What is Chipped?
2 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Chipped is a building mod that gives you a huge range of decorative block variants. The project page advertises over 11,000 unique building blocks, from stained glass variations to concrete, prismarine and gilded blackstone. The textures are hand-made in the vanilla style, and many of them are connected textures powered by Athena.[1]
If you've ever used Chisel, you'll get the idea straight away. Chipped is inspired by it and is built for anyone who wants more variety in their builds, whether that's a castle, a nether fortress or a plain dirt house.[1]
How you use it
You start by crafting one of the seven tables, which turn various vanilla blocks into their chipped variants. The tables all look different but work the same way, so pick whichever suits your build, or make a few different ones and spread them around your base.[1]
In this pack
The pack ships Chipped 4.0.2, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1.[2]
Unverified The sources I have don't show where Chipped fits in the pack's progression, and they don't show any recipe changes. Check the recipes in-game before you plan around them. This site does hold FTB StoneBlock 4's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How do you get started with Chipped?
4 parts
Chipped is a building mod that adds over 11,000 block variants. To start, you craft one of its seven tables. They all look different but work the same, so pick whichever fits your build best, or make a few and spread them around your base.[1]
This pack has changed the recipes for the Carpenters Table, Mason Table, Glassblower and Tinkering Table. The Alchemy Bench, Botanist Workbench and Loom Table use the mod's own recipes. The recipes below are the ones in this pack.[3]
Make your first tables
Start with the Mason Table and the Carpenters Table. Each one leads straight to a tool, so they are the most useful tables to have early.[3]

Fill out the rest of the set
Once you are comfortable, craft the other tables. Each one also has a follow-up item made from it: the Needles from the Loom Table, the Multimeter from the Tinkering Table, the Watering Can from the Botanist Workbench and the Alchemy Book from the Alchemy Bench.[3]

How does Chipped work?
4 parts
Chipped is a building mod, and the sources describe it that way. The whole system is a set of crafting tables that turn vanilla blocks into their chipped variants. The sources show no power, fluid or item-pipe handling for it, so there is nothing to automate or wire up here.[1]
The seven tables
You start by crafting one of seven tables. They all look different but work the same, so pick the one that suits your build or spread a few around your base. The mod advertises over 11,000 unique building blocks, and many of them use connected textures.[1]
- Alchemy Bench: a mod recipe, not changed by the pack.[3]
- Botanist Workbench: a mod recipe, not changed by the pack.[3]
- Loom Table: a mod recipe, not changed by the pack.[3]
- Carpenters Table: the pack changed this recipe.[3]
- Glassblower: the pack changed this recipe.[3]
- Mason Table: the pack changed this recipe.[3]
- Tinkering Table: the pack changed this recipe.[3]
Here are the pack's recipes for the tables it changed. Use these, not the mod's defaults.[3]

Table-linked tools
Several tools are crafted by combining a table with one extra item in a shapeless recipe. They are the Alchemy Book, Multimeter, Needles, Saw and Watering Can. Each one starts from a different table. Of these, only the saw recipe is changed by the pack.[3]

Unverified The sources here do not explain what each tool does in use, or how the table interface lets you pick a variant. The mod's in-jar guidebook is not among the sources, so check in-game before building a plan around them.
Reinforced blocks
The mod's language file lists many reinforced variants. They include reinforced crates, logs, stripped logs, concrete colours, metal and gem blocks, froglights and waxed copper blocks. The sources don't say how you get them, so check the recipe viewer in-game.[4]
Pack-added Create processing
This pack adds Create recipes for some Chipped blocks. Reinforced logs such as Reinforced Oak Log can go through Create cutting to become their stripped versions, and the recipe also gives tree bark. The pack has the same kind of recipe for acacia, birch, cherry, dark oak, jungle, mangrove, oak and spruce.[3]
Cutting (create)
Recipe id: create:cutting/runtime_generated/compat/chipped/reinforced_oak_log_to_reinforced_stripped_oak_log

Create cutting also makes Nailed Acacia Planks and Nailed Birch Planks from a generated tag of matching blocks.[3]

