What is Supplementaries?
2 parts
Supplementaries is a "Vanilla+" mod. Instead of rebuilding the game, it fills gaps vanilla leaves open with functional, good-looking blocks and items that sit comfortably next to what you already know. The project page lists jars, signposts, faucets, weather vanes, spring launchers, sconces, planters and lights, plus plenty more for decoration and automation.[1]
Who it's for
If you like making your base look great, or you want a few neat tools to automate small jobs, this mod is for you. The decoration and automation pieces are the main idea, so you can pick up whatever suits your build and ignore the rest.[1]
In this pack
The pack ships Supplementaries 1.21.1-3.9.8 as the NeoForge build. The project page says the mod requires Moonlight Library to run.[1][2]
The mod is described as highly configurable, and its developer points to the Customization section of the mod's official wiki for tweaking or disabling features. Keep in mind that the pack can change values, so check the pack's own configs rather than assuming mod defaults.[1]
Unverified The sources don't show where this mod fits into the pack's progression, so there is no confirmed guidance on when to use it. I also can't confirm any in-game guidebook for it.
How do you get started with Supplementaries?
1 part
Supplementaries adds Vanilla+ content such as jars, signposts, faucets, sconces and planters, along with decoration and automation pieces. It is also highly configurable, so the pack's settings matter. The mod needs Moonlight Library to run.[1]
Good first things to craft
The sources here don't give an official order of progression for this mod, so treat this as a short list of early items with confirmed in-pack recipes and a clear use. Pick what suits your base.[3]
- Altimeter: the mod's settings describe it as a depth meter that displays your current depth. Handy once you start digging.[3][4]
- Bellows: a block that pushes air, driven by redstone power. It will only keep the two closest fire blocks alive.[3][4]
- Bamboo Spikes: a trap block. A setting lets mobs killed by spikes drop loot as if a player killed them, but the sources here don't show whether this pack enables it.[3][4]
- Awning: a decorative block you can dye afterwards. A setting lets entities fall through awnings when shifting, and another controls the bounce angle of slanted ones.[3][4]

How does Supplementaries work?
6 parts
Supplementaries is a highly configurable mod, so how its blocks behave in this pack depends a lot on the config file. Below I cover the systems the sources actually explain: bellows, cages, spikes, bombs, way signs and a handful of interactive blocks. Wherever the pack changes something from the mod default, I say so.[1][5]
Bellows and redstone
The Bellows pushes air in pulses, and the pulse timing follows a sine wave. A stronger redstone signal shortens the pulse period, so it pulses faster. The faster it pulses, the further it pushes. The mod's config notes also say a bellows only keeps the two closest fire blocks alive, however far its range reaches.[3][4]

Cages and jars
Cages and jars capture mobs, and the config decides which ones qualify. In this pack, functional.cage.allow_all_mobs is off. That option is described as not meant for survival. functional.cage.cage_allow_all_babies is off too. So is functional.cage.cage_auto_detect, which would otherwise allow small mobs based on their hitbox size.[4][5]
Bamboo spikes
This pack turns on the alternative spike mode via functional.bamboo_spikes.only_allow_harmful_effects. In that mode only harmful effects can be applied to Bamboo Spikes, and in return the spikes get infinite durability. Mobs killed by spikes do not drop loot as if a player killed them, because functional.bamboo_spikes.player_loot is off.[3][4][5]

