What is Just Dire Things?
2 parts
Just Dire Things (JDT) is a tech-and-gear mod, and this pack runs version 1.5.7. Its in-game guide describes lots of machines focused mainly on automation, new resources, and tools and armor that accept upgrades. There are also a few utility items like canisters and a portable generator. If you like automating chores and building up a customizable kit, this mod is for you.[1][2][3][4]
The heart of the mod is goo. You place a goo block, feed it the item it asks for to activate it, then put an eligible block next to it and it transforms that block. Higher tier goo can craft everything a lower tier can, and does it much faster. After a transformation there is a 10% chance the goo needs reactivating by feeding it another item.[5]
Where it fits in progression
The goo tiers line up with the game's dimensions and gate the mod's materials, so JDT progression follows a clear ladder:[5]
- Primogel Goo is made from basic Overworld materials. It turns Iron into Ferricore and also unlocks Primal Coal.[6][7]
- Blazebloom Goo needs Nether materials. It turns Gold into Blazegold and unlocks Blaze Ember.[7][8]
- VoidShimmer Goo needs End materials. It turns Diamonds into Celestigem and unlocks Voidflame Coal.[7][9]
- Shadowpulse Goo is the fourth and final tier and needs Ancient City and Warden materials. It turns Netherite into Eclipse Alloy and unlocks Eclipse Ember and the Time Crystal.[7][10]
The fuels climb the same ladder. Goo Spread on Coal Blocks gives Primal Coal, and each higher coal is made by spreading goo on the blocks of the previous one, up to Eclipse Ember. The quests also say Polymorphic Fluid is the base of all fluids and fuels in the mod.[7]
Each material has a matching armor set, and the guide says the sets share a theme of upgrades you install with a smithing table. Blazegold adds Lava Repair, which repairs gear dropped into a lava source block.[7][11]
The ATM Star path
The ATM Star path quests in the Just Dire Things chapter include all four goo blocks, the four coals, Eclipse Alloy, the Time Crystal and the Paradox Machine. In other words, the path runs through the whole goo chain up to the top tier. The Paradox Machine quest text is cut off in the sources I have, so I can't tell you more about it here.[7]
How do you get started with Just Dire Things?
4 parts
Just Dire Things is built around goo: you place a special block, feed it, and it turns nearby blocks into new materials. Almost everything else in the mod grows out of that, so goo is the first thing to get going.[5][15]
Step 1: Primogel Goo
Start with Primogel Goo. It is the first tier of goo, and it's crafted from simple Overworld materials. The Just Dire Things quest chapter covers it in a quest in "Just Dire Things".[6][7]
- Craft a goo block and place it in your world.[5]
- Activate it by feeding it the specific resource it consumes. The goo block shows you which one.[5]
- Place an eligible block next to the activated goo to start the transformation.[5]
Step 2: Ferricore
Tier one goo turns Iron Blocks into Ferricore, and the pack's quest "Ferricore" quest confirms this. Ferricore ore is affected by Fortune. The same goo also turns Coal Blocks into Primal Coal (Primal Coal).[6][7]
Ferricore opens up a lot in the quest chapter. The Ferricore tools and armor, the Simple machines, Ferricore Wrench, Machine Settings Copier, Fuel Canister, Pocket Ferricore Generator and Upgrade: Blank all come after the Ferricore quest.[7]
Simple machines don't need power, and they usually only affect the block or entity directly in front of them. That makes them a nice way to start automating. The pack changed the Simple Block Breaker recipe, so use this one rather than any default you remember:[16][17]

The recipe dump marks this recipe as changed by the pack.
