What is The Twilight Forest?
1 part
The Twilight Forest is all about adventure: themed structures to explore, a chain of boss fights to work through, and piles of unique loot, gear and food along the way. All the Mods 10 8.1 ships version 4.8.3345 of the mod, and it has been part of All the Mods 10 since pack version 2.25 or earlier.[1][2]
Progression runs from boss to boss. Your first target is the Naga, a segmented green serpent that lives in the Courtyard. Killing it drops some nice items and opens the way to the Lich Tower, home of the Lich. That fight has three phases: shields and reflected projectiles first, then summoned Zombies, and finally a berserk melee phase.[2]
The rewards are the fun part. You can craft Ironwood and Steeleaf armor, and both come already enchanted. Loot chests hide oddities like the Ender Bow, which swaps places with whatever you hit, and the Ore Magnet, which pulls up ore blocks. There's also a whole menu of Twilight Forest foods to try, including Meef Stroganoff and Experiment 115.[2]
If you enjoy exploring, fighting bosses and collecting weird gadgets, this mod is for you. The pack has a dedicated "The Twilight Forest" quest chapter that walks you through the bosses, gear and collectibles, so you always have a next goal.[2]
Where it fits in the ATM Star path
The Twilight Forest is required for the ATM Star. Chapter 3: The ATM Star includes the quest "Snow Queen Trophy" quest, which asks for a Snow Queen Trophy. The Snow Queen lives in the Aurora Palace in the Glacier Biome. You have to kill the Alpha Yeti before you can enter that biome, so plan on pushing well into the mod's boss chain.[3]
How do you get started with The Twilight Forest?
5 parts
The Twilight Forest quest chapter in All the Mods 10 is your roadmap here. A lot of its quests branch straight off the opening "Welcome to the Twilight Forest!" quest, so you have some freedom in what you tackle first. Here's a sensible order for your first trip in.[2]
Sort out food
You can cook Raw Venison into Venison Steak on a campfire. Both count toward "Fancy Noms" quest, which asks you to try a whole menu of Twilight Forest foods, so it's worth grabbing early.[2][4]
Make a map
It's easy to get lost in the Twilight Forest. While you travel, look for Obsidian Pillars with Ravens around them. Kill the Ravens for their Raven Feather, which completes "Raven Feathers" quest.[2]
The feather goes into a Magic Map Focus for "Magic Map Focus" quest. That leads into "Magic Map" quest. Using a Blank Magic Map gives you a map that shows icons for nearby bosses and structures, so you know where to head next.[2][5]
Gear up with Ironwood or Steeleaf
Both of these armor sets come already enchanted, so they're worth making early. Ironwood Armor is crafted from Ironwood Ingot for "Ironwood Armor" quest. Steeleaf Armor uses Steeleaf, which you find within the Twilight Forest. It is slightly stronger than Naga armor and completes "Steeleaf Armor" quest.[2][4]
Crafting Shaped
8 × any ironwood ingot
Recipe id: twilightforest:equipment/ironwood_chestplate
The quest wants all four pieces, and the helmet, leggings and boots have their own recipes.

Unverified The available pack files don't confirm how you get your first Ironwood Ingots in this pack. Look the ingot up in your recipe viewer. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
Take on the Naga
Your first boss is the Naga, a green serpent made of segments, and you'll find it in the Courtyard. Its segments disappear as you damage it. Killing it gets you the Naga Trophy for "Evening The Scales" quest and gets you past the barrier magic around the Lich's tower, home of the next boss.[2][5]
You can craft the Naga's Naga Scale into a Naga Scale Tunic and Naga Scale Leggings for "Naga Scale Armor" quest. Fair warning: this armor isn't very strong, but it looks nice.[2][4]

Loot to keep an eye on
- Charm of Life I turns up in loot chests. It's single-use: instead of dying, the charm is consumed and you get health regen for a short time.[2]
- Charm of Life II is crafted from 4 Charms of Life I. When it saves you, it restores all your health and gives Regen IV, Resistance and Fire Resistance for 30 seconds.[2][4]
- Ore Magnet comes from Hollow Hill chests. It pulls up anything with Ore in its name, except Coal.[2]
- Moonworm Queen works like a torch launcher, lighting up the block you target. Look for it in some Hollow Hill and Lich Tower chests.[2]
How does The Twilight Forest work?
