What is Just Tiered Generators?

This pack includes Just Tiered Generators at version 1.4-21.1, shipped as the file justtieredgens-1.4-21.1.jar.[1]

The sources I have for this pack only confirm the mod and its version. They do not describe what its generators do, how they are crafted, or how they are configured, so I am leaving those details out rather than guessing. This page will grow as that information becomes available.[1]

How do you get started with Just Tiered Generators?

4 parts

Just Tiered Generators adds higher-tier versions of the generators from Just Dire Things. In this pack every new generator is an upgrade of the tier below it, so you work up a ladder one step at a time. You can't skip a rung.[2]

Start with the Just Dire Things generators

The bottom of each ladder comes from Just Dire Things: the Ferricore Coal Generator for solid fuel, the Ferricore Fuel Generator for fluid fuel, and the Pocket Ferricore Generator for the portable line. Make the one you want first, because the first upgrade in each line is built from it. The recipes for those base generators are not in the sources here, so check them in JEI.[2]

The upgrade recipes also use Just Dire Things materials, so how far you've got in that mod decides how fast you can climb.[2]

Solid fuel line

Your first upgrade is the Blazegold Coal Generator. Here is the in-pack recipe:[2]

Upgrades the Ferricore Coal Generator to the first tier of this mod.

Next comes the Celestigem Coal Generator, which is built from the Blazegold one.[2]

The top of the line is the Eclipse Alloy Coal Generator, built from the Celestigem one.[2]

Fluid fuel line

Fluid generators follow the same pattern, starting from the Ferricore fluid generator. The first step is the Blazegold Fuel Generator.[2]

After that you build the Celestigem Fuel Generator, then the Eclipse Alloy Fuel Generator.[2]

Pocket generators

The portable line is upgraded with smithing recipes instead of normal crafting. You start by turning a Pocket Ferricore Generator into a Pocket Blazegold Generator.[2]

Then you smith that into the Pocket Celestigem Generator, and finally into the Pocket Eclipse Alloy Generator.[2]

Tip: Open JEI to see what each generator burns. The mod adds fuel pages such as Blazegold Solid Fuels, Blazegold Fluid Fuels and Pocket Blazegold Fuels, with matching pages for every other tier. The fluid pages show the total FE produced every bucket.[3]

How does Just Tiered Generators work?

6 parts

Just Tiered Generators adds higher tiers of the generators from Just Dire Things. There are no separate multiblocks to build: each generator is a single block (or, for the pocket versions, an item). The sources here don't include an in-mod guidebook or config files for this mod, so this section covers the structure of the generator lines and how they upgrade into each other.[3][4][5][6]

Three generator families

The mod sorts its generators into three families, and its own tags group each family together with the matching Just Dire Things base generator. That base generator is the Ferricore one, which is the bottom tier of every line.[2][4][5][6]

The tier order, from lowest to highest, is Ferricore, Blazegold, Celestigem, then Eclipse Alloy. The mod's JEI categories exist for every one of those tiers, so you can look up what each generator accepts as fuel in game.[2][3]

Tip: Open JEI and look at the fuel categories for the generator you own. The mod adds a "Total FE produced every bucket" line to the fluid categories, which makes it easy to compare fluids. The exact FE figures are not in the sources used for this guide, so check them in game.[3]

Upgrading the machine generators

Each machine generator is crafted from the generator one tier below it, in both the solid and the fluid line. So you never skip a tier: Blazegold builds on the Ferricore generator from Just Dire Things, Celestigem builds on Blazegold, and Eclipse Alloy builds on Celestigem.[2]

Upgrading the pocket generators

The pocket generators follow the same ladder, but they are upgraded with smithing transform recipes instead of crafting table recipes. You start from the Pocket Ferricore Generator and smith your way up one tier at a time.[2]

Breaking and moving them

Every machine generator in the mod has a block loot table that drops the generator block itself. The drop has a single roll and is conditioned on the block surviving an explosion, so you can pick a generator up and move it, but keep it away from explosions.[9][10][11][12][13][14]

How do you progress through Just Tiered Generators?

4 parts

Just Tiered Generators builds on the generators from Just Dire Things and adds three higher tiers above the Ferricore ones: Blazegold, Celestigem and Eclipse Alloy. Each tier comes in a coal (solid fuel) version and a fuel (fluid) version. There is also a pocket version of each tier.[2][4][5][6][7][8]

The mod's own tier tags group each line together, with the Ferricore generator as the starting point of the line. That is the same chain you follow when you craft.[4][5][6][7][8]

How the upgrade chain works

Every tier is crafted from the generator one step below it, so you climb in order: Ferricore, then Blazegold, then Celestigem, then Eclipse Alloy. You can't skip a step, because each recipe uses the previous tier's generator of the same type.[2]

Coal generators

The coal line starts from the Ferricore Coal Generator and goes up through Blazegold Coal Generator, Celestigem Coal Generator and Eclipse Alloy Coal Generator. These recipes use the Just Dire Things coal tiers that match each step.[2][5][7]

Fuel generators

The fluid line works the same way. It starts from the Ferricore Fuel Generator and goes up through Blazegold Fuel Generator, Celestigem Fuel Generator and Eclipse Alloy Fuel Generator. Each step also needs a Just Dire Things fluid bucket, so you will be working with that mod's fluids as you go up.[2][4][8]

Pocket generators

The pocket line starts from the Pocket Ferricore Generator and goes up through Pocket Blazegold Generator, Pocket Celestigem Generator and Pocket Eclipse Alloy Generator. These are not crafted at a crafting table. Each one is a smithing upgrade that uses the matching tier's template and block from Just Dire Things.[2][6]

Tip: Plan ahead before you start. Every tier needs the Just Dire Things materials for that step, so your Blazegold, Celestigem and Eclipse Alloy supply decides how fast you can climb.[2]

How does Just Tiered Generators work with other mods?

3 parts

Just Tiered Generators is built directly on top of Just Dire Things. Every generator it adds is an upgrade of a Just Dire Things generator, and the recipes below show each step. The tiers start from the Ferricore Coal Generator, the Ferricore Fuel Generator or the Pocket Ferricore Generator, so the two mods share one progression.[2]

The mod's own tag files confirm this link. Its solid-fuel tag groups the Just Dire Things Ferricore Coal Generator with the three coal generators from this mod. The fluid-fuel tag does the same for Ferricore Fuel Generator and the three fuel generators, and the pocket tag groups the Pocket Ferricore Generator with the three pocket generators.[2][4][6][7][8]

Coal generator line

The coal line runs Blazegold, then Celestigem, then Eclipse Alloy. The first step takes the Just Dire Things Ferricore Coal Generator, and each later step takes the previous tier's generator. Along the way the recipes use Just Dire Things metals and gems and its three coal grades.[2]

Fuel generator line

The fluid line follows the same pattern, starting from the Just Dire Things Ferricore Fuel Generator. Each step also needs a bucket of one of Just Dire Things' fluids: the Polymorphic Fluid Bucket, then the Portal Fluid Bucket, then the Time Fluid Bucket.[2]

Pocket generators

The pocket generators are upgraded at a smithing table instead of a crafting grid. The first upgrade starts from the Just Dire Things Pocket Ferricore Generator and uses a Just Dire Things template plus a block of the matching material. The next two upgrades repeat this with the previous pocket generator.[2]

Tip: Because every tier is built from the one before it, get the Just Dire Things base generator working first. Then work up the line one upgrade at a time.[2]
