What is Farmer's Delight?
3 parts
Farmer's Delight is a cozy expansion to farming and cooking. It uses a simple cooking system and familiar ingredients to let you prepare a wide variety of hearty meals, from sandwiches and salads to stews and desserts.[1]
The pack includes version 1.3.4 of the mod, so everything in this guide is based on that build.[2]
What you get
- Meals: a cooking system for hearty dishes, so no ingredient goes to waste in your kitchen.[1]
- Soil improvement: a way to improve the very soil your crops grow in.[1]
- Tools and weapons: new gear for hunting and gathering.[1]
- Decorations: cute pieces for your builds, plus many other blocks and items to help along the way.[1]
Who it is for
It is for you if you want food and farming to be more than a stack of bread. It suits players who enjoy a relaxed kitchen and farm alongside the bigger machines of a modpack.[1]
Where it fits in the pack
The mod shows up right at the start of the questbook. The getting_started chapter has a quest, "Feel The Burn" quest, that asks for a campfire and Straw. It comes after another quest in that chapter. That placement suggests you meet the mod early, though the sources don't say how much the rest of the pack's progression relies on it.[3]
How do you get started with Farmer's Delight?
4 parts
Farmer's Delight is all about farming and cooking. The mod's own advice is to follow its advancements: pick up any item, then press L (the default key) to open the Advancements screen.[1]
Make a Cutting Board
Start with the Cutting Board. With a tool in hand, you use it to break down an item.[4]

Craft a Knife
Next, craft a knife. The mod's advancement describes it as a tool to scavenge extra goods from plants and animals. The Flint Knife is one option, and the rice cutting recipes accept any knife.[4][5]

Get some Straw
In the getting_started chapter of the quest book, the quest "Feel The Burn" quest asks you to bring a campfire and Straw. It comes after another quest in the same chapter. You have several ways to get straw:[3]
- Harvest grass, wheat or rice with a knife. The mod's advancement for this describes it as the way to collect straw.[4]
- Cut Wild Rice or a Rice Panicle on the cutting board with a knife. You get Rice Crops and straw.[5]
- Cut a bamboo block on the cutting board with any axe. You get straw and a stripped bamboo block. The pack also adds a Create cutting recipe that does the same.[5]
- Use a crook on Dry Leaves. This recipe is added by the pack.[5]
- Turn a Straw Bale back into straw.[5]
Straw also leads to Canvas, which is used later for things like the Bamboo Basket and the Canvas Sign.[5]
Place a Cooking Pot
Finally, make the Cooking Pot. The mod's advancement for it is to put one down and start preparing meals. The campfire from the quest ties in with the mod's advancement for placing a Campfire to cook some food.[3][4]

How does Farmer's Delight work?
8 parts
Farmer's Delight describes itself as a cozy expansion to farming and cooking, so this section is about hands-on tools, soil and food. The sources here do not cover machine power, fluid handling or pipe-style automation for this mod, so I'm leaving all of that out. Below is what the sources do show, including the pack's own settings.[1]
Cooking Pot
The Cooking Pot is where meal preparation starts: the advancement text says to put one down and start preparing meals. Its tooltip can show how many servings it holds. Some meals are described as big enough to be placed down and shared with friends.[4]

When crafting.enableCookingPotRecipeBook is enabled, the Cooking Pot interface provides a Recipe Book like the one on Crafting Tables and Furnaces. The pack has it enabled.[6]
Cutting Board and Knife
With a tool in hand, you can use the Cutting Board to break an item down.[4]