3 parts
The Twilight Forest isn't a tech mod, so don't expect power grids or pipe networks. Its systems revolve around the portal, the Uncrafting Table, the magic tree cores, a couple of Carminite devices and boss mechanics. All the Mods 10 8.1 also hooks the mod's materials into other mods' automation. Here's what the pack's files confirm.[4][5][6]
The portal
The portal forms over water. When a portal is created, the mod checks up to 64 water spaces, which is the mod default and is unchanged in this pack. Very high values can cause performance issues, so this is a limit on how big a single portal can be.[6]
Lightning zaps the portal when it forms. In this pack that lightning can set things on fire, so keep flammable builds away from your portal pool.[5][6]
The pack also checks new portals for safety before they form, so a portal redirects you to a safe destination instead of dropping you somewhere dangerous. Portals can only be made from the Overworld, which is also where you return to. The return portal works without the activation item.[6]
The portal isn't locked behind an advancement, and portal creation needs permission level 0, so any player can build one. New players start in the normal Overworld, not in the Twilight Forest.[6]
Unverified The exact portal frame requirements and which item activates the portal are not in the provided sources.
The Uncrafting Table
The Uncrafting Table reverses crafting recipes, but that's not its only job. The mod has special recipes that only work in the table, and the mod's own config text strongly recommends keeping it enabled for that reason. There's even an advancement for uncrafting an Uncrafting Table.[5]
If a recipe uses a tag for one of its ingredients, the table can let you switch between the valid ingredients. Pack makers can hide specific ingredients from showing up with the twilightforest:banned_uncrafting_ingredients tag.[5]
The pack's list of mods blocked from uncrafting is empty, so no mod is blacklisted as a whole.[6]
Unverified The pack values for the options that turn off uncrafting or ingredient switching aren't shown in the provided config, so it's unconfirmed whether this pack changed them.
Magic tree cores
The magic trees each have a core block that works within a radius around it: the Minewood Core, the Sortingwood Core, the Timewood Core and the Transformation Core. In this pack all four use a radius of 16, the mod default.[6]
How do you progress through The Twilight Forest?
3 parts
In this pack, the Twilight Forest quest chapter follows the mod's boss chain. Each boss you beat opens up the next area. Along the way you'll pick up new materials, and each one becomes a new tier of armor and tools. Here's the route the quests take you on, followed by the gear tiers you unlock at each stage.[2]
The boss route
- Start with the Naga in the Courtyard for "Evening The Scales" quest. It's a segmented green serpent, and killing it lets you into the Lich's home.[2]
- Take on the Lich in the Lich Tower for "Bring out your Dead" quest. The fight has 3 phases. First you reflect his Ender Pearl shots to break his shields. Next he summons Zombies and you can finally melee him. Last, he goes berserk with a Golden Sword, so kill him fast.[2]
- Head to the Swamps for "To the Swamps!" quest and find the Minoshroom Labyrinth. Minimaps don't work inside. Enemies there drop the Maze Map Focus you need for a Blank Maze Map.[2]
- Beat the Minoshroom deep in the Labyrinth. It drops Meef Stroganoff, and you have to eat it to unlock the next area ("Mighty Meef Stroganoff" quest).[2]
- Defeat the Hydra for "Hydra Slayer" quest. Ranged attacks aren't as effective against it, so get up close. Beating it lets you find the next boss in the Dark Forest.[2]
