What is Actually Additions?
1 part
Actually Additions is a long-time fan-favorite magitech mod packed with fun and useful gadgets. At its heart, you turn minerals into powerful crystals using the Atomic Reconstructor and the Empowerer. Those crystals unlock machines for processing and sorting items, lasers that move energy, items and fluids wirelessly, renewable oil for generating power, and plenty more.[1]
If you enjoy a toolbox of handy gadgets for moving stuff around, processing items and making power, this mod is worth a look. All the Mods 10 5.2 ships Actually Additions version 1.3.22, and the mod has been in the pack since version 2.25 or earlier.[1][2]
Where it fits in this pack
- Early game: the Coal Generator is one of the options for the "Coal Generators" quest quest in the Basic Power chapter. It's one of the easiest generators to make. It burns combustible materials for a decent amount of power and automatically pushes that power into adjacent blocks.[3]
- Villagers: the Coffee Maker counts for the "Mo' Professions" quest quest in Tips and Tricks, because it's the workstation for the Engineer villager profession.[4]
- Chapter 4: Creative: here you build the Atomic Reconstructor for quest a quest in "Chapter 4: Creative". You drop lens items in front of it and upgrade them step by step, from a Lens of Color to a Lens of Detonation and onward, until you reach the Lens of Certain Death in "Lens of Certain Death" quest. You then craft that lens into the Lens of the Killer (WIP) for "Lens of the Killer" quest.[5]
How do you get started with Actually Additions?
6 parts
Actually Additions is a magitech mod packed with useful gadgets. You use the Atomic Reconstructor and the Empowerer to turn minerals into powerful crystals. Those crystals unlock machines for processing and sorting items, lasers that move energy, items and fluids wirelessly, renewable oil for power, and much more. Your early game comes down to two things: getting power running and building a Reconstructor.[1]
Step 1: Grab the manual
Start with the Actually Additions Manual (WIP), the mod's in-game manual. Even the mod's creator admits he never realised how much content the mod has, so keep this book close. Opening it also counts toward one of the mod's achievements.[6][7]
Step 2: Get some power with a Coal Generator
The Atomic Reconstructor needs power, and the Coal Generator is an easy way to get it. It is one of the options for the "Coal Generators" quest quest in the Basic Power chapter. That quest calls these generators some of the easiest to make. They are simple to use, and their power output depends on the combustible material you put in. They also send power to adjacent blocks automatically.[3][5]

Step 3: Build the Atomic Reconstructor
The Atomic Reconstructor is the machine that turns minerals into crystals, which makes it the heart of the mod. The pack's quest for it, a quest in "Chapter 4: Creative", calls it a pretty darn useful machine for such a simple recipe.[1][5]

- Placement matters. Like a dispenser, the way you place it decides where it aims.[5]
- It needs power, so put it next to your Coal Generator, which sends power to adjacent blocks.[3][5]
- You set how it reacts to redstone with a Redstone Torch. In deactivate mode it switches off when it receives a redstone signal. In pulse mode it activates whenever it receives a redstone signal.[5]
Step 4: Start making crystals
Making a crystal with the Atomic Reconstructor is one of the mod's achievements, and crystals are what the mod's machines are built from. You can also compress crystal shards into full crystals at a crafting table. For example, you can turn shards into a Restonia Crystal.[1][7][8]
Unverified The sources for this section don't say which items you fire the Reconstructor at to make each crystal. They also don't say where Black Quartz, Canola or crystal shards are found. Check the in-game manual.
Step 5: Your first coil
Once you have your first crystals, craft a Basic Coil. Coils go into many machines. The Auto-Breaker and the Battery Box both use one.[8]

Where to go next
A good next build is the Coffee Maker, which uses your Basic Coil. In this pack it also counts for the "Mo' Professions" quest quest, because the Coffee Maker gives villagers the Engineer profession.[4][8]