Fortune can help here. Each level can increase the odds of rare results by the value of crafting.cuttingBoardFortuneBonus. The pack sets it to 0.1, the same as the mod default, and 0.0 would disable the bonus.[6]
The pack has overrides.enableCuttingBoardDispenserBehavior enabled. When it is on, a Dispenser can operate a Cutting Board in front of itself, using its stored items as cutting tools.[6]
Knives are described as lightweight melee weapons. They can harvest Straw from grasses, and they are said to guarantee secondary drops from animals. One advancement also has you use a Knife to extract Ham from Pigs or Hoglins.[4]
Skillet and Campfire
Skillets let you cook on the go. Stand near heat, then hold food in your other hand. You can also sneak to place a Skillet down as a block. Campfires are another way to cook food.[4]
Rich Soil and Organic Compost
Organic Compost slowly decays into Rich Soil, an upgrade for your farms. The advancement text says it composts better with sun, water and mushrooms. Recipe viewers list adjacent water and adjacent activators as things that speed it up.[4]
Crops planted on Rich Soil can get a bone meal boost. farming.richSoilBoostChance is 0.2 in this pack, which matches the mod default. Fully mature Mushroom Colonies can be sheared, but growing them that way needs very rich soil.[4][6]
Rice, tomatoes and ropes
The advancements say rice can be planted in a shallow water puddle, and that hanging rope above a tomato crop makes it grow taller.[4]
- farming.defaultTomatoVineRope sets which rope Tomato Vines leave behind when broken. The pack sets it to farmersdelight:rope.[6]
- farming.enableTomatoVineClimbingTaggedRopes is on, so tomato crops can climb any rope tagged as a Farmer's Delight rope. The config warns this converts those blocks into the default rope.[4][6]
- debug.enableTomatoRopePermanence is on, so tomato crops hanging on rope force-place a Rope block when broken. This can make commands like setblock fail on the first attempt. The config suggests turning it off if it blocks region editing, and recommends leaving it on for normal play.[4][6]
- settings.enableRopeReeling is on, so you can reel rope back from bottom to top by sneak-using on it with an empty hand.[4][6]
Crates and storage
When crafting.enableVanillaCropCrates is enabled, 3x3 storage crates for vanilla crops become craftable. The pack has it enabled, and the recipe dump marks the Carrot Crate and Beetroot Crate recipes as changed by the pack. The recipe blocks below show the in-pack versions.[5][6]
Crafting Shaped

Recipe id: farmersdelight:beetroot_crate
The mod's own crates work in both directions. You can pack Cabbage into a Cabbage Crate and turn the crate back into Cabbage.[5]
Food effects and overrides
Meals can grant the Comfort and Nourishment effects. Comfort gives natural regeneration regardless of how hungry you are. Nourishment keeps the food meter from decreasing, except when healing with saturation. The pack keeps the matching overlays on: enableComfortHealthOverlay and enableNourishmentHungerOverlay. It also keeps enableFoodEffectTooltip on, so food tooltips show their effects.[4][7]
- When overrides.enableVanillaSoupExtraEffects is enabled, Minecraft soups and stews grant Nourishment when eaten. The pack has it enabled.[6]
- When overrides.enableRabbitStewBuff is enabled, Rabbit Stew is given improved food stats to match its crafting cost. The pack has it enabled.[6]
- When overrides.stack_size.enableStackableSoupItems is enabled, listed bowl foods become stackable to 16. The pack has it enabled, and its list is mushroom stew, beetroot soup and rabbit stew.[6]
- overrides.enablePumpkinPieSneakToPlace would make Pumpkin Pie require sneaking to be placed as a block if it were enabled. The pack has it off.[6]
World generation and trading
The pack leaves village and trader integration mostly on. Compost Heaps can generate in villages, mod crops can replace standard crops on village farm plots, Novice and Apprentice Farmers can buy the mod's crops, and the Wandering Trader can sell its seeds and plantables. The exception is chest loot: world.generateFDChestLoot is off, so don't expect the mod's items in generated chests here.[4][6]
How do you progress through Farmer's Delight?
5 parts
Here is how Farmer's Delight shows up in this pack: where the quest book first points you at it, and which in-pack recipes open up each stage. I've laid it out in the order you're likely to meet things.[3][5]
Start: straw and the campfire quest
Your first contact is in the getting_started chapter. Quest "Feel The Burn" quest asks you to bring a Campfire and some Straw, and it unlocks after another quest in the same chapter. So straw is your way into the mod.[3]
There are several ways to get straw in this pack:[5]
- Use any axe on a bamboo block with the Farmer's Delight cutting recipe. It gives straw and a stripped bamboo block. The pack also adds a matching Create cutting recipe for the same result.[5]
- Cut Rice Panicle or Wild Rice with a knife to get Rice Crops and straw.[5]
- Crush a rice panicle in the Immersive Engineering crusher. The pack changed this recipe, and it gives rice and straw.[5]
- Use a crook on Dry Leaves. This recipe is added by the pack, and it gives straw.[5]
- Craft a Straw Bale back into straw.[5]
Knives and the cutting board
Rice panicles and wild rice are cut with any knife, so you'll want one early. The Flint Knife and Iron Knife use the mod's own recipes. The pack changed the recipes for the Golden Knife and the Diamond Knife, so don't assume the mod's defaults apply to those knives.[5]

