Ars Nouveau is a mod in FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.13.0, where it is version 5.13.2. Craft spells and construct magical automations (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)
Stuck? Why it might not be working
- Not enough source nearbyIn All the Mods 10 8.2, Ars Nouveau 5.13.1, Not enough source nearby means the loaded source jars in Manhattan range 10 add up to less than the recipe's source cost. The apparatus does not draw from one jar. One full jar is 10,000, which covers every enchantment the mod ships, and it does not cover the pack's alloy block at 90,000.Written for other versions than FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.13.0 ships. What is Ars Nouveau?
1 part
Ars Nouveau is a magic mod inspired by Ars Magicka. You craft your own spells, make magical artifacts, perform rituals, power magical machines and automate your base with magical servants. This pack ships version 5.13.1, and the mod's own documentation is built into the game as a Patchouli guide.[1][2]
Where it sits in the quest book
The pack's quest book gives Ars Nouveau its own chapter, also called "Ars Nouveau", in the "Magic Mods" group. It is chapter 16 of 31 in the book and holds 63 quests.[3]
- "Welcome To Ars Nouveau!" quest asks for the Novice Spell Book. "Upgrading Our Spell Book" quest (the Mage's Spell Book) and "Arcanist's Delight" quest both come after it.[3]
- "Imbuement Chamber" quest (the Imbuement Chamber) comes after a quest called "Magical Trees...". That quest also comes before "The Scribe's Table" quest and "Restoring Mana" quest.[3]
- After the Imbuement Chamber you get "Source" quest (the Source Jar), "Sourcestone" quest and "Imbued Essences" quest.[3]
- The Sourcelink quests come after Source: "Alchemical Sourcelink" quest, "Mycelial Sourcelink" quest, "Volcanic Sourcelink" quest, "Agronomic Sourcelink" quest and "Vitalic Sourcelink" quest. "Transferring Source" quest also follows Source, and "Warping Source" quest follows that.[3]
- "Rituals" quest (the Ritual Brazier) and "The Enchanting Apparatus" quest both come after Sourcestone. "Tablet of Containment" quest follows Rituals, and "Cheaper Spells!" quest follows the Enchanting Apparatus.[3]
- The glyph quests "Useful Tier 1 Glyphs" quest, "Useful Tier 2 Glyphs" quest and "Useful Tier 3 Glyphs" quest all come after "The Scribe's Table" quest.[3]
- "Familiar Beds" quest comes after a quest called "More Control", and "Warp Scroll" quest comes after one called "Transcribing Our Spells".[3]
That covers only part of the chapter. The text of 38 of its 63 quests is not shown here, so check the quest book for the rest.[3]
How do you get started with Ars Nouveau?
7 parts
Ars Nouveau is all about spells, and the pack's quest book (chapter "Ars Nouveau", in the Magic Mods group) walks you through them in a sensible order. Here is the route I'd follow, starting with "Welcome To Ars Nouveau!" quest.[3]
Your first spell book
Start with the Novice Spell Book. It lets you create, store and cast Tier 1 spells, and it comes with a few basic glyphs already learned so you can build a first spell right away. The mod's advancement line begins with a Tattered Tome, so that is your starting point.[3][4]
One in-pack way to make the Novice Spell Book.
Source Gems from the Imbuement Chamber
Next, make an Imbuement Chamber. You don't need a way to generate Source yet, because the chamber slowly gathers some by itself. Put a piece of Lapis inside and wait until the progress hits 100% to get a Source Gem. Source Gems are one of the main crafting materials in the mod. See "Imbuement Chamber" quest.[3]
Scribe's Table and glyphs
The Scribe's Table is where you learn and craft new glyphs. Right-click it with your spell book in hand, pick a glyph, and the bottom of the menu shows what it needs. The quest suggests Amplify as your first one. Glyphs are tiered, and the Novice book only casts Tier 1. Details are in "The Scribe's Table" quest.[3]
Upgrade the book
The Mage's Spell Book unlocks Tier 2 spells and raises your mana pool. This pack changes its upgrade recipe from the mod's, and the quest says it needs only vanilla items. See "Upgrading Our Spell Book" quest.[3][5]

