What is L_Ender's Cataclysm?

1 part

L_Ender's Cataclysm is all about combat. It adds difficult dungeons, challenging boss fights and powerful items. The idea is simple: beat the bosses in battle to prove yourself and earn some seriously strong gear.[1]

If you love tough fights and chasing unique weapons and armor, this mod is for you. Its dungeons and bosses are built to test your combat setup, and the rewards are the gear you earn by beating them.[1]

In All the Mods 10

All the Mods 10 2.44 ships L_Ender's Cataclysm version 2.64-1.21.1. The mod has been in the pack since version 2.25 or earlier.[2]

The pack gives Cataclysm its own quest chapter, and it makes a handy checklist for your progress. One group of quests asks you to collect the special eyes: Eye of Desert, Eye of Curse, Eye of Abyss, Eye of Flame, Eye of Void, Eye of Mech and Eye of Monstrous.[3]

Other quests follow the mod's special metals: Ancient Metal Ingot, Cursium Ingot, Ignitium Ingot and Witherite Ingot. Gear quests come after them. For example, the Cursium armor, The Annihilator, Soul Render and Cursed Bow quests all unlock after a quest in "?", the Cursium Ingot quest.[3]

The Mechanical Fusion Anvil quest is a key step near the end of the chapter. It's a prerequisite for the Gauntlet of Bulwark, Gauntlet of Maelstrom, Void Forge, The Immolator, Wrath of the Desert, Void Assault Shoulder Weapon and Ignitium Elytra Chestplate quests.[3]

How do you get started with L_Ender's Cataclysm?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.0 guide

L_Ender's Cataclysm adds difficult dungeons, challenging boss fights and powerful items. You beat those bosses to earn their gear, so this section walks you through the first things to craft and why.[1]

This mod also ties into the pack's wider progression. The "chapter_2_the_star" quest chapter asks for three Cataclysm items: Abyssal Sacrifice in a quest in "?", Meat Shredder in a quest in "?" and Void Forge in a quest in "?". Keep these three in mind as long-term goals.[4]

Step 1: Craft the eyes

The pack's Cataclysm quest chapter starts with seven quests, one for each eye. All seven have the same prerequisite, so you can make them in any order.[5]

Watch out: The pack changed the recipes for the Eye of Desert, Eye of Curse and Eye of Mech. If you remember them from somewhere else, check the recipes below before you go gathering.[6]

The mod's advancements list the dungeons you'll be hunting for: the Ancient Factory, Burning Arena, Cursed Pyramid, Ruined Citadel, Frosted Prison and Sunken City.[7]

Unverified Each eye probably works like an Eye of Ender and points you toward one of these structures. The sources don't confirm this or say which eye leads to which dungeon.

Step 2: First boss gear

The Cursed Pyramid has a hands-on boss to start with. You dig up the suspicious sand inside it to wake the Ancient Remnant, then knock it down.[7]

In the quest line, the Ancient Metal Ingot quest a quest in "?" leads to two early gear quests. The first is a quest in "?", which asks for Bone Reptile Helmet and Bone Reptile Chestplate. The second is a quest in "?" for the Ancient Spear, which shoots a Sandstorm when you left click.[5][7]

Plan ahead

The Mechanical Fusion Anvil quest a quest in "?" is a prerequisite for every fused-item quest in the chapter, including Void Forge. The anvil's quest comes after the Witherite Ingot quest a quest in "?", so plan for Witherite early. The pack also changed the anvil's recipe.[5][6]

How does L_Ender's Cataclysm work?

4 parts

Cataclysm is all about difficult dungeons, challenging boss fights and the powerful items you earn from them. The systems worth understanding are how you find and trigger each boss, how much tougher this pack makes them, and what your hard-earned gear actually does.[1][8]

Unverified The available sources don't document any machines, multiblocks, power, fluid or item-handling systems for this mod, so this section focuses on bosses and gear.

