Pocket Storage in All the Mods 10

Pocket Storage adds simple handheld storage. Right-click a Pocket Storage Unit to open it, then put items inside.^[1]

How it works

• Each unit has a maximum number of items it can hold, and anything you put in past that limit is voided.^[1]
• It vacuums up items on the ground that match what's already stored inside it.^[1]
• You can quickly dump its contents into chests or pull items out of chests.^[1]
• Higher tiers give you more slots and a higher max item count.^[1]

Where it fits in this pack

All the Mods 10 8.1 ships Pocket Storage 1.2.5, and the mod has been in the pack since version 2.25 or earlier.^[2]

Pocket Storage is part of the ATM Star path in Chapter 3: The ATM Star. The "Pocket Storage" quest quest introduces the mod and asks you for a Pocket Storage Unit Tier: 1. After that, a quest in "Chapter 3: The ATM Star" asks for a Pocket Storage Unit Tier: 4.^[1]

Tier 4 is where the mod really shines. It has 64 slots that each hold 1,048,575 items, for a total of 67,108,800 items. The quest even jokes that backpacks have been replaced!^[1]

Unverified The exact controls for dumping into or pulling from chests, and the slot counts of the lower tiers, aren't covered by the available sources.

Pocket Storage adds simple handheld storage that you carry in your inventory. Right-click the item to open it, then put items inside. Higher tiers give you more slots and a higher maximum count for each item.^[1]

Each stored item has a maximum count, and anything you add past that limit is voided. The unit also vacuums up items on the ground that match something already stored in it. There are also ways to quickly dump its contents into chests or pull items out of chests.^[1][3]

Your first craft

Start with the Pocket Storage Unit Tier: 1. It's the entry point for the whole mod, because every higher tier is upgraded from the one below it. It's also the task for the "Pocket Storage" quest quest in the Chapter 3: The ATM Star quest chapter, so crafting one completes that quest.^[1][4]

Climbing the tiers

You don't craft the higher tiers from scratch. Each one uses an upgrade recipe that takes the previous tier's unit as an ingredient, so work your way up in order.^[4]

1. Upgrade your Pocket Storage Unit Tier: 1 into a Pocket Storage Unit Tier: 2.^[4]
2. Upgrade the Pocket Storage Unit Tier: 2 into a Pocket Storage Unit Tier: 3.^[4]
3. Upgrade the Pocket Storage Unit Tier: 3 into a Pocket Storage Unit Tier: 4.^[4]

The end goal

The Pocket Storage Unit Tier: 4 is the big payoff. It has 64 slots, and each slot holds 1,048,575 items, for 67,108,800 items in total. The quest even jokes that backpacks have been replaced! Crafting it completes the follow-up quest a quest in "Chapter 3: The ATM Star", which comes after the "Pocket Storage" quest quest. The quest also says it isn't expensive by modded standards for what you get.^[1]

Unverified The exact slot counts and per-item limits for Tiers 1 to 3, and the specific controls for dumping into or pulling from chests, could not be confirmed. Check the item tooltips in game for the numbers.

Pocket Storage is built around one item: the Pocket Storage Unit, a portable storage item that comes in four tiers, from Pocket Storage Unit Tier: 1 up to Pocket Storage Unit Tier: 4. There are no machines, multiblocks or power systems here. It's all about what the unit does while it sits in your inventory.^[3][4]

How storage works

Every tier works the same way. A unit holds a set number of different item types, and it can store up to a set amount of each type. The tooltip shows both limits for the unit you're holding, so check it when you pick one up.^[3]

Unverified The exact number of item types and the per-item limit for each tier could not be confirmed. The tooltip fills them in from values that aren't in the available sources. Check the in-game tooltip for the real numbers.

Auto-pickup and voiding

This is the unit's key trick. When you pick up items that match what's stored in it, the unit absorbs them automatically. That keeps your main inventory free of the blocks and drops you collect most while mining or building.^[3]

Tier progression

You craft Tier 1 with a normal shaped recipe. You don't craft Tiers 2, 3 and 4 from scratch. Each one uses a special upgrade recipe that takes the previous tier's unit as one of its inputs. So you climb the tiers by upgrading the unit you already have.^[4]

Upgrades a Tier 3 unit

Unverified It could not be confirmed whether items stored in a unit carry over when you upgrade it to the next tier. Empty it first if you're not sure. It's also unconfirmed how you get items back out, or whether hoppers, pipes or other automation can interact with the units.