- In the Dark Forest, place any boss trophy on the pedestal to open the underground structure. You can take the trophy back afterwards. Clear the Knight Phantoms on the 3rd layer for "The Dark Forest" quest.[2]
- Climb the Dark Tower for "Tears of Fire" quest. You get in through the reappearing blocks at its base. Ranged weapons are recommended against the Ur-Ghast. The 4 Ghast traps on the boss floor can help: charge them with Ghastling kills, then activate them with Redstone.[2]
- With the Ur-Ghast down, the snowy biomes open up. Find the Alpha Yeti in its massive cave for "To the Snow Biomes!" quest.[2]
- Beating the Alpha Yeti unlocks the Glacier and the Aurora Palace. Defeat the Snow Queen at the top for "Clear Skies" quest. You can only hit her top half. Her win unlocks the Highlands.[2]
- Kill Trolls in the Highlands for Magic Beans and find Uberous Soil in chests ("Visiting the Giants" quest). Then grow a beanstalk up to a large cloud and kill the Miner Giant for its Giant's Pickaxe (a quest in "The Twilight Forest").[2]
- Use the Giant's Pickaxe on Giant Obsidian in the Troll Caves to find the Lamp of Cinders ("Lamp of Cinders" quest). Then use the lamp to break Thorns and gather Thorn Rose ("Every Thorn has its Rose" quest).[2]
- Finish at the castle on the Final Plateau. The final boss isn't implemented, so "The Final Boss" quest just asks you to grab the castle door blocks. The Kobold that spawns there is only a placeholder and drops nothing.[2]

In the snow biomes, you make Yeti Armor from Alpha Yeti Fur. Arctic Armor uses Arctic Fur from small Yetis and Winter Wolves, and you can dye it. The Snow Queen then drops the Tri-Bow, which fires 3 arrows while only using 1, and the homing Seeker Bow.[2][4]

How does The Twilight Forest work with other mods?
3 parts
The Twilight Forest isn't just a dimension you visit and leave. In All the Mods 10, its woods feed into other mods' machines and furniture, and one of its boss trophies is part of a pack-wide endgame item. Here's what the pack's recipes show.[4]
Snow Queen Trophy and the Oblivion Shard
The pack adds its own recipe for the Oblivion Shard, and it needs a Snow Queen Trophy. The other ingredients come from several different mods, including the Void Forge and Eternal Stella. If you're chasing that shard, you'll need to beat the Snow Queen, so hang on to that trophy.[4]

Sawing Twilight Forest logs
The pack adds Mekanism sawing recipes for every Twilight Forest wood type. They turn the logs into planks and also give you Sawdust. This covers Twilight Oak Planks, Canopy Planks, Mangrove Planks, Darkwood Planks, Timewood Planks, Transwood Planks, Minewood Planks and Sortingwood Planks.[4]

Bibliocraft furniture from Twilight woods
Want your Twilight base to look the part? The pack's recipe dump includes Bibliocraft furniture made from Twilight Forest wood slabs, and the pack changed these recipes. For each wood there's a black display case, a seat, and flat, raised, small, tall and fancy seat backs, for example the Black Canopy Display Case and the Black Dark Seat. The pack changed these recipes, so always check the in-game version instead of an older guide.[4]

Unverified The recipe dump only shows the black versions of this Twilight Forest furniture, and the list is cut off. Other colors and pieces may exist in the pack, but the sources don't confirm them.
Unverified The visible part of the pack's Twilight Forest quest chapter only asks for Twilight Forest items. The chapter is cut off in the sources, so it's not confirmed whether any of its quests use items from other mods.
Which All the Mods 10 quests use The Twilight Forest?