Sourcestone and the Enchanting Apparatus
Source Gems make Sourcestone, a decorative block that is also a key crafting material. You'll use it to build Arcane Pedestal blocks, which feed several Imbuement Chamber and Enchanting Apparatus recipes. See "Sourcestone" quest.[3]

The Enchanting Apparatus needs an Arcane Core underneath it and several pedestals within 3 blocks. The pack changes the Arcane Core recipe. Some apparatus recipes also need Source Jars within 3 blocks. See "The Enchanting Apparatus" quest.[3][5]

Source storage and the Dominion Wand
Source powers most of the mod. Make a Source Jar to store it and a Sourcelink to generate it. A jar placed near a Sourcelink slowly fills up, and Source Relay blocks move Source between blocks. See "Source" quest.[3]
The Dominion Wand is the mod's wrench: you use it to link Source between blocks and to control familiars. The pack changes its recipe, and it is covered in "More Control" quest.[3][5]

Cheaper spells
The quest book calls the Ring of Lesser Discount one of the best things to make at the start of your Ars journey. It lowers your spell mana cost by 10 while worn in the ring slot and gives a little max mana and regen. The Ring of Greater Discount raises that to 20. Both come after the Enchanting Apparatus in "Cheaper Spells!" quest.[3]
Beyond this point the chapter branches into Sourcelinks, rituals, familiars and armor. 19 of its 63 quests are not covered here, so check the quest book for those.[3]
How does Ars Nouveau work?
6 parts
Ars Nouveau is a spell-crafting magic mod that also lets you power magical machines and automate your base with magical servants. In this pack most of the numbers behind that are the mod's own defaults, but a few recipes and one glyph value were changed, and I'll flag those as we go. The mod's documentation is the in-game Patchouli notebook, and the pages the sources show for it contain only titles, so the details below come from the pack's configs, recipes and scripts.[1]
Mana: the budget for every spell
Spells cost mana. In this pack your base maximum is 100 and your base regen is 5. Each glyph in your book adds up to 15 max mana and 0.33 regen, and the book's tier adds up to 50 max mana and 1 regen. A mana boost gives 25 per level, and the mana regen enchantment gives 2 per second per level. These values are all the mod's defaults, and the game recalculates them every 5 ticks.[6]
Potions add 10 regen per potion level, which is set in the startup config. That config also keeps shady villagers enabled: one can be converted by placing an Arcane Core near a villager.[7]
The Amulet of Mana Boost recipe was changed by the pack, so don't trust old wiki recipes for it. This is the version you craft here:[5]
Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)
Dull Trinket
3× Diamond
- 5× any source gem
Recipe id: ars_nouveau:amulet_of_mana_boost
Some items also spend mana directly. The Ring of Jumping uses 30 mana per jump.[8]
Glyph costs and spell limits
Every glyph has its own config file with a cost, a tier, a per-spell limit and a starter flag. The only starter glyphs in the files I can see are Touch (cost 5), Self (cost 10) and Projectile (cost 10, with a projectile lifespan of 60 seconds). The per-spell limit is 2,147,483,647 for almost everything, which is effectively no limit.[9][10][11]
- Amplify costs 20 (tier 1). AOE costs 35, Pierce costs 40 and Fortune costs 80 (all tier 2).[12][13][14][15]
- Extract costs 30, Extend Time costs 10, Duration Down costs 15, Accelerate costs 10 and Decelerate costs 5 (all tier 2).[16][17][18][19][20]
- Dampen and Randomize cost 0.[21][22]
- Split costs 20 and Orbit costs 50 (both tier 3). Linger costs 500 and can only appear once per spell.[23][24][25]
- Rewind (tier 3) costs 100. It rewinds 40 ticks before augments, and entities track up to 60 ticks of motion and health for it.[26]
Delay has a base duration of 20 ticks, and its Duration Down augment removes 10 ticks per use. A Randomize augment on Delay changes the duration by 25% of the base.[4][27]
Spell casting enforces both the augment cap and the glyph-per-spell limit. The infinite spells option is off, and if you ever turn it on the spell length limit is 30.[6]
Glyph configs also hold augment rules. For example, Pantomime allows Dampen only once. Glyphs not covered here, like Break or Smelt, have their numbers in their own files in config/ars_nouveau, such as glyph_break.toml and glyph_smelt.toml.[27][28]
How augments change a glyph
- On Break, Extract applies silk touch, Fortune applies fortune, AOE widens the radius, Pierce adds depth, and Sensitive breaks with shears instead of a pickaxe.[4]
- On Burst, AOE raises the target radius, Dampen targets an empty sphere, and Sensitive targets blocks instead of entities.[4]
- Delay's Randomize changes its duration by 25% of the base.[4]