Step 3: Blazegold
Next comes Blazebloom Goo, which needs Nether materials. Tier two goo turns Gold Blocks into Blazegold ("Blazegold" quest) and Primal Coal Blocks into Blaze Ember (Blaze Ember). Blazegold gives tools and armor Lava Repair: drop the item into a lava source block to repair it. The lava source turns into obsidian when you do.[7][8]
Raw Blazegold is smelted into an ingot with this recipe:[17]
Once you have ingots, you can upgrade Ferricore gear in a smithing table with the Blazegold template. For example, here is the pickaxe route:[17][18]
Smithing Transform
Recipe id: justdirethings:blazegold_pickaxe-templateupgrade
Upgrading this way keeps any abilities you've already installed.[18]
If you want to get around quickly, the Blazejet Wand has the air burst ability built in. Right click to blast yourself forward. While it's in your hand you take no fall damage.[19]

Step 4: Upgrades
Tools and armor get their abilities from upgrade items, which you install in a smithing table. Hold Shift over a tool or armor piece to see which upgrades it accepts. The pack's quest for Upgrade: Blank explains the basics: a quest in "Just Dire Things". Shift-click a tool in your hand to open its settings, where you can toggle abilities and assign hotkeys.[7][18][20]
After Blazegold, the goo path continues with VoidShimmer Goo for Celestigem and Shadowpulse Goo for Eclipse Alloy. That's a job for later, once your Ferricore and Blazegold setup is running.[7][9][10]
How does Just Dire Things work?
8 parts
Most machines in the mod come in two flavours, simple and advanced. Simple ones need no power and generally only affect the block or entity directly in front of them, and you control how fast they run with the Speed(ticks) button. Advanced ones need power, usually cover a big area you set in the UI, have filters, and automatically charge any Forge Energy items you put inside them.[16]
Simple machine controls
The redstone button decides when a machine runs. By default redstone is ignored, so it always runs. Low means it only runs when it is not getting a signal, and High means it only runs while it is. Pulse does a single operation per redstone pulse: one block for a simple machine, but possibly every block in the area for an advanced one.[21]
Speed(ticks) is how often the machine acts while active. The default is 20, so once per second. You can go down to 1, which means every tick, but only do that when you really need to because it can add lag. The pack keeps the global minimum at 1 in general.minimum_machine_tick_speed.[21][22]
Advanced machine controls
Advanced machines can affect a large area. Click Render area to see it in the world. The RAD button changes the radius, and the OFF button moves the centre of the area with an offset. Try them with Render area on so you can see what you are doing.[23]
Most advanced machines also have a row of filter slots for items, blocks or entities. Drag from JEI or click a slot with a stack in your hand. For entities, use a spawn egg or a Creature Catcher. A toggle switches between allow mode (only listed things are affected) and deny mode (everything except the listed things). Compare NBT makes filters stricter, for example matching enchantments or a sheep colour.[23]
Power generation
The Simple Coal Generator burns any furnace fuel, and the specialised coal tiers (Primal Coal, Blaze Ember, Voidflame Coal, Eclipse Ember) raise both the FE per tick and the total FE you get. In this pack it outputs 1,000 FE per tick into a 1,000,000 FE buffer, with a burn speed multiplier of 4 and 15 FE per burn tick. For reference, coal has 1,600 burn ticks.[22][25]
The Simple Fuel Generator is the next step and uses refined fuels, which come in 3 tiers. In this pack it outputs 5,000 FE per tick into a 5,000,000 FE buffer. Each mB of fuel gives 450 FE for Tier 2 (Blaze Ember), 1,300 FE for Tier 3 (Voidflame) and 4,000 FE for Tier 4 (Eclipse Ember).[22][26]
The Pocket Generator is the portable option. Open it, add coal or this mod's upgraded coals (or a Fuel Canister), and higher tier fuels give more FE per tick. In this pack it charges other items at 5,000 FE per tick and holds 1,000,000 FE. It is the recommended way to keep powered armor topped up: Celestigem armor holds 10,000 FE per piece and Eclipse Alloy armor holds 500,000 FE.[12][13][14][22]
Moving power around
