What is L_Ender's Cataclysm?

1 part

L_Ender's Cataclysm is all about difficult dungeons, challenging boss fights and powerful items. You beat those bosses to prove yourself and earn some seriously strong gear. If you love exploring tough structures and taking on big boss encounters, this mod is for you.[1]

All the Mods 10 4.5 ships L_Ender's Cataclysm version 3.10 for Minecraft 1.21.1. The mod has been in the pack since All the Mods 10 2.25 or earlier.[2]

Where it fits in the pack

The pack gives Cataclysm its own quest chapter, and it works as your checklist. It starts with the eyes: Eye of Desert, Eye of Curse, Eye of Abyss, Eye of Flame, Eye of Void, Eye of Mech and Eye of Monstrous. Each one has its own quest, and they all branch from the same parent quest.[3]

From there, the chapter builds around the mod's special ingots. Ancient Metal Ingot leads to the Ancient Spear. Cursium Ingot opens up the Cursium armor, The Annihilator, Soul Render and Cursed Bow. Ignitium Ingot leads to the Ignitium armor, The Incinerator, Bulwark of the Flame and Blazing Grips. Witherite Ingot unlocks the Meat Shredder, Laser Gatling, Wither Assault Shoulder Weapon and the Mechanical Fusion Anvil.[3]

The Mechanical Fusion Anvil quest is a key step, because the chapter's last quests all need it: Gauntlet of Maelstrom, Gauntlet of Bulwark, Wrath of the Desert, The Immolator, Void Forge, Void Assault Shoulder Weapon and the Ignitium Elytra Chestplate.[3]

Three Cataclysm items also show up as quest tasks in a different quest chapter: Abyssal Sacrifice in a quest in "?", Meat Shredder in a quest in "?" and Void Forge in a quest in "?".[4]

How do you get started with L_Ender's Cataclysm?

3 parts

L_Ender's Cataclysm adds difficult dungeons, challenging boss fights and powerful items. You earn the best gear by beating those bosses, so your first job is getting to them.[1]

The bosses you'll eventually face include the Ender Guardian, the Harbinger, Ignis, the Leviathan, Maledictus, the Netherite Monstrosity, the Ancient Remnant and Scylla, the Storm Empress. The mod's advancements also point you to its big structures: the Ancient Factory, the Burning Arena, the Cursed Pyramid, the Ruined Citadel, the Frosted Prison and the Sunken City.[5]

Step one: craft the Eyes

In this pack, the first quests in the Cataclysm chapter each ask you for one of the mod's Eye items. They all unlock from the same earlier quest, so you can craft them in any order.[3]

Watch out: The pack changed the recipes for the Eye of Desert, the Eye of Curse and the Eye of Mech. If you remember them from another pack, check the recipes below before you gather materials.[6]

Unverified The Eyes are commonly used like an Eye of Ender to point you toward a specific Cataclysm structure. The provided sources don't describe what each Eye does, so test it in your world.

A good first fight

To fight the Ancient Remnant, you excavate the suspicious sand inside the Cursed Pyramid to wake it up, then knock it down.[5]

Early milestones in the quest book

The Ancient Metal Ingot quest, a quest in "?", opens up the Ancient Spear and the Bone Reptile armor quest, a quest in "?". The spear shoots a Sandstorm when you left click. If you end up with a Block of Ancient Metal or Ancient Metal Nuggets, you can craft them back into ingots.[3][5][6]

How does L_Ender's Cataclysm work?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 6.6 guide

Cataclysm is a mod about difficult dungeons, challenging boss fights and powerful items. This section covers how summoning, boss scaling and item abilities work in this pack.[1]

Summoning and cooldowns

Several bosses are summoned or woken rather than just found. The advancement text says you summon and defeat the Ignis, the Leviathan and Maledictus, wake and defeat the Harbinger, and excavate suspicious sand inside the cursed pyramid to wake the Ancient Remnant.[7]

The pack changed both versions of the Abyssal Sacrifice recipe. Both are shown below exactly as they work in this pack.[8]

This second version of the recipe is also changed by the pack.

The pack also stretches the Cursed Tombstone summon cooldown. [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Block.Cursed Tombstone Summon cooldown Minute]] is set to 15 minutes, up from the mod default of 1.[9]

Boss scaling in this pack

The pack changed a lot of the mod's boss values from their defaults. Here are the ones you'll feel most:[9]