The Arcane Platform is a shapeless conversion of an Arcane Pedestal. It can be placed in any direction and works in place of a pedestal.[4][5]
The Ritual Brazier Relay is made in the Enchanting Apparatus from a Ritual Brazier:[5]

An Annotated Codex costs 10 per glyph stored in it, set by item.codexCost.[5][6]
The pack also adds its own way to unlock glyphs. Right-clicking one of the pack's three Codex Glyph items (ftb:codex_glyph_1, _2 and _3) teaches you a random glyph you don't know yet. Each codex has its own weighted pool, so the higher tiers include glyphs like Blink, Wall and Lightning. The pools include Ars Elemental glyphs too. If you already know every glyph in the pool, you get 55 experience instead.[29]
Source, relays and automation
Two source-related recipes were changed by the pack. These are the pack's versions of the Agronomic Sourcelink and the Dominion Wand:[5]

Storage Lectern linking range is 30 blocks. Each Bookwyrm can support up to 8 inventories on a lectern.[6][8]
The familiars that produce resources have their costs set in the common config. Drygmys consume 1,000 source per generation, need 20 channels before they produce loot, and make 1 base item per cycle. They add up to 5 items from nearby entities, plus 2 per unique mob. Whirlisprigs use 250 mana per generation and need 250 progress to create resources. Alakarkinos consume 1,000 per generation. All of these are the mod's defaults.[8]
The Potion Melder takes 200 potion from each input jar, where 100 equals one potion. It outputs 100 per cycle and uses 300 source per cycle. The enchanted flask caps potion levels at 255.[8]
Other pack rules
- Warp portals are enabled.[6]
- The Wilden Hunter, Stalker and Defender don't attack animals, and the Chimera's dive bomb does destroy blocks. The Guardian, Hunter and Stalker Wilden dens are all enabled, and they generate with a spacing of 36 and a separation of 10.[8][30][31]
- Lightning bolts, including the Ars Nouveau one (ars_nouveau:an_lightning), run Lychee lightning channeling recipes on item entities within 1 block of the strike.[32]
How do you progress through Ars Nouveau?
6 parts
Ars Nouveau progression in this pack follows its quest book. The Getting Started quest "Making Magic!" quest comes after Proper Materials and, once you have iron, points you to the Ars Nouveau chapter. That chapter sits in the Magic Mods group (chapter 16 of 31 in the book) and has 63 quests.[3][33]
Tier 1: the Novice Spell Book
"Welcome To Ars Nouveau!" quest asks for the Novice Spell Book. The quest says it lets you create, store and cast Tier 1 spells, and that it comes with some basic glyphs already learned. "Creating Your First Spell" quest then walks you through the spell menu: hold the book and press C. With only the starting glyphs (the quest names Break and Harm) you can't yet break hard blocks like Obsidian. The quest says you need Augments for that, which means learning new glyphs.[3]
A second, alternate way to craft the Novice Spell Book.
Tier 2: the Mage's Spell Book
"Upgrading Our Spell Book" quest asks for the Mage's Spell Book. The quest says this upgrade lets you cast Tier 2 spells and increases your mana pool, and that this first upgrade only requires vanilla items. The upgrade recipe is one the pack has changed, so use the recipe below rather than what you remember from the base mod.[3][5]