Finding and triggering bosses

The mod's advancements point you to six structures to hunt down: the Ancient Factory, the Burning Arena, the Cursed Pyramid, the Ruined Citadel, the Frosted Prison and the Sunken City.[7]

Not every boss starts the same way. Ignis, the Leviathan and Maledictus have to be summoned before you can defeat them. The Harbinger has to be woken up first. The Ender Golem, the Ender Guardian and the Netherite Monstrosity are simply listed as bosses to kill or defeat.[7]

The Ancient Remnant has the most unusual trigger. You wake it by excavating the suspicious sand inside the Cursed Pyramid, then you have to knock it down.[7]

Two crafted items with an abyssal theme are the Eye of Abyss and the Abyssal Sacrifice. Heads up: the Abyssal Sacrifice has two recipes, and this pack changed both of them, so check the versions below rather than a recipe you saw elsewhere.[9]

Unverified The sources don't say which boss or structure the Eye of Abyss or the Abyssal Sacrifice is used for.

Summonable allies

A couple of items let you bring a boss-like mob onto your side. The Netherite Effigy summons a Netherite Ministrosity, which you can tame with a Lava Power Cell. The Remnant Skull summons a Modern Remnant, which you can tame with a Sniffer Egg.[7]

The Modern Remnant is a lot beefier in this pack. Its health multiplier is set to 18 and its damage multiplier to 3, where the mod defaults for both are 1.[7][8]

How this pack scales the bosses

Each of these bosses has a health multiplier and a damage multiplier in the config. For example, this pack sets Maledictus.MaledictusHealthMultiplier to 120, far above the mod default. Every multiplier listed below was raised by this pack, so expect fights to be much longer and hit much harder than in a plain install.[8]

  • Maledictus: health multiplier 120, damage multiplier 15.[8]
  • Ender Guardian: health multiplier 40, damage multiplier 6.[8]
  • Ender Golem: health multiplier 35, damage multiplier 4.[8]
  • Ignis: health multiplier 25, damage multiplier 5.[8]
  • Amethyst Crab: health multiplier 14, damage multiplier 3.[8]
  • Ancient Remnant: health multiplier 8, damage multiplier 2.5.[8]
  • Kobolediator: health multiplier 6, damage multiplier 1.8.[8]
  • Aptrgangr: health multiplier 5, damage multiplier 4.[8]

Several bosses also have a setting that makes them immune to long-distance attacks beyond a set range. This pack pushed all of these ranges out. The Ancient Remnant goes from 14 to 28, the Ender Golem from 6 to 24, Ignis from 15 to 28, and Maledictus from 12 to 32.[8]

Watch out: Planning to snipe a boss from far away? These larger immunity ranges in this pack mean you'll have to get much closer to the Ancient Remnant, Ender Golem, Ignis and Maledictus before your attacks count. See [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Maledictus.Maledictus's prevent attacks from far away Range]] for one example.[8]

Three bosses also have a damage cap setting, and this pack raised all three. The Ender Guardian's cap is 70 (default 22), Ignis's is 40 (default 20), and Maledictus's is 120 (default 20).[8]

Unverified The sources don't explain exactly how the damage cap works, for example whether it limits the damage a boss takes from a single hit.

Some attacks use an HP damage value, set as a fraction from 0.0 to 1.0, and this pack raised several of them. For the Ancient Remnant, the normal attack is 0.1 (default 0.05), the charge is 0.2 (default 0.1) and the stomp is 0.038 (default 0.03).[8]

Maledictus has the most of these. Its melee is 0.08 (default 0.05), its AOE is 0.25 (default 0.15), its flying smash is 0.15 (default 0.1), its jump smash is 0.12 (default 0.08), and its shock wave is 0.05 (default 0.03).[8]

Unverified The sources don't say what the HP damage fractions are a fraction of. They may be a share of your maximum health added on top of normal damage, but that isn't confirmed.

