What is Generator Galore?

4 parts

Generator Galore adds item-fed generators that turn things you already have into energy. This pack ships version 1.21.1-1.7.0 of the mod, and it is a great way to get your first real power online.[1][2]

The pack has given the mod an overhaul, with cheaper upgrades to the 8x and 64x versions and increased energy production across the board. The quests also say the generator types and recipes have changed. There are no Copper, Gold or Diamond generators now. You get the Iron Generator, the Netherite Generator and a set of unique generators.[2][3]

Where it fits in the progression

You meet the mod in Chapter 1. "The Next Chapter" quest points you at the Magmatic Generator as a lava-powered way to start generating power and move into automation. Chapter 2 then opens the mod up with "Generator Galore" quest. Every generator except the Magmatic one starts from the Iron Generator.[2][3]

The generator lineup

8x and 64x generators

You can compress generators into 8x versions that run at the same rate and efficiency as 8 separate generators in a single machine. "8x the Generator!" quest covers this step. Combining 8x versions gives a 64x generator, which is the subject of "A whole stack in 1 Generator" quest.[2]

The ATM Star path

The mod also shows up in Chapter 4, The ATM Star. Two quests on that path ask for an Ender Generator and an 8x Netherstar Generator, so plan your power setup before you get there.[4]

How do you get started with Generator Galore?

4 parts

Power comes first in this pack, and Generator Galore is where most of it starts. The pack has overhauled the mod: upgrades to the 8x and 64x versions are cheaper, and energy production is increased across the board. Here is the order I'd go in.[3]

Start with the Magmatic Generator

Your first power goal is the Magmatic Generator. The Chapter 1 quest "The Next Chapter" quest tells you to grab some hefty lava generation and get going, and "The Cool Parts" quest, which opens Chapter 2, asks for the same block. It is the one generator that does not start from the Iron Generator.[2][3]

Then the Iron Generator

Next, make the Iron Generator (quest "Generator Galore" quest, which comes after The Cool Parts). The pack changed the generator lineup: you no longer need Copper, Gold or Diamond generators, because the line is now Iron, Netherite and the unique generators. Every generator except the Magmatic one starts with the Iron Generator, and they all turn items into energy.[2]

Pick your next generator

After the Iron Generator, choose based on what your farms produce. These four recipes were all added by the pack and each one uses an Iron Generator.[5]

  • Netherite Generator works exactly like an Iron Generator, just much better.[2]
  • Culinary Generator takes food instead of coal, lava or logs. The more food points a food has, the more energy it gives, so steak beats a carrot.[2]
  • Ender Generator turns ender pearls into energy, which is handy if an Enderman farm leaves you with too many. You can even make Eyes of Ender for more energy.[2]
  • Enchantment Generator uses enchanted books. The level and rarity of the book change how much energy you get.[2]

Further down the line, the Netherstar Generator is described by its quest as the most powerful and efficient generator. In the quest book it comes after the Netherite Generator, and you build it from one.[2][5]

Compress into 8x and 64x

Once a generator is running well, don't keep placing more of them. Combine a generator with a Diamond Gear to get the 8x version, which works at the rate and efficiency of 8 generators in one machine (quest "8x the Generator!" quest). Then combine 8 of the 8x versions with a Netherite Gear to get a 64x version, a whole stack of generators in one block (quest "A whole stack in 1 Generator" quest). The pack changed these recipes.[2][5]

How does Generator Galore work?

4 parts

Generator Galore is a tiered set of generators, and in this pack every tier has its own JSON file. Each file sets a generation rate, a consumption rate, a buffer capacity and a transfer rate, and most also set a fuel type. Once you know those settings, you know how a generator behaves.[6][7][8][9]

Fuel types

Not every generator burns the same kind of fuel. Each tier's fuel type setting (for example fuelType) decides what you have to feed it, so check this before you build anything.[6][7][10]

Output, buffer and transfer

The generator screen shows the remaining fuel time and the transfer rate in FE/t, so you can read the transfer rate straight off the machine. These are the values this pack sets for each tier.[21]

