What is Supplementaries?
1 part
Supplementaries is a "Vanilla+" mod that fills gaps in vanilla Minecraft with content that is meant to be functional and good looking. Its page lists jars, signposts, faucets, weather vanes, spring launchers, sconces, planters, lights, decoration and automation. It is also described as highly configurable.[1]
This pack includes Supplementaries 1.21.1-3.9.8 as the NeoForge build, and it has been in the pack since 0.3.0-beta or earlier. The mod's page says it requires Moonlight Library.[1][2]
Where the quest book puts it
In the quest text I can see, Supplementaries appears in one place: the "Industrial Foregoing" chapter. That chapter is in the "Tech" group and is chapter 48 of 70 in the book, with 76 quests.[3]
The quest is a quest in "Industrial Foregoing". It comes straight after the chapter's opening quest, "Industrial Foregoing" quest, the Tier 1 quest that has you craft a Pity Machine Frame. Among the quests shown, none lists the Yeta Wrench quest as a prerequisite.[3]
The quest accepts the Wrench or one of several wrenches and tools from other mods. The quest text says most wrenches can't rotate Industrial Foregoing machines. It lists the ones that can, tested mainly on the Laser Drill, and warns that some may not work on other machines.[3]
The sources I have don't place Supplementaries on the ATM Star path. 42 of the chapter's 76 quests aren't included here for lack of room, so check the Industrial Foregoing chapter in the quest book for the rest.[3]
How do you get started with Supplementaries?
3 parts
Supplementaries adds a lot of Vanilla+ content, and in this pack the recipes for its items have been changed. Use the recipe blocks below rather than any recipe you remember from the mod's defaults.[1][4]
Make a Wrench first
The Wrench is the best first craft. The mod has an advancement for using it to rotate a block, and the pack changes its recipe, so here is the in-pack version:[4][5]
This is the pack's recipe for the Wrench.
It also helps with other mods. The quest a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" sits in the Industrial Foregoing chapter, right after the Industrial Foregoing quest. It lists the Wrench among several tools that can rotate Industrial Foregoing machines. The quest author tested mainly on the Laser Drill and says some wrenches might not work with other machines.[3]
Add an Altimeter
The Altimeter is the mod's depth meter. The mod has a config for its click action, and that action displays your current depth. The pack changes this recipe too.[4][5]

Pick up some utility items
- Bellows push air, and the mod's config ties how fast they pulse to redstone power. The pack has its own recipe for them.[4][5]
- Bomb can be set up through a config fuse option so they explode after a set number of ticks instead of on contact. The pack has its own recipe for them.[4][5]

How does Supplementaries work?
8 parts
Supplementaries is mostly made of small, self-contained block behaviours, and a lot of them are shaped by the config. This section covers what the sources confirm for this pack, including where the pack changes the mod's defaults.[6]
Bellows and redstone
The Bellows pushes air in pulses instead of a constant stream. Its pulse timing comes from a base period at 1 redstone power, adjusted by a power scaling value for each extra level of power. The config also notes that the block pushes further the faster it pulses, and that it will only keep alive the two fire blocks closest to it.[4][5]
Cages and jars
Cages and jars capture mobs, and the config decides which ones qualify. In this pack functional.cage.allow_all_mobs, functional.cage.cage_allow_all_babies and functional.cage.cage_auto_detect are all false. Capturing every entity is described as not meant for survival, and auto-detect would otherwise allow small mobs based on hitbox size.[5][6]
Bamboo spikes
Bamboo Spikes can be tipped with effects. This pack turns on functional.bamboo_spikes.only_allow_harmful_effects, an alternative mode where only harmful effects can be applied and the spikes get infinite durability. functional.bamboo_spikes.player_loot is false, so mobs killed by spikes don't drop loot as if a player killed them.[4][5][6]
Bombs
The mod has bombs with options for explosion radius, block breaking, a fuse in ticks instead of explosion on contact, and an item cooldown. The blue bomb is a bigger version of the normal blast that can scatter baby bombs. The pack changes its radius: tools.bomb.blue_bomb.explosion_radius is 5.15 here, while the mod default is 3.[5][6]
Ash
Fire leaves ash behind. building.ash.ash_from_fire_chance is 1, so burnable blocks have the maximum chance to create ash layers when they burn. building.ash.ash_from_burning_mobs is true, so burning mobs drop ash when they die. building.ash.rain_wash_ash is also true, so rain washes ash layers away over time.[6]
Ash Bricks are crafted from Ash Brick.[4]
Awnings
Awnings can be slanted and bounce entities. In this pack building.awning.slant is true, and the bounce angle in building.awning.angle is 69.44395478041653, the mod default. building.awning.shift_through is true, so entities can drop through an awning by shifting.[5][6]
You craft the plain Awning first, then combine it with a dye to get a coloured variant such as Red Awning.[4]
Blackboards
The Blackboard can be drawn on by hand or through a GUI. building.blackboard.interaction_mode is BOTH here, so both methods work. building.blackboard.colored_blackboard is false, which means you can't draw directly on it with any dye. Even with that option on, the GUI would stay black and white.[4][5][6]
Crafting Shaped

