What is L_Ender's Cataclysm?

1 part

Same as in the All the Mods 10 7.1 guide

L_Ender's Cataclysm is all about difficult dungeons, challenging boss fights and powerful items. You beat the bosses to prove yourself, and your reward is some seriously strong gear. This pack runs version 3.31 of the mod.[1][2]

If you enjoy combat and want real boss fights to test your gear, this is your mod. Each boss lives in its own structure. The pack's Cataclysm quest chapter uses a set of Eyes to lead you to them:[1][3]

Cataclysm and the ATM Star

Cataclysm is also part of the ATM Star path. The ATM Star chapter asks for three items from this mod: Abyssal Sacrifice, Meat Shredder and Void Forge.[4]

  • The quest calls "Abyssal Sacrifice" quest the easiest of the three. It's the same item you use to wake up the Leviathan.[3][4]
  • For "Meat Shredder" quest, you first need to beat The Harbinger. You find it in the Ancient Factory deep underground in the Overworld, and you power it up by feeding it a Nether Star. The quest warns that this is a very difficult and long fight.[4]
  • "Void Forge" quest is the hard one. You need to kill 2 bosses and a miniboss: The Harbinger, the Netherite Monstrosity at the Soul Blacksmith in the Nether, and the Ender Golem in the Ruined Citadel in the End. Everything comes together at the Mechanical Fusion Anvil.[4]
Tip: The Harbinger sits on the path to both the Meat Shredder and the Void Forge. If you're going for the ATM Star, gear up for that fight early.[4]

How do you get started with L_Ender's Cataclysm?

5 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 7.1 guide

Cataclysm is all about difficult dungeons, challenging boss fights and powerful items, so your first steps are about finding a boss and earning its gear. The good news is that the mod gives you a clear starting point: the Eyes.[1]

Step 1: Craft an Eye

Each Eye points you to one structure and its boss, and the Eye quests in the Cataclysm chapter unlock after a quest called "Eye see you!". Pick the boss you want to tackle first:[3]

Heads up: in this pack the recipes for the Eye of Desert, Eye of Storm, Eye of Curse and Eye of Mech are changed from the mod's defaults. Always check the recipe shown here instead of relying on other guides. The Eye of Desert is a good example:[5]

Step 2: Get Ancient Metal from the Cursed Pyramid

Ancient Metal is a drop from pretty much everything inside the Cursed Pyramid. You can use it for Bone Reptile Armor, which the quest describes as giving very good stats for cheap armor, or for the Ancient Spear.[3]

To wake the Ancient Remnant, brush the Suspicious Sand in the side rooms of the big shaft. The Necklace of the desert can drop from it, and you right-click the Remnant with it to resurrect it. See "Necklace of the desert" quest for the details.[3]

Step 3: Ignitium from the Ignis

To fight the Ignis, you first need to beat the Ignited Revenant to get Burning Ashes. Use them on the Altar of Fire to summon the Ignis. The ashes can also be crafted from a Dying Ember.[3][5]

Watch out: The Ignis drops only 1 Ignitium Ingot, so decide carefully whether it goes into armor upgrades or weapons.[3]

Step 4: Prepare for the Leviathan

Waking the Leviathan needs an Abyssal Sacrifice. The quest points out that the Nautilus Shell and Heart of the Sea are rare, but Deeplings can drop them. The Athame comes from Deepling Warlocks and Priests, and the coral part comes from the Coral Golem and Coralssus. This pack changes both versions of the recipe: one uses Crystallized Coral and the other uses a Coral Chunk.[3][5]

Later: Witherite and the Fusion Anvil

The Harbinger always drops 1 Block of Witherite, which can be made into 9 ingots. Witherite is needed for the Mechanical Fusion Anvil, which combines Cataclysm items. This pack changes its recipe.[3][5]

How does L_Ender's Cataclysm work?

