What is Actually Additions?

2 parts

Actually Additions is a long-time fan-favorite magitech mod full of fun and useful gadgets. It's a good fit if you like building up a base with practical machines rather than one giant endgame project.[1]

The core loop starts with the Atomic Reconstructor and the Empowerer. You use them to turn minerals into powerful crystals, and those crystals unlock the rest of the mod.[1]

What you can build

  • Machines for processing and sorting items.[1]
  • Lasers that wirelessly transport energy, items and fluids.[1]
  • Renewable oil to generate power.[1]

The mod also ships its own in-game booklet. It has an intro, a chapter on crystals, and a tutorial on how to use the book itself, so open it whenever you get stuck.[2][3][4]

In this pack

The pack includes Actually Additions version 1.3.10, built for Minecraft 1.21.1. It has been in the pack since All the Mods 10 1.2 or earlier.[5]

Unverified The sources don't show where Actually Additions fits in the pack's progression. The mod is not on the ATM Star path, and no quests in this pack involve it, so you can pick it up whenever it suits your base.

How do you get started with Actually Additions?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 1.27 guide

Actually Additions is a magitech mod built around crystals. You use the Atomic Reconstructor and the Empowerer to turn minerals into crystals, and those crystals unlock machines for processing and sorting items, lasers, and power generation. So the early game is a short chain: guide, reconstructor, crystals, coils, machines.[1]

First, craft the manual

Start with the Actually Additions Manual (WIP). It's the mod's in-game guide, and it has a chapter on crystals. Opening it is also one of the mod's achievements. Keep in mind the item is labelled WIP in this pack.[3][6][7]

Next, build the Atomic Reconstructor

The Atomic Reconstructor is the machine that turns minerals into crystals, so everything else depends on it. The mod even has achievements for crafting one and for making a crystal with it.[1][7]

Then get crystals and make a Basic Coil

Crystals such as the Restonia Crystal and the Void Crystal are the building blocks for the early machines. The recipes below show how to get each one, and how the Restonia Crystal becomes the Basic Coil, which is the key early component.[6]

Finally, your first machines

With coils in hand, the Coal Generator and the Crusher are good first machines. The Coal Generator has its own crafting achievement. The mod's machines are aimed at processing items, and the Crusher is one of them. The Double Crusher is the next step up from the Crusher, and it has its own crafting achievement too.[1][6][7]

How does Actually Additions work?

7 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.34 guide

Almost everything in this mod comes from one idea: you turn ordinary minerals into powerful crystals, then use those crystals to build machines. The two key tools for this are the Atomic Reconstructor and the Empowerer. The machines they unlock cover item processing and sorting, lasers that wirelessly move energy, items and fluids, and renewable oil you can burn for power.[1]

Crystals and the Atomic Reconstructor

The Atomic Reconstructor is where your progression starts. Making your first crystal with it even counts as its own achievement. It is built from an Iron Casing plus some basic materials, so you can get one early.[1][9][10]

The crystals then become the parts for everything else. You'll find Restonia Crystal, Enori Crystal, Void Crystal, Diamatine Crystal and Empowered Enori Crystal across the machine recipes in this pack.[10]

Coils: the core components

Coils are the parts you'll craft over and over. The Basic Coil goes into machines like the Auto-Breaker and the Battery Box, and it is also the base for the Advanced Coil.[10]

The Advanced Coil then feeds into later gear such as the Canola Press and the Advanced Leaf Blower.[10]

Power

The mod measures energy in CF. Hover over the Coal Generator's tooltip to see how much it produces: the total CF, the CF per tick, and how many ticks it runs. Other power options include the Leaf-Eating Generator and renewable oil, which starts from canola and the Canola Press.[1][9][10]

Batteries can top up your other gear. Sneak-right-click a battery to switch between charging the other items in your inventory and not charging them. The tooltip shows which mode it's in.[9]

Laser Relays and item networks

Lasers are how this mod moves energy, items and fluids without cables. Relays come in several tiers, including the Advanced Laser Relay and the Extreme Laser Relay. For energy relays, you right-click to change a setting shown on the relay's display.[1][9]