4 parts
In All the Mods 10 you'll run into Twilight Forest content in three quest chapters. "The Twilight Forest" chapter walks you through the whole boss progression. "Basic Armor" covers the mod's armor sets and materials. "Chapter 3: The ATM Star" asks for one of its boss trophies.[2][3][7]
The Twilight Forest chapter: main progression
Everything in this chapter branches off the "Welcome to the Twilight Forest!" quest. The boss path is a single chain, and each quest unlocks the next, so here's the order you'll follow.[2]
- "Evening The Scales" quest: Kill the Naga in the Courtyard and bring back a Naga Trophy.[2]
- "Bring out your Dead" quest: Beat the Lich in the Lich Tower, a fight with 3 phases, for the Twilight Lich Trophy.[2]
- "To the Swamps!" quest: Head into the Minoshroom Labyrinth in the Swamps and grab a Blank Maze Map and some Raw Meef.[2]
- "Mighty Meef Stroganoff" quest: Defeat the Minoshroom for its Minoshroom Trophy and Meef Stroganoff. You have to eat the stroganoff to unlock the next area.[2]
- "Hydra Slayer" quest: Slay the Hydra for a Hydra Trophy. Ranged attacks aren't very effective against it, so plan on fighting up close.[2]
- "The Dark Forest" quest: Get into the Dark Forest structure by placing any boss trophy on the pedestal (you can pick it back up), then defeat the Knight Phantoms for the Knight Phantom Trophy.[2]
- "Tears of Fire" quest: Climb the Dark Tower and kill the Ur-Ghast for the Ur-Ghast Trophy. A ranged weapon is recommended.[2]
- "To the Snow Biomes!" quest: Find the Alpha Yeti in its cave and collect the Alpha Yeti Trophy.[2]
- "Clear Skies" quest: Defeat the Snow Queen at the top of the Aurora Palace for the Snow Queen Trophy. This opens up the Highlands.[2]
- "Visiting the Giants" quest: Collect Magic Beans from Trolls and Uberous Soil from chests in the Highlands.[2]
- a quest in "The Twilight Forest": Grow a beanstalk up to the giant cloud and kill the Miner Giant for a Giant's Pickaxe.[2]
- "Lamp of Cinders" quest: Break Giant Obsidian in Troll Caves to find the Lamp of Cinders.[2]
- "Every Thorn has its Rose" quest: Use the lamp to burn through the Thornlands and gather Thorn Rose.[2]
- "The Final Boss" quest: There's no real final boss yet, so this quest asks for castle doors from the Final Plateau castle instead. The Kobold that spawns there is only a placeholder and drops nothing.[2]
- "The Real Final Boss" quest: Collect the rare saplings from loot chests: Tree of Time Sapling, Sorting Tree Sapling, Miner's Tree Sapling and Tree of Transformation Sapling.[2]
Side quests in the same chapter
- These quests are open from the very start: "Fancy Noms" quest, "Glass Sword" quest, "Steeleaf Armor" quest, "Ironwood Armor" quest, "Ramification" quest, "Charm of Life I" quest, "Ice Bow" quest, "Ender Bow" quest, "Ore Magnet" quest, "Ice Sword" quest, "Moonworm Queen" quest, plus the Peacock Feather Fan and Transformation Powder quests.[2]
- The map chain begins with "Raven Feathers" quest, which comes after "The Silence of the Forest". It continues into "Magic Map Focus" quest and finishes with "Magic Map" quest.[2]
- Beating the Naga unlocks "Naga Scale Armor" quest. Beating the Lich unlocks the scepter quests: "Zombie Scepter" quest, "Scepter of Twilight" quest, "Scepter of Life Draining" quest and "Scepter of Fortification" quest.[2]
- The charm quests form their own chains: "Charm of Life I" quest leads to "Charm of Life II" quest, and "Charm of Keeping I" quest (after the Swamps quest) leads to "Charm of Keeping II" quest and then "Charm of Keeping III" quest.[2]
- The Labyrinth opens the Mazebreaker quest a quest in "The Twilight Forest" and the Blank Maze/Ore Map quest. After the Minoshroom you'll get "Minotaur Axe" quest.[2]
- The Hydra unlocks "Fiery Armor" quest and "Fiery Tools" quest. The Knight Phantoms unlock "Phantom Armor" quest, "Knightmetal Armor" quest and "Knightmetal Tools" quest.[2]
- The Ur-Ghast unlocks "Reappearing \& Vanishing Blocks" quest and "Carmanite Builders \& Reactors" quest. The Alpha Yeti unlocks "Yeti Armor" quest and "Arctic Armor" quest. The Snow Queen unlocks "Tri-Bow" quest and "Seeker Bow" quest.[2]
Basic Armor chapter
This chapter has its own Twilight Forest armor quests: "Ironwood Armor" quest, "Steeleaf Armor" quest, "Knightmetal Armor" quest, "Fiery Armor" quest, "Arctic Gear" quest and "Yeti Outfit" quest. It also has single-item material quests for Ironwood Ingot, Steeleaf, Knightmetal Ingot, Naga Scale, Carminite and Fiery Ingot. No prerequisites are listed for any of them.[7]
Chapter 3: The ATM Star
The ATM Star chapter has a "Snow Queen Trophy" quest quest that comes after a quest called "Twilight Forest". This makes the Snow Queen part of your main pack progression, not only an optional adventure.[3]
Which The Twilight Forest config options matter?
