What is GeOre?
1 part
GeOre adds Geore shards and budding Geore blocks for a long list of resources. This pack ships GeOre 6.0.8 for Minecraft 1.21.1. If you like building automated resource setups instead of strip-mining, this mod is for you.[1][2]
Where it shows up in progression
GeOre has its own spot in the pack's questbook, in the resource_generation chapter. Three quests there ask you to get a shard and a budding Geore, and each task accepts any one item from its list.[2]
- The basic metals and minerals quest asks for a shard such as Iron GeOre Shard, Gold GeOre Shard, Copper GeOre Shard, Coal GeOre Shard, Redstone GeOre Shard, Lapis GeOre Shard, Nickel GeOre Shard, Tin GeOre Shard or Lead GeOre Shard. a quest in "?"[2]
- One quest asks for a shard from Black Quartz GeOre Shard, Tungsten GeOre Shard or Monazite GeOre Shard, plus the matching budding block, such as Budding Black Quartz GeOre, Budding Tungsten GeOre or Budding Monazite GeOre. a quest in "?"[2]
- The widest quest covers shards like Diamond GeOre Shard, Emerald GeOre Shard, Quartz GeOre Shard, Ancient Debris GeOre Shard, Uranium GeOre Shard, Silver GeOre Shard, Aluminum GeOre Shard, Osmium GeOre Shard, Zinc GeOre Shard and Platinum GeOre Shard, plus a matching budding block such as Budding Diamond GeOre or Budding Platinum GeOre. a quest in "?"[2]
GeOre also appears early on. A quest in the the_beginning chapter lists Budding Diamond GeOre among its diamond-related tasks, next to plain diamonds and other diamond sources. a quest in "?"[3]
Unverified The sources I have don't describe how budding Geores grow, how shards are harvested, or whether the pack changed any GeOre recipes or configs, so check in-game before relying on those details. This site does hold FTB Skies 2's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How do you get started with GeOre?
4 parts
In this pack, GeOre is built around ore shards and "budding" blocks. Here is the order I'd take things in, based on what the pack's recipes and quests show.[2][4]
Start with the basic shards
The first quest of the resource_generation chapter, a quest in "?", asks for any one of the simple shards: Iron GeOre Shard, Gold GeOre Shard, Copper GeOre Shard, Coal GeOre Shard, Redstone GeOre Shard, Lapis GeOre Shard, Nickel GeOre Shard, Tin GeOre Shard or Lead GeOre Shard. It unlocks after an earlier quest in that chapter, so these shards are the natural starting point.[2]
Craft a spyglass
The pack changed the spyglass recipes. A Copper GeOre Shard gets you the Copper GeOre Spyglass, and the recipe below is the exact in-pack version.[4]

The pack also changed the recipes for the Coal GeOre Spyglass, Diamond GeOre Spyglass, Aluminum GeOre Spyglass, Black Quartz GeOre Spyglass and Ancient Debris GeOre Spyglass.[4]

Learn the shard and block recipes
The pack adds recipes that turn shards into a GeOre block and back again. You can compress shards into a block to store them, or split a block back into shards whenever you need them.[4]

Work towards budding GeOre
Budding blocks are the goal of the later resource_generation quests. a quest in "?" asks for a shard and the matching budding block for diamond, emerald, quartz, ancient debris, uranium, silver, aluminum, osmium, zinc or platinum. a quest in "?" does the same for black quartz, tungsten and monazite. Both unlock after earlier quests in the chapter.[2]
A quest in the_beginning chapter, a quest in "?", also asks for Budding Diamond GeOre alongside a diamond, a diamond mesh and diamond seeds. So budding diamond is an early target, and the pack adds a casting recipe for it:[3][4]
Block Casting (productivemetalworks)
Void Crystal Catalyst
- 900× any molten diamond
Recipe id: ftb:productive_metalworks/budding_diamond_casting
Added by the pack.
Other budding blocks have their own pack recipes. Budding Ancient Debris GeOre is cast from budding diamond. Budding Osmium GeOre has an AE2 transform recipe, and Budding Monazite GeOre comes from a Modern Industrialization mixer recipe.[4]

