What is Supplementaries?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Supplementaries is a Vanilla+ mod: it adds content that fills gaps in vanilla Minecraft instead of changing the game's whole direction. The goal is for everything to be functional, good-looking and a natural fit next to what you already have.[1]

The content covers both decoration and automation. The project page lists jars, signposts, faucets, weather vanes, spring launchers, sconces, planters and lights, among other things. It needs Moonlight Library to run, and the pack ships version 1.21.1-3.9.5.[1][2]

Who it's for

It suits you if you like building bases that look good and want a few handy gadgets to go with them. You don't need to take it on as a whole progression system. You can pick up the pieces that suit your builds and ignore the rest.[1]

The mod is also highly configurable. The developer points to the mod's own wiki for tweaking or disabling individual features. Keep in mind that the pack can change values, so check this guide's config sections for what applies here.[1]

In the pack

The mod's Wrench shows up in a quest. In the Industrial Foregoing chapter, quest a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" is about rotating Industrial Foregoing machines, which most wrenches can't do. The quest accepts the Supplementaries wrench as one of several valid options, alongside wrenches from other mods. The quest's author tested them mainly on the Laser Drill and notes that some wrenches might not work with other machines.[3]

Unverified Where Supplementaries sits in the pack's overall progression is not confirmed by the available sources. The mod is not on the ATM Star quest path.

How do you get started with Supplementaries?

3 parts

Supplementaries is a Vanilla+ mod that fills the gaps vanilla leaves. It adds jars, signposts, faucets, weather vanes, spring launchers, sconces, planters, lights, and a lot of decoration and automation blocks. Everything is designed to be useful, look good and fit alongside what the game already has, so you can start using it from your very first day.[1]

Watch out: Don't craft from memory! In All the Mods 10 6.2, every Supplementaries recipe we checked in the pack's recipe dump is marked as changed by the pack. If you've played Supplementaries somewhere else, check the recipe blocks on this page (or your recipe viewer) instead of trusting what you remember.[4]

Step 1: Grab a Wrench

Your first craft should be the Wrench. It rotates blocks, and the mod even has an advancement for using a Wrench to rotate a block. It's cheap, handy, and saves you from breaking and re-placing things just to turn them.[5]

There's a second reason to make it early. The Industrial Foregoing quest chapter has a quest, a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", that lists wrenches able to rotate Industrial Foregoing machines, and the Supplementaries Wrench is one of the accepted items. The quest author tested the wrenches mostly on the Laser Drill and warns that some might not work with other machines, so give it a try before you rely on it.[6]

Step 2: Make your base look good

Once your tools are sorted, Supplementaries really shines at decoration. Awnings are a great place to start. Craft a plain Awning first.[4]

Every colored version, like the Red Awning, is a shapeless recipe that dyes a plain Awning. Make a stack of plain ones and color them as you need.[4]

Buntings are just as flexible. Each colored bunting, like the Blue Bunting, has two recipes in the pack. One is shapeless and recolors a White Bunting. The other is shaped and makes the colored bunting directly.[4]

Step 3: Pick up some building block sets

If you love building, the mod adds full block families. Ash Bricks come with a matching slab, stairs and wall, and so do Blackstone Tiles.[4]

How does Supplementaries work?

6 parts

Supplementaries is a Vanilla+ mod that fills the gaps vanilla leaves. Its lineup includes jars, signposts, faucets, weather vanes, spring launchers, sconces, planters, lights, decoration and automation. It's also very configurable, and it needs Moonlight Library to run. Instead of one big tech system, each block has its own small mechanic. This section covers the ones the All the Mods 10 config actually explains.[1]

Unverified None of the available material explains how faucets, spring launchers or other automation blocks connect to pipes, hoppers or redstone. How they automate is left out here until it can be checked in-game.

