 16,000 of Blood from EvilCraft and 16,000 of Xp Fluid Source from Just Dire Things.[2]

Royal GlaiveAdded by the pack

Fabricating (ftbevolutioncompanion)

Recipe id: ftb:fabricating/royal_glaive

Both inputs are needed in amounts of 16,000, so plan your Blood and XP fluid supply before you start.

The Royal Glaive is also in the Thunder King's loot table, so fabricating it is an extra route and not the only way to get it.[6]