Setting up your Source workstations
After your first spell, the chapter lists the quests for the machines that the rest of the mod builds on, roughly in this order:[3]
- "Magical Trees..." quest: you need an Archwood tree for the magical workstation. They are rarely found on void islands dense with magical energies, or you can buy them from a Market.[3]
- "Imbuement Chamber" quest: before you have a way to make Source, the quest says the Imbuement Chamber gathers some slowly on its own. You can use it to turn Lapis into a Source Gem.[3]
- "The Scribe's Table" quest: the Scribe's Table is where you research and craft glyphs. The quest notes that glyphs are tiered, and that a Novice Spell Book only casts Tier 1 glyphs.[3]
- "Source" quest: the quest describes the Source Jar as the way to store Source and a Sourcelink as the way to generate it. The chapter then has quests for the Alchemical, Mycelial, Volcanic, Agronomic and Vitalic Sourcelinks, plus Relays to move Source around.[3]
- "Sourcestone" quest: Source Gems are needed to create Sourcestone, and the quest has you use a few of them to craft several Arcane Pedestal blocks.[3]
- "The Enchanting Apparatus" quest: the quest says the Enchanting Apparatus needs an Arcane Core placed underneath it and several pedestals within 3 blocks. Some recipes also require Source, so you need Source Jars within 3 blocks as well.[3]

Glyph tiers
Glyphs are tiered, and your book decides which ones you can cast. The chapter has one quest per tier, each unlocked after the Scribe's Table: "Useful Tier 1 Glyphs" quest (for example Glyph Leap), "Useful Tier 2 Glyphs" quest (for example Glyph Accelerate and Glyph Explosion) and "Useful Tier 3 Glyphs" quest (for example Glyph Blink and Glyph Orbit).[3]

After the Rituals quest, "Tablet of Summon Wilden" quest is where the quest says you can get your first Wilden drops. It says several recipes need these, including upgrading to a Tier 3 Spell Book. "Wilden Tribute" quest then has you augment the same ritual with 1 Wing, 1 Horn and 1 Spike to summon the Wilden Chimera, which the quest calls the boss of Ars Nouveau.[3]
"The Archmage Spell Book" quest comes after the Wilden Tribute and asks for the Archmage Spell Book. The quest says you need to have defeated the Wilden Chimera to craft and use the highest tier spells, and that the upgrade uses the Wilden Tribute plus some other vanilla end game materials. "Marks of Mastery" quest also comes after the Tribute. The quest says Marks of Mastery are made in the Enchanting Apparatus by enchanting the Wilden Tribute with each type of essence, that you get 4 per craft, and that they upgrade your mage armor to the highest tier.[3]
Armor tiers
Armor starts with "Magical Seeds" quest, which has you make Magebloom Seed and harvest it for Magebloom Fiber. The seed recipe is shown below.[3]

"Making Alterations" quest then adds the Alteration Table for threads. Three base sets follow, all after Making Alterations: "Arcanist Set" quest (the quest calls it the middle ground), "Battlemage Set" quest (highest base defense, fewer high-tier thread slots when upgraded) and "Sorcerer Set" quest (many more high-tier thread slots when upgraded).[3]
One piece of the Arcanist Set, crafted at the Enchanting Apparatus.
"Elemental Gear" quest comes after all three sets. The quest describes Elemental Armor as a direct upgrade to Tier 3 Ars armor that provides extra bonuses when you wear a full set.[3]
Other quests in the chapter, such as the Enchanter's gear, the familiars and the Source Relays, follow on from the Enchanting Apparatus and More Control quests. Check the quest book for the full list.[3]
How does Ars Nouveau work with other mods?
5 parts
Ars Nouveau doesn't stand alone in this pack. A lot of its items show up in recipes from addons and from completely different mods. In the quest book, the Ars Nouveau chapter sits in the "Magic Mods" group, as chapter 16 of 31.[3][5]
Ars Elemental and glyph addons
Ars Elemental armor builds on Ars Nouveau armor. The dump counts 48 armor upgrade recipes that take Ars Nouveau pieces and make Ars Elemental gear. Aethermancer's Boots, for example, upgrade your Arcanist's Treads.[5]
The pack changed the recipe for Mark of Mastery, and one craft gives you 4 of them. They are an ingredient in that armor upgrade, and the recipe is built from Ars Nouveau essences.[5]