  • Ender Guardian: [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Guardian.EnderGuardianHealthMultiplier]] is 20 (default 1) and [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Guardian.EnderGuardianDamageMultiplier]] is 8 (default 1). Its [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Guardian.EnderGuardianDamageCap]] is 70 (default 22), and its healing without a target is 30 (default 20).[9]
  • Ender Golem: [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Golem.GolemHealthMultiplier]] is 20 and [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Golem.GolemDamageMultiplier]] is 6, both from a default of 1. Its long-distance attack immunity range is 24 (default 6).[9]
  • Ancient Remnant: [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ancient Remnant.AncientRemnantHealthMultiplier]] and [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ancient Remnant.AncientRemnantDamageMultiplier]] are both 6 (default 1). Its long-distance attack immunity range is 28 (default 14).[9]
  • Amethyst Crab: health multiplier 6 and damage multiplier 8, both from a default of 1.[9]
  • Aptrgangr: health multiplier 3 and damage multiplier 8, both from a default of 1.[9]

Boss attacks were also boosted. Abyss Blast damage is 20 (default 10), Cursed Sandstorm damage is 12 (default 6), and Dimensional Rift damage is 15 (default 10). The Lava bomb radius is 3 (default 2).[9]

The same section of the config raises the player-side projectiles too. Phantom Arrow damage is 8 (default 5), and the player's Laser damage is 12 (default 7).[9]

Item abilities worth knowing

Many of the mod's items have active abilities, and the tooltips explain how they trigger:[7]

  • Ancient Spear: left click to shoot a Sandstorm.[7][8]
  • Astrape: right click to shoot a Lightning Spear.[7][8]
  • Laser Gatling: you reload it with Redstone from your inventory.[7]
  • Incinerator: hold right click for 3 seconds to charge, then release to summon a flame strike in the direction you're facing.[7]
  • Cursium Chestplate: revives you to 5 health on death with 5 seconds of invincibility. After that you're debuffed for 6 minutes and can't be revived during the debuff.[7]
  • Tidal Claws: right click to fire a grappling hook, and left click to shoot a tentacle that damages entities.[7]
Watch out: The Incinerator's tooltip warns that items may be lost when its flame strike explodes, so don't aim it at your own loot.[7]

How do you progress through L_Ender's Cataclysm?

4 parts

The pack has a full quest chapter for L_Ender's Cataclysm, and it works as a roadmap for the whole mod. It starts with a set of Eye quests that all share the same prerequisite. From there it branches into material tiers built on Ancient Metal Ingot, Cursium Ingot, Ignitium Ingot and Witherite Ingot. Everything comes together at the end with weapon fusion.[3]

Step one: the Eyes

The first quests each ask for one Eye: a quest in "?" for the Eye of Desert, a quest in "?" for the Eye of Curse, a quest in "?" for the Eye of Abyss, a quest in "?" for the Eye of Flame, a quest in "?" for the Eye of Void, a quest in "?" for the Eye of Mech and a quest in "?" for the Eye of Monstrous. They all unlock from the same parent quest, so you can do them in any order you like.[3]

Every Eye has a crafting recipe. Heads up: this pack changed the recipes for the Eye of Desert, Eye of Curse and Eye of Mech, so don't trust an old video for those. The Eye of Abyss, Eye of Flame, Eye of Void and Eye of Monstrous still use the mod's own recipes.[6]

The material tiers

Each material tier has a quest for the ingot itself. That quest unlocks the gear quests built on that ingot.[3]

Ancient Metal, Cursium, Ignitium and Witherite ingots can each be crafted from their storage block. Ancient Metal ingots can also be crafted from nuggets.[6]

Unverified The sources don't say where you first get these blocks or ingots, for example which boss or structure drops them.

Cursium and Ignitium armor are smithing-table upgrades, and each set uses its own upgrade smithing template.[6]

Endgame: weapon fusion

The Mechanical Fusion Anvil quest is a prerequisite for every final quest in the chapter. Most of those quests also need other quests done first.[3]

All of these endgame items are made with the mod's weapon fusion recipes, and the pack left those fusion recipes at the mod's defaults.[6]

How does L_Ender's Cataclysm work with other mods?

2 parts

Most of L_Ender's Cataclysm's ties to other mods in this pack come from recipes the pack adds itself. There are two kinds: a couple of big endgame crafts that need Cataclysm boss gear, and a long list of woodcutting recipes that let you use Cataclysm's chorus wood as ordinary lumber for other mods.[6]

Endgame crafts that need Cataclysm items

The pack adds a crafting recipe for Dragon Soul, and Abyssal Sacrifice is one of its ingredients. The other ingredients come from several different mods, so this is a crafting target that pulls from across the pack.[6]

The pack also adds a recipe for Oblivion Shard. It needs two pieces of Cataclysm gear: the Meat Shredder and the Void Forge. These are serious boss-tier items, so plan on progressing through Cataclysm before you can make this one.[6]

The questbook points you at this too. A quest chapter named chapter_2_the_star has quests for exactly these three Cataclysm items: a quest in "?" for the Abyssal Sacrifice, a quest in "?" for the Meat Shredder and a quest in "?" for the Void Forge.[4]

