What is Farmer's Delight?
3 parts
Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 guide
Farmer's Delight is a cozy expansion to farming and cooking. It uses a simple cooking system and familiar ingredients to let you prepare a wide variety of hearty meals, from sandwiches and salads to stews and desserts.[1]
The pack includes version 1.3.4 of the mod, so everything in this guide is based on that build.[2]
What you get
- Meals: a cooking system for hearty dishes, so no ingredient goes to waste in your kitchen.[1]
- Soil improvement: a way to improve the very soil your crops grow in.[1]
- Tools and weapons: new gear for hunting and gathering.[1]
- Decorations: cute pieces for your builds, plus many other blocks and items to help along the way.[1]
Who it is for
It is for you if you want food and farming to be more than a stack of bread. It suits players who enjoy a relaxed kitchen and farm alongside the bigger machines of a modpack.[1]
Where it fits in the pack
The mod shows up right at the start of the questbook. The getting_started chapter has a quest, a quest in "?", that asks for a campfire and Straw. It comes after another quest in that chapter. That placement suggests you meet the mod early, though the sources don't say how much the rest of the pack's progression relies on it.[3]
How do you get started with Farmer's Delight?
6 parts
Farmer's Delight is a mod about farming and cooking, and in this pack your first step into it is Straw. The quest a quest in "?" in the getting started chapter asks you to bring a Campfire and Straw. Here is the order I'd go in, and why.[1][4]
Make a knife
The knife is the tool that opens up the mod. It is a lightweight melee weapon with fast swings and gentle damage, and it can harvest Straw from grasses. The mod even has an advancement for crafting one. The Flint Knife is the one to craft first.[5][6]
Later you can move up to the Iron Knife. The Golden Knife and the Diamond Knife are changed by the pack, so the pack's versions are shown below.[5]

Get your first Straw
Straw is a dry plant fiber used in crafting. You get it by cutting grassy crops and plants with a knife, and the mod's advancement for it mentions grass, wheat or rice.[6]
The pack gives you another route too: a Crook can turn Dry Leaves into Straw, and that recipe was added by the pack.[5]
If you already have a Straw Bale, you can break it back down into Straw.[5]
Craft a Cutting Board
The Cutting Board lets you break an item down by using it with a tool in hand. It also gives you another source of Straw: cutting a bamboo block gives Straw and a stripped bamboo block. The pack also has a Create cutting recipe that gives the same result.[5][6]

Campfire and Cooking Pot
The Campfire is the other item the quest asks for, and the mod has an advancement for placing one down to cook some food. The Cooking Pot is the next step, and its advancement is about putting one down and starting to prepare meals.[4][6]

Turn Straw into Canvas
Once you have some Straw, you can craft Canvas. It is used for the farmersdelight:basket and for canvas signs.[5]
Start looking for crops
Wild crops are found by biome. Rice grows in the ponds of wet lands such as swamps and jungles. Cutting Wild Rice with a knife gives you both Rice Crops and Straw, and so does a Rice Panicle.[5][6]
How does Farmer's Delight work?
8 parts
Farmer's Delight is a cozy kitchen-and-farm mod, and the sources for this pack don't describe any power, fluid or multiblock systems for it. What they do cover is a handful of hands-on stations (the cooking pot, the cutting board, the skillet), a soil upgrade chain, and some handy automation toggles. Here's how those work in this pack.[1][6][7]
Cooking Pot
The Cooking Pot is where you prepare hearty meals. Placing one down is the first step into the mod's meal system, and its tooltip shows how many servings a stored meal holds. This pack leaves the in-GUI recipe book switched on, via recipe_book.enableRecipeBookCookingPot, so you can browse recipes right from the pot's interface.[6][7]

Cutting Board and Knife
Hold a tool and use a Cutting Board to break an item down. In this pack a Dispenser can operate a board in front of it, because overrides.dispenserUsesToolsOnCuttingBoard is on.[6][7]