3 parts

Cataclysm is a mod about difficult dungeons, challenging boss fights and powerful items. This section covers how summoning, boss scaling and item abilities work in this pack.[1]

Summoning and cooldowns

Several bosses are summoned or woken rather than just found. The advancement text says you summon and defeat the Ignis, the Leviathan and Maledictus, wake and defeat the Harbinger, and excavate suspicious sand inside the cursed pyramid to wake the Ancient Remnant.[6]

The pack changed both versions of the Abyssal Sacrifice recipe. Both are shown below exactly as they work in this pack.[7]

This second version of the recipe is also changed by the pack.

The pack also stretches the Cursed Tombstone summon cooldown. [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Block.Cursed Tombstone Summon cooldown Minute]] is set to 15 minutes, up from the mod default of 1.[8]

Boss scaling in this pack

The pack changed a lot of the mod's boss values from their defaults. Here are the ones you'll feel most:[8]

  • Ender Guardian: [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Guardian.EnderGuardianHealthMultiplier]] is 20 (default 1) and [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Guardian.EnderGuardianDamageMultiplier]] is 8 (default 1). Its [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Guardian.EnderGuardianDamageCap]] is 70 (default 22), and its healing without a target is 30 (default 20).[8]
  • Ender Golem: [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Golem.GolemHealthMultiplier]] is 20 and [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Golem.GolemDamageMultiplier]] is 6, both from a default of 1. Its long-distance attack immunity range is 24 (default 6).[8]
  • Ancient Remnant: [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ancient Remnant.AncientRemnantHealthMultiplier]] and [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ancient Remnant.AncientRemnantDamageMultiplier]] are both 6 (default 1). Its long-distance attack immunity range is 28 (default 14).[8]
  • Amethyst Crab: health multiplier 6 and damage multiplier 8, both from a default of 1.[8]
  • Aptrgangr: health multiplier 3 and damage multiplier 8, both from a default of 1.[8]

Boss attacks were also boosted. Abyss Blast damage is 20 (default 10), Cursed Sandstorm damage is 12 (default 6), and Dimensional Rift damage is 15 (default 10). The Lava bomb radius is 3 (default 2).[8]

The same section of the config raises the player-side projectiles too. Phantom Arrow damage is 8 (default 5), and the player's Laser damage is 12 (default 7).[8]

Item abilities worth knowing

Many of the mod's items have active abilities, and the tooltips explain how they trigger:[6]

  • Ancient Spear: left click to shoot a Sandstorm.[6][7]
  • Astrape: right click to shoot a Lightning Spear.[6][7]
  • Laser Gatling: you reload it with Redstone from your inventory.[6]
  • Incinerator: hold right click for 3 seconds to charge, then release to summon a flame strike in the direction you're facing.[6]
  • Cursium Chestplate: revives you to 5 health on death with 5 seconds of invincibility. After that you're debuffed for 6 minutes and can't be revived during the debuff.[6]
  • Tidal Claws: right click to fire a grappling hook, and left click to shoot a tentacle that damages entities.[6]
Watch out: The Incinerator's tooltip warns that items may be lost when its flame strike explodes, so don't aim it at your own loot.[6]

How do you progress through L_Ender's Cataclysm?

5 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 7.1 guide

Cataclysm progression in this pack runs through one quest chapter. You craft an Eye to find a boss structure, fight the boss, then use its drops to unlock the next tier of gear. Every Eye quest sits behind the same "Eye see you!" quest, so you can pick your first boss in whatever order you like.[3]

Step 1: Craft an Eye and pick a boss

The pack changes the recipes for the Eyes of Desert, Storm, Curse and Mech. The Eyes of Abyss, Flame, Monstrous and Void use the mod's own recipes. Check the Desert Eye below as an example of a pack-edited Eye.[5]

Eye of DesertChanged by the pack

Crafting Shaped

Rotten FleshChiseled SandstoneBone

Recipe id: cataclysm:desert_eye

Step 2: Wake the boss properly

Some bosses need an extra trigger on top of finding the structure. For the Ancient Remnant you need Necklace of the desert, which you can find by brushing Suspicious Sand in the side rooms of the big shaft in the Cursed Pyramid ("Necklace of the desert" quest). For the Ignis you need Burning Ashes, which you get by beating the Ignited Revenant first ("Burning Ashes" quest). For the Maledictus you need Strange Key, which the Aptrgangr carries ("Strange Key" quest).[3]