  • Copper: generation rate 8, consumption rate 1.2, buffer capacity 5,000, transfer rate 32.[6]
  • Iron: generation rate 80, consumption rate 1, buffer capacity 20,000, transfer rate 240.[9]
  • Gold: generation rate 32, consumption rate 0.8, buffer capacity 30,000, transfer rate 128.[11]
  • Diamond: generation rate 64, consumption rate 0.6, buffer capacity 100,000, transfer rate 256.[12]
  • Culinary: generation rate 8, consumption rate 1, buffer capacity 100,000, transfer rate 256.[7]
  • Emerald: generation rate 256, consumption rate 0.4, buffer capacity 500,000, transfer rate 512.[13]
  • Obsidian: generation rate 128, consumption rate 0.6, buffer capacity 500,000, transfer rate 512.[14]
  • Honey: generation rate 128, consumption rate 0.5, buffer capacity 500,000, transfer rate 512.[10]
  • Potion: generation rate 16, consumption rate 1, buffer capacity 250,000, transfer rate 1,024.[19]
  • Ender: generation rate 160, consumption rate 1, buffer capacity 500,000, transfer rate 512.[8]
  • Magmatic: generation rate 160, consumption rate 0.8, buffer capacity 500,000, transfer rate 2,048.[18]
  • Enchantment: generation rate 80, consumption rate 1, buffer capacity 1,000,000, transfer rate 2,048.[20]
  • Netherite: generation rate 512, consumption rate 0.4, buffer capacity 1,000,000, transfer rate 2,048.[15]
  • Halitosis: generation rate 256, consumption rate 1, buffer capacity 9,800,000, transfer rate 16,384.[16]
  • Netherstar: generation rate 8,184, consumption rate 2,400, buffer capacity 20,000,000, transfer rate 32,768.[17]

The Netherstar generator sits at the end of the Netherite branch, and its consumption rate of 2,400 is a very different scale from the single-digit rates of the earlier tiers in this list.[15][17]

Tier upgrades

Each tier's config names the tier it comes from with previousTier, and the mod has an upgrade item for each step. Here is the chain as this pack has it.[21]

The pack also changes the crafting recipes for some of the later generators. Here are a few of them.[5]

The configs for Copper, Iron, Gold, Diamond, Emerald and Obsidian all set has64x to false.[6][9][11][12][13][14]

Watch out: This pack turns General.increasedConsumption on, so 8x and 64x generators raise the consumption rate as well as the production rate. A bigger generator needs more fuel, so plan your supply before you upgrade.[22]
Tip: General.tickRate controls how often generators tick. The pack uses the mod default of once every 5 ticks, and the allowed range is 1 to 64. If your world lags with lots of generators, raise it.[22]

Unverified The sources here include no guidebook or documentation for this mod, so they do not show how the upgrade items are applied, how items, fluids and energy move in and out of the generators for automation, or whether any multiblock structures exist. They also do not give the units of the generation and consumption rates, and the Ender generator's config has no fuel type.

How do you progress through Generator Galore?

4 parts

Generator Galore has been overhauled in this pack. The upgrades to 8x and 64x are cheaper, and energy production is increased across the board. The tiers are also reshuffled: you don't climb through Copper, Gold and Diamond generators anymore. The pack only has Iron, Netherite and a set of unique generators.[2][3]

Getting started

Your first push toward generators is the Chapter 1 quest "The Next Chapter" quest, which asks for the Magmatic Generator. Chapter 2 opens with "The Cool Parts" quest, which asks for the same item. The Magmatic Generator is the one generator that doesn't start from the Iron Generator, so it's your entry point.[2][3]

Compressing into 8x and 64x

Once you have a generator type running, "8x the Generator!" quest shows how to compress it. Eight of the same generator plus a Diamond Gear become one 8x generator, which runs at the rate and efficiency of eight generators in a single machine. Every tier has an 8x version, including the Iron Generator. The pack changed all of these 8x recipes.[2][5]

"A whole stack in 1 Generator" quest takes it one step further. Eight 8x generators plus a Netherite Gear become a 64x generator, a whole stack of generators in one block. The 64x quest lists every tier except Iron, and the recipe list likewise has no 64x Iron Generator.[2][5]

The Netherstar version as an example. Every 64x recipe follows the same pattern.

The Netherstar Generator and its 8x version show up again as quest tasks in Chapter 4, along with the Ender Generator. Those quests have no description text, so we can't say more about them.[4]

How does Generator Galore work with other mods?

4 parts

This pack ties Generator Galore into other mods through its recipes and through a few quest notes. Here is where those connections show up.[2][5]

Compression runs on All The Ores gears

The pack changed the 8x upgrade recipes so they use Diamond Gear together with the base generator. The 64x upgrades use Netherite Gear together with the matching 8x generator. This covers the whole line, from the Iron Generator to the unique generators.[2][5]

Generators as ingredients in other recipes

Generator Galore items also appear in All The Tweaks recipes added by the pack. The Ender Generator is one ingredient in the Philosopher's Fuel recipe, which also pulls in items from several other mods.[5]

The Wither's Compass needs an 8x Netherstar Generator, so you have to build that 8x generator first.[5]

The Ender Generator and the 8x Netherstar Generator also appear as quest tasks in Chapter 4: The ATM Star, in the quests a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star" and a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star".[4]

Connections mentioned in the quests

  • The Honey Generator quest calls it a good way of connecting Generator Galore with Productive Bees. It uses Liquid Honey to make energy.[2]
  • The Ender Generator quest suggests burning the spare Ender Pearls from an Enderman farm built for XP or Apotheosis Gems. It also says you can make Eyes of Ender for even more energy.[2]
  • The Halitosis Generator quest says you can farm Dragon's Breath with an Extractor from XyCraft and a Dragon's Head.[2]

The early game quest "The Next Chapter" quest lists Generators Galore alongside Growth Accelerator tiers and Geores as mods to dip into when you start automating. It recommends the directional Growth Accelerator because it is super fast.[3]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Generator Galore?