Later, the pack's Creative chapter has you drop a Lens in front of your Reconstructor to turn it into a Lens of Color, then into a Lens of Detonation. You keep going until you reach the Lens of Certain Death for the "Lens of Certain Death" quest quest. You then craft that into the Lens of the Killer (WIP) for "Lens of the Killer" quest.[5][8]
Unverified The Coal Generator, Atomic Reconstructor and Coffee Maker all need an Iron Casing, but its recipe isn't included in the sources for this section. Look it up in JEI or the in-game manual. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How does Actually Additions work?
7 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Actually Additions is built around one loop: you turn minerals into crystals with the Atomic Reconstructor and the Empowerer, and those crystals unlock machines for processing and sorting items, plus lasers that move energy, items and fluids wirelessly. The mod also adds renewable oil for power. This section covers how those systems behave in the pack, as far as the sources explain them.[1]
The Atomic Reconstructor
The Atomic Reconstructor is your entry point. The mod even has an achievement for making a crystal with it. In the pack it can store 300,000 energy, set by machineSettings.reconstructorPower, which is the mod default. Its Mining Lens uses 60,000 energy, set by machineSettings.minerLensEnergy, also the mod default.[9][10]

Coils
Coils show up as ingredients in several of the mod's crafts. The Basic Coil is the first tier, and the Advanced Coil is the next. The pack changed the Advanced Coil recipe, so don't rely on the mod's default version. Use the recipe below.[11]

Laser relays: energy, items and fluids
Laser relays are how you network machines. In the pack's config, Energy Laser Relays are set to have energy loss, because machineSettings.laserRelayLoss is true.[10]
The pack's config sets machineSettings.fluidLaserTransferRate, the amount of fluid the Fluid Laser Relay can transfer per tick, to 2,147,483,647. The mod default is 10,000, so this is a big change.[10]
Laser relays can be set to move things only out of adjacent blocks or only into adjacent blocks. To change this you need to hold the relay configurator item. In the pack that item is a compass, set by other.relayConfigurator.[9][10]
Item automation with interfaces
The mod's in-game text explains that an Item Laser Relay network on its own only knows about the items and slots in the containers connected to it. To work with those items, you place an Item Interface next to an Item Laser Relay. The interface pretends to be one very large chest holding every slot of every connected container.[9]
That means a hopper or any other item transport can insert into it and pull from it like a chest. Nothing is actually stored in the interface. Items go to and come from the relay network.[9]
The mod's in-game text says the Hopping Item Interface connects the same way, by placing it next to an Item Laser Relay. The difference is that it pulls and pushes items on its own, with the functionality of a hopper, and it stores items in the network instead of an internal inventory.[9]
Machine area and generator settings
Several machines have a working area or rate you can tune in the config. For the settings below, the pack's value matches the mod default.[10]
- Farmer: the pack's config sets the farming area to 9x9, and it must be an odd number (machineSettings.farmerArea). You change the area in-game by right-clicking while holding the farmer configurator, a compass in the pack (other.farmerConfigurator).[9][10]
- Leaf Generator: in the pack's config it harvests a 7x7x7 area (machineSettings.leafGeneratorArea), waits 5 ticks between generation cycles (machineSettings.leafGeneratorCooldown), and produces 300 CF per leaf (machineSettings.leafGeneratorCPPerLeaf).[10]
- Oil Generator: the pack's config sets its transfer to 500 power per tick (machineSettings.oilGeneratorTransfer).[10]
Vertical Digger and Drill filters
The config describes the Vertical Digger as mining everything in the forge ores tags by default. machineSettings.verticalDiggerBlacklist stops it mining listed blocks in both modes. machineSettings.verticalDiggerExtraWhitelist adds extra blocks, but only in Ores Only Mode. The pack leaves both lists empty.[10]
The Drill has its own extra list, itemsSettings.drillExtraWhitelist. The pack's config sets it to a single entry, TConstruct:GravelOre.[10]
Redstone mode and batteries
The in-game text says you toggle a machine's redstone mode by right-clicking it while holding the redstone configurator. In the pack that item is a redstone torch (other.redstoneConfigurator).[9][10]
The battery tooltips say a sneak-right-click toggles between charging other items in your inventory and not charging them.[9]
Some machines are built as multiblocks. The mod has a message for when a controller is not part of the right multiblock, and it points you to the controller's description, so read that description before building.[9]
How do you progress through Actually Additions?
4 parts
Actually Additions doesn't get its own quest chapter in this pack. Instead it shows up in a few quests spread across other chapters: the Coal Generator in Basic Power, the Atomic Reconstructor and its lenses in Chapter 4: Creative, and the Coffee Maker in Tips and Tricks. Outside those quests, the recipes set the progression. Machines are built on Iron Casings, coils and crystals.[3][4][5][8]
Early game: your first power
Your first step is the "Coal Generators" quest quest in the Basic Power chapter, which unlocks after Early Game Power Options. The Coal Generator completes it, and so do coal generators from a couple of other mods. The quest calls these some of the easiest generators to make. They're simple to run, produce power based on the fuel you put in, and push power to adjacent blocks automatically.[3]