The Energy Transmitter sends power wirelessly. Connect it to a generator so its buffer fills, set an area of effect, and any Forge Energy receiver inside the area gets filled. You can filter which machines receive power. Wireless transfer has a small loss, which is intentional. In this pack the loss is 1 percent per block of distance, the buffer is 1,000,000 FE and it sends up to 1,000 FE per tick to machines and other transmitters. Two transmitters in range keep each other balanced, and that balancing has no loss.[22][27]
Fuel Canister
The Fuel Canister stores fuel in bulk. Right click to open the UI and shift click fuel in. Almost any fuel works, but not lava buckets. Put the canister into a furnace or generator and it burns fuel from the canister, so you do not waste a whole piece of coal on one ore. In this pack it holds up to 10,000,000 ticks of fuel, and each furnace operation consumes 200 ticks.[22][28]
Fuel from this mod also carries its fuel multiplier into the canister, averaged with what is already inside. The tooltip shows the multiplier you will get in a Pocket Generator or Generator. The pack changed the crafting recipe for the canister:[17][28]

Items, blocks and fluids
- Block Breaker: the simple version breaks the block it faces and needs a tool, which takes damage (or uses power) like a player using it. The advanced version breaks a larger area and can filter by block or by item drop, plus a direction button that matters for tools with a hammer ability.[29][30]
- Block Placer: places the block in its inventory in front of it when powered, with a direction button for things like torches. The advanced version filters which blocks it may place on, respecting the direction setting.[31][32]
- Clicker: simulates right click, left click or hold click, with an optional item, a sneak toggle and targets such as blocks, air, hostile, passive, adult, child, player or all living. The advanced version covers an area with filters, handy for mob farms or animal breeders.[33][34]
- Dropper: drops items in a chosen direction with a set stack size and pickup delay. The advanced version has a 3x3 item grid and drops items in the order of its filter slots. It cannot change radius, only offset.[35][36]
- Item Collector: works like an advanced machine and vacuums item entities in its area into the inventory it is attached to. You can filter it and raise its pickup speed.[37]
- Swapper: pair two swappers by right clicking one and then the other with a Ferricore Wrench. They swap blocks (including chests and other block entities) and/or entities between the two spots. On the advanced version the radius setting copies to its partner.[38][39]
- Sensors: emit a redstone signal when their conditions are met. The advanced sensor counts matches in its area, so you can trigger on fewer than a set number of adult cows, for example. Right click a block filter to match a specific blockstate.[40][41]
- Fluid Collector and Placer: the collector holds 1 fluid at a time and can fill a bucket or Fluid Canister. The placer needs more than 1,000mb in its tank and an empty space in front before it places a fluid. Advanced versions work over larger areas with filters.[42][43][44][45]
- Experience Holder: stores levels and can top a nearby player up to a target level. It can also collect XP orbs. It doubles as a tank at 20mb of XP Fluid per experience point, and keeps its XP when broken.[46]
- Inventory Holder: a chest-like block with a player-style inventory. Control-click an item to save a filter for that slot, and use the buttons for Filtered Items Only and Compare Stack Sizes to control what pipes and hoppers can insert or extract.[47]
- Player Accessor: lets hoppers or pipes insert into or extract from a player's inventory, with each side set to certain slots. Dimension blacklisting is off in this pack, and the validation time is 100.[22][48]
The pack changed the Simple Block Breaker recipe, so check this one rather than relying on the mod's default:[17]

Goo
Goo transforms blocks placed next to it. Craft a goo block, place it, feed it the resource it shows it wants to activate it, then put an eligible block beside it. After a transformation there is a chance the goo needs reactivating by feeding it another item. While inactive it cannot start new transformations, but ones already running still finish. Higher tier goo can do everything lower tiers can, and does it faster.[5]