Canvas and storage
Straw is also the base material for Canvas. Canvas leads to items such as the Canvas Sign, the Hanging Canvas Sign, the Canvas Rug and the Bamboo Basket. Canvas signs can be dyed in many colors.[5]
For bulk storage, crates compress crops. The pack changed the recipes for the Carrot Crate and the Beetroot Crate. The Cabbage Crate and Onion Crate use the mod's own recipes.[5]
Food, from simple to elaborate
Food is where the mod pays off, and the recipes range from simple to long. Short ones need only a few ingredients, like the Egg Sandwich and the Melon Juice. Others combine crops with cooked meat, like the Hamburger, the Chicken Sandwich and the Mutton Wrap. At the long end are multi-ingredient dishes like the Gleaming Salad and the Honey Glazed Ham.[5]

How does Farmer's Delight work with other mods?
6 parts
Farmer's Delight is wired into a handful of other mods in this pack. Most of the links come from recipes the pack added or changed, so you'll spot them in your recipe viewer. Here's what connects where.[5]
Tree Bark from Create cutting
The pack adds Create cutting recipes that turn logs and wood blocks from other mods into their stripped versions. Each one also gives you Tree Bark. This covers Ars Nouveau and Ars Elemental archwood, Chipped reinforced logs, Malum runewood and soulwood, Occultism otherworld wood, and many Twilight Forest woods. Here is one example.[5]

Create and Create Crafts & Additions
Pie Crust can be made in a Create mixer, using Wheat Flour. The pack changed this recipe.[5]

Immersive Engineering
Immersive Engineering's Plant Oil shows up in two squeezer recipes that the pack changed, one for Cabbage Seeds and one for Tomato Seeds. The recipe dump shows no listed item output for them. The exact recipes are below.[5]

Cloche growing
The pack adds Immersive Engineering cloche recipes that use Rich Soil as the soil for crops from other mods. That includes Ars Nouveau pods, Magebloom, Occultism's Demon's Dream, Supplementaries' Flax, Actually Additions' Canola Plant and Coffee Beans, Industrial Hemp fiber, and all nine tiers of Chicken Roost's chicken seed.[5]
Farmer's Delight crops get cloche recipes too, on Just Dire Things soils, from Primogel Soil up to Shadowpulse Soil. Cabbage and Onion are covered across that range, while Rice Crops stops at the third tier. One example is shown below.[5]