Some attacks use flat damage values instead, and this pack raised those too. The Ancient Remnant's earthquake does 15 (default 11), the Amethyst Crab's earthquake does 12 (default 5), and the Aptrgangr's axe blade does 12 (default 8). Maledictus's Phantom Halberd does 12 (default 10) and its Phantom Arrow does 8 (default 5).[8]

Tip: Boss music volume is set as a denominator. This pack sets Etc.BossMusicVolume to 2 instead of the default 1.[8]

Gear mechanics worth knowing

Many Cataclysm items have active abilities or special rules that aren't obvious from their stats alone. Here are the ones the item descriptions spell out.[7]

  • Blazing Brand is a status that links several fire items. Blazing Grips have a chance to apply it on hit. The Gauntlet of Bulwark applies it when you hold right click for 1 second to push nearby entities. The Immolator deals critical damage to targets that have it.[7]
  • Bulwark of the Flame: release it while sneaking to charge forward and damage what's in front of you. If the target hits a wall, it takes extra damage and is briefly stunned.[7]
  • Incinerator: hold right click for 3 seconds to charge it, then release it to send a flame strike where you're facing. Be careful, because items may be lost when the flame strike explodes.[7]
  • Annihilator and Immolator: hold either in both hands and charge it for 2 seconds. The Annihilator deals AOE damage and the Immolator summons a Flame Strike.[7]
  • Cursium Chestplate: when you die, it revives you to 5 health and makes you invincible for 5 seconds. Afterwards you're debuffed for 6 minutes and can't be revived again until the debuff ends.[7]
  • Zweiender: deals 200% damage when you attack a target from behind.[7]
  • Final Fractal: deals 3% of the target's maximum health as extra damage.[7]
  • Meat Shredder: right-click damages entities in front of you and ignores i-frames.[7]
  • Laser Gatling: reloads using Redstone from your inventory.[7]
  • Ancient Spear: left click to shoot a Sandstorm.[7]
  • Bloom Stone Pauldrons: press the pauldrons' keybind to fire amethyst clusters around you that damage entities.[7]
  • Ignitium Chestplate: can be combined with an elytra.[7]
  • Blessed Amethyst Crab Meat: gives you a blessing effect that makes you immune to darkness, abyssal fear and abyssal burn while it lasts.[7]
  • Sticky Gloves: stop Koboletons from looting you.[7]

How do you progress through L_Ender's Cataclysm?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.0 guide

The mod has its own quest chapter, and it follows a clear path. You start by crafting the boss-finding eyes, then collect the special metals, then build gear from each metal. The final step is the Mechanical Fusion Anvil, which combines your best pieces into the top-tier weapons and armour.[5]

Step one: the eyes

Every eye quest in the chapter shares the same prerequisite, so you can craft them in any order. The eyes are Eye of Desert (a quest in "?"), Eye of Curse (a quest in "?"), Eye of Abyss (a quest in "?"), Eye of Flame (a quest in "?"), Eye of Void (a quest in "?"), Eye of Mech (a quest in "?") and Eye of Monstrous (a quest in "?").[5]

Watch out: This pack changed the recipes for the Eye of Curse, the Eye of Desert and the Eye of Mech. Use the recipes shown below, not the ones from an older video or the mod's defaults.[6]

Metal tiers

Each special metal has its own quest, and that quest unlocks a small group of gear quests. The ingot quests are the checkpoints to aim for.[5]

You don't craft the Ignitium and Cursium armour pieces from scratch. Each one is a smithing upgrade that uses its own upgrade template, so craft the template first. This pack changed the recipe for the Cursium template.[6]

How does L_Ender's Cataclysm work with other mods?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.0 guide

Beyond its own bosses and gear, L_Ender's Cataclysm feeds into two big crafting recipes that this pack adds itself. Both produce items from outside the mod, so the loot you earn from Cataclysm's dungeons ends up in wider progression.[6]

Dragon Soul

This pack adds a shaped recipe for the Dragon Soul, and one of its ingredients is Cataclysm's Abyssal Sacrifice. It sits alongside items from several other mods, so you'll be gathering from all over the pack to finish it. The recipe below shows the exact layout.[6]

Oblivion Shard

The Oblivion Shard is another pack-added shaped recipe, and it needs two Cataclysm items: the Meat Shredder and the Void Forge. Those are late-game Cataclysm weapons, so plan on some serious boss fighting before you can craft this one.[6]

Uses the Meat Shredder and Void Forge from Cataclysm.