- any molten ender

Unverified My sources don't say where the first shards come from, how to grow shards on a budding block, or which ores generate naturally in this pack. Check in-game or in the quest book before relying on any of that.
How does GeOre work?
4 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.10.2 guide
GeOre is a much simpler mod than most of what you'll meet in modded Minecraft. The sources for this pack only document ore-themed shards and blocks, a set of world-generation switches, one piston-related option and a client-side spyglass overlay. They describe no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or automation, so this section covers only what is confirmed.[5][6][7]
Shards and blocks
Each GeOre type has a shard and a storage block, for example Coal GeOre Shard and Block Of Coal GeOre. In this pack, crafting recipes convert between the two, and they are marked as added by the pack: a shaped recipe turns shards into a block, and a shapeless recipe turns a block back into shards.[7]
Crafting Shaped

Recipe id: ftb:geore/shaped/coal_block

A block back into shards, also added by the pack.
The recipes shown follow the same pattern for other types, such as Diamond GeOre Shard, Emerald GeOre Shard, Copper GeOre Shard and Zinc GeOre Shard. Part of the recipe list was cut off in the data available here.[7]
World generation switches
The common config has one on/off option per GeOre type, plus one for budding ancient debris. By the mod's defaults, coal, copper, diamond, emerald, gold, iron, lapis, quartz, quartz in the Nether, redstone and budding ancient debris all generate. The modded types, such as tin, lead, silver and osmium, default to off.[5]
This pack changes that. Every generation option in the common config is set to false, including those that default to true, such as General.generateDiamondGeore, General.generateIronGeore and General.generateBuddingAncientDebris. The modded options under ModdedGeneration, such as ModdedGeneration.generateTinGeore, are false too. So the pack's config does not generate any GeOre naturally.[5][6]
Budding GeOre and pistons
The option General.disablePistonPushForBuddingGeOre is described as overriding the vanilla behavior of breaking the block when it is pushed. Its default is false, and the pack leaves it at false, so the option is not active in this pack.[5][6]
Spyglass overlay
Client.spyglassIntensity sets the intensity of the spyglass color overlay, where 0.5 means 50%. The pack uses the mod default of 0.5, and the allowed range is 0.01 to 1.0.[5][8]
How do you progress through GeOre?
4 parts
GeOre doesn't have formal tiers of its own in this pack. The progression comes from the quest chapter on resource generation, which splits the geodes into three groups. Below I call them stages, based on what each quest asks for and which earlier quest it follows.[2]
Stage 1: basic metals and minerals
a quest in "?" only asks for shards. You hand in any one of these: Iron GeOre Shard, Gold GeOre Shard, Copper GeOre Shard, Coal GeOre Shard, Redstone GeOre Shard, Lapis GeOre Shard, Nickel GeOre Shard, Tin GeOre Shard or Lead GeOre Shard. It has no budding geode task, so you don't need a budding block yet.[2]
Stage 2: gems and advanced metals
a quest in "?" steps it up. It has two tasks: one shard and one budding geode, each from a list. The shard can be diamond, emerald, quartz, ancient debris, uranium, silver, aluminum, osmium, zinc or platinum. The budding block can be any of the matching ones, for example Budding Diamond GeOre or Budding Platinum GeOre. This quest unlocks after the same earlier quest as the other two, plus one more.[2]
The pack adds a recipe for every budding geode on that list. Most are made with Productive Metalworks block casting using the matching molten material. Here is the diamond one:[2][4]
Block Casting (productivemetalworks)
Void Crystal Catalyst
- 900× any molten diamond
Recipe id: ftb:productive_metalworks/budding_diamond_casting
Budding ancient debris builds on budding diamond rather than starting from scratch, so do diamond first. Its recipe is a casting recipe too.[4]
Block Casting (productivemetalworks)
Budding Diamond GeOre
- 810× any molten netherite
Recipe id: ftb:productive_metalworks/budding_ancient_debris_casting
Budding osmium has a second route besides casting: an AE2 transform recipe added by the pack.[4]
Transform (ae2)
Primordial Assembly
4× Obsidian Dust
Block of Silver
- any molten ender
Recipe id: ftb:ae2/transform/budding_osmium
Stage 3: black quartz, tungsten and monazite
a quest in "?" asks for one shard and one budding geode from a short list: Black Quartz GeOre Shard, Tungsten GeOre Shard or Monazite GeOre Shard, plus Budding Black Quartz GeOre, Budding Tungsten GeOre or Budding Monazite GeOre. Of these, only budding monazite has a recipe in the pack data I have, and it comes from a Modern Industrialization mixer.[2][4]
Mixer (modern_industrialization)
Recipe id: ftb:budding_monazite_from_dusts
Unverified I couldn't confirm from the pack data how to get budding black quartz or budding tungsten, or how to get the basic metal shards in stage 1 and the other shards. No recipe for them turned up in the sources.
Beyond the quests
a quest in "?", in the opening chapter, lists Budding Diamond GeOre as one of its item tasks, alongside a plain diamond, a diamond mesh and diamond seeds. So you'll bump into GeOre very early in the pack.[3]
The pack also adds storage recipes that work in both directions. Shards pack into a block, and a block turns back into shards. This covers ruby and sapphire as well, which have no quest.[4]
Crafting Shapeless
Recipe id: ftb:geore/shapeless/diamond_shard
The pack changes the spyglass recipes too. Each spyglass is made from its own shard, such as Diamond GeOre Spyglass, and a copper ingot. Topaz and uraninite have spyglasses as well, even though the quests never mention them.[4]