The pack has changed this recipe too.
Bombs
The pack changes the blue bomb. Its explosion radius, tools.bomb.blue_bomb.explosion_radius, is 5.15 here, while the mod default is 3. It's described as the same blast as a normal bomb, just a bit bigger.[4][5]
Road signs
Road signs point you toward structures, and they are enabled in this pack. They search up to 200 chunks away and try up to 12 structure types per search, and both values match the mod defaults. They also show the distance to the structure they point at.[5]
Interactive and utility blocks
- Blackboards use the BOTH interaction mode, so you can draw with the GUI or by hand. Drawing directly with any dye is off, and the GUI itself works only in black and white.[5]
- Notice boards hold a single item and have a GUI, but they only accept maps and books, because accepting any item is off.[5]
- Pedestals give an enchanting power bonus equal to 3 bookshelves when an end crystal sits on them.[5]
- Flags can use poles up to 16 blocks long. You can also click a stick to lower or raise an attached flag.[5]
- Iron gates are not door-like in this pack, and two stacked iron gates can open together.[5]
- Timber frames can be stripped with axes, leaving the contained block intact. Placing daub into a frame replaces it with wattle and daub. Placing a frame directly onto a block by holding shift is off.[5]
- Awnings can be slanted and entities can fall through them while shifting. The bounce angle is the mod default.[5]
- Ash layers can form when burnable blocks burn, at a chance of 1, and burning mobs drop ash when they die. Rain can wash ash layers away over time.[5]
Awnings start from a base Awning, and dyeing it is a simple shapeless craft, one dye per colour.[3]
How do you progress through Supplementaries?
2 parts
The recipe data for Supplementaries in this pack lists crafting recipes for the mod's items. It doesn't sort them into stages or gate them behind each other, so I won't invent a tier list. Every Supplementaries recipe it shows is marked as changed by the pack, so don't trust recipes you remember from the mod's defaults.[3]
Unverified The sources here do not show any quest-driven progression or tier breakdown for Supplementaries, and no in-jar guidebook or official documentation was available. If the pack's quest book covers the mod, that is where a progression order would be told, but it is not confirmed here.
Check the recipe before you plan
Because the pack changed these recipes, look at the in-pack recipe for each item before you gather materials. Here are a few of the utility items you're likely to want, with the pack's exact recipes shown below.[3]

Building blocks and decoration
The pack also has recipes for decorative families. Ash Bricks and Blackstone Tiles each have slab, stairs and wall recipes. Awnings and buntings come in every dye colour, and candle holders have dye recipes for recoloring. Nothing in the recipe data ties these to a progression gate.[3]
The Ash Bricks recipe is marked as changed by the pack.
How does Supplementaries work with other mods?
3 parts
In this pack, Supplementaries connects to other mods through its flax crop, a crook recipe and three crafting recipes the pack changed. Here is every link the recipe data shows.[3]
Growing Flax
Flax Seeds can be grown into Flax in the Immersive Engineering cloche. The pack adds a cloche recipe for each soil, so you can pick whichever one you have on hand. They are all shown below.[3]
The Rich Soil version, added by the pack.
The Primogel Soil version.
The Blazebloom Soil version.
The VoidShimmer Soil version.
The Shadowpulse Soil version.
You can also get the seeds without a farm. The pack adds a crook recipe, shown below, whose possible outputs include Flax Seeds, alongside plants and seeds from other mods, such as Canola Seeds, Demon's Dream Seeds and Wild Rice.[3]

Changed crafting recipes
The pack changed the recipes for three Supplementaries blocks so they use items from other mods.[3]
- The Planter recipe uses Rich Soil.[3]
- The Present is crafted from Cardboard.[3]
- The Sack recipe was changed as well, as shown below.[3]
Quiver in a custom machine
The Quiver also appears in a pack-added custom machine recipe, shown below.[3]