The pack leaves goo death enabled with a 10% chance per finished craft. The tiers are Primogel (Iron into Ferricore), Blazebloom (Gold into Blazegold), VoidShimmer (Diamonds into Celestigem) and Shadowpulse (Netherite into Eclipse Alloy). You start with Primogel Goo.[6][8][9][10][22]
Time and the Paradox
The Time Wand speeds up any ticking block, such as a furnace or crops. Each right click doubles the speed (2x, 4x, 8x and so on) up to 256x in this pack, and the boost lasts 30 seconds. You need to charge the wand with both Forge Energy and Time Fluid. Each step costs 100 FE and 0.5 Time Fluid multiplied by the acceleration amount. The wand holds 100,000 FE, and fake players such as clickers cannot use it.[22][49]
The Paradox Machine snapshots an area so you can bring things back later. Set an area of effect, place raw ore blocks (only raw ores) or entities in it, and click snapshot. After clearing the area, power the machine and it restores them, though restored entities may not be exactly identical. A button toggles entities only, blocks only, or both.[50]
Restoring is expensive. In this pack each block or entity costs 250,000 FE and 50mb of Time Fluid, and the machine holds up to 10,000,000 FE and 16,000mb of Time Fluid. Each restored block or entity adds 0.25 Paradox Energy, and at 100 the machine spawns a Paradox.[22]
The Paradox consumes blocks, items and entities in its area for good, and it grows faster the more it consumes, up to a limit. Tossing a Time Crystal into it seals it shut. In this pack Time Crystal has a centrifuge recipe from Productive Bees that the pack changed:[17][51]

How do you progress through Just Dire Things?
5 parts
Progression here runs on goo. Each of the four goo tiers unlocks a new material, and each material gives you a new set of tools, armor and machines. The quest chapter follows the same order, so you can use it as your checklist. Higher tier goo can craft everything a lower tier can, and it works much faster.[5][7]
The basic loop is simple. Craft a goo block and place it in the world. Feed it the resource it asks for, then put an eligible block next to it. After a transformation there is a 10% chance the goo needs feeding again. While it is inactive it can't start new transformations, but anything already in progress still finishes.[5]
Tier 1: Primogel Goo and Ferricore
Primogel Goo is the first goo and only needs basic Overworld materials. It unlocks Ferricore and Primal Coal (a quest in "Just Dire Things"). Goo Spread on Iron Blocks with tier one goo or higher gives you Raw Ferricore, and Goo Spread on Coal Blocks gives you Primal Coal. Both ores are affected by fortune ("Ferricore" quest).[6][7]
Ferricore opens up the simple machines, such as the Simple Clicker, Simple Dropper and Ferricore Coal Generator. It also gives you the Ferricore Wrench, which rotates machines and links swappers. Simple machines don't need power and generally only affect the block or entity directly in front of them.[7][16]
The pack changed the recipes of the simple and advanced machines, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults. Here is the Simple Block Breaker as the pack has it:[17]
Crafting Shaped
| any diamond gem | ||

Tier 2: Blazebloom Goo and Blazegold
Blazebloom Goo needs Nether materials and unlocks Blazegold and Blaze Ember (a quest in "Just Dire Things"). Goo Spread on Gold Blocks with tier two goo or higher gives you Raw Blazegold. Goo Spread on Primal Coal Blocks gives you Blaze Ember.[7][8]
Blazegold gear has the intrinsic Lava Repair ability. Drop the tool or armor into a lava source block and it gets repaired, but the source block turns into obsidian ("Blazegold" quest). The Blazegold quests also lead to the Blazejet Wand, Portal Gun, Creature Catcher, Totem of Death Recall and Player Accessor.[7]
The Simple Swapper sits behind Blazegold in the quests. In this pack its recipe was changed too:[7][17]
Crafting Shaped
| any lapi gems | any lapi gems | |

Recipe id: justdirethings:blockswappert1
Tier 3: VoidShimmer Goo and Celestigem
VoidShimmer Goo uses End materials and unlocks Celestigem and Void Flame (a quest in "Just Dire Things"). Goo Spread on Diamond Blocks with tier three goo or higher gives you Celestigem (a quest in "Just Dire Things"). Voidflame Coal comes from Goo Spread on Blaze Ember Blocks with tier three goo or higher.[7][9]