To see how you reach those items, check the Cataclysm quest chapter. The Meat Shredder quest a quest in "?" comes after the Witherite Ingot quest a quest in "?". The Void Forge quest a quest in "?" needs three earlier quests: the Mechanical Fusion Anvil quest a quest in "?", the Infernal Forge quest a quest in "?" and the Void Core quest a quest in "?". The Abyssal Sacrifice has its own quest there as well, a quest in "?".[3]

Unverified The sources don't say what Dragon Soul and Oblivion Shard are used for later on, so check their own recipe uses in-game. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Chorus wood as woodworking material

If you have a stack of Chorus Stem sitting around, the pack lets you run it through woodcutting recipes to make wooden items from lots of other mods. Chorus Planks works for a few of them too. Here are some examples:[6]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use L_Ender's Cataclysm?

5 parts

L_Ender's Cataclysm has its own quest chapter in this pack, and a few of its items also show up in a second chapter. Every quest is untitled and asks you to obtain a Cataclysm item, so think of the questline as a boss-loot checklist. Below it's grouped by how the quests unlock, from the boss-summoning eyes up to the Mechanical Fusion Anvil finale.[3][4]

The boss eyes

A set of eye quests all unlock from the same prerequisite quest, so you can chase them in any order once it's done. Each one asks for a single eye.[3]

Boss drops and standalone items

Many quests hang off different prerequisites and each ask for one item: a quest in "?" for the Necklace of the desert, a quest in "?" for the Abyssal Sacrifice, a quest in "?" for Burning Ashes, a quest in "?" for the Void Scatter Arrow, a quest in "?" for the Gauntlet of Guard, a quest in "?" for the Khopesh, a quest in "?" for the Tidal Claws, a quest in "?" for the Abyssal Egg, a quest in "?" for the Sandstorm in a Bottle, a quest in "?" for the Remnant's Skull, and a quest in "?" for the Void Core.[3]

Three quests share one prerequisite: a quest in "?" wants a Lava Power Cell and a Netherite Effigy, a quest in "?" wants the Infernal Forge, and a quest in "?" wants the Monstrous Helm.[3]

The ingot branches

Each of the mod's special ingots gets its own quest, and that quest opens up the gear made from it.[3]

The Mechanical Fusion Anvil finale

The Mechanical Fusion Anvil quest is the gateway to the chapter's final quests. Every one of these needs it, plus the other quests listed.[3]

Tip: Your Witherite Ingot is the real bottleneck here. It unlocks the Mechanical Fusion Anvil quest, and every finale quest waits on that, so prioritise it once your other branches are moving.[3]

Cataclysm items in another chapter

The chapter with the internal id chapter_2_the_star also has three Cataclysm quests, all unlocked by the same prerequisite: a quest in "?" asks for an Abyssal Sacrifice, a quest in "?" for a Meat Shredder, and a quest in "?" for the Void Forge. These are the same items the Cataclysm chapter asks for, so you work toward both chapters at once.[3][4]

Which L_Ender's Cataclysm config options matter?

6 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 6.6 guide

This pack rewrote a big chunk of the Cataclysm config. Almost every boss and combat value is far above the mod default, so don't plan around the stock numbers. Everything below lives in config/cataclysm.toml, and I flag what the pack changed versus what it left alone.[9]

Boss health and damage multipliers

Every boss multiplier listed here is changed from the mod default of 1. These are the main ones, as health multiplier and damage multiplier.[9]

  • Ignis: health 16 (Ignis.IgnisHealthMultiplier) and damage 8 (Ignis.IgnisDamageMultiplier). Its healing multiplier is 4 (Ignis.IgnisHealingMultiplier).[9]
  • Netherite Monstrosity: health 16 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Netherite Monstrosity.MonstrosityHealthMultiplier]]) and damage 12 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Netherite Monstrosity.MonstrosityDamageMultiplier]]).[9]
  • Ender Guardian: health 20 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Guardian.EnderGuardianHealthMultiplier]]) and damage 8 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Guardian.EnderGuardianDamageMultiplier]]).[9]
  • Maledictus: health 20 (Maledictus.MaledictusHealthMultiplier) and damage 18 (Maledictus.MaledictusDamageMultiplier).[9]
  • The Leviathan: health 16 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#The Leviathan.LeviathanHealthMultiplier]]) and damage 10 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#The Leviathan.LeviathanDamageMultiplier]]).[9]
  • The Harbinger: health 12 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#The Harbinger.HarbingerHealthMultiplier]]) and damage 8 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#The Harbinger.HarbingerDamageMultiplier]]).[9]
  • Ender Golem: health 20 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Golem.GolemHealthMultiplier]]) and damage 6 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Golem.GolemDamageMultiplier]]).[9]

Damage caps

The pack also raised the DamageCap option for the big bosses. Here is each pack value with its mod default.[9]