Glyphs are another big crossover. The dump counts 29 Ars Elemental glyph recipes and 11 Not Enough Glyphs glyph recipes that use Ars Nouveau's glyph recipe type. Not Enough Glyphs also adds 8 recipes made at the Enchanting Apparatus, including threads like Air Focus. Other addons add glyphs too, such as Glyph Chaining and Glyph Flatten. Two of these recipes are shown below.[5]
Island rituals with Ars Caelum and GeOre
Ritual tablets that conjure islands tie Ars Nouveau logs such as the Vexing Archwood Log to other mods. The pack added the recipe for Conjure Island: Aluminum, shown below. The recipes for Conjure Island: Blazing and Conjure Island: Geode were changed by the pack. There are two groups of 25 recipes that make Ars Caelum items.[5]

Food with Farmer's Delight
The quest "Arcanist's Delight" quest comes after the welcome quest and is a simple checkmark. It introduces the Flavors & Delight addon, which uses Farmer's Delight to turn Ars fruits into drinks, meals and pies.[3]
The dump counts 16 cooking pot recipes that mix Ars Nouveau ingredients with the addon, including Bastion Pie. Wilden Horn can be cut with a shovel into Wilden Horn Powder.[5]

Machines, storage and power
- ME Source Converter connects Source to Applied Energistics 2 and is built on the Energy Acceptor. It is crafted at the Enchanting Apparatus, and the recipe is shown below.[5]
- The pack changed the recipe for Ender Source Jar, which also needs items from Integrated Dynamics and Irregular Implements.[5]
- The pack added a recipe for Creative Source Jar, the creative version of the Source Jar, which involves Creative Ascension. The recipe is shown below.[5]
- Mekanism can crush leaves into Bio Fuel, and the pack's recipe gives 2 per leaf. That includes Cascading Archwood Leaves.[5][34]
- The pack changed the recipe for the Shocking thread, and it now uses Bottle o' Lightning from Iron's Spellbooks.[5]
- Create can cut Stripped Flashing Archwood Wood into 6 Archwood Planks.[5]

