What is Silent's Gems?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Silent's Gems is the mod for colorful gemstones and building blocks. It adds 16 gemstones, and you can craft them into gem blocks, bricks, small bricks, polished, chiseled and smooth gem stones, glass and lamps. The pack includes version 5.1.3.[1][2]

If you love building, this one is for you. It gives you a lot of new colors to work with, and the gems can also become tools and armor when Silent Gear is installed. Silent Gear is what you need for gem tools and armor, and Silent Lib is required for the mod itself.[1]

Where the gems come from

The gems are spread across the three vanilla dimensions and overlap a bit, so some Nether and End gems can occasionally turn up in the overworld. The mod lets you configure which gems generate in which dimension and how often, and you can even disable specific gems. I can't confirm from the sources whether the pack changes any of those defaults.[1]

Black Diamonds spawn somewhat low in the Nether and less often than other gems, so you should find plenty while digging for ancient debris. White Diamonds spawn somewhat low in the End, so you'll need to dig around. Both are strong in all stats but much harder to find.[1]

Gem roles

If you use the gems for Silent Gear tools and armor, each gem fits a role. Gems are usually stronger in their role's stats, and every gem still has unique traits.[1]

  • Durability: Ruby and Carnelian. They are good for repairs and area-of-effect harvest tools like the hammer and excavator.[1]
  • Speed: Topaz, Citrine and Heliodor. They are good for harvest tools.[1]
  • Damage: Peridot, Moldavite and Rose Quartz. They are good for weapons like swords and bows.[1]
  • Armor: Sapphire, Iolite and Ammolite.[1]
  • All-Rounder: Turquoise, Kyanite, Alexandrite and Black/White Diamond. They are above average in most stats.[1]

Handy extras

  • Gem Bag: collects and stores gems as you mine them, which frees up your inventory. It doesn't apply to ores.[1]
  • Glowrose: a light-emitting flower that spawns naturally. Its light is enough to prevent mob spawns just two blocks away (configurable), and potted glowroses give off much more light than freestanding ones.[1]
  • Flower Basket: works like the Gem Bag, but collects flowers you mine.[1]
  • Summon Kitty and Summon Puppy: spawn a tamed cat or dog, which you can name in an anvil.[1]
Tip: A hammer and prospector hammer from Silent Gear make hunting for the rarer diamond variants much easier.[1]

Unverified The sources I have don't show where Silent's Gems fits in the pack's progression, and no quests involving it were found. Whether Silent Gear is also in the pack, which you need for gem tools and armor, is not confirmed here either.

How do you get started with Silent's Gems?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Silent's Gems adds 16 gemstones and a big set of colorful building blocks made from them. Silent Lib is required for the mod to run. Silent Gear is only needed if you want gem tools and armor, so this section sticks to the gems and blocks.[1]

First, find some gems

Everything starts with mining gem ore. The 16 gems are split across the three vanilla dimensions, and some Nether and End gems can occasionally show up in the Overworld. The mod page says the generation can be configured, but the page describes the mod's own behavior and does not tell you what this pack uses.[1]

The two diamond variants are the hard ones. Black Diamonds spawn somewhat low in the Nether and less often than other gems, so you should find plenty while digging for ancient debris. White Diamonds spawn somewhat low in the End, so you will need to dig around. A hammer and a prospector hammer from Silent Gear make the hunt much easier.[1]

Gem Bags collect gems as you mine them (not the ores themselves), which frees up your inventory for more mining.[1]

Next, make your first building blocks

Once you have a few gems, compress them into blocks for storage and building. Alexandrite is the example here, and every other gem I checked in the recipe list follows the same pattern. Blocks can be turned back into gems, so nothing is locked in.[3]

Glass and lamps are the next quick wins. Each gem has its own glass recipe and lamp recipe, and each lamp has an inverted version too.[3]

For more variety, each gem also has bricks, small bricks, tiles and a chiseled version, all crafted from the gem plus a vanilla block.[3]

Then, light your base with glowroses

Glowroses are light-emitting flowers that spawn naturally in the world. According to the mod's description, their light is enough to prevent mob spawns just two blocks away, and that distance is configurable. Planting one in a vanilla flower pot gives much more light than a freestanding one. Sparkling Bone Meal grows glowroses when used on grass.[1][4]

Later, aim for teleporters

Each gem has a teleporter recipe that uses a Block of Chaos Essence, so treat teleporters as a later goal. You can compress Chaos Essence into that block with the first recipe below, and the second shows an Alexandrite teleporter.[3]

How does Silent's Gems work?

4 parts

Silent's Gems is not a tech mod. Its own description centres on gemstones and building blocks, so there are no machines, multiblocks, power or fluid pipes to learn here. The mechanics that matter are the teleporter blocks, the lamps, the storage bags and how you turn ores into gems in this pack.[1]

Teleporters

Each gem has its own teleporter block, plus a redstone teleporter variant. The mod's text also includes a Teleporter Anchor block and a Teleporter Linker item. Here is the Alexandrite teleporter recipe, which makes 2 per craft.[5][6]

Getting gems in this pack

Silent's Gems adds 16 gemstones, and the ores are spread across the Overworld, the Nether and the End. In this pack, the Create crushing recipes for the gem ores have been changed. Crushing 2 Alexandrite ores gives 3 Alexandrite, and the Ammolite recipe has the same yield.[1][6]