5 parts
The Twilight Forest has a surprisingly long config file, but only a handful of options change how your playthrough feels. Here's how All the Mods 10 8.1 sets the ones you're most likely to run into, starting with the big one: the Uncrafting Table.[6]
The Uncrafting Table is switched off
In this pack, [[config:config/twilightforest-common.toml#Uncrafting Table.disableUncraftingTable]] is set to true. That disables any use of the Uncrafting Table and also stops it from being crafted or showing up in loot. On top of that, [[config:config/twilightforest-common.toml#Uncrafting Table.disableUncrafting]] is also true, which turns off the table's uncrafting function.[6]
Unverified The config file doesn't list the mod's default values for these two Uncrafting Table options, so it's unconfirmed whether disabling the table is a pack-specific change or the mod's own default.
Bosses
- bossesSpawnDropChests is true, so when you beat a boss its loot goes into a chest where the boss originally spawned instead of spilling on the ground. The Knight Phantoms are the exception, because their drops work differently.[6]
- multiplayerFightAdjuster is set to NONE, so bosses behave the same whether you fight solo or bring friends. You won't get extra loot for a group fight, and bosses won't gain the extra 20 hearts per nearby player that the MORE_HEALTH option would add.[6]
Getting into the Twilight Forest
- [[config:config/twilightforest-common.toml#Portal Settings.originDimension]] is minecraft:overworld, and [[config:config/twilightforest-common.toml#Portal Settings.allowPortalsInOtherDimensions]] is false, so build your portal in the Overworld. That's also where you return to.[6]
- [[config:config/twilightforest-common.toml#Portal Settings.portalUnlockedByAdvancement]] is left empty, which means the portal isn't locked behind any advancement. [[config:config/twilightforest-common.toml#Portal Settings.portalCreationPermission]] is 0, the mod default, so any player can make one.[6]
- [[config:config/twilightforest-common.toml#Portal Settings.maxPortalSize]] stays at the mod default of 64 water spaces, so there's a cap on how big a portal pool the mod will check.[6]
- [[config:config/twilightforest-common.toml#Portal Settings.destructivePortalLightning]] is true, so the lightning that zaps your new portal can set things on fire. Keep flammable builds away from it.[6]
- [[config:config/twilightforest-common.toml#Portal Settings.shouldReturnPortalBeUsable]] is true, so the return portal works without needing the activation item.[6]
- [[config:config/twilightforest-common.toml#Dimension Settings.newPlayersSpawnInTF]] is false, so you start in the Overworld like normal.[6]
Magic tree cores
The Timewood, Transformation, Minewood and Sortingwood cores all work in a radius of 16 blocks in this pack, which matches the mod default. The allowed range is 0 to 128, and setting one to 0 stops that core from working. The options are [[config:config/twilightforest-common.toml#Magic Trees.timeCoreRange]], [[config:config/twilightforest-common.toml#Magic Trees.transformationCoreRange]], [[config:config/twilightforest-common.toml#Magic Trees.miningCoreRange]] and [[config:config/twilightforest-common.toml#Magic Trees.sortingCoreRange]].[6]
Other options worth knowing
- casketUUIDLocking is false, so the Keepsake Casket that spawns when you die can be opened by other players, not just you.[6]
- [[config:config/twilightforest-common.toml#Shield Parrying.shieldParryTicksArrow]] stays at the mod default of 40 ticks (1 tick is 1/20 of a second) after raising your shield to parry a projectile. [[config:config/twilightforest-common.toml#Shield Parrying.parryNonTwilightAttacks]] is false, so parrying only works on Twilight Forest projectiles.[6]
- disableSkullCandleCreation is false, so you can still make Skull Candles by right-clicking a vanilla skull with a candle.[6]
What changed in The Twilight Forest between versions?