Celestigem is also the step up to the advanced machines. The Advanced Clicker, Advanced Dropper and Advanced Block Breaker quests all follow it. Advanced machines need power, cover a configurable area and have filters.[7][16]
The Celestigem Paxel is made from the Celestigem axe, pickaxe and shovel, and it can take the Drops Teleporter upgrade. Tier three goo or higher is also what turns Unstable Portal Fluid into Portal Fluid, which the Advanced Portal Gun needs.[7][17][52]
Tier 4: Shadowpulse Goo, Eclipse Alloy and Time Crystals
Shadowpulse Goo is the final goo and needs Ancient City and Warden materials. It unlocks Eclipse Alloy, Eclipse Ember and Time Crystal (a quest in "Just Dire Things"). Goo Spread on Netherite Blocks with tier four goo gives you Raw Eclipse Alloy ("Eclipse Alloy" quest). Goo Spread on Voidflame Coal Blocks with tier four goo gives you Eclipse Ember.[7][10]
Time Crystal grows on Budding Time Crystal Blocks. The block has to collect time from the Overworld, the Nether and the End before it can grow clusters. You can't break it or silk-touch it, so move it with a Swapper, Cardboard Box or Cut Paste Gadget. Dropping a Time Crystal into Polymorphic Fluid makes Time Fluid Bucket, which the Paradox Machine uses (a quest in "Just Dire Things", a quest in "Just Dire Things").[7]
The Chapter 4 ATM Star path in the pack also asks for the Eclipse Ember Block and the Paradox Machine.[53]
Moving your gear up a tier
Each material has its own tools and armor, and you can upgrade them tier by tier in a smithing table with a template. The pack's recipes chain Ferricore into Blazegold, then Celestigem, then Eclipse Alloy. Upgrading this way keeps your installed upgrades, and the Eclipse Alloy template quest says enchantments are kept as well.[7][11][17][18]
Smithing Transform
Recipe id: justdirethings:celestigem_pickaxe-templateupgrade
Smithing Transform
Recipe id: justdirethings:bow_eclipsealloy-templateupgrade
Abilities come from upgrade items, and the quest book calls Upgrade: Blank the base of all abilities. Passive abilities work on their own. Active abilities only fire from a keybind you set, and they use durability or power. On higher tier gear, active abilities have shorter cooldowns and passive ones are stronger. Hold shift over a tool or armor piece to see which upgrades it accepts. The quests list Ore Scanner as DISABLED in this pack.[7][18]
How does Just Dire Things work with other mods?
5 parts
Just Dire Things is wired into a surprising number of other mods in this pack. Most of the links come from pack-edited recipes, and a few are endgame crafts where its items act as gateway pieces.[17]
Productive Bees
This is the friendliest link. The pack changed the Productive Bees conversion recipes so each tier of goo from Just Dire Things turns into one of the mod-specific bees. The mapping is below.[17]
- Primogel Goo converts into the Ferricore bee.[17]
- Blazebloom Goo converts into the Blazegold bee.[17]
- VoidShimmer Goo converts into the Celestigem bee.[17]
- Shadowpulse Goo converts into the Eclipse Alloy bee.[17]
The pack also changed the centrifuge recipes for the matching honeycombs. They give you Raw Ferricore, Raw Blazegold, Celestigem and Raw Eclipse Alloy, each alongside Wax. So a bee setup can supply the mod's materials without Goo Spread.[17]
Time is handled the same way. This centrifuge recipe turns the time fluid source into Time Crystal plus wax.[17]
Centrifuge (productivebees)
Recipe id: productivebees:centrifuge/justdirethings/honeycomb_time_crystal
The pack also changed the recipe for the Time Bee spawn egg, which uses Time Crystal Block and Time Fluid Bucket items from this mod.[17]

Draconic Evolution and the Allthemodium paxel
The pack adds a Draconic Evolution fusion crafting recipe for the Allthemodium Alloy Paxel. It takes the other Allthemodium alloy tools together with the Celestigem Paxel, so your Just Dire Things progress carries straight into Allthemodium gear.[17]

Patchouli guide book
The pack changed a shapeless recipe so that the Guide Book is made from Primogel Goo and a vanilla book.[17]
Integrated Dynamics
Unverified The pack adds Integrated Dynamics drying basin and mechanical drying basin recipes that involve Block of Experience (from Create) and the Just Dire Things XP fluid source. The recipe dump doesn't show what they output or which direction they convert, so what they do is unconfirmed.
Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Just Dire Things?
5 parts
The quests for this mod mostly live in the Just Dire Things chapter. A few late quests also appear in Chapter 4: The ATM Star. The quest text lays out a ladder of four goo tiers, and each tier is described as unlocking the next metal, coal and set of gear.[7][53]
The goo ladder
Follow these quests in order. In the quest book, each goo quest comes after the one before it.[7]
- a quest in "Just Dire Things" asks for Primogel Goo. The quest text calls it the first goo tier, crafted from basic Overworld materials, and lists Ferricore and Primal Coal as the crafts it unlocks.[7]
- a quest in "Just Dire Things" asks for Blazebloom Goo. The quest text says it needs Nether materials and lists Blazegold and Blaze Ember as the crafts it unlocks.[7]
- a quest in "Just Dire Things" asks for VoidShimmer Goo. The quest text says it needs End materials and lists Celestigem and Void Flame as the crafts it unlocks.[7]
- a quest in "Just Dire Things" asks for Shadowpulse Goo. The quest text calls it the fourth and final tier, made with Ancient City and Warden materials, and lists Eclipse Alloy, Eclipse Ember and Time Crystal as the crafts it unlocks.[7]
Metals and coals
The material quests follow their goo tiers, and each quest text names Goo Spread as how you get the material.[7]
- "Ferricore" quest (Ferricore) asks for Raw Ferricore and Ferricore Ingot. The quest text says you get Ferricore by performing Goo Spread on Iron Blocks with tier one goo or higher.[7]
- a quest in "Just Dire Things" asks for Primal Coal. The quest text says it comes from Goo Spread on Coal Blocks.[7]
- "Blazegold" quest (Blazegold) asks for Raw Blazegold and Blazegold Ingot. The quest text says you get it by Goo Spread on Gold Blocks with tier two goo or higher, and that Blazegold gives tools and armor Lava Repair.[7]
- a quest in "Just Dire Things" asks for Blaze Ember. In the quest book it comes after both the tier two goo quest and the Primal Coal quest.[7]
- a quest in "Just Dire Things" asks for Celestigem. The quest text says it comes from Goo Spread on Diamond Blocks with tier three goo or higher.[7]
- a quest in "Just Dire Things" asks for Voidflame Coal. The quest text says it comes from Goo Spread on Blaze Ember Blocks.[7]
- "Eclipse Alloy" quest (Eclipse Alloy) asks for Raw Eclipse Alloy and Eclipse Alloy Ingot. The quest text says it comes from Goo Spread on Netherite Blocks with tier four goo.[7]
- a quest in "Just Dire Things" asks for Eclipse Ember. In the quest book it comes after the tier four goo quest and the Voidflame Coal quest.[7]
Fluids
a quest in "Just Dire Things" asks for the Polymorphic Fluid Bucket. The quest text calls Polymorphic Fluid the base of all fluids and fuels in the mod. Two more fluid quests come after it: a quest in "Just Dire Things" for the Portal Fluid Bucket, and a quest in "Just Dire Things" for the Blaze Ember Fuel Bucket.[7]
Machines, tools and armor
In the quest book, several simple machine quests come after Ferricore. They include Simple Block Breaker in a quest in "Just Dire Things", Simple Block Placer in a quest in "Just Dire Things", Simple Clicker in a quest in "Just Dire Things" and Simple Dropper in a quest in "Just Dire Things". The Ferricore tool and armor quests also follow it. The advanced Clicker, Dropper and Block Breaker quests (a quest in "Just Dire Things", a quest in "Just Dire Things" and a quest in "Just Dire Things") come after the Celestigem quest.[7]