You can also smelt Alexandrite ore into a gem with the mod's own blasting recipe. The pack adds smelting and blasting recipes that turn Alexandrite dust from Neovitae into the gem.[6]

Bags and flowers

The Gem Bag collects and stores gems as you mine them, which frees up your inventory. It does not collect ores. The Flower Basket works the same way, but it collects flowers when you mine them.[1]

Glowroses are light-emitting flowers that spawn naturally. Their light can stop mob spawns just two blocks away, and the mod page says this distance is configurable. Planting one in a vanilla flower pot makes it give off much more light than a freestanding one.[1]

Tip: The mod page says Silent Gear is needed if you want gem tools or armor. A Silent Gear hammer and prospector hammer make hunting for the rarer Black Diamonds and White Diamonds much easier.[1]

Unverified The sources do not explain how the Teleporter Anchor and Teleporter Linker work, or the teleporter range and cooldown, so those details are unverified. This pack's ore generation settings are also unverified, because no config files for the mod were available.

How do you progress through Silent's Gems?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

The recipes the sources confirm for Silent's Gems in this pack are about gems, storage blocks, building blocks and teleporters. The gems I can see follow the same crafting pattern, so once you learn it for one gem you know it for the rest.[3]

Gem blocks and decoration

Teleporters

The gem teleporters are the most involved recipes the sources confirm. They are crafted using a Block of Chaos Essence, so you need to make that block first from Chaos Essence.[3]

Each teleporter can then be upgraded into a redstone version, as with Garnet Redstone Teleporter. This is a shapeless craft built on the matching teleporter.[3]

Quest path

Unverified The sources here show no quests involving this mod and do not place it on the quest path, so there is no quest-by-quest progression to give you. They also include no in-jar guidebook text, so any tier ordering beyond the recipes above is unconfirmed.

How does Silent's Gems work with other mods?

4 parts

In this pack, Silent's Gems gems are tied into three other mods through recipes, plus a silver link with AllTheOres. Everything below comes from in-pack recipes, and each recipe is marked as added or changed by the pack.[6]

Create: crushing gem ores

Create crushing is the big one. The pack has 78 crushing recipes that take Silent's Gems ores. Each recipe takes 2 ore blocks and gives back 3 gems, a Nugget of Experience and the stone the ore sits in. The pack changed these recipes.[6]

The leftover stone depends on the ore type. Overworld ores like Alexandrite Ore give Cobblestone, deepslate versions like Deepslate Alexandrite Ore give Cobbled Deepslate, and End versions like End Alexandrite Ore give End Stone.[6]

Crushing (create)

Recipe id: create:crushing/compat/silentgems/alexandrite_ore

The pattern for an overworld gem ore: 2 ores in, 3 gems out.

Neo Vitae: gem dusts

Neo Vitae has gem dusts that you can turn into Silent's Gems gems. The pack added both a smelting and a blasting recipe for each dust. Examples are Alexandrite Dust into Alexandrite, and Topaz Dust into Topaz.[6]

AlexandriteAdded by the pack

Smelting

Recipe id: neovitae:materials/smelting_alexandrite_dust

Added by the pack. A blasting recipe does the same job.

Productive Metalworks: gem casting

Productive Metalworks can cast gems from molten metal-style fluids. The recipe needs a Gem Cast and 100 of the matching molten gem fluid, and gives you the gem. The pack changed these recipes. Examples are Citrine, Opal and White Diamond.[6]

AlexandriteChanged by the pack

Item Casting (productivemetalworks)

Recipe id: productivemetalworks:casting/gems/alexandrite

The casting recipe for alexandrite. The other gems follow the same pattern with their own molten fluid.

AllTheOres: silver

Silent's Gems has its own Raw Silver. In this pack, both smelting and blasting turn it into Silver Ingot from AllTheOres. The pack changed these two recipes.[6]

Silver IngotChanged by the pack

Smelting

Recipe id: silentgems:smelting/silver_ingot

Raw Silver from Silent's Gems becomes the AllTheOres Silver Ingot.

What changed in Silent's Gems between versions?

3 parts

All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 ships Silent's Gems 5.1.3, and the mod has been in the pack since version 1.0 or earlier. Below are the notable changes from the mod's own changelogs, newest first.[7]

5.1.3 (2026-01-23)

  • There is now a config option to disable coffee drops. The coffee_producers tag still exists as well.[8]
  • A second config option changes the delay between coffee drops. The mod's own default is 10 minutes.[8]
  • Glowroses can now be composted.[8]
  • Japanese and Ukrainian localizations were added, and the Portuguese one was updated.[8]

5.1.2.1 (2025-09-07)

  • Fixed missing recipes for the new building blocks.[9]
  • Fixed missing tags for chaos essence blocks and silver blocks.[9]

5.1.2 (2025-07-13)

This was the big content update. It requires Silent Gear 4.0.25 or higher.[10]

  • Five new gems: garnet, aquamarine, tanzanite, opal, and pearl.[10]
  • New traits were added.[10]
  • Reinforced gold and silver rods were added.[10]
  • Fix: redstone teleporters no longer move entities in the c:teleporting_not_supported tag. They also won't move entities across dimensions if the entity normally doesn't allow it.[10]
Tip: Since 2.0.4 includes 5.1.3, everything listed above is already in your pack. The sources I have don't show the pack changing any of these values, so the 10 minute coffee delay is the mod's default.[7][8]
