What is Bibliocraft Legacy?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

The Bibliocraft Legacy project page describes the mod as a port and remake of the original BiblioCraft mod by Nuchaz. It adds decorative and functional furniture to the game.[1]

This pack ships Bibliocraft Legacy 1.6.5, built for Minecraft 1.21.1. The project page says the mod currently supports NeoForge for 1.21.1 and upwards. It has been in the pack since version 2.25 or earlier.[1][2]

What you get

  • The project page's current feature list includes furniture with its own use, such as bookcases, shelves, tables, tool racks, display cases, potion shelves, disc racks and sword pedestals.[1]
  • The same list names clocks, lighting and small decor: fancy clocks, grandfather clocks, fancy lamps and lanterns, cookie jars, desk bells and dinner plates.[1]
  • It also lists fancy armor stands, fancy crafters, fancy signs, labels and seats with several types of seat backs.[1]
  • For organization, the current list names big books, clipboards, stockroom catalogs and tape measures.[1]
  • The page says wooden blocks come in all vanilla wood types (11 as of 1.21.1) and use vanilla textures only, so the mod is compatible with most resource packs.[1]

Good to know

The project page says the mod uses vanilla-friendly JSON models instead of the old OBJ 3D models, and it describes the mod as performance and modpack friendly.[1]

The project page's planned features section says not every feature of the original mod is in yet, and the author plans to add pretty much everything. The notable missing features it lists are mapping (Map Frames, Atlases, Drafting Compasses) and painting (Painting Frames, Painting Presses, Painting Canvases), so don't count on those for now.[1]

Unverified The sources show no quests for this mod and no place for it on the ATM Star path, and no in-jar guidebook was found. It looks like a decoration and organization mod rather than a progression step, but that isn't confirmed.

How do you get started with Bibliocraft Legacy?

4 parts

Bibliocraft Legacy is a port of the original BiblioCraft mod by Nuchaz. Its project page says it adds decorative and functional furniture, plus items that help you stay organized. The page also notes that not every feature of the original is in yet, so some things you remember from the old mod may be missing. Here is a sensible order to start crafting, using the real recipes from this pack.[1]

Start with the organization items

The project page lists Big Books, Clipboards, Stockroom Catalogs and Tape Measures as the mod's organization items. The Big Book and the Clipboard both have ordinary shaped crafting recipes in this pack. Start with the Big Book.[1][3]

Seats and seat backs

Next come the furniture pieces. The project page lists seats with multiple types of seat backs, and says wooden blocks come in all vanilla wood types. The examples here use acacia, such as the Black Acacia Seat.[1][3]

Seat backs are separate items. The small, flat and raised backs are crafted directly. The fancy and tall backs both use the flat back as an ingredient, so make the Black Acacia Flat Seat Back first if you want those.[3]

Display and decoration

The project page lists Display Cases among the mod's furniture. Here is the Black Acacia Display Case from this pack.[1][3]

The Sword Pedestal is another decorative piece, and the project page lists Sword Pedestals too. Its recipe in this pack is short.[1][3]

Colors, wood types and JEI

Many of the mod's blocks can be crafted in all colors, in all wood types, or in both. The recipes above are the black and acacia versions.[3][4]

Tip: The mod has JEI options that control whether JEI shows blocks for every color and every wood type, or only the default white and oak. If you can't find a color or wood variant in JEI, check those options before assuming the recipe is missing.[4]

How does Bibliocraft Legacy work?

5 parts

Bibliocraft Legacy is a port of the original BiblioCraft mod. The mod page says it adds various pieces of decorative and functional furniture, including bookcases, shelves, tables, display cases, seats, fancy lamps and lanterns, and sword pedestals. It also says not every feature of the original is in yet, and the author plans to add pretty much everything. So this section covers how the furniture is crafted and varied.[1]

Colors and wood types

Many blocks come in several colors, wood types, or both. The JEI text for these blocks says whether a block can be crafted in all colors, all wood types, or both. By default JEI shows only the white and oak versions, and the mod has compatibility options that make JEI list every color and every wood type instead.[4]

In this pack the recipes are organized by color, and wooden pieces are organized by wood type as well. For example, the Black Acacia, Black Bamboo and Black Birch display cases each have their own recipe. The mod page says wooden blocks come in all vanilla wood types (11 as of 1.21.1). It also lists addon mods for modded woods, but nothing here confirms those addons are in the pack.[1][3]

Seats and seat backs

The mod page lists seats with multiple types of seat backs. This pack has recipes for a seat, such as the Black Acacia Seat, and for these seat backs: small, flat, raised, tall and fancy. Each exists per color and wood type, for example Black Acacia Small Seat Back, Black Acacia Flat Seat Back, Black Acacia Raised Seat Back, Black Acacia Tall Seat Back and Black Acacia Fancy Seat Back.[1][3]