Each tool or armor quest text lists the upgrades it accepts. For example, a quest in "Just Dire Things" for the Ferricore Pickaxe lists Ore Miner and Ore Scanner, with Ore Scanner marked DISABLED. a quest in "Just Dire Things" for the Blazegold Pickaxe adds Auto Smelter and Hammer. The Celestigem quests continue the pattern, including a quest in "Just Dire Things" for the Celestigem Paxel.[7]
a quest in "Just Dire Things" asks for Upgrade: Blank. The quest text says the blank upgrade is the base of all abilities, that upgrades are applied at a smithing table, and that holding shift over a JDT tool or armor piece shows its valid upgrades. The individual upgrade quests each describe an ability as active or passive. For example, a quest in "Just Dire Things" for Upgrade: Debuff Remover is an active ability with a cooldown. Some active upgrades are described as temporary effects: a quest in "Just Dire Things" for Upgrade: Invulnerability temporarily makes the player immune to damage when activated, and a quest in "Just Dire Things" for Upgrade: Stupefy temporarily makes nearby hostile mobs lose aggro. Both have a cooldown.[7]
The template quests cover gear tier upgrades. a quest in "Just Dire Things" covers Template: Blazegold, a quest in "Just Dire Things" covers Template: Celestigem and a quest in "Just Dire Things" covers Template: Eclipse Alloy. The quest texts say each one upgrades the previous tier of gear while retaining enchantments and installed upgrades.[7]
Endgame: time and the ATM Star
After the tier four goo, a quest in "Just Dire Things" asks for the Time Crystal. The quest text warns that you cannot break or silk touch a Budding Time Crystal Block and must move it with a Swapper, Cardboard Box or Cut Paste Gadget. a quest in "Just Dire Things" then asks for the Time Fluid Bucket. Both come before a quest in "Just Dire Things" for the Paradox Machine.[7]
Chapter 4: The ATM Star then asks for these items again. a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star" asks for the Eclipse Ember Block and follows the Eclipse Ember quest. a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star" asks for the Paradox Machine again and follows the Paradox Machine quest.[53]
Which Just Dire Things config options matter?
5 parts
Everything for Just Dire Things lives in one file, config/justdirethings-common.toml. Every numeric value in this pack that lists a mod default matches that default, so the pack didn't retune those numbers and you get the stock Just Dire Things balance. A few options show no default in the file, and I flag those where they come up.[22]
Tool ability block limits
These cap how many blocks a tool can break in one go with abilities like ore miner or tree feller. Each can be set from 1 to 2,048, and the pack uses the mod defaults.[22]
- Ferricore: 64 blocks (abilities.tool_max_break_ferricore).[22]
- Blazegold: 128 blocks (abilities.tool_max_break_blazegold).[22]
- Celestigem: 192 blocks (abilities.tool_max_break_celestigem).[22]
- Eclipse Alloy: 256 blocks (abilities.tool_max_break_eclipsealloy).[22]
Every ability toggle in the abilities section, such as abilities.flight, abilities.instabreak and abilities.treefeller, is set to true, so all abilities are enabled.[22]
Generators
- Basic generator output: 1,000 FE per tick (generator_t1.generator_t1_fe_per_tick).[22]
- Basic generator buffer: 1,000,000 FE (generator_t1.generator_t1_max_fe).[22]