Ars Nouveau's own lightning bolt counts as lightning for the Lychee lightning channeling recipes. Items lying right next to where it strikes get processed, just like with vanilla lightning.[32]
Which FTB Skies 2: Aero quests use Ars Nouveau?
7 parts
In the quest book, most Ars Nouveau quests are in the "Ars Nouveau" chapter. It sits in the Magic Mods group, as chapter 16 of 31 in the book, and has 63 quests.[3]
You get there from the Getting Started chapter. In the quest book, "Making Magic!" quest comes after "Proper Materials" quest (the iron ingot quest) and asks for the Novice Spell Book. Its text says that once you have iron you can make your first spellbook, and it sends you to the Ars Nouveau chapter to learn more.[33]
The opening of the chapter
- "Welcome To Ars Nouveau!" quest asks for the Novice Spell Book.[3]
- "Upgrading Our Spell Book" quest asks for the Mage's Spell Book. The quest says this first upgrade only requires vanilla items.[3]
- "Creating Your First Spell" quest is a checkmark quest that walks you through the spell menu. You hold a Spell Book, press C, and build a basic Projectile Break spell. The quest says that for now you only know Break and Harm, and that you can't break hard blocks like Obsidian just yet because that needs Augments from new Glyphs.[3]
- "Magical Trees..." quest is about getting an Archwood Tree for your workstation. Per the quest text, these may be rarely found on void islands or simply bought from a Market.[3]
"Magical Trees..." quest opens three quests: "Imbuement Chamber" quest (the Imbuement Chamber and a Source Gem), "The Scribe's Table" quest (the Scribe's Table) and "Restoring Mana" quest (a Sourceberry). The Imbuement Chamber quest says you have no way to make Source just yet, so the Chamber gathers some slowly on its own. Separately, "Arcanist's Delight" quest is a checkmark quest about the Ars Nouveau food addon, and it comes right after the first quest.[3]
Glyphs
Three glyph quests follow "The Scribe's Table" quest: "Useful Tier 1 Glyphs" quest, "Useful Tier 2 Glyphs" quest and "Useful Tier 3 Glyphs" quest. Each accepts one glyph from a list. Tier 2 offers Glyph Accelerate, Glyph Aoe, Glyph Extract, Glyph Fortune, Glyph Pierce, Glyph Explosion or Glyph Heal. Tier 3 offers Glyph Blink, Glyph Fangs, Glyph Glide or Glyph Orbit.[3]
Source and Sourcelinks
- "Source" quest (after the Imbuement Chamber quest) asks for the Source Jar.[3]
- Five Sourcelink quests follow it: "Alchemical Sourcelink" quest, "Mycelial Sourcelink" quest, "Volcanic Sourcelink" quest, "Agronomic Sourcelink" quest and "Vitalic Sourcelink" quest.[3]
- "Transferring Source" quest asks for the Source Relay. It leads to "Warping Source" quest, "Source Splitting" quest, "Source Deposits" quest and "Source Collection" quest, which ask for the Warper, Splitter, Depositor and Collector relays.[3]
- a quest in "Ars Nouveau" also comes after "Transferring Source" quest. It asks for the Source Condenser, an item from another mod (starbunclemania), and its text mentions Mekanism's Gas-Burning Generator.[3]
- "Sourcestone" quest asks for Sourcestone and an Arcane Pedestal. "Imbued Essences" quest asks for any one of the Imbuement Chamber essences.[3]
Rituals and the Enchanting Apparatus
Both of these open after "Sourcestone" quest. "Rituals" quest asks for the Ritual Brazier, and "The Enchanting Apparatus" quest asks for the Enchanting Apparatus and an Arcane Core.[3]
- After the Rituals quest come three tablet quests: "Tablet of Containment" quest (Containment), "Tablet of Summon Wilden" quest (Summon Wilden) and "Tablet of Awakening" quest (Awakening).[3]
- "Wilden Tribute" quest follows the Summon Wilden tablet. It leads to "The Archmage Spell Book" quest (the Archmage Spell Book) and "Marks of Mastery" quest, which asks for an item from the Ars Elemental mod.[3]
- After the Enchanting Apparatus quest come "Cheaper Spells!" quest (the discount rings), "Magical Belts!" quest (the belts), "Magic in a Jar" quest (the jars), "Magical Amulets" quest (the amulets), "Magical Seeds" quest (Magebloom) and "More Control" quest (the Dominion Wand).[3]
Familiars and automation
In the quest book, "More Control" quest comes before the familiar quests: "Whirlisprig Farming" quest, "Familiar Beds" quest, "Drygmy Farms" quest, "Magical Squirrels" quest, "Amethyst Farming" quest, "Wixie Autocrafting" quest and "Bookwryms and Magical Storage!" quest. "GeOre Golems!" quest comes after the Amethyst Farming quest.[3]
Armor and spell gear