Quests that tie it together

The questbook points you to these same three items outside Cataclysm's own chapter. A separate chapter has quests for the Abyssal Sacrifice (a quest in "?"), the Meat Shredder (a quest in "?") and the Void Forge (a quest in "?"), matching the Cataclysm ingredients in the two recipes above.[4][6]

If you're chasing those items, the Cataclysm chapter lays out the route. The Abyssal Sacrifice has its own quest (a quest in "?"). The Meat Shredder quest (a quest in "?") follows the Witherite Ingot quest (a quest in "?").[5]

The Void Forge quest (a quest in "?") comes after three others: the Mechanical Fusion Anvil (a quest in "?"), the Infernal Forge (a quest in "?") and the Void Core (a quest in "?").[5]

Tip: Don't treat the Abyssal Sacrifice, Meat Shredder and Void Forge only as gear. In this pack they're also ingredients for the Dragon Soul and Oblivion Shard, so keep that in mind before you commit them elsewhere.[6]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use L_Ender's Cataclysm?

5 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide

L_Ender's Cataclysm has its own quest chapter in this pack, and a few of its items also show up in a second chapter. Every quest is untitled and asks you to obtain a Cataclysm item, so think of the questline as a boss-loot checklist. Below it's grouped by how the quests unlock, from the boss-summoning eyes up to the Mechanical Fusion Anvil finale.[10][11]

The boss eyes

A set of eye quests all unlock from the same prerequisite quest, so you can chase them in any order once it's done. Each one asks for a single eye.[10]

Boss drops and standalone items

Many quests hang off different prerequisites and each ask for one item: a quest in "?" for the Necklace of the desert, a quest in "?" for the Abyssal Sacrifice, a quest in "?" for Burning Ashes, a quest in "?" for the Void Scatter Arrow, a quest in "?" for the Gauntlet of Guard, a quest in "?" for the Khopesh, a quest in "?" for the Tidal Claws, a quest in "?" for the Abyssal Egg, a quest in "?" for the Sandstorm in a Bottle, a quest in "?" for the Remnant's Skull, and a quest in "?" for the Void Core.[10]

Three quests share one prerequisite: a quest in "?" wants a Lava Power Cell and a Netherite Effigy, a quest in "?" wants the Infernal Forge, and a quest in "?" wants the Monstrous Helm.[10]

The ingot branches

Each of the mod's special ingots gets its own quest, and that quest opens up the gear made from it.[10]

The Mechanical Fusion Anvil finale

The Mechanical Fusion Anvil quest is the gateway to the chapter's final quests. Every one of these needs it, plus the other quests listed.[10]

Tip: Your Witherite Ingot is the real bottleneck here. It unlocks the Mechanical Fusion Anvil quest, and every finale quest waits on that, so prioritise it once your other branches are moving.[10]

Cataclysm items in another chapter

The chapter with the internal id chapter_2_the_star also has three Cataclysm quests, all unlocked by the same prerequisite: a quest in "?" asks for an Abyssal Sacrifice, a quest in "?" for a Meat Shredder, and a quest in "?" for the Void Forge. These are the same items the Cataclysm chapter asks for, so you work toward both chapters at once.[10][11]

Which L_Ender's Cataclysm config options matter?

4 parts

This pack changes a lot of settings in the Cataclysm config, and almost every change points the same way: the bosses are much tougher, and the weapons you earn from them recharge faster. Everything here lives in the mod's config file. Values described as changed are the pack's settings, not the mod defaults.[8]

Boss health and damage

Every boss and mini-boss has a health multiplier and a damage multiplier. The mod default for these is 1, and the pack raises them all. These are the big ones:[8]

  • Maledictus is the biggest jump. Maledictus.MaledictusHealthMultiplier is 120 and Maledictus.MaledictusDamageMultiplier is 15, where the default for both is 1.[8]
  • Netherite Monstrosity has a health multiplier of 80 and a damage multiplier of 8. It also fires 10 lava bombs per volley with a magazine of 10 (default 3 for both). Its healing without a target is raised from 10 to 65.[8]
  • The Leviathan has a health multiplier of 75 and a damage multiplier of 8. Its bite HP damage is raised from 0.1 to 0.4, the largest of its attack increases.[8]
  • The Ender Guardian and the Harbinger both have a health multiplier of 40 and a damage multiplier of 6. The Harbinger's healing multiplier is also raised to 5.[8]
  • Ignis has a health multiplier of 25 and a damage multiplier of 5. The Ancient Remnant is milder, with 8 for health and 2.5 for damage.[8]
  • The smaller threats are buffed too. The Ender Golem has a health multiplier of 35, the Baby Leviathan 20, the Modern Remnant 18, the Revenant 15 and the Amethyst Crab 14. The Prowler only gets a health multiplier of 4, but its damage multiplier is 8.[8]