The Leviathan needs an Abyssal Sacrifice ("Abyssal Sacrifice" quest). The pack changes this recipe, and it comes in two variants, both shown below.[3][5]

Where the extras come from: Coral Golems and Coralssus drop Crystallized Coral and Coral Chunk, and Deepling Warlocks and Priests drop the Athame.[3]

Tip: The Abyssal Sacrifice is also the easiest Cataclysm item you need for the ATM Star, so it is worth getting early.[4]

Step 3: Material tiers

Ancient Metal is the entry tier. It drops from nearly everything in the Cursed Pyramid, and nuggets, ingots and blocks convert between each other ("Ancient Metal" quest). The quest says the Bone Reptile Helmet and Bone Reptile Chestplate have no special effects but very good stats for cheap armor, and that the Ancient Spear outdamages a Netherite Sword.[3]

Ignitium comes from the Ignis, which drops only 1 ingot, so spend it wisely ("Ignitium" quest). The quest calls it an upgrade for Netherite armor ("Ignitium Armor" quest). The Ignitium quest also leads on to The Incinerator, Bulwark of the Flame and Blazing Grips.[3]

Cursium comes after the Maledictus: the untitled Cursium quest (a quest in "Cataclysm") follows it in the quest book. The quests for The Annihilator, Soul Render and Cursed Bow all come after that Cursium quest.[3]

Witherite comes from The Harbinger, which always drops 1 block, and that block can be made into 9 ingots ("Wither plus Netherite = ...?" quest). It is the gate for Meat Shredder, Laser Gatling, Wither Assault Shoulder Weapon and the Mechanical Fusion Anvil. The pack changes all four of those recipes.[3][5]

Step 4: Fusion gear

The Mechanical Fusion Anvil is the hub for the top tier. Put one item in the left slot and the other in the middle slot, and the result appears in the right slot. It has no durability, and the quest points you to JEI for the recipes.[3]

How does L_Ender's Cataclysm work with other mods?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 7.1 guide

Cataclysm is mostly self-contained, but the pack ties it into its own progression with a couple of custom recipes and quest links. Here's what the sources confirm.[3][4][5]

Pack-added recipes that use Cataclysm items

The pack adds recipes that take Cataclysm items as ingredients alongside items from other mods. They are shaped recipes defined through KubeJS, so you won't find them in the base mod.[5]

The first makes the Dragon Soul. One of its inputs is the Abyssal Sacrifice. The rest come from several other mods, including Allthemodium, Apothic Enchanting, Eternal Starlight, Occultism and Productive Trees.[5]

The second makes the Oblivion Shard. From Cataclysm it needs the Meat Shredder and the Void Forge. The other inputs come from EvilCraft, Forbidden Arcanus, Steve's Carts and Twilight Forest.[5]

Quest connections

The Abyssal Sacrifice also shows up outside the Cataclysm chapter. The ATM Star chapter has its own quest, "Abyssal Sacrifice" quest, which calls it the easiest item you'll need from Cataclysm for the ATM Star. In the quest book it comes after the Cataclysm quest.[4]

The Cataclysm chapter's own Abyssal Sacrifice quest, "Abyssal Sacrifice" quest, points you at Deeplings. They can drop the rare Nautilus Shell and Heart of the Sea you need, and they also drop the Athame. Coral Golems and Coralssus drop the coral part. The quest says the ingot blocks and Amethyst are plain vanilla items.[3]

The Infernal Forge is a Netherite Monstrosity drop that works as a pickaxe. According to its quest, "Infernal Forge" quest, it mines up to Netherite tier, so it can break Allthemodium Ore.[3]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use L_Ender's Cataclysm?