Jars and cages

Jars hold liquids, and in ATM10 a jar's liquid capacity is 12, the same as the mod default. The config note says 12 is the value that keeps the fill level pixel-accurate.[7]

  • In this pack you can't right-click a placed jar to instantly eat or drink the food or potions inside it, because functional.jar.drink_from_jar is off.[7]
  • Drinking straight from a jar item is also disabled, through functional.jar.drink_from_jar_item.[7]
  • If a mob can be tamed, you can only catch it in a cage or jar once it's tamed, because functional.cage.require_taming is on.[7]
  • Mob health doesn't matter. The health threshold stays at 100 percent, which accepts a mob at any health level.[7]
  • Capture is restricted. The options that allow all mobs, all baby mobs in cages, or any small mob based on its hitbox size (for both cages and jars) are all off.[7]
  • Hostile mobs you capture are not marked as persistent when you release them, since functional.cage.persistent_mobs is off.[7]

Cannons

Once you light a cannon, it waits a fuse time of 40 before firing. After a shot it needs a cooldown of 60 before it can fire again. ATM10 keeps both at the mod defaults.[7]

The fire power multiplier is 0.6 and the cannonball pierce radius is 1.1, also both mod defaults. A larger radius actually gives a cannonball less piercing power, because it spends more energy breaking the extra blocks.[7]

Bamboo spikes

In ATM10, Bamboo Spikes run in their alternative mode. You can only apply harmful effects to them, and in return they get infinite durability.[7]

Mobs killed by spikes do not drop loot as if a player killed them, because functional.bamboo_spikes.player_loot is off. So don't count on spike farms for player-only drops. The creative tab is filled with all the tipped spike variations.[7]

Ash

Mobs that die while burning drop ash. Burnable blocks can leave ash layers when they burn, and ATM10 sets that chance to 1, the top of its range. Rain slowly washes ash layers away, and basalt ash is enabled.[7]

Ash ties into a building set: Ash Brick crafts into Ash Bricks, which then make slabs, stairs and walls. All of these recipes are changed by the pack.[4]

Block behaviours worth knowing

  • An end crystal placed on a pedestal gives an enchanting power bonus equal to 3 bookshelves.[7]
  • Two iron gates stacked on top of each other open together. Iron and gold gates are not set to act like doors, so they don't need redstone to open.[7]
  • You can use an axe on a timber frame to remove the frame and keep the block inside intact. Placing daub in a timber frame turns it into a wattle and daub block. Shift-placing a frame directly onto a block is disabled.[7]
  • Slanted Awning blocks are enabled and bounce entities at the mod's default angle. You can crouch to fall through an awning.[7]
  • Flag poles can be up to 16 long, and you can right-click or left-click a stick to lower or raise a flag attached to it.[7]
  • Slidy blocks move at a speed of 0.125.[7]
  • A horse that eats a sugar cube gets a speed effect for 10 seconds.[7]
  • You can use a Blackboard through its GUI or by drawing on it directly, since the interaction mode is BOTH. Drawing in colour with dyes is off.[7]
  • Notice boards only accept maps and books. Flower boxes hold one tall flower per block. Item shelves aren't climbable, and hat stands only take the items they normally allow.[7]
  • Saplings that grow in a planter won't break it. With Farmers Delight installed, a planter also acts like rich soil.[7]

Effects and enchantments

  • Flammable makes you burn for longer and spreads fire as you walk.[5]
  • Overencumbered stops you sprinting. Higher levels also reduce your jump height and walking speed.[5]
  • The Stasis enchantment lets slingshot projectiles ignore gravity.[5]
  • Two lumisene enchantments add extra lumisene fire damage: one when you hit a mob, and one on arrows fired from a bow.[5]
Watch out: ATM10 marks many Supplementaries recipes as changed by the pack, including awnings, bellows and the blackstone blocks. Always check the recipe in-game instead of relying on an older guide.[4]
Tip: Fun secret: put a written book named credits into a Notice Board to see the people who contributed assets and textures to the mod.[1]

How do you progress through Supplementaries?

5 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Supplementaries has no tier ladder of its own in this pack. The only quest in the sources that touches it is a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", in the Industrial Foregoing chapter, where it comes after the quest named Industrial Foregoing. It accepts the Wrench as one of several wrenches that can rotate Industrial Foregoing machines. The quest text says the wrenches were tested mainly on the Laser Drill, and some may not work with other machines.[3]

The sources show no other Supplementaries quests. So the practical way to plan is to follow the recipes. Every Supplementaries recipe shown in the dump is marked as changed by the pack, so use the recipes on this page and not the mod's defaults.[3][8]

Starter builds: awnings, buntings and utility blocks

The decorative colour sets come first. The Awning has dyed colour variants, such as the Red Awning. Buntings come in the same colours, and there is a White Bunting among them. The Bellows and Bamboo Spikes also have pack-changed recipes you can craft early.[8]