Other block behaviours
- Road signs are enabled. They search up to 200 chunks away (building.way_sign.road_signs.max_search_radius) and look for up to 12 structure types per search (building.way_sign.road_signs.max_structures_searches). building.way_sign.road_signs.show_distance_text is true, so they show the distance to their target. building.way_sign.road_signs.exit_search_early is true, so a sign stops at the first structure it finds instead of the nearest one.[6]
- Flags can be raised and lowered by clicking a stick (building.flag.stick_pole is true). The maximum pole length is 16 (building.flag.pole_length).[6]
- A pedestal holding an end crystal gives an enchanting power bonus equal to 3 bookshelves (building.pedestal.crystal_enchanting).[6]
- Iron gates stay openable by hand because building.iron_gate.door-like_gates is false. Two stacked gates can open together because building.iron_gate.double_opening is true.[6]
- Notice boards hold only maps and books, since building.notice_board.allow_any_item is false.[6]
- Timber frames can be stripped with an axe, leaving the contained block intact (building.timber_frame.axes_strip), and placing daub in a frame replaces it with wattle and daub (building.timber_frame.replace_daub).[6]
- Gravel bricks can break when something falls on them or an entity lands on them with enough falling speed (building.gravel_bricks.allow_breaking).[6]
- Horses that eat a sugar cube get a speed effect for 10 seconds (building.sugar_cube.horse_speed_duration).[6]
Unverified The sources here don't explain faucets, jars with fluids, spring launchers or other automation blocks, and there is no in-jar guidebook to check, so how they behave in this pack is not shown.
How do you progress through Supplementaries?
2 parts
Here's the honest picture: the sources for this pack don't show a quest-driven tier ladder for Supplementaries. They show one quest that touches the mod, plus a recipe dump. So this section is short, and I'd rather give you what's solid than invent a progression.[3][4]
The one quest that touches Supplementaries
The Wrench is one of the accepted items for quest a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" in the Industrial Foregoing chapter. That quest unlocks after the main Industrial Foregoing quest. It exists because most wrenches can't rotate Industrial Foregoing machines, so the quest author collected the wrenches that can. The author tested mainly on the Laser Drill and notes that some wrenches might not work on other machines.[3]
The task accepts any one of five wrenches, so the Supplementaries one is just one option among several. Click the task in the quest to see the full list.[3]
The pack changed this recipe, so don't rely on the mod's default.
Recipes in this pack
Every Supplementaries recipe visible in the pack's recipe dump is flagged as changed by the pack. Don't rely on the mod's default recipes, and check the recipe blocks on this page instead. The dump is truncated, so I can't confirm the same for every recipe the mod adds.[4]
Here are a few useful crafts, shown with the exact in-pack recipes. The Altimeter, the Bomb and the Cage all use ordinary crafting-table recipes.[4]

The decorative blocks follow a base-then-variant pattern. Crafting Ash Bricks gives you a base block, and the matching slab, stairs and wall are each crafted from it. Blackstone Tiles works the same way. The Awning, the bunting and the candle holders also have dye-based colour variants.[4]
How does Supplementaries work with other mods?
3 parts
In this pack, Supplementaries links up with other mods in a few places. The recipes below are all marked as changed by the pack, so they are the pack's own versions and not the mod's defaults.[4]
Farmer's Delight
The Planter has an integration recipe that uses Rich Soil, and the Sack is crafted from Canvas. Both items come from Farmer's Delight.[4]