Recipe id: farmersdelight:cutting_board
Each level of Fortune adds a bonus to Cutting Board chances. The pack sets settings.cuttingBoardFortuneBonus to 0.1, the same as the mod default.[7]
The Knife is a lightweight melee weapon with fast swings and gentle damage. Knives can harvest Straw from grasses, and guarantee secondary drops from animals. You can also get Ham from Pigs or Hoglins with one.[6]
Straw is a dry plant fiber you get by cutting grassy crops and plants with a Knife. It's what Canvas is crafted from, and canvas is used for things like the farmersdelight:basket and canvas signs.[5][6]
Skillet and Campfire Cooking
The Skillet lets you cook on the go: stand near heat, then hold the food in your other hand. Sneak to place it down as a block. You can also place a Campfire to cook some food.[6]
Soil, Compost and Growth
Organic Compost slowly decays into Rich Soil, an upgrade for your farms. It decomposes faster with adjacent water and with adjacent activators, and the in-game description mentions sun, water and mushrooms as helpful.[6]
Rich Soil boosts plant growth on a random-tick chance. In this pack, settings.richSoilBoostChance is 0.2, which matches the mod default. Mushroom Colonies need very rich soil to grow, and you shear a fully mature one to harvest it.[6][7]
Tomato Vines and Rope
Hang rope above a tomato crop and the plant grows taller. Mining a vine by hand leaves behind the rope set in farming.defaultTomatoVineRope, which is the mod's own rope in this pack.[6][7]
With farming.enableTomatoVineClimbingTaggedRopes on, vines can climb any rope with the farmersdelight:ropes tag. The config warns that this converts those blocks into the default rope block. Rope reeling is also enabled through settings.enableRopeReeling, so sneak-using with an empty hand reels rope back from bottom to top.[7]
Crates
The mod adds 3x3 crates for crops, and the pack keeps vanilla-crop crates craftable through settings.enableVanillaCropCrates. The Beetroot Crate and Carrot Crate are changed by the pack, while the Cabbage Crate is the mod's own. The exact versions are shown below.[5][7]

Meals, Effects and Vanilla Soups
Warm bowl meals grant Comfort, which provides natural regeneration no matter how hungry you are. Plated meals grant Nourishment, which prevents hunger loss except when saturation is used to heal damage.[6]
The pack enables the Comfort health bar sheen, the Nourishment hunger bar overlay and the effect tooltips on meals and drinks. These are the client options: client.comfortHealthOverlay, client.nourishmentHungerOverlay and client.foodEffectTooltip.[8]
Vanilla soups are touched too. overrides.stack_size.enableStackableSoupItems is on, so mushroom stew, beetroot soup and rabbit stew stack to 16. overrides.vanillaSoupExtraEffects gives them extra effects like this mod's meals, and overrides.rabbitStewBuff improves Rabbit Stew's food stats.[7]
Dough
Wheat becomes Dough when you craft it with a Water Bucket, and the bucket's water isn't used up.[6]
How do you progress through Farmer's Delight?
5 parts
Here's a natural order for Farmer's Delight in this pack, based on its quest and recipes: get straw, make a knife, set up your workstations, then branch into canvas, crates and food.[4][5]
Straw and the early quest
The pack's getting_started chapter has one Farmer's Delight quest, a quest in "?". Its tasks are a Campfire and Straw, and it unlocks after another quest in the same chapter. So straw is the first thing the pack asks of this mod.[4]
There are several ways to get straw in this pack:[5]
- Cut Rice Panicle or Wild Rice with any knife to get Rice Crops and straw.[5]
- Process a Rice Panicle in the Immersive Engineering crusher for the same results. The pack changed this recipe.[5]
- Cut a Bamboo Block to get straw plus a Stripped Bamboo Block. The mod has a cutting recipe for this, and the pack also adds a matching Create cutting recipe.[5]
- Break a Straw Bale back down into straw.[5]
- Use a crook on Dry Leaves. This recipe is added by the pack.[5]
Knives
The rice cutting recipes accept any knife. The Flint Knife and Iron Knife use the mod's own recipes. The Golden Knife and Diamond Knife recipes have been changed by the pack, so check the recipes below rather than relying on what you remember from other packs.[5]

Next come the Cutting Board and the Cooking Pot. Both use the mod's own recipes.[5]

Canvas and building items
Straw also feeds into Canvas, and canvas leads to the farmersdelight:basket, the Canvas Rug and the canvas signs.[5]
Crates and food
Once your farms are running, crates are a handy way to pack up produce. The pack changed the recipes for the Carrot Crate and the Beetroot Crate.[5]
Meals follow from there. The Egg Sandwich is a simple one, while the Hamburger uses a Beef Patty. Both in-pack recipes are shown below.[5]