How does Supplementaries work with other mods?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Supplementaries doesn't live on its own in this pack. A few of its items are crafted with ingredients from other mods, and its Wrench has a job in the Industrial Foregoing questline. Here's what the sources confirm.[3][8]

Recipes that use other mods' items

The pack changed the recipes for the Present, the Trapped Present, the Sack and the Planter. Each one now needs an item from Create or Farmer's Delight. The exact recipes are shown below.[8]

Wrench and Industrial Foregoing

In the Industrial Foregoing quest chapter, quest a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" covers rotating Industrial Foregoing machines, which most wrenches can't do. The Wrench is one of the wrenches that counts for this quest. The others come from Ender IO, Immersive Engineering, Just Dire Things and PneumaticCraft: Repressurized.[3]

Tip: The quest author tested these wrenches mainly on the Laser Drill, and says some wrenches might not work with other machines. If a wrench won't rotate a machine, try one of the others from the quest's task list.[3]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use Supplementaries?

1 part

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Supplementaries shows up in only one quest in this pack, and it's a small one. It sits in the Industrial Foregoing chapter, so you'll meet it while you're working through that mod's questline.[3]

Industrial Foregoing chapter

The quest a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" has no title. Its task is an item task that accepts any one of several wrenches, and the Wrench is one of them. The list also includes wrenches and tools from a few other mods, so you don't need Supplementaries specifically to complete it. The quest lists Industrial Foregoing as what it comes after.[3]

The quest text explains why it exists. Most wrenches can't rotate Industrial Foregoing machines, so the quest author compiled a list of the wrenches they found that can. They tested these mainly on the Laser Drill, so the results focus on that machine.[3]

Tip: Click the task in the quest to see every valid wrench. If you want to rotate Industrial Foregoing machines, the Wrench is one of the tools the quest lists for the job.[3]
Watch out: Some of the listed wrenches might not work on machines other than the Laser Drill, since the testing focused on that one. Try your wrench on each machine before you rely on it.[3]

Which Supplementaries config options matter?

4 parts

Supplementaries has a lot of config options, and this section covers the ones you'll notice most while playing. Good news first: every numeric setting that lists a mod default is left at that default in this pack, so capacities, ranges and timers all behave the way the mod ships them.[7]

Unverified The config file doesn't list mod defaults for on/off toggles, so it isn't confirmed whether the pack changed any of the true/false settings below from the mod's defaults.

Jars and cages

Sacks, quivers and baskets

Slingshots, bombs and cannons

  • Slingshots in this pack can throw buckets, which place their contents when they land. Bombs, ender pearls, fire charges, snowballs and splash potions are all disabled. A slingshot takes 20 ticks to fully charge.[7]
  • Both normal and blue bombs are set to break only weak blocks through tools.bomb.break_blocks and tools.bomb.blue_bomb.break_blocks. The explosion radius is 2 for normal bombs and 5.15 for blue bombs.[7]
  • tools.bomb.bomb_fuse is 0, so bombs explode on contact, and the bomb item cooldown is enabled.[7]
  • Cannons use a fuse time of 40, a cooldown of 60 and a fire power multiplier of 0.6.[7]

Handy tweaks

Tip: Building an enchanting setup? An end crystal on a pedestal counts as 3 bookshelves of enchanting power. A pile of 4 placed books gives 1, and a pile of 4 enchanted books gives 1.334.[7]

What changed in Supplementaries between versions?

1 part

All the Mods 10 6.2 ships Supplementaries 1.21-3.5.29, and the mod has been in the pack since All the Mods 10 2.2 or earlier. It's been updated regularly across the pack's releases, so the version you're playing today is well past the one early players started on.[9]

The biggest milestone in the pack's history was the move out of beta. From All the Mods 10 2.26 through 2.40, the pack ran beta builds, climbing from 1.21-3.0.30-beta up to 1.21-3.0.41-beta. In All the Mods 10 2.42 it jumped from 1.21-3.0.41-beta to 1.21-3.1.2, the first build in the pack without a beta tag.[10][11][12][13][14][15]

  • All the Mods 10 2.26: 1.21-3.0.30-beta to 1.21-3.0.33-beta.[15]

Unverified The pack changelogs only record version numbers, and the mod's own changelogs for these builds weren't available. So what each update added, changed or fixed in Supplementaries can't be confirmed here. There's also a gap between the 4.15 entry, which ends at 1.21-3.4.20, and the 5.5 entry, which starts from 1.21-3.5.14. Which pack release made that jump is unverified.