Quest link
In the getting started chapter, quest "Feel The Burn" quest asks you to bring a campfire and Straw.[3]
Which FTB StoneBlock 4 quests use Farmer's Delight?
In this pack, the Farmer's Delight quest the sources show sits in the getting_started chapter.[3]
- "Feel The Burn" quest has no title in the pack files. Its tasks are a campfire and Straw.[3]
- It comes after "Leaf Nothing Behind" quest in the same chapter, so finish that one first.[3]
Straw is the only Farmer's Delight item in this quest's task list, so the Farmer's Delight part of it is simply getting your hands on straw.[3]
Which Farmer's Delight config options matter?
5 parts
Farmer's Delight has plenty of config options, but only some of them change how you actually play. Here is how this pack sets the ones you're most likely to notice.[6]
Farming and crafting
- farming.richSoilBoostChance is 0.2, the mod default. This is the chance that Rich Soil gives a bone meal boost to a crop planted on it. The allowed range is 0.0 to 1.0, and 0.0 turns the boost off.[6]
- crafting.cuttingBoardFortuneBonus is 0.1, also the mod default. Each level of Fortune raises your odds of rare results on the Cutting Board by that much, and 0.0 disables it.[6]
- crafting.enableCookingPotRecipeBook is true, so the Cooking Pot shows a Recipe Book on its interface.[6]
- crafting.enableVanillaCropCrates is true, so the 3x3 storage crates for vanilla crops are craftable.[6]
- overrides.enableCuttingBoardDispenserBehavior is true, so a Dispenser can operate a Cutting Board in front of it, using its stored items as cutting tools.[6]
- overrides.enablePumpkinPieSneakToPlace is false, so you do not need to sneak to place Pumpkin Pie as a block.[6]
Ropes and tomatoes
- farming.defaultTomatoVineRope is Rope, the rope that tomato vines leave behind when broken.[6]
- farming.enableTomatoVineClimbingTaggedRopes is true, so tomato crops can climb any rope tagged as farmersdelight:ropes. The config warns that this converts those blocks into the block set in the default tomato vine rope option.[6]
- settings.enableRopeReeling is true, so you can reel rope back from bottom to top by sneak-using on it with an empty hand.[6]
- debug.enableTomatoRopePermanence is true. Breaking a hanging tomato crop force-places a Rope block, which can make commands like setblock fail at first. The config says to disable it if that blocks you from editing a region in creative or with commands, and recommends leaving it on for normal gameplay.[6]
Soups and food
- overrides.stack_size.enableStackableSoupItems is true, so the bowl foods in the soup list stack to 16, like Farmer's Delight meals.[6]
- overrides.stack_size.soupItemList contains Mushroom Stew, Beetroot Soup and Rabbit Stew.[6]
- overrides.enableVanillaSoupExtraEffects is true, so Minecraft's soups and stews grant Nourishment when eaten.[6]
- overrides.enableRabbitStewBuff is true, so Rabbit Stew gets improved food stats to match its crafting cost.[6]
Villages, traders and loot
- world.generateFDChestLoot is false, so the mod does not add its items (ropes, crops, tools and so on) to chest loot across the game.[6]
- world.generateFDCropsOnVillageFarms is true, so the mod's crops will sometimes replace standard crops in village farm plots.[6]
- world.generateVillageCompostHeaps is true, so Compost Heaps will sometimes generate in villages.[6]
- settings.enableFarmerFDTrades is true, so Novice and Apprentice Farmer villagers have a chance to buy crops from this mod.[6]
- settings.enableWanderingTraderFDTrades is true, so the Wandering Trader has a chance to sell seeds and plantables from this mod.[6]
Client options
- enableFoodEffectTooltip is true, so food items show tooltips listing the effects they grant, for foods from both Minecraft and this mod.[7]
- enableComfortHealthOverlay is true, which shows a scrolling overlay on the health meter while you have the Comfort effect.[7]
- enableNourishmentHungerOverlay is true, which shows a gilded overlay on the food meter while you have the Nourishment effect.[7]
What changed in Farmer's Delight between versions?
2 parts
FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 ships Farmer's Delight 1.3.4 (the 1.21.1 build), and the mod has been in the pack since 1.0.0 or earlier. Below are the notable changes from the mod's own changelogs, newest first. Only the entries tagged for 1.21 or 1.21.1, or with no version tag, apply to the 1.21.1 build in this pack.[2][8][9][10]
Latest releases
- 1.3.4 (the version in the pack): fixed a broken behavior when pushing Feasts with Pistons, and fixed the generateFDChestLoot config not properly disabling Farmer's Delight's extra chest loot.[11]
- 1.3.3: fixed rope reeling failing when the rope touches the void layer, fixed Canvas Signs losing text color when NBT-copied, and fixed the Cooking Pot not comparing data components when merging meal output stacks.[8]
- 1.3.2: Fried Rice and Chicken Soup were nerfed down to the 3-minute tier of meals, due to their ease of cooking. Rice Bag was removed from the straw_blocks tag and added directly to mineable/knife instead.[9]
- 1.3.2 also added fuel values: a Straw Bale smelts 5 items, and Rope Fence and Rope Fence Gate smelt 1 item each. On 1.21+, fuel values now live in a NeoForge datamap, furnace_fuels.json.[9]
- 1.3.2 fixes on 1.21+: Rope Fences holding leashed animals in some circumstances, Pumpkins having inverted slicing logic with Silk Touch, and a Cutting Board crash when Fortune is disabled through datapacks.[9]
- 1.3.1: brought back deprecated tag references and configuration references in code to stop crashes with add-ons that depended on them. Block and item fields for BASKET now point to BAMBOO_BASKET.[12]
Earlier releases
- 1.2.11a: fixed block entities not clearing properly on contraption mods.[13]
- 1.2.11: on 1.21+, the farmersdelight:feasts tag was added to c:edible_when_placed and Ropes were tagged under c:ropes. Statistics are now awarded for using tools on the Cutting Board, cutting cakes and pies with Knives, and taking servings from feasts with containers.[10]
- 1.2.11 also fixed Mushroom Colonies floating without support under a light level of 13 on 1.21+, and fixed Canvas Rug and Tatami Mats missing their own stepping sounds.[10]
- 1.2.10: villagers can now consume Farmer's Delight crops to become willing to breed. On 1.21+, new tags were added, farmersdelight:snacks and farmersdelight:sweets, and all Farmer's Delight foods were properly tagged inside c:foods.[14]
- 1.2.10 also moved all Farmer's Delight recipes to the c:drinks/milk tag. The older c:foods/milk tag is being sunsetted and is kept only for backwards compatibility.[14]
- 1.2.10 fixes: the foodEffectTooltip config now affects vanilla foods with Farmer's Delight effect overrides, and non-contained meals like Dumplings are no longer deleted when you use the same meal against the pot while it sits in the meal slot.[14]
- 1.2.9: Rich Soil Farmland can now be hydrated by any fluid type capable of hydration, and Wild Cabbage and Sea Beet can generate in any biome tagged minecraft:is_beach.[15]
- 1.2.9 fixes on 1.21+: the Cooking Pot allowing up to 99 servings to be cooked and stored, Rabbit Stew not returning bowls, and Create milling recipes that never finished processing. Cooking Pot access in spectator mode was also disabled as a temporary crash fix.[15]