3 parts

Generator Galore shows up in three quest chapters in this pack. Most of it sits in Chapter 2, where one quest line walks you through every generator type. Chapter 1 gives you the first push and Chapter 4 has a couple of extra hand-in quests.[2][3][4]

Chapter 1: Starting out

"The Next Chapter" quest asks you to get a Magmatic Generator. It unlocks after the Stone Generator, Smelting iron with iron and Crushing Compressed Blocks quests. The quest says the mod got an overhaul in this pack, with cheaper upgrades to the 8x and 64x versions and increased energy production across the board. It also points you toward lava-powered generation as your first real power source.[3]

Chapter 2: The Cool Parts

This is the main chapter. It opens with "The Cool Parts" quest, which asks for another Magmatic Generator and tells you to start thinking about farms. The rest follows in this order:[2]

  1. "Generator Galore" quest asks for an Iron Generator. The quest explains that the generator types and recipes changed in this pack. Copper, Gold and Diamond generators are gone, leaving Iron, Netherite and the unique generators. Every generator except the Magmatic one starts from the Iron Generator.[2]
  2. "Netherite Generator" quest asks for a Netherite Generator, which works like the Iron Generator but much better. a quest in "Chapter 2: The Cool Parts" follows it and asks for a Netherstar Generator, described as the most powerful and efficient generator.[2]
  3. a quest in "Chapter 2: The Cool Parts" asks for a Culinary Generator, which burns food. The more food points a food has, the more energy it gives, so steak beats a carrot. Two quests unlock after it: "Honey Generator" quest for the Honey Generator, which runs on liquid honey, and "Potion Generator" quest for the Potion Generator, which turns potions into energy based on strength and duration.[2]
  4. "Ender Generator" quest asks for an Ender Generator, which burns Ender Pearls. You can make Eyes of Ender for even more energy. "Halitosis Generator" quest follows with the Halitosis Generator, which runs on Dragon's Breath.[2]
  5. "Enchantment Generator" quest asks for an Enchantment Generator, which turns Enchanted Books into energy. The level and rarity of the book change how much you get.[2]
  6. "8x the Generator!" quest asks for any one of the 8x generators, such as the 8x Iron Generator. An 8x generator matches the rate and efficiency of 8 generators in one machine. "A whole stack in 1 Generator" quest comes after it and asks for any 64x generator, such as the 64x Netherite Generator. The quest has no Iron Generator in its 64x list.[2]

Chapter 4: The ATM Star

This chapter has untitled quests that ask for an Ender Generator (a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star") and for a 8x Netherstar Generator (a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star"). Neither has a description in the quest data.[4]

Which Generator Galore config options matter?

4 parts

Generator Galore has a server config file for global behavior, plus one JSON file per generator tier. Here's what this pack sets in each.[6][22]

Server config

  • General.tickRate is 5 in this pack, which is also the mod default. It controls how often generators tick (once every 5 ticks), and it accepts values from 1 to 64.[22]
  • General.increasedConsumption is set to true in this pack. When on, 8x and 64x generators raise the fuel consumption rate and not just the production rate. The config comment says this will be on by default in 1.22.[22]
Tip: If you have a lot of generators and your game starts to lag, raise the tick rate. The config comment recommends increasing it for performance issues.[22]

Per-generator JSON files

Every generator has its own file in config/generatorgalore/generator. The main keys are buffer capacity, consumption rate, fuel type, generation rate and transfer rate, and most tiers also list a previousTier. These are the values this pack uses for the metal tiers.[6][9][11][12][13][15]

  • Copper: generationRate is 8, consumptionRate is 1.2, bufferCapacity is 5,000 and transferRate is 32.[6]
  • Iron: generation 80, consumption 1, buffer 20,000 and transfer 240.[9]
  • Gold: generation 32, consumption 0.8, buffer 30,000 and transfer 128.[11]
  • Diamond: generation 64, consumption 0.6, buffer 100,000 and transfer 256.[12]
  • Emerald: generation 256, consumption 0.4, buffer 500,000 and transfer 512.[13]
  • Netherite: generation 512, consumption 0.4, buffer 1,000,000 and transfer 2,048.[15]

The big end-game tiers

Fuel types

The fuelType key decides what a generator burns. Most of the metal tiers use SOLID. Culinary uses FOOD, enchantment uses ENCHANTMENT, and potion uses POTION. Honey and magmatic use FLUID, and honey's fuel tag is c:honey. The ender file has no fuelType entry.[6][7][8][9][10][12][18][19][20]

The pack sets has64x to false for the copper, iron, gold, diamond, emerald and obsidian generators.[6][9][11][12][13][14]