  • Ignis: 40, mod default 20 (Ignis.IgnisDamageCap).[9]
  • Ender Guardian: 70, mod default 22 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Guardian.EnderGuardianDamageCap]]).[9]
  • The Harbinger: 50, mod default 22 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#The Harbinger.The Harbinger DamageCap]]).[9]
  • The Leviathan: 80, mod default 20 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#The Leviathan.LeviathanDamageCap]]).[9]
  • Maledictus: 120, mod default 20 (Maledictus.MaledictusDamageCap).[9]
  • Netherite Monstrosity: 180, mod default 22 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Netherite Monstrosity.MonstrosityDamageCap]]).[9]

Healing without a target

The file describes these options as the boss's healing when it has no target. The pack raised them, so a boss you back away from recovers faster than in the stock mod.[9]

  • Netherite Monstrosity: 85, mod default 20 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Netherite Monstrosity.MonstrosityNatureHealing]]).[9]
  • The Leviathan: 45, mod default 20 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#The Leviathan.LeviathanNatureHealing]]).[9]
  • Ignis: 30, mod default 20 (Ignis.IgnisNatureHealing).[9]
  • Ender Guardian: 30, mod default 20 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Guardian.EnderGuardianNatureHealing]]).[9]
  • Maledictus: 24, mod default 20 (Maledictus.MaledictusNatureHealing).[9]

Long-range immunity

The "prevent attacks from far away" range is described in the file as the boss's immunity to long-distance attacks. The pack widened it for most bosses, so sniping from a distance is a bad plan.[9]

  • The Leviathan: 72, mod default 38 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#The Leviathan.Leviathan's prevent attacks from far away Range]]).[9]
  • The Harbinger: 64, mod default 35 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#The Harbinger.The Harbinger's prevent attacks from far away Range]]).[9]
  • Maledictus: 32, mod default 12 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Maledictus.Maledictus's prevent attacks from far away Range]]).[9]
  • Netherite Monstrosity: 32, mod default 18 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Netherite Monstrosity.Monstrosity's prevent attacks from far away Range]]).[9]
  • The Prowler: 32, mod default 16 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#The Prowler.The Prowler's prevent attacks from far away Range]]).[9]
  • Ignis: 28, mod default 15 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ignis.Ignis's prevent attacks from far away Range]]).[9]
  • Ancient Remnant: 28, mod default 14 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ancient Remnant.Ancient Remnant's prevent attacks from far away Range]]).[9]
  • Ender Golem: 24, mod default 6 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Golem.Endergolem's prevent attacks from far away Range]]).[9]
  • Ender Guardian: left at the mod default of 12 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Guardian.Guardian's prevent attacks from far away Range]]).[9]
Watch out: The Cursed Tombstone summon cooldown is 15 minutes in this pack, up from the mod default of 1 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Block.Cursed Tombstone Summon cooldown Minute]]). Don't expect to re-summon quickly.[9]

Weapon cooldowns

Good news for your own loadout: every weapon cooldown I can see in the file is a quarter of the mod default. Here are a few of them, as pack value and mod default.[9]

Tip: The Wither Assault Shoulder Weapon's missile damage is 128 in this pack, compared with a mod default of 16 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Weapon.WASW's WitherMissiledamage]]).[9]

Spawning, block breaking and quality of life

  • Amethyst Crab spawn rolls are 40 instead of 20 (spawning.AmethystCrabSpawnRolls). Higher rolls mean a lower spawn chance, so these crabs are rarer.[9]
  • The other spawn settings I can see match the mod default. For example, the Koboleton spawn weight is 15 (spawning.KoboletonSpawnWeight).[9]
  • Block breaking is set to false for the Ender Golem ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Golem.EndergolemBlockBreaking]]) and the Kobolediator (Kobolediator.KobolediatorBlockBreaking).[9]
  • Block breaking is true for Ignis (Ignis.IgnisBlockBreaking), Maledictus (Maledictus.MaledictusBlockBreaking), the Monstrosity ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Netherite Monstrosity.monstrosityBlockBreaking]]), the Ender Guardian ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Guardian.EnderguardianBlockBreaking]]) and the Ancient Remnant ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ancient Remnant.AncientRemnantBlockBreaking]]). The file describes these as ignoring mob griefing.[9]
  • Lava vision opacity for the Ignitium Helmet is 0.3, down from 0.5 (Etc.lavaVisionOpacity). Shader compatibility is on (Etc.shadersCompat).[9]
  • Boss music is on ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#bosses Common settings.BossMusic(on/off)]]) and so is the custom boss bar ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#bosses Common settings.custombossbar(on/off)]]).[9]
  • The return-home setting is 20, which is the mod default ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#bosses Common settings.ReturnHome]]). The file says that setting to 0 stops a boss from returning to its summoned location.[9]