Show settings
| Setting | FTB StoneBlock 4 value | Mod default |
|---|---|---|
enableComfortHealthOverlay If enabled, a scrolling overlay will be shown over the health meter when the player has the Comfort effect. config/farmersdelight-client.toml | true | not documented |
enableFoodEffectTooltip If enabled, food items will display tooltips showing which effects they grant when eaten, if any. Applies to foods from both Minecraft and this mod. config/farmersdelight-client.toml | true | not documented |
enableNourishmentHungerOverlay If enabled, a gilded overlay will be shown over the food meter when the player has the Nourishment effect. config/farmersdelight-client.toml | true | not documented |
crafting.enableCookingPotRecipeBook If enabled, the Cooking Pot will provide a Recipe Book on its interface, similar to the one on Crafting Tables and Furnaces. config/farmersdelight-common.toml | true | not documented |
crafting.enableVanillaCropCrates If enabled, storage crates (3x3) for vanilla crops (similar to Quark and Thermal Cultivation) will become craftable. config/farmersdelight-common.toml | true | not documented |
debug.enableTomatoRopePermanence Tomato crops hanging on rope will force-place a Rope block when broken. Due to technical limitations, this affects things such as commands, making them fail to 'setblock' at first. Disable this if this block is preventing you from editing a region in creative or with commands. For normal gameplay, I recommend leaving this enabled. config/farmersdelight-common.toml | true | not documented |