- Basic generator makes 15 FE per burn tick of fuel (generator_t1.generator_t1_fe_per_fuel_tick).[22]
- Basic generator burn speed multiplier is 4 (generator_t1.generator_t1_burn_speed_multiplier), so fuel burns faster than normal.[22]
- Fluid generator output: 5,000 FE per tick (generator_fluid_t1.generator_fluid_t1_fe_per_tick).[22]
- Fluid generator buffer: 5,000,000 FE (generator_fluid_t1.generator_fluid_t1_max_fe).[22]
- Tier 2 fuel (Blaze Ember) gives 450 FE per mB (generator_fluid_t1.fuel_tier2_fe_per_mb).[22]
- Tier 3 fuel (Voidflame) gives 1,300 FE per mB (generator_fluid_t1.fuel_tier3_fe_per_mb).[22]
- Tier 4 fuel (Eclipse Ember) gives 4,000 FE per mB (generator_fluid_t1.fuel_tier4_fe_per_mb).[22]
- Pocket generator charges other items at 5,000 FE per tick (pocket_generator.pocket_gen_fe_per_tick).[22]
- Pocket generator buffer: 1,000,000 FE (pocket_generator.pocket_gen_max_fe).[22]
- Pocket generator makes 15 FE per burn tick of fuel (pocket_generator.pocket_gen_fe_per_fuel_tick).[22]
- Pocket generator burn speed multiplier is 4 (pocket_generator.pocket_gen_burn_speed_multiplier).[22]
Time Wand
- The wand holds 100,000 FE (time_wand.time_wand_rf_capacity).[22]
- Each use costs 100 FE, multiplied by the acceleration amount (time_wand.time_wand_rf_cost).[22]
- Each use also costs 0.5 Time Fluid, multiplied by the acceleration amount (time_wand.time_wand_fluid_cost).[22]
- The maximum speed multiplier is 256, and the config says it should be a power of two (time_wand.time_wand_max_multiplier).[22]
- Fake players, like the ones in clickers, can't use the wand, because time_wand.time_wand_fake_player_allowed is false.[22]
Paradox Machine
- Restoring one block costs 250,000 FE, multiplied by the number of blocks (paradox_machine.paradox_rf_per_block).[22]
- Restoring one entity costs 250,000 FE, multiplied by the number of entities (paradox_machine.paradox_rf_per_entity).[22]
- Restoring one block costs 50 mB of Time Fluid (paradox_machine.paradox_fluid_per_block).[22]
- Restoring one entity costs 50 mB of Time Fluid (paradox_machine.paradox_fluid_per_entity).[22]
- The energy buffer holds 10,000,000 FE (paradox_machine.paradox_rf_capacity).[22]
- The Time Fluid buffer holds 16,000 mB (paradox_machine.paradox_fluid_capacity).[22]
- Paradox Energy builds up until it reaches 100, and then the machine spawns a Paradox (paradox_machine.paradox_energy_max).[22]
Other options worth knowing
- Goo can randomly die when it finishes crafting, because goo.goo_can_die is true. A dead goo block needs reviving by right-clicking it with an item.[22]
- The chance of that happening is 0.1, which is 10% (goo.goo_death_chance). Setting it to 1.0 would make it die every time.[22]
- The Tier 1 energy transmitter sends up to 1,000 RF per tick to machines and other transmitters (energy_transmitter_t1.energy_transmitter_t1_rf_per_tick).[22]
- The Tier 1 energy transmitter stores up to 1,000,000 RF (energy_transmitter_t1.energy_transmitter_t1_max_rf).[22]
- The Tier 1 energy transmitter loses 1 percent of energy per block of distance (energy_transmitter_t1.energy_transmitter_t1_loss_per_block).[22]
- Player Accessor dimension blacklisting is off (player_accessor.player_accessor_dimensional_blacklisting is false), and the blacklist list is empty.[22]
- Time Crystal custom growth dimensions are off (time_crystal.time_crystal_custom_dimensions is false), so normal growth rules apply: Overworld (or any dimension other than the Nether or End) for Stage 1, Nether for Stage 2, End for Stage 3.[22]