Industrial Foregoing
The Wrench is one of the tools accepted by the Industrial Foregoing quest a quest in "Industrial Foregoing". The quest explains that most wrenches can't rotate Industrial Foregoing machines, so it lists the ones that can. Besides the Supplementaries wrench, the accepted tools come from Ender IO, Immersive Engineering, Just Dire Things and PneumaticCraft.[3]
Which All the Mons quests use Supplementaries?
1 part
Supplementaries only shows up in one quest, and it sits in the Industrial Foregoing chapter. That chapter is in the Tech group and is chapter 48 of 70 in the quest book.[3]
Yeta Wrench
The quest a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" unlocks right after the chapter's opening quest, "Industrial Foregoing" quest. That first quest is Tier 1 and asks you to craft a Pity Machine Frame. Three other quests also unlock straight after it: a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" and "Item & Fluid Transport" quest.[3]
The quest asks for a wrench, and the Wrench is one of the accepted items. The other accepted items are the Yeta Wrench from Ender IO, the hammer from Immersive Engineering, the Ferricore Wrench from Just Dire Things and the Pneumatic Wrench from PneumaticCraft. You only need one of them.[3]
The quest exists because most wrenches can't rotate Industrial Foregoing machines. The quest author compiled the list of wrenches that can, and tested them mainly on the Laser Drill. Some of them might not work with other machines. You can click the task in the quest to see every valid wrench.[3]
Which Supplementaries config options matter?
2 parts
Supplementaries has a huge config file, and this pack leaves almost all of it alone. Only one value in the part of the file I can see is flagged as changed from the mod default, so that's where we start.[6]
The one value the pack changed
The pack sets tools.bomb.blue_bomb.explosion_radius to 5.15, while the mod default is 3. Blue bombs hit noticeably harder here than in a stock install. The rest of the blue bomb settings match the mod defaults: it scatters 5 baby bombs (tools.bomb.blue_bomb.split_count), each with a 1.2 radius (tools.bomb.blue_bomb.baby_explosion_radius).[6]
Settings players ask about
- Slingshot: tools.slingshot.allow_buckets is on, but bombs, ender pearls, fire charges, snowballs and splash potions are all off (tools.slingshot.allow_bombs, tools.slingshot.allow_enderpearls, tools.slingshot.allow_fire_charges, tools.slingshot.allow_snowballs, tools.slingshot.allow_splash_potions).[6]
- Rope: functional.rope.enabled is true. Turning it off would also disable galleons, pulleys, buntings and rope arrows.[6]
- Pulleys: continuous retraction and cooperative pulleys are both on. A single pulley can drag up to 8 non-rope blocks (redstone.pulley_block.pull_limit) and waits 4 ticks between pulls (redstone.pulley_block.pull_interval). Both match the mod defaults.[6]
- Cages and jars: functional.cage.require_taming is on, so tameable mobs can only be captured once tamed. functional.cage.allow_all_mobs is off.[6]
- Jars: you can't right-click to eat or drink from a placed jar, and you can't drink from jar items either (functional.jar.drink_from_jar, functional.jar.drink_from_jar_item).[6]
- Cannon: cooldown is 60 (functional.cannon.cooldown) and fuse time is 40 (functional.cannon.fuse_time). Both match the mod defaults.[6]
- Carrying capacity: quivers hold 6 arrow stacks (tools.quiver.slots) and sacks have 9 slots (functional.sack.slots). Both match the mod defaults.[6]
- XP bottling: tweaks.bottle_xp.enabled is false, so you can't bottle XP with a bottle on an enchanting table.[6]
- Clock and compass: right-clicking a clock shows the time as numbers, but right-clicking a compass for coordinates is off (tweaks.clock_and_compass.clock_right_click, tweaks.clock_and_compass.compass_right_click).[6]
- Safes: functional.safe.simple_safes is false, so safes still need keys.[6]
The config file has 137 more options that are not shown in the data I have, so this list only covers the part of the file that is visible.[6]
What changed in Supplementaries between versions?
2 parts
All the Mons 1.3.0 ships Supplementaries 1.21.1-3.9.8, the NeoForge build. The mod has been in the pack since All the Mons 0.3.0-beta or earlier. The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod, so everything below comes from the mod's own changelogs, listed oldest to newest.[2]
1.21 builds (3.5.16 to 3.5.34)
- 3.5.16 added a rope disable config and improved the rope config description. Other configs were improved too, which fixed some items not being disabled properly.[7]
- Also in 3.5.16: disabling ropes automatically disables pulleys, buntings, rope arrows, the mineshaft elevator and compat blocks like rope tomatoes and rope chandeliers. The deco blocks compat was updated as well.[7]
- 3.5.17 fixed the multishot slingshot consuming just 1 projectile. Rope arrows shot from multishot crossbows can now be shot more than 1, and still consume all the projectiles.[8]
- 3.5.26 fixed a crash with quivers.[9]
- 3.5.32 was a big cannon fix release. It fixed cannons shooting backwards, old cannons failing to load, a broken shoot animation, cannons not converting from old saves and a crash with galleons. The changelog noted that cannon boat rotation was broken at that point.[10]
- 3.5.34 fixed the cannon backwards-shooting fix not being included in the previous release.[11]
1.21.1 builds (3.6.4 to 3.9.8)
- 3.6.4 was a handful of minor fixes.[12]
- 3.7.7 fixed the wind vane renderer.[13]
- 3.8.0 added the mod's own config screen and more mod compat. The bubble blower can now be used by a dispenser.[14]
- 3.8.5 fixed some missing textures and improved the cooperative piston code.[15]
- 3.9.8, the version in this pack, fixed the pulley animation on the first pull, the cannon boat shoot range and the flags banner config item renderer. It also changed the hourglass load method a bit.[2][16]