An Item Laser Relay network knows about every item and slot in the containers connected to it. On its own, though, it doesn't let you take anything out. To interact with those items you need an Item Interface. Connect it to the network by placing an Item Laser Relay next to it.[9]

The Item Interface acts like one very large chest that contains every slot of every connected container. You can use a Hopper or any other item transport on it just like a chest, both to insert items and to pull them out. Nothing is stored in the interface itself: items go to, and come from, the Laser Relay network.[9]

The Hopping Item Interface connects to the network the same way. The difference is that you don't need to pipe items into it, because it pulls and pushes items on its own. It has everything a Hopper can do, but it stores items in the network instead of an internal inventory.[9]

  • Relay modes let a relay work in one direction only: either only out of adjacent blocks, or only into adjacent blocks. The relay tells you to hold a specific item to change the mode.[9]
  • On Item Laser Relays, right-click to increase the displayed value and sneak-right-click to decrease it.[9]
  • In filters, an empty blocklist lets every item through and an empty allowlist lets nothing through. To configure specific items, place those items or configured Item Filters in the slots.[9]
  • The smart button adds every item from inventories next to the relay into that part of the allowlist or blocklist. Any Item Filters you already added to the list get filled as well.[9]
  • Mod matching makes a filter compare which mod an item comes from instead of the item itself. This is handy for storage systems that use chests from a particular mod.[9]

Fluids

Lasers can move fluids as well as items and energy. There is also a Phantom Liquiface, the fluid counterpart to the Phantom Energyface.[1][9]

Multiblocks

The Lava Factory is a multiblock built around a controller. If the controller isn't part of the correct structure, its tooltip warns you and tells you to check the controller's description. Once the structure is complete, the tooltip confirms the Lava Factory can produce lava.[9]

Configuring your machines

Some machines that insert into or extract from an inventory let you pick a slot range. You enter the first slot and the slot after the last one. For example, entering 2 and 5 makes the machine work with slots 2, 3 and 4.[9]

Other settings are changed by right-clicking while holding the right item. Redstone mode is toggled this way, and the Farmer's farming area is adjusted the same way. The block's message tells you which item you need.[9]

Tip: Sneak while looking at an Actually Additions block to see extra information about it on your screen.[9]

Unverified The sources don't say which item you hold to change relay modes, redstone modes or the farming area, or exactly what the Item Laser Relay's value controls. They also don't cover the Empowerer's recipes or the Lava Factory's block layout. Check the in-game manual for those details.

How do you progress through Actually Additions?

5 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 1.27 guide

Actually Additions doesn't have its own quest line in this pack. The only quest I can confirm that touches the mod is one in the tips_and_tricks chapter. So the tiers below are my own grouping, based on the in-pack recipes and how the machines build on each other.[6][8]

The quest tie-in

Quest a quest in "?" has no title, and it accepts any one item from a long list. The Coffee Maker is one of the options, alongside crafting stations from other mods. It comes after quest 28E60192912BEBAD, and it isn't a gate for the rest of the mod.[8]

Tier 1: Iron Casing machines

The first machines in the mod are built around the Iron Casing. The Coal Generator and the Atomic Reconstructor both belong here, so start with these.[6]

Tier 2: the Basic Coil

The Basic Coil is the next step up. It is crafted from Black Quartz and a Restonia Crystal. Several machines are built on it: the Crusher, the Auto-Breaker, the Coffee Maker and the Battery Box.[6]

Crystals and empowered crystals

Each crystal type has compress and decompress recipes. They cover Restonia, Palis, Void, Emeradic, Enori and Diamatine, and each one converts between shard, crystal and block. Empowered versions also exist, and some machines need them. The Bio Reactor needs an Empowered Enori Crystal, for example.[6]

Unverified The sources I have don't confirm how raw crystals and empowered crystals are obtained in this pack, so check the in-game Actually Additions Manual for that.