5 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 7.1 guide

Cataclysm shows up in two quest chapters in this pack. The big one is the Cataclysm chapter, which walks you through the boss summons, the drops and the fusion weapons. The ATM Star chapter then picks out three Cataclysm items you need for the star.[3][4]

Cataclysm chapter: the Eyes

Everything starts with the quest called Eye see you!. After it, each Eye gets its own quest, and each one points you at a boss structure.[3]

Waking the bosses

Some bosses need an extra item before they will fight. "Necklace of the desert" quest has you dig up the Necklace of the desert from Suspicious Sand to resurrect the Ancient Remnant. "Abyssal Sacrifice" quest asks for the Abyssal Sacrifice to wake the Leviathan. "Burning Ashes" quest wants Burning Ashes, which you get from the Ignited Revenant, to summon the Ignis at the Altar of Fire. "Strange Key" quest asks for the Strange Key, dropped by the Aptrgangr, to get you to the Maledictus.[3]

Drops and what unlocks them

After the bosses, the chapter branches by what you killed. Each quest below comes after the boss or mob named in it.[3]

Fusion quests

The last tier of quests all come after "Mechanical Fusion Anvil" quest, because they need the Mechanical Fusion Anvil. Each also needs the earlier quests listed here.[3]

Chapter 3: The ATM Star

This chapter has three Cataclysm quests, and each one comes after the Cataclysm chapter. They share names with quests above but are separate quests.[4]

Which L_Ender's Cataclysm config options matter?

6 parts

This pack rewrote a big chunk of the Cataclysm config. Almost every boss and combat value is far above the mod default, so don't plan around the stock numbers. Everything below lives in config/cataclysm.toml, and I flag what the pack changed versus what it left alone.[8]

Boss health and damage multipliers

Every boss multiplier listed here is changed from the mod default of 1. These are the main ones, as health multiplier and damage multiplier.[8]

  • Ignis: health 16 (Ignis.IgnisHealthMultiplier) and damage 8 (Ignis.IgnisDamageMultiplier). Its healing multiplier is 4 (Ignis.IgnisHealingMultiplier).[8]
  • Netherite Monstrosity: health 16 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Netherite Monstrosity.MonstrosityHealthMultiplier]]) and damage 12 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Netherite Monstrosity.MonstrosityDamageMultiplier]]).[8]
  • Ender Guardian: health 20 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Guardian.EnderGuardianHealthMultiplier]]) and damage 8 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Guardian.EnderGuardianDamageMultiplier]]).[8]
  • Maledictus: health 20 (Maledictus.MaledictusHealthMultiplier) and damage 18 (Maledictus.MaledictusDamageMultiplier).[8]
  • The Leviathan: health 16 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#The Leviathan.LeviathanHealthMultiplier]]) and damage 10 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#The Leviathan.LeviathanDamageMultiplier]]).[8]
  • The Harbinger: health 12 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#The Harbinger.HarbingerHealthMultiplier]]) and damage 8 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#The Harbinger.HarbingerDamageMultiplier]]).[8]
  • Ender Golem: health 20 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Golem.GolemHealthMultiplier]]) and damage 6 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Golem.GolemDamageMultiplier]]).[8]

Damage caps

The pack also raised the DamageCap option for the big bosses. Here is each pack value with its mod default.[8]

  • Ignis: 40, mod default 20 (Ignis.IgnisDamageCap).[8]
  • Ender Guardian: 70, mod default 22 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Guardian.EnderGuardianDamageCap]]).[8]
  • The Harbinger: 50, mod default 22 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#The Harbinger.The Harbinger DamageCap]]).[8]
  • The Leviathan: 80, mod default 20 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#The Leviathan.LeviathanDamageCap]]).[8]
  • Maledictus: 120, mod default 20 (Maledictus.MaledictusDamageCap).[8]
  • Netherite Monstrosity: 180, mod default 22 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Netherite Monstrosity.MonstrosityDamageCap]]).[8]

Healing without a target

The file describes these options as the boss's healing when it has no target. The pack raised them, so a boss you back away from recovers faster than in the stock mod.[8]