Which Supplementaries config options matter?
4 parts
Supplementaries is very configurable, and this pack keeps its settings in config/supplementaries-common.toml. The one value I can confirm the pack changed from the mod default is the blue bomb explosion radius, tools.bomb.blue_bomb.explosion_radius.[5]
The other values below match the mod default wherever the file lists one. Some are simple on/off switches with no default listed.[5]
Bombs and cannons
- Normal bombs use an tools.bomb.explosion_radius of 2. The item cooldown is on (tools.bomb.cooldown), and tools.bomb.bomb_fuse is 0, so bombs explode on contact.[5]
- Both normal bombs (tools.bomb.break_blocks) and blue bombs (tools.bomb.blue_bomb.break_blocks) are set to WEAK. The allowed values are ALL, WEAK and NONE.[5]
- Blue bombs scatter 5 baby bombs (tools.bomb.blue_bomb.split_count). Each baby bomb has an explosion radius of 1.2 (tools.bomb.blue_bomb.baby_explosion_radius).[5]
- Cannons have a functional.cannon.cooldown of 60, a functional.cannon.fuse_time of 40 and a functional.cannon.fire_power of 0.6. functional.cannon.explode_tnt is set to IGNITE.[5]
Ropes and pulleys
- Ropes are enabled (functional.rope.enabled). That switch also controls galleons, pulleys, buntings and rope arrows, and each of those is enabled here too.[5]
- A pulley can drag up to 8 non-rope blocks (redstone.pulley_block.pull_limit), with 4 ticks between pulls (redstone.pulley_block.pull_interval). redstone.pulley_block.continuous_retraction and redstone.pulley_block.cooperative_pulleys are both on, so several pulleys can team up on a wide elevator platform.[5]
- tools.rope_arrow.capacity is 32 rope items per rope arrow.[5]
Jars, cages and storage
- Jars have a liquid functional.jar.capacity of 12 and can capture small mobs (functional.jar.jar_capture). Drinking straight from a placed jar (functional.jar.drink_from_jar) and from jar items (functional.jar.drink_from_jar_item) is off.[5]
- Cages only take tameable mobs once they are tamed (functional.cage.require_taming). functional.cage.allow_all_mobs is off.[5]
- A quiver holds 6 arrow stacks (tools.quiver.slots) and a sack has 9 slots (functional.sack.slots). Carrying too many sacks slows you down (functional.sack.sack_penalty), and functional.sack.sack_increment is 2.[5]
Slingshot and tweaks
- The slingshot can throw buckets (tools.slingshot.allow_buckets). Bombs, ender pearls, fire charges, snowballs and splash potions are all turned off.[5]
- Bottling XP with a bottle on an enchanting table is off (tweaks.bottle_xp.enabled).[5]
- Right-clicking a clock shows the time (tweaks.clock_and_compass.clock_right_click is on). Right-clicking a compass for coordinates (tweaks.clock_and_compass.compass_right_click) is off.[5]
What changed in Supplementaries between versions?
3 parts
FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 ships Supplementaries 1.21.1-3.9.8, and the mod has been in the pack since 1.0.0 or earlier. There are no pack changelog entries for this mod, so everything below comes from the mod's own changelogs, newest first.[2]
Newest releases (including the version in the pack)
- 3.9.8: fixed the pulley animation on the first pull, fixed the cannon boat shoot range, fixed the flags banner config item renderer, and changed how the hourglass loads.[6]
- 3.9.6: plunderers can now spawn in a raid when the raid spawns on water. They come with boats that other pillagers can use, and their boat navigation was improved.[7]
- 3.9.3: misc fixes.[8]
Older 1.21.1 releases
- 3.8.8: fixed an issue with piston cooperators, and plunderers can rarely drop spyglasses.[9]
- 3.8.4: improved cannon visuals, for parity with Bedrock.[10]
- 3.8.3: fixed an issue with opening menus.[11]
- 3.6.7: fixed a loot table.[12]
- 3.6.5 and 3.6.4: random fixes and a handful of minor fixes.[13][14]
Earlier 1.21 releases
- 3.5.34: a follow-up to the fix for the cannon shooting backwards, which had not been included in the previous release.[15]
- 3.5.26: fixed a crash with round globes, plus misc fixes.[16]
- 3.5.17: fixed the multishot slingshot consuming just 1 projectile. Rope arrows shot from multishot crossbows can now be shot more than 1 at a time, still consuming all the projectiles.[17]
- 3.5.16: added a rope disable config and improved config descriptions in general, which fixed some items not being disabled properly. Disabling ropes also automatically disables pulleys, buntings, rope arrows, the mineshaft elevator and compat blocks like rope tomatoes and rope chandeliers. The deco blocks compat was updated too.[18]
- 3.5.10: added back some classes for backward compatibility and fixed the spider noteblock sound.[19]
- 3.4.20: many small internal improvements and misc fixes.[20]