Damage caps and long-range immunity

Most bosses have a damage cap, and the pack raises nearly all of them. Maledictus goes from 20 to 120 and Netherite Monstrosity from 22 to 180. The Leviathan goes from 20 to 80, the Ender Guardian from 22 to 70, the Harbinger from 22 to 50 and Ignis from 20 to 40. The Ancient Remnant keeps its default of 21.[8]

Bosses are also immune to attacks from beyond a set range, and the pack widens that range for most of them. The Leviathan's range goes from 38 to 72 and the Harbinger's from 35 to 64. Maledictus, Netherite Monstrosity and the Prowler are all at 32, and Ignis and the Ancient Remnant are at 28. The Ender Guardian keeps its default of 12.[8]

Watch out: Because of these wider immunity ranges, sniping bosses from a safe distance works far less well in this pack. Plan on fighting up close.[8]

Unverified The sources don't explain exactly how a damage cap is applied. It is probably the most damage a boss can take from one hit, but that can't be confirmed here.

Faster weapon cooldowns

  • The Immolator and the Sandstorm cooldown both drop from 300 to 150, and the Incinerator drops from 400 to 280.[8]
  • The Void Forge drops from 120 to 60. The Infernal Forge, Gauntlet of Bulwark and Bulwark of the Flame all drop from 80 to 60.[8]
  • The Gauntlet of Maelstrom drops from 180 to 120, the Void Core from 160 to 120, the Void Assault Shoulder Weapon from 120 to 80 and the Soul Render from 100 to 80.[8]
  • For the Wither Assault Shoulder Weapon, the Howitzer cooldown drops from 100 to 60 and the missile cooldown from 40 to 30. Missile damage is raised from 16 to 22.[8]

Block breaking and other settings

Several bosses break blocks even when the mobGriefing rule is off. This is enabled for the Ancient Remnant, Ender Guardian, Ignis, Maledictus, Netherite Monstrosity and Leviathan, and disabled for the Ender Golem and Kobolediator. The Harbinger's lasers can also set fires, and [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Weapon.Armor Infinity Durability(on/off)]] is on.[8]

Etc.BossMusicVolume works as a denominator and is set to 2 instead of the default 1, so boss music plays quieter than it would out of the box. Boss music, screen shake and the custom boss bar are all left on.[8]

What changed in L_Ender's Cataclysm between versions?

1 part

In All the Mods 10, L_Ender's Cataclysm has had a steady stream of version bumps. The changelogs only record which version of the mod the pack moved to, not what changed inside each update. The current pack, 2.44, ships Cataclysm 2.64-1.21.1, which is the same version it got in 2.43.[2][12]

Pack release timeline

  • All the Mods 10 2.29: Cataclysm is added to the pack at version 1.21.1-2.44.[13]
  • All the Mods 10 2.31: updated from 1.21.1-2.44 to 2.46-1.21.1.[14]
  • All the Mods 10 2.33: updated from 2.46 to 2.49.[15]
  • All the Mods 10 2.34: updated from 2.49 to 2.52.[16]
  • All the Mods 10 2.36: updated from 2.52 to 2.55.[17]
  • All the Mods 10 2.37: updated from 2.55 to 2.56.[18]
  • All the Mods 10 2.39: updated from 2.56 to 2.58.[19]
  • All the Mods 10 2.42: updated from 2.58 to 2.63.[20]
  • All the Mods 10 2.43: updated from 2.63 to 2.64, the version still in the pack today.[2][12]

The mod's file name changed format along the way. The first version was listed as 1.21.1-2.44, and every later one as the version number followed by 1.21.1, for example 2.46-1.21.1.[13][14]

Unverified What each Cataclysm update actually changed (new bosses, balance tweaks, bug fixes) is unverified. No changelogs for the mod's own releases were available, so check the mod's official release notes for details.