How does GeOre work with other mods?
3 parts
GeOre doesn't live on its own in this pack. The pack adds recipes that turn Geore shards into materials from other mods, and recipes that let you make budding Geore blocks with machines from other mods. Here's how it all connects.[4]
Shards into other mods' materials
Several shards can be cooked in either a furnace or a blast furnace, using recipes the pack added. The results come from other mods: Black Quartz from the Black Quartz shard, Topaz from the Topaz shard, and Uraninite from the Uraninite shard. The pack's own materials come out too: Monazite Dust, Sapphire Gem and Tungsten Ingot.[4]
The blasting version works the same way, and the other shards listed above have matching smelting and blasting recipes.
The Coal GeOre Shard has a Modern Industrialization use. It can go into the advanced coke oven, which gives you Coal Coke Gem and Creosote Oil.[4]
Advanced Coke Oven (modern_industrialization)
Recipe id: modern_industrialization:kjs/2l5eemnix8z1abq8bj0jn40tj
Making budding Geore with other mods
Most of the pack's budding blocks come from Productive Metalworks block casting. Each recipe uses Void Crystal Catalyst with a molten metal or gem. Recipes exist for aluminum, diamond, emerald, osmium, platinum, quartz, silver, uranium and zinc.[4]
Block Casting (productivemetalworks)
Void Crystal Catalyst
- 900× any molten diamond
Recipe id: ftb:productive_metalworks/budding_diamond_casting
The other casting recipes follow the same pattern with a different molten fluid.
Budding Osmium GeOre has a second route through an Applied Energistics 2 transform recipe added by the pack.[4]
Transform (ae2)
Primordial Assembly
4× Obsidian Dust
Block of Silver
- any molten ender
Recipe id: ftb:ae2/transform/budding_osmium
Budding Monazite GeOre can also be made in a Modern Industrialization mixer.[4]
Mixer (modern_industrialization)
Recipe id: ftb:budding_monazite_from_dusts
Unverified The emerald casting recipe lists its molten fluid tag with an unusual spelling (dmolten_emerald instead of molten_emerald), so check in-game that it accepts the fluid you expect.
Unverified Two Lychee item-exploding recipes use the void crystal catalyst together with a budding Black Quartz or budding Tungsten Geore block (plus black quartz or tungsten dust). The recipe data doesn't show what they output, so what they do is unconfirmed.
Quests
The resource_generation quest chapter follows the same split between shards and budding blocks. a quest in "?" covers the black quartz, tungsten and monazite shards and their budding blocks. a quest in "?" covers the diamond, emerald, quartz, ancient debris, uranium, silver, aluminum, osmium, zinc and platinum shards and their budding blocks. a quest in "?" covers the more common shards: iron, gold, copper, coal, redstone, lapis, nickel, tin and lead.[2]
In the_beginning chapter, a quest in "?" puts Budding Diamond GeOre next to a plain diamond, a diamond mesh and Mystical Agriculture diamond seeds. So the pack presents budding Geore as one of several ways to get diamonds.[3]
Which FTB Skies 2 quests use GeOre?
2 parts
GeOre shows up in the resource_generation chapter, where most of its quests live, and in a single quest in the_beginning chapter. None of these quests has a title in the quest files, so they are listed by their quest refs.[2][3]
The resource_generation chapter
All the GeOre quests here unlock after the same earlier quest. The tasks are written as item lists with "or" between the items, so each task accepts any one item from its list.[2]