  • Netherite Monstrosity: 85, mod default 20 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Netherite Monstrosity.MonstrosityNatureHealing]]).[8]
  • The Leviathan: 45, mod default 20 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#The Leviathan.LeviathanNatureHealing]]).[8]
  • Ignis: 30, mod default 20 (Ignis.IgnisNatureHealing).[8]
  • Ender Guardian: 30, mod default 20 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Guardian.EnderGuardianNatureHealing]]).[8]
  • Maledictus: 24, mod default 20 (Maledictus.MaledictusNatureHealing).[8]

Long-range immunity

The "prevent attacks from far away" range is described in the file as the boss's immunity to long-distance attacks. The pack widened it for most bosses, so sniping from a distance is a bad plan.[8]

  • The Leviathan: 72, mod default 38 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#The Leviathan.Leviathan's prevent attacks from far away Range]]).[8]
  • The Harbinger: 64, mod default 35 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#The Harbinger.The Harbinger's prevent attacks from far away Range]]).[8]
  • Maledictus: 32, mod default 12 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Maledictus.Maledictus's prevent attacks from far away Range]]).[8]
  • Netherite Monstrosity: 32, mod default 18 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Netherite Monstrosity.Monstrosity's prevent attacks from far away Range]]).[8]
  • The Prowler: 32, mod default 16 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#The Prowler.The Prowler's prevent attacks from far away Range]]).[8]
  • Ignis: 28, mod default 15 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ignis.Ignis's prevent attacks from far away Range]]).[8]
  • Ancient Remnant: 28, mod default 14 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ancient Remnant.Ancient Remnant's prevent attacks from far away Range]]).[8]
  • Ender Golem: 24, mod default 6 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Golem.Endergolem's prevent attacks from far away Range]]).[8]
  • Ender Guardian: left at the mod default of 12 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Guardian.Guardian's prevent attacks from far away Range]]).[8]
Watch out: The Cursed Tombstone summon cooldown is 15 minutes in this pack, up from the mod default of 1 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Block.Cursed Tombstone Summon cooldown Minute]]). Don't expect to re-summon quickly.[8]

Weapon cooldowns

Good news for your own loadout: every weapon cooldown I can see in the file is a quarter of the mod default. Here are a few of them, as pack value and mod default.[8]

Tip: The Wither Assault Shoulder Weapon's missile damage is 128 in this pack, compared with a mod default of 16 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Weapon.WASW's WitherMissiledamage]]).[8]

Spawning, block breaking and quality of life

  • Amethyst Crab spawn rolls are 40 instead of 20 (spawning.AmethystCrabSpawnRolls). Higher rolls mean a lower spawn chance, so these crabs are rarer.[8]
  • The other spawn settings I can see match the mod default. For example, the Koboleton spawn weight is 15 (spawning.KoboletonSpawnWeight).[8]
  • Block breaking is set to false for the Ender Golem ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Golem.EndergolemBlockBreaking]]) and the Kobolediator (Kobolediator.KobolediatorBlockBreaking).[8]
  • Block breaking is true for Ignis (Ignis.IgnisBlockBreaking), Maledictus (Maledictus.MaledictusBlockBreaking), the Monstrosity ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Netherite Monstrosity.monstrosityBlockBreaking]]), the Ender Guardian ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Guardian.EnderguardianBlockBreaking]]) and the Ancient Remnant ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ancient Remnant.AncientRemnantBlockBreaking]]). The file describes these as ignoring mob griefing.[8]
  • Lava vision opacity for the Ignitium Helmet is 0.3, down from 0.5 (Etc.lavaVisionOpacity). Shader compatibility is on (Etc.shadersCompat).[8]
  • Boss music is on ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#bosses Common settings.BossMusic(on/off)]]) and so is the custom boss bar ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#bosses Common settings.custombossbar(on/off)]]).[8]
  • The return-home setting is 20, which is the mod default ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#bosses Common settings.ReturnHome]]). The file says that setting to 0 stops a boss from returning to its summoned location.[8]