Keep making Iron Casing. The Coal Generator, Atomic Reconstructor, Coffee Maker, Crusher, Double Crusher and Bio Reactor all use it, so it's the backbone of almost every machine in the mod.[8]
Coils: the component tiers
Machine recipes are split by coil tier. The Basic Coil comes first and goes into early machines like the Crusher, Auto-Breaker and Battery Box. The Advanced Coil is built from a Basic Coil and unlocks the next tier.[8]

Crystals and empowered crystals
Crystals are the other big progression resource. Each type comes as a shard, a crystal and a block. Shards compress into a crystal, crystals compress into a block, and you can craft them back down. Each crystal type also has an empowered version with its own block.[8]
- Restonia Crystal, made from Red Crystal Shard. You need it for the Basic Coil and the Crusher.[8]
- Palis Crystal, made from Blue Crystal Shard.[8]
- Diamatine Crystal, made from Light Blue Crystal Shard. The Advanced Leaf Blower uses it.[8]
- Void Crystal, made from Black Crystal Shard. The Auto-Breaker and Coffee Maker use it.[8]
- Emeradic Crystal, made from Green Crystal Shard.[8]
- Enori Crystal, made from White Crystal Shard. The Canola Press uses it, and its empowered form, Empowered Enori Crystal, goes into the Bio Reactor.[8]
Unverified The sources don't cover how to get the crystal shards or crystals in the first place, or how to empower a crystal. Check the in-game manual or JEI for those steps. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
Atomic Reconstructor and lenses
The mod's main quest line is in Chapter 4: Creative. It starts with the a quest in "Chapter 4: Creative" quest for the Atomic Reconstructor, which the quest calls a pretty useful machine for such a simple recipe.[5]

- Set its redstone mode with a Redstone Torch. In deactivate mode, it turns off when it gets a redstone signal. In pulse mode, it fires each time it gets a signal.[5]
- For the "Lens of Certain Death" quest quest, drop a Lens item in front of the Reconstructor and it turns into a Lens of Color when the machine fires. Drop that in front and it becomes a Lens of Detonation. Keep going until you get the Lens of Certain Death.[5][8]
- For the "Lens of the Killer" quest quest, you're done with dropping lenses. Craft the Lens of Certain Death into the Lens of the Killer (WIP).[5][8]

How does Actually Additions work with other mods?
4 parts
Actually Additions ties into several other mods in this pack. Its Laser Relays and lenses feed into late-game crafting, its Black Quartz can come from other mods' farms, and a few of its machines appear in quests alongside options from other mods.[5][8]
Laser Relays become Runic Hatches
Laser Relays normally move energy, items and fluids wirelessly. This pack adds Modern Industrialization Auto Forge recipes that use them as parts for the Runic hatches, so plan to keep some relays around for that tech path.[1][8]
- The Energy Laser Relay goes into the Runic Energy Input Hatch.[8]
- The Item Laser Relay goes into both the Runic Item Input Hatch and the Runic Item Output Hatch.[8]
- The Fluid Laser Relay goes into both the Runic Fluid Input Hatch and the Runic Fluid Output Hatch.[8]

The "Chapter 4: Creative" questline walks you through it. First you get an Atomic Reconstructor in a quest in "Chapter 4: Creative". Then you drop lenses in front of it and let it fire, stepping up through Lens of Color and Lens of Detonation until you reach the Lens of Certain Death in "Lens of Certain Death" quest. Finally, "Lens of the Killer" quest has you craft the Lens of Certain Death into the Lens of the Killer.[5]
Black Quartz from other mods
The pack adds a crafting recipe that turns Black Quartz Essence into Black Quartz, so a Mystical Agriculture farm can supply your quartz.[8]