- a quest in "?" is the simplest. It has a single item task covering the basic shards: Iron GeOre Shard, Gold GeOre Shard, Copper GeOre Shard, Coal GeOre Shard, Redstone GeOre Shard, Lapis GeOre Shard, Nickel GeOre Shard, Tin GeOre Shard and Lead GeOre Shard. It has no budding geore task.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for a shard and then a budding block. The shard can be Black Quartz GeOre Shard, Tungsten GeOre Shard or Monazite GeOre Shard. The budding block can be Budding Black Quartz GeOre, Budding Tungsten GeOre or Budding Monazite GeOre.[2]
- a quest in "?" is the biggest and also asks for a shard and a budding block. The shard task accepts Diamond GeOre Shard, Emerald GeOre Shard, Quartz GeOre Shard, Ancient Debris GeOre Shard, Uranium GeOre Shard, Silver GeOre Shard, Aluminum GeOre Shard, Osmium GeOre Shard, Zinc GeOre Shard or Platinum GeOre Shard.[2]
- The budding task of a quest in "?" accepts Budding Diamond GeOre, Budding Emerald GeOre, Budding Quartz GeOre, Budding Ancient Debris GeOre, Budding Uranium GeOre, Budding Silver GeOre, Budding Aluminum GeOre, Budding Osmium GeOre, Budding Zinc GeOre or Budding Platinum GeOre.[2]
- a quest in "?" is the only GeOre quest in the chapter with a second prerequisite, so you need both of its parent quests done before it opens.[2]
The_beginning chapter
One quest here, a quest in "?", involves GeOre. Its tasks are Diamond, Budding Diamond GeOre, Mechanical Diamond Mesh and Diamond Seeds, so the budding diamond geore is one of the items it asks you to have.[3]
Which GeOre config options matter?
3 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.1.1 guide
GeOre has a client config and a common config. The big thing to know is that this pack switches off the natural generation of every vanilla-ore GeOre, which is a change from the mod defaults. Everything else stays at the defaults.[9][10]
Generation toggles the pack turned off
In the General section of the common config, every generation option is set to false in this pack. The mod default for each of these is true, so this is a deliberate pack change.[10]
- General.generateCoalGeore, General.generateCopperGeore, General.generateIronGeore and General.generateGoldGeore are all false.[10]
- General.generateDiamondGeore, General.generateEmeraldGeore, General.generateLapisGeore and General.generateRedstoneGeore are all false.[10]
- General.generateQuartzGeore and General.generateQuartzInNetherGeore (the Nether version) are both false.[10]
- General.generateBuddingAncientDebris is false too, so budding ancient debris is not generated either.[10]
Modded ore generation
The ModdedGeneration section covers GeOres for ores from other mods. Its defaults are already false, and the pack leaves them false. That includes ModdedGeneration.generateTinGeore, ModdedGeneration.generateLeadGeore, ModdedGeneration.generateSilverGeore, ModdedGeneration.generateZincGeore, ModdedGeneration.generateOsmiumGeore, ModdedGeneration.generateUraniumGeore and the rest of the toggles in that section, such as aluminum, nickel, platinum, tungsten, ruby, sapphire and topaz.[10]
Options left at the mod default
- General.disablePistonPushForBuddingGeOre is false, the same as the default. When enabled, it overrides the vanilla behavior of breaking the block when it is pushed. With it off, that vanilla behavior is not overridden.[10]
- Client.spyglassIntensity is 0.5, which is 50% and the mod default. This controls the intensity of the spyglass color overlay, and the allowed range is 0.01 to 1.0.[9]
Unverified The sources only cover the config files, so how you obtain GeOres in this pack now that natural generation is off is not confirmed here.