Pocket Storage in this pack has four tiers of handheld storage: Pocket Storage Unit Tier: 1, Pocket Storage Unit Tier: 2, Pocket Storage Unit Tier: 3 and Pocket Storage Unit Tier: 4. Each tier you climb gives you more slots and a higher max item count per slot.^[1][4]

The path is a straight line. You craft Tier 1 from scratch, and every tier after that is an upgrade recipe that uses the unit from the tier below. So you'll build each tier in order instead of jumping straight to the top.^[4]

Following the quests

The pack's quests for this mod are in the "Chapter 3: The ATM Star" chapter. There are only two of them, one for the starting tier and one for the final tier.^[1]

1. Complete "Pocket Storage" quest by getting a Pocket Storage Unit Tier: 1. This quest introduces the mod: you right click the unit to open it and put items in, it vacuums up matching items from the ground, and you can quickly dump it into chests or pull from chests.^[1]
2. Once that's done, a quest in "Chapter 3: The ATM Star" unlocks and asks you for a Pocket Storage Unit Tier: 4. The quests don't include separate steps for Tier 2 or Tier 3, but you need both along the way because each upgrade uses the tier below.^[1][4]

Tier 1

Pocket Storage Unit Tier: 1 is your entry point and the only tier made with a normal shaped crafting recipe. You'll want one early, since it unlocks the rest of the quest line.^[1][4]

In All the Mods 10, Pocket Storage's biggest link to the rest of the pack is an endgame craft. The Tier 4 unit, Pocket Storage Unit Tier: 4, is an ingredient in a pack-added recipe for the Pulsating Black Hole.^[4]

The Pulsating Black Hole

The pack adds this recipe itself, so it isn't part of any single mod's default recipes. It pulls in parts from all over the pack. Your Tier 4 Pocket Storage Unit goes in alongside the ME Quantum Ring, Lightning Bomb, Explosive Mycelial Generator, Paradox Machine, Stable Wormhole, Manhattan Module, Micromissiles and Crystal Staff. Check the recipe below for the exact layout.^[4]

Where it shows up in the quests

Pocket Storage has its own quests in "Chapter 3: The ATM Star". The first one, "Pocket Storage" quest, asks you to get a Pocket Storage Unit Tier: 1. It explains that you right click the unit to open it and put items in. Each unit has a max count, and anything you put in past that gets voided.^[1]

The quest also says there are quick ways to dump a unit's contents into Chests or take items out of Chests. So your pocket storage works hand in hand with your regular chest storage.^[1]

The follow-up quest, a quest in "Chapter 3: The ATM Star", unlocks after that and asks for the Pocket Storage Unit Tier: 4. That's the same unit the Pulsating Black Hole needs. The quest says Tier 4 has 64 slots that each hold 1,048,575 items, for 67,108,800 items total, and that it only costs a few Nether Stars.^[1]

Unverified The pack's recipes and quests don't confirm whether Pocket Storage units can connect directly to storage networks like AE2, or whether pipes and other automation can access them.

Pocket Storage shows up in the quest book in Chapter 3: The ATM Star. It's a short, two-step path. You start with a basic unit and then work up to the big one, and each quest only asks you to get the item.^[1]

Chapter 3: The ATM Star

1. "Pocket Storage" quest: Get a Pocket Storage Unit Tier: 1. This quest introduces the mod as simple handheld storage. You right-click it to open it and put items inside.^[1]
2. a quest in "Chapter 3: The ATM Star": Unlocks after the Pocket Storage quest and asks for a Pocket Storage Unit Tier: 4. This is the high-end unit the chapter is building toward.^[1]

What the quests teach you

The first quest gives you the basics. Each unit has a maximum count it can hold, and it vacuums up items on the ground that match what's already inside. There are also ways to quickly dump its contents into chests or pull items out of chests.^[1]

Higher tiers give you more slots and a higher max item count. The second quest shows how far that goes. A Tier 4 unit has 64 slots, and each slot holds 1,048,575 items. That's 67,108,800 items total in something you carry in your pocket, which is why the quest jokes that backpacks have been replaced.^[1]

Unverified The sources don't say whether these quests give rewards, or whether other chapters in this pack involve Pocket Storage.

Pocket Storage has been in All the Mods 10 for a long time. It was first included in All the Mods 10 2.25 or earlier, so it's been around since the early days of the pack.^[2]

Timeline

• All the Mods 10 2.25 or earlier: Pocket Storage is first added to the pack.^[2]
• All the Mods 10 4.6: Pocket Storage is updated from version 1.2.4+1.21.1-b40 to 1.2.5.^[5]
• All the Mods 10 8.1: the pack still ships Pocket Storage 1.2.5, using the file pocketstorage-1.2.5+1.21.1-b3.jar.^[2]

The pack changelog records only one version bump, 1.2.4+1.21.1-b40 to 1.2.5 in All the Mods 10 4.6. That's the update behind the version you're playing in 8.1.^[2][5]

Unverified There are no stored changelogs for the mod's own releases, so it isn't confirmed what changed between the older build and the current one, such as bug fixes, new features or balance changes. The pack changelogs available here also don't confirm whether the mod changed between its first inclusion and the 4.6 update.