1 part
All the Mods 10 8.1 ships The Twilight Forest 4.8.3345. The mod has been in the pack for a long time. It was first included in All the Mods 10 2.25 or earlier, so it has been along for the ride through many pack releases.[1]
The version you get in 8.1 is the same one the pack moved to in All the Mods 10 6.2, when The Twilight Forest was updated from 4.8.3287 to 4.8.3345.[1][8]
Update timeline
- All the Mods 10 2.42: updated from 4.6.3003 to 4.7.3040.[9]
- All the Mods 10 2.43: updated from 4.7.3040 to 4.7.3094.[10]
- All the Mods 10 2.47: updated from 4.7.3094 to 4.7.3196.[11]
- All the Mods 10 5.5: updated from 4.7.3196 to 4.8.3287.[12]
- All the Mods 10 6.2: updated from 4.8.3287 to 4.8.3345, the version still shipped in 8.1.[1][8]
Unverified The pack changelogs only list version numbers. They don't say which features, fixes or balance changes each Twilight Forest update brought, and the mod's own changelogs for these versions weren't available. So what actually changed in-game between these versions can't be confirmed here.

Show settings
| Setting | All the Mods 10 value | Mod default |
|---|---|---|
bossesSpawnDropChests If true, Twilight Forest's bosses will put their drops inside of a chest where they originally spawned instead of dropping the loot directly. Note that the Knight Phantoms are not affected by this as their drops work differently. config/twilightforest-common.toml | true | not documented |
casketUUIDLocking If true, Keepsake Caskets that are spawned when a player dies will not be accessible by other players. Use this if you dont want people taking from other people's death caskets. NOTE: server operators will still be able to open locked caskets. config/twilightforest-common.toml | false | not documented |
Dimension Settings.newPlayersSpawnInTF If true, players spawning for the first time will spawn in the Twilight Forest. config/twilightforest-common.toml | false | not documented |
Dimension Settings.portalForNewPlayer If true, the return portal will spawn for new players that were sent to the TF if `newPlayersSpawnInTF` is true. config/twilightforest-common.toml | false | not documented |
disableSkullCandleCreation If true, disables the ability to make Skull Candles by right clicking a vanilla skull with a candle. Turn this on if you're having mod conflict issues for some reason. config/twilightforest-common.toml | false | not documented |
multiplayerFightAdjuster Determines how bosses should adjust to multiplayer fights. There are 4 possible values that can be put here: NONE: doesnt do anything when multiple people participate in a bossfight. Bosses will act the same as they do in singleplayer or solo fights. MORE_LOOT: adds additional drops to a boss' loot table based on how many players participated in the fight. These are fully controlled through the entity's loot table, using the `twilightforest:multiplayer_multiplier` loot function. Note that this function will only do things to entities that are included in the `twilightforest:multiplayer_inclusive_entities` tag. MORE_HEALTH: increases the health of each boss by 20 hearts for each player nearby when the fight starts. MORE_LOOT_AND_HEALTH: does both of the above functions for each boss. config/twilightforest-common.toml | NONE | not documented |