How does Farmer's Delight work with other mods?
6 parts
Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 guide
Farmer's Delight is wired into a handful of other mods in this pack. Most of the links come from recipes the pack added or changed, so you'll spot them in your recipe viewer. Here's what connects where.[9]
Tree Bark from Create cutting
The pack adds Create cutting recipes that turn logs and wood blocks from other mods into their stripped versions. Each one also gives you Tree Bark. This covers Ars Nouveau and Ars Elemental archwood, Chipped reinforced logs, Malum runewood and soulwood, Occultism otherworld wood, and many Twilight Forest woods. Here is one example.[9]

Recipe id: create:cutting/runtime_generated/compat/malum/runewood_log_to_stripped_runewood_log
Create and Create Crafts & Additions
Pie Crust can be made in a Create mixer, using Wheat Flour. The pack changed this recipe.[9]
Mixing (create)
3× Wheat Flour
- 250× any milk
Recipe id: farmersdelight:integration/create/mixing/pie_crust_from_mixing
The pack also changed the Create Crafts & Additions compacting recipe for Cake Base. It uses Wheat Dough from Farmer's Delight.[9]
Compacting (create)
Wheat Dough
2× Sugar
- any egg
Recipe id: createaddition:compacting/cake_base
Immersive Engineering
Immersive Engineering's Plant Oil shows up in two squeezer recipes that the pack changed, one for Cabbage Seeds and one for Tomato Seeds. The recipe dump shows no listed item output for them. The exact recipes are below.[9]
Squeezer (immersiveengineering)
Recipe id: farmersdelight:integration/immersiveengineering/squeezer/cabbage_seeds

Cloche growing
The pack adds Immersive Engineering cloche recipes that use Rich Soil as the soil for crops from other mods. That includes Ars Nouveau pods, Magebloom, Occultism's Demon's Dream, Supplementaries' Flax, Actually Additions' Canola Plant and Coffee Beans, Industrial Hemp fiber, and all nine tiers of Chicken Roost's chicken seed.[9]
Farmer's Delight crops get cloche recipes too, on Just Dire Things soils, from Primogel Soil up to Shadowpulse Soil. Cabbage and Onion are covered across that range, while Rice Crops stops at the third tier. One example is shown below.[9]