Quests shared with other mods
- The "Coal Generators" quest quest accepts the Coal Generator or a coal generator from another mod. These generators make power from combustible fuel and automatically push it into adjacent blocks.[3]
- In "Mo' Professions" quest, the Coffee Maker is one of the job blocks for modded villager professions: it gives you the Engineer.[4]
Which All the Mods 10 quests use Actually Additions?
3 parts
Actually Additions appears in three quest chapters in this pack. The biggest part is a short chain in Chapter 4: Creative, which walks you through the Atomic Reconstructor and its lenses. The mod also has single entries in the Basic Power and Tips and Tricks chapters.[3][4][5]
Chapter 4: Creative
This chain has three quests that unlock one after another, so do them in this order.[5]
- a quest in "Chapter 4: Creative" asks you for an Atomic Reconstructor. The quest calls it a simple recipe that gives you a really useful machine. Place it down, give it power and set its behaviour with a Redstone Torch.[5]
- "Lens of Certain Death" quest unlocks after that and asks for the Lens of Certain Death. You get it by dropping lenses in front of the Reconstructor. Each time it fires, the lens turns into the next lens in the chain. Keep feeding the results back in until you reach the Lens of Certain Death.[5]
- "Lens of the Killer" quest comes last and asks for the Lens of the Killer (WIP). You don't drop anything this time, because this lens is crafted from the Lens of Certain Death.[5]
Basic Power
"Coal Generators" quest unlocks after the Early Game Power Options quest. It accepts the Coal Generator, but coal generators from a couple of other mods also complete it, so this mod is just one option. The quest says these are some of the easiest generators to make. They produce power based on the fuel you put in and push it automatically into adjacent blocks.[3]
Tips and Tricks
"Mo' Professions" quest unlocks after the Easy Villagers quest and covers the new villager professions that mods add. You can finish it with any of several job blocks. The Actually Additions one is the Coffee Maker, which gives a villager the Engineer profession.[4]
Which Actually Additions config options matter?
5 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Almost everything for this mod lives in a single file, config/actuallyadditions-common.toml. The good news is that the pack barely touches it. Only the fluid transfer rate is flagged as changed from the mod default, so for the rest you can plan around the normal Actually Additions numbers.[10]
The value the pack changed
machineSettings.fluidLaserTransferRate controls how much fluid a Fluid Laser Relay can transfer per tick. The mod default is 10,000, but this pack sets it to 2,147,483,647.[10]
Machine settings
- machineSettings.farmerArea is 9, the same as the mod default. That gives the farmer a 9x9 area, and the value must be an odd number.[10]
- machineSettings.leafGeneratorArea is 7 (a 7x7x7 harvesting area), machineSettings.leafGeneratorCooldown is 5 ticks between generation cycles, and machineSettings.leafGeneratorCPPerLeaf is 300 CF per leaf. All of these match the mod defaults.[10]
- machineSettings.reconstructorPower is 300,000, so that is how much power the Atomic Reconstructor can store. machineSettings.minerLensEnergy is 60,000, the energy use of its Mining Lens. Both match the mod defaults.[10]
- machineSettings.oilGeneratorTransfer is 500 power per tick, the mod default.[10]
- machineSettings.laserRelayLoss is true, so Energy Laser Relays have energy loss.[10]
What the drill and Vertical Digger can mine
The Vertical Digger mines everything in the forge:ores tags by default. In this pack both machineSettings.verticalDiggerBlacklist and machineSettings.verticalDiggerExtraWhitelist are empty, so nothing is added or removed.[10]
The drill's extra list, itemsSettings.drillExtraWhitelist, contains a single entry: TConstruct:GravelOre.[10]
Configurator tools
- other.farmerConfigurator uses Compass to configure the area in a farmer.[10]
- other.relayConfigurator also uses Compass, to configure direction in laser relays.[10]
- other.redstoneConfigurator uses Redstone Torch to configure Redstone Mode.[10]
Worldgen and other toggles
Canola (worldgenSettings.generateCanola), coffee (worldgenSettings.generateCoffee), flax (worldgenSettings.generateFlax) and Black Quartz (worldgenSettings.generateQuartz) all generate in the world. Mod loot in dungeons is on too (other.villageAndDungeonLoot), and Tiny Coal and Tiny Charcoal are craftable (other.tinyCoal).[10]
Tilling soil can drop worms (other.tillingWorms). They never die on their own, because other.wormDeathTime is 0, the mod default. The booklet is given when you first craft something from the mod (other.giveBookletOnFirstCraft).[10]