How do you progress through Chipped?
4 parts
Chipped in this pack is a set of workbenches plus a few tools made from them. The sources I have give recipes rather than a quest path, so this section follows the crafting chain: the benches first, then the tools you make from them.[3]
Workbenches the pack changed
The pack changed the recipes of the Carpenters Table, the Glassblower, the Mason Table and the Tinkering Table from the mod's own. If you remember different recipes from another modpack, trust these ones.[3]

Workbenches at mod defaults
The Alchemy Bench, Botanist Workbench and Loom Table are listed as plain mod recipes, so the pack leaves them as the mod made them.[3]

Tools made from the benches
The next step up is a tool built from one of the benches. The Saw comes from the Carpenters Table, and the pack changed that recipe too.[3]
The Chisel is where the pack made its biggest tweak. The pack removes the mod's own chisel recipe and replaces it with its own, so crafting the Chisel does not consume the Mason Table. You keep the bench and get the tool.[3][5]
Pack recipe: the Mason Table is returned after crafting.
The remaining tools are plain mod recipes, shown below: Needles, Multimeter, Watering Can and Alchemy Book.[3]
Create processing the pack adds
The pack also adds Create recipes for some Chipped blocks. Cutting a nailed plank variant gives 6 of the matching planks, for example Nailed Oak Planks. The same goes for Smooth Crimson Planks and Smooth Warped Planks.[3]
Cutting (create)
- any compat chipped nailed oak runtime generated
Recipe id: create:cutting/runtime_generated/compat/create/tag_runtime_generated/compat/chipped/nailed_oak_to_nailed_oak_planks
Cutting a reinforced log, such as Reinforced Oak Log, gives the stripped version, here Reinforced Stripped Oak Log, plus Tree Bark. The cutting recipes in the sources cover Oak, Spruce, Birch, Jungle, Acacia, Dark Oak, Mangrove and Cherry.[3]
Cutting (create)
Recipe id: create:cutting/runtime_generated/compat/chipped/reinforced_oak_log_to_reinforced_stripped_oak_log
Sandpaper polishing is also added by the pack: Crying Obsidian becomes Polished Crying Obsidian, and Mud Bricks becomes Polished Mud Bricks.[3]

How does Chipped work with other mods?
2 parts
In this pack, Chipped connects to other mods through recipes only. You can strip Chipped's reinforced logs with Create, and you can turn Chipped's tables into Sophisticated Backpacks upgrades.[3]
Create: stripping reinforced logs
The pack adds a Create cutting recipe for every reinforced log type: acacia, birch, cherry, dark oak, jungle, mangrove, oak and spruce. Cutting a reinforced log gives you its stripped version plus Tree Bark from Farmer's Delight. For example, Reinforced Oak Log becomes Reinforced Stripped Oak Log.[3]
Cutting (create)
Recipe id: create:cutting/runtime_generated/compat/chipped/reinforced_oak_log_to_reinforced_stripped_oak_log
The oak recipe as an example. The other wood types follow the same pattern and are also added by the pack.
Sophisticated Backpacks: portable Chipped tables
Every Chipped table has a matching Sophisticated Backpacks upgrade, so you can carry the table with you in a backpack. The recipes for these upgrades are marked as changed by the pack, so don't assume the Sophisticated Backpacks default applies.[3]
- Chipped: Alchemy Bench Upgrade is made from the Alchemy Bench.[3]
- Chipped: Botanist's Workbench Upgrade is made from the Botanist Workbench.[3]
- Chipped: Carpenters Workbench Upgrade is made from the Carpenters Table.[3]
- Chipped: Glassblower Upgrade is made from the Glassblower.[3]
- Chipped: Loom Table Upgrade is made from the Loom Table.[3]
- Chipped: Mason Table Upgrade is made from the Mason Table.[3]
- Chipped: Tinkering Table Upgrade is made from the Tinkering Table.[3]

What changed in Chipped between versions?
1 part
FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 ships with Chipped version 4.0.2, and the mod has been in the pack since FTB StoneBlock 4 1.0.0 or earlier. That means you've had Chipped from the start of the pack's life.[6]
Chipped 4.0.2
- A bug with crafting was fixed.[7]
- A new JEI feature was added.[7]
- Automatic REI grouping was added.[7]
The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod, so there is nothing more to report on how Chipped changed between pack releases. Only the 4.0.2 changelog is available for the mod's own history.[6][7]