How does Actually Additions work with other mods?

Nothing in the material available for this pack shows Actually Additions connecting to another mod. There are no cross-mod recipes and no quests that mix its items with items from other mods, so there's nothing concrete for me to point you to here.[1]

What the mod does on its own is described as a chain: you use the Atomic Reconstructor and the Empowerer to turn minerals into crystals. Those crystals then unlock machines for processing and sorting items, lasers for wirelessly moving energy, items and fluids, and renewable oil for power.[1]

Unverified Whether Actually Additions machines, lasers or power systems work with other mods' items, fluids or energy in this pack is unverified. Test it in your own world before building around it.

What changed in Actually Additions between versions?

4 parts

All the Mods 10 1.26 ships Actually Additions 1.3.10 for Minecraft 1.21.1, and the mod has been in the pack since All the Mods 10 1.2 or earlier. Below are the notable changes from the mod's own changelogs, newest first.[5]

Unverified No pack changelog entries for this mod were available to the sources here, so this section only covers the mod's own changelogs.

1.3.10: machines keep their contents

This is the version you have in the pack. The big change is that many machines now hold on to some of their state when you break them.[5][11]

  • Energy is kept when you break the Coal Generator, Oil Generator, Leaf eating generator, Crushers, Display Stand, Powered Furnace, Atomic Reconstructor, Coffee Machine and Farmer.[11]
  • Fluids are kept when you break the Oil Generator, Coffee Machine, Fluid Placer, Fluid Collector, Canola Press and Fermenting Barrel.[11]
  • Redstone state is kept when you break the Atomic Reconstructor, Fluid Placer, Fluid Collector, Breaker, Placer and Dropper.[11]
  • The Fluid placer can be harvested again, and there is a new config option to disable the energy overlay.[11]
  • Some blocks that wrongly used metal sounds after the casing sound changes were fixed, and the banner and shield patterns were updated.[11]

1.3.9 and 1.3.8: fixes and sounds

  • 1.3.9 changed laser rendering to be compatible with Iris, stopped machines in the Engineer House being obtainable when broken, and fixed the drill breaking when out of energy.[12]
  • 1.3.8 made seeds and crops compostable, added tiny coal and charcoal to the furnace fuel datamap, and added stairs, slabs and walls to the appropriate block and item tags.[13]
  • 1.3.8 also reworked sound types: casing blocks now match the material used in their recipe, some machines use the metal sound, and crystal blocks and clusters got new sounds.[13]
  • 1.3.8 locked the Immersive Engineering cloche compat recipes behind a mod loaded condition and fixed one Engineer House block being the wrong block.[13]

1.3.7 and 1.3.6: early stability work

  • 1.3.7 added recipes for the mod's crops in the Immersive Engineering cloche, fixed All in One Tool stats, and fixed the Vertical Miner and Phantom Breaker not breaking or harvesting blocks properly.[14]
  • 1.3.7 also fixed Energy lasers not properly filling Mekanism energy cubes (they only needed 2 FE) and fixed the Batbox not properly invalidating capabilities.[14]
  • 1.3.6 added worldgen for Canola, Flax and Coffee patches, with a config option to disable it, and fixed the Engineer's House not generating.[15]
  • 1.3.6 fixed the Breaker and Vertical Digger being unable to break blocks tougher than dirt, and fixed the Coffee Machine not consuming water, Coffee not applying effects, and Coffee not turning into an Empty Cup when fully consumed.[15]
  • 1.3.6 also lets you open the Crafting Table On A Stick from a Curios slot, adds a missing XP Solidifier recipe, and fixed the All In One tool having no attributes.[15]

1.3.5 and 1.3.4

  • 1.3.5 overhauled networking, which should fix a lot of crashes on servers. It also added storage block tags for the crystals, tags for the filled buckets, and changed the tag used by Rice Slimeballs to c:slime_balls.[16]
  • 1.3.4 fixed how the Atomic Reconstructor handles the level when adding tooltips, which caused a crash with CM2E.[17]