Lighting and display pieces

The mod page lists fancy lamps and lanterns in several variants. The pack's recipes show gold and iron versions, such as the Black Fancy Gold Lamp and Black Fancy Iron Lantern. The Sword Pedestal and the display cases are among the other color-based pieces with recipes in this pack.[1][3]

Good to know

Tip: JEI can flag a recipe with the note that it also requires some experience. The sources don't say which Bibliocraft recipes that applies to, so check JEI before you craft in bulk.[4]
Watch out: The mod page says not every feature of the original mod is in yet, and the author plans to add pretty much everything. The notable missing features it lists are the mapping features (Map Frames, Atlases, Drafting Compasses) and the painting features (Painting Frames, Painting Presses, Painting Canvases), so those blocks are not listed among what the mod offers for now.[1]

How do you progress through Bibliocraft Legacy?

3 parts

This section is short, because the pack gives Bibliocraft Legacy no formal tier ladder that I can confirm. What the sources do show is the in-pack crafting recipes, so this page walks through those instead of a quest path.[3]

Unverified No quests in this pack involve Bibliocraft Legacy, the mod is not on the ATM Star quest path, and no in-jar guidebook was found. Don't expect the quest book to tell you when to unlock any of these items.

Early decor and writing items

The simplest items are the writing and display pieces: the Big Book, the Clipboard and the Sword Pedestal are all shaped crafting recipes from the mod. The exact in-pack recipes are shown below.[3]

Seats and seat backs

The wood-specific recipes cover a seat, a display case and several seat backs. Take Black Acacia as the example: the Black Acacia Fancy Seat Back and Black Acacia Tall Seat Back are crafted from the Black Acacia Flat Seat Back, so craft the flat one first.[3]

Tip: The same pattern repeats for the other wood types in the visible recipes: acacia, bamboo, birch, cherry, crimson, dark oak, jungle, mangrove and oak. Once you know one wood's chain, you know them all. Check the recipe viewer for the exact in-pack recipe of the wood you want.[3]

What changed in Bibliocraft Legacy between versions?

5 parts

All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 ships Bibliocraft Legacy 1.6.5, and the mod has been in the pack since version 1.0 or earlier. Below are the notable changes from the mod's own changelogs, from 1.6.0 up to the version you're playing. I don't have any pack changelog entries for this mod.[5]

1.6.0: Typewriters and Printing Tables

  • Typewriters arrived, used to create book pages.[6]
  • Printing Tables arrived as multi-function blocks. They can bind book pages into a book, merge multiple written books or book & quills together, copy written books without the generation changing, and copy enchanted books at the cost of XP.[6]
  • Display Cases got new opening and closing sounds, all sounds got subtitles, and Fancy Crafters got JEI support.[6]
  • Fixes: gold lanterns and gold soul lanterns no longer use the wrong hanging models, and the overly dark backgrounds in Bibliocraft GUIs were fixed.[6]

1.6.1: Lanterns, lamps and cloning

  • New enchantment tag bibliocraft:printing_table_cloning_blacklist, which does exactly what the name says.[7]
  • Printing Table cloning that involves enchantments now uses a separate recipe type, bibliocraft:printing_table_cloning_with_enchantments.[7]
  • Fancy Lanterns can now be unlit and lit, similar to candles. Fancy Lamps can now be toggled off and on with redstone, similar to reverse redstone lamps.[7]
  • Fixed storage mods such as AE2 or Refined Storage inserting items into Bibliocraft blocks that aren't normally placeable there.[7]
  • Fixed a crash caused by fancy clocks ticking while a chunk was being unloaded.[7]
  • Fixed the compatibility config being located inside the cosmetics config instead of on the same level.[7]

1.6.2: Mending Sword Pedestals

  • Sword Pedestals now absorb experience orbs in a 2 block range if they hold a damaged item enchanted with Mending.[8]
  • Fixed Fancy Signs sometimes not saving and editing the correct side.[8]
  • Fixed a crash when trying to merge empty book and quills in the Printing Table.[8]

1.6.4: Stacking and a dupe fix

  • Redstone books, slotted books and stockroom catalogs now stack to 1.[9]
  • Fixed a dupe bug with the slotted book.[9]

1.6.5: The version in this pack

  • Fixed Fancy Crafters and Printing Tables extracting items from slots they shouldn't extract from.[10]
  • Fixed automation inputs into Printing Tables not causing a recipe recalculation.[10]
Tip: If you automate Printing Tables or Fancy Crafters with pipes or hoppers, the 1.6.5 fixes are the ones that matter most to you.[10]