- "Magical Seeds" quest leads to "Transcribing Our Spells" quest (Blank Parchment) and "Making Alterations" quest (the Alteration Table and Blank Thread).[3]
- After the Alteration Table quest come the armor sets: "Arcanist Set" quest, "Sorcerer Set" quest and "Battlemage Set" quest. "Elemental Gear" quest comes after all three of them.[3]
- After the parchment quest come "Warp Scroll" quest, "Basic Spell Turret" quest and the checkmark quest "Magical Equipment" quest. That last one leads to the equipment quests: "Enchanter's Bow & Crossbow" quest, "Enchanter's Fishing Rod" quest, "Enchanter's Shield" quest, "Enchanter's Wand" quest, "Enchanter's Sword" quest, "Enchanter's Mirror" quest and "Enchanter's Gauntlet" quest.[3]
Elsewhere in the quest book
The Aeronautics chapter (Main Questline, chapter 5 of 31, 58 quests) mentions the mod once in the text we have. "Aero Portals" quest is a checkmark quest that comes after "Going Places", and it lists Ars Nouveau portals among the portals a ship can fly through. The other 56 quests in that chapter are in the quest book.[36]
Which Ars Nouveau config options matter?
4 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Most of the Ars Nouveau options for this pack sit at the mod default. In the config files I can see, only one option is flagged as changed by the pack. Everything below is the pack's actual value, and I'll say so whenever it differs from the default.[37][38][39][40][41]
The one value the pack changed
The Delay glyph's extend time (general.extend_time) is 0.25 seconds in this pack. The mod default is 1.[37]
The rest of Delay is untouched: base duration is 20 ticks (general.base_duration) and randomize chance is 0.25 (general.randomize_chance), both at the mod default.[37]
Mana settings
The mana values listed below match the mod default in this pack.[40][41]
- Base max mana: 100 (mana.baseMax).[40]
- Base regen: 5 (mana.baseRegen).[40]
- Max mana bonus per glyph: 15 (mana.glyphmax), and regen bonus per glyph: 0.33 (mana.glyphRegen).[40]
- Book tier bonus: 50 max mana (mana.tierMax) and 1 regen (mana.tierRegen).[40]
- Mana Boost is 25 per level (mana.manaBoost), and the mana regen enchantment gives 2 per second per level (mana.manaRegenEnchantment).[40]
- Potions give a regen bonus of 10 per potion level (mana.potionRegen).[41]
Spell limits
The server config enforces both the augment cap (spell_casting.enforceCapOnCast) and the glyph-per-spell limit (spell_casting.enforceGlyphLimitOnCast) when you cast. Infinite spell length (spell_length.infiniteSpells) is off. If someone turns it on, the extra length is 30 (spell_length.infiniteSpellLimit).[40]
A few glyph files also carry their own restrictions:[42][43][44][45][46]
- Burst costs 500, can appear only once per spell, and can't share a spell with Wall or Linger.[43]
- Cold Snap is limited to 2 Amplify and 1 AOE augments.[44]
- Crush and Cut are each limited to 2 Amplify augments.[45][46]
- Break is a starter glyph and limits Fortune to 4.[42]
Client and world options
Dynamic lights are switched off in the client config (lights.lightsEnabled).[38]
The held-item light levels are already filled in (lights.item_lights). For example, a torch is set to 14 and a lava bucket to 15.[38]
Warp portals are enabled (warp_portals.enableWarpPortals). Caster Tomes can spawn in dungeon loot (item.spawnTomes). You don't get a book on login, because general.spawnBook is false.[39][40]
What changed in Ars Nouveau between versions?
3 parts
FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.10.0 ships Ars Nouveau 5.13.1, and the mod has been in the pack since Aero 1.0.3 or earlier. Below are the notable changes from the mod's own changelogs for the most recent releases, up to the version you're playing.[2]
5.13.1 (the version in this pack)
- Projectiles now keep their momentum when they pass through spell prisms.[47]
- Caster tome names and flavor text are now translatable entries, and the documentation gets more relations added.[47]
- Fixed a crash when glyph recipes had more than 10 items.[47]
- Fixed abjuration essence not clearing prestidigitation.[47]
- Fixed a jagged animation on items floating above the scribes table.[47]
5.13.0
- The spell particles screen has a new preview button, so you can see your currently selected effects and sounds before committing.[48]
- New Drygmy and Starbuncle painting blocks.[48]
- Better performance with automated enchanting apparatus setups.[48]
- Fixed world loading with Biolith, bubbles wrongly targeting Create contraptions, and warp portal particles spawning in the wrong location.[48]