Applied Energistics and Applied Delight
Applied Delight adds the ME Cooking Pot, a version of the Cooking Pot that brings in AE2 gear such as the Dense Energy Cell, the ME Terminal and the Wireless Receiver. The exact recipe is shown below.[9]
Quest link
In the getting started chapter, quest a quest in "?" asks you to bring a campfire and Straw.[3]
Which FTB StoneBlock 4 quests use Farmer's Delight?
Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 guide
In this pack, the Farmer's Delight quest the sources show sits in the getting_started chapter.[3]
- a quest in "?" has no title in the pack files. Its tasks are a campfire and Straw.[3]
- It comes after a quest in "?" in the same chapter, so finish that one first.[3]
Straw is the only Farmer's Delight item in this quest's task list, so the Farmer's Delight part of it is simply getting your hands on straw.[3]
Which Farmer's Delight config options matter?
5 parts
Farmer's Delight has a lot of config options, but only a handful really change how your game feels. For every number the pack's config file lists a mod default for, the pack's value is identical to that default, so the pack hasn't changed any of those. The file doesn't list defaults for the on/off options, so I can't tell you which of those the pack flipped.[7]
Food and cooking
- overrides.stack_size.enableStackableSoupItems is currently on. Bowl foods in overrides.stack_size.soupItemList stack to 16, and the pack's list is currently Mushroom Stew, Beetroot Soup and Rabbit Stew.[7]
- overrides.vanillaSoupExtraEffects is currently on, so vanilla soups and stews grant extra effects like this mod's meals do. overrides.rabbitStewBuff is also currently on, which gives Rabbit Stew improved food stats.[7]
- recipe_book.enableRecipeBookCookingPot is currently on, so the Cooking Pot interface has a Recipe Book.[7]
- settings.cuttingBoardFortuneBonus is currently 0.1 per level of Fortune on Cutting Board chances. Setting it to 0.0 disables the bonus. This is the mod default.[7]
- overrides.dispenserUsesToolsOnCuttingBoard is on, so a Dispenser can operate a Cutting Board in front of it.[7]
Farming
- settings.richSoilBoostChance is 0.2, which is how often Rich Soil boosts a plant's growth on each random tick. This is the mod default.[7]
- settings.enableRopeReeling is on, so you can reel rope back up from bottom to top by sneak-using on it with an empty hand.[7]
- farming.defaultTomatoVineRope is currently set to Rope. That is the rope Tomato Vines leave behind when you mine them by hand.[7]
- settings.enableVanillaCropCrates is currently on, so the 3x3 crates for vanilla crops are craftable.[7]
Villagers and loot
- world.generateFDChestLoot is currently false in this pack, so the mod doesn't add its ropes, seeds, knives, meals and so on to chest loot across Minecraft. The file doesn't say whether that differs from the mod default.[7]
- settings.farmersBuyFDCrops is on, so Novice and Apprentice Farmers buy this mod's crops. The file warns this may reduce the chance of other trades appearing.[7]
- settings.wanderingTraderSellsFDItems is on, so the Wandering Trader sells some of this mod's items (currently crop seeds and onions).[7]
- world.genFDCropsOnVillageFarms and world.genVillageCompostHeaps are both on, so you may find this mod's crops in village farms and Compost Heaps in village biomes.[7]
Wild crop generation
For the wild crop chances, a smaller value means more frequent clusters. Currently, every one of these matches the mod default.[7]
- world.wild_rice.chance is currently 20, the most frequent of the wild crops.[7]
- world.wild_beetroots.chance and world.wild_cabbages.chance are both currently 30.[7]
- world.wild_potatoes.chance and world.wild_tomatoes.chance are both currently 100.[7]
- world.wild_carrots.chance and world.wild_onions.chance are both currently 120, the rarest of the wild crops.[7]
- Brown and red mushroom colonies on mushroom fields are currently enabled through world.brown_mushroom_colonies.genBrownMushroomColony and world.red_mushroom_colonies.genRedMushroomColony, with world.brown_mushroom_colonies.chance and world.red_mushroom_colonies.chance both at 15.[7]
Client display options
Every client option is on. client.foodEffectTooltip shows which effects meal and drink tooltips provide. client.comfortHealthOverlay gives the health bar a silver sheen with the Comfort effect. client.nourishmentHungerOverlay gives the hunger bar a gilded overlay with the Nourishment effect.[8]
One more setting is settings.canvasSignDarkBackgroundList. In this pack it currently lists gray, purple, blue, brown, green, red and black, so Canvas Signs on those dye backgrounds default to white text when placed.[7]
What changed in Farmer's Delight between versions?
4 parts
FTB StoneBlock 4 1.11.1 ships Farmer's Delight 1.2.11a (the 1.21.1 build), and it has been in the pack since 1.0.0 or earlier. Below are the notable changes from the last few releases of the mod itself, newest first. Entries marked 1.21+ in the changelogs apply to this pack, since it runs the 1.21.1 build.[10][11][12][13]
1.2.11a
- Fixed block entities not clearing properly on contraption mods.[14]
1.2.11
- The feasts tag is now added to the c:edible_when_placed tag, and ropes are now tagged under the c:ropes block and item tags (both 1.21+).[10]
- Fixed a potential load error where tomatoes were not present when joining a server.[10]
- Canvas Rug and Tatami Mats now have their own stepping sounds.[10]
- Statistics are now properly awarded for using tools on the Cutting Board, using Knives to cut cakes and pies, and using containers to take servings from feasts.[10]

- Wild Cabbage and Sea Beet can now generate on any biome tagged with minecraft:is_beach.[12]
- The offhand_equipment tag now includes forge:tools/shields by default.[12]
- The Cooking Pot no longer crashes when opened in spectator mode. This is a temporary fix: access is now disabled.[12]
- Fixed the Cooking Pot allowing players to cook and store up to 99 servings (1.21+).[12]
- Fixed the Create integration's milling recipes never finishing processing (1.21+).[12]
- Fixed Rabbit Stew not returning bowls after being eaten (1.21+).[12]
- Fixed a potential datapack error with cooking recipes in KubeJS (1.21+).[12]
