What is Generator Galore?

2 parts

Generator Galore adds a whole family of energy generators, and the pack ships version 1.21.1-1.6.3 of it. Each generator burns a different kind of fuel, so it's a great way to turn spare items into power.[1][2]

The pack gives this mod an overhaul. Upgrades to the 8x and 64x versions are cheaper, and energy production is increased across the board. The first generator you're pointed to is the Magmatic Generator, which runs on lava, in the quest "Starting Power" quest.[2][3]

Where it fits in the progression

After the starter power quest, Chapter 2 opens up the rest of the line. The Iron Generator is the key branching point, and you need a Copper Generator to make it. Each upgrade improves everything: how much it makes, how much it holds and what it can transfer to other blocks.[2]

From the Iron Generator the quests branch out to these generators:[2]

  • Culinary Generator: burns food, and the energy depends on the food points. Steak gives more than a carrot.[2]
  • Ender Generator: burns Ender Pearls, and Eyes of Ender give even more energy.[2]
  • Enchantment Generator: burns Enchanted Books, and the level and rarity change the energy you get.[2]
  • Netherite Generator: makes energy at the same rate as an Emerald Generator, but with a much higher transfer rate.[2]
  • Halitosis Generator: unlocked after the Ender Generator, and burns Dragon's Breath.[2]
  • Honey Generator and Potion Generator: unlocked after the Culinary Generator quest. The Honey Generator uses Liquid Honey, and the Potion Generator uses potions based on their strength and duration.[2]
  • Netherstar Generator: unlocked after the Netherite Generator, and described by the quest as the most powerful and efficient generator.[2]

Compact 8x and 64x generators

Crafting 8 of the same generator together gives you one 8x generator. It works like 8 regular generators but takes up the space of one. Crafting 8 of the same 8x generator gives a 64x generator, which works like 64 regular ones in a single block.[2]

Tip: A 64x Magmatic Generator is needed to craft the ATM Star, so it's worth planning your lava power around it.[2]

How do you get started with Generator Galore?

4 parts

Generator Galore has been given an overhaul in this pack: upgrades to 8x and 64x are cheaper, and energy production is increased across the board. That makes it a great way to get your first power going. Here's the order I'd follow.[3]

Step one: make a Magmatic Generator

Your first target is the Magmatic Generator, which the quest "Starting Power" quest points you to. Lava goes in and energy comes out, so grab some lava and you're running.[2][3]

Step two: make an Iron Generator

Next is the Iron Generator, and it's the gateway to everything else. Each upgrade improves how much a generator makes, how much it can hold and how much it can transfer to other blocks. Several of the pack's later generator recipes also start from an Iron Generator.[2][4]

Step three: pick a fuel branch

Once you have an Iron Generator, the quest chapter opens up several more generators. Choose whichever matches what you already produce:[2]

Step four: compress into 8x and 64x

Crafting 8 of the same generator together combines them into one 8x generator. It works like 8 regular generators but takes up the space of one. The quest "8x What a deal!" quest covers this, and the pack changed these recipes.[2][4]

The pack changed this recipe.

Combining 8 of the 8x generators gives a 64x generator, which works like 64 regular ones in the space of one. Keep a 64x Magmatic Generator in mind, because the quest text says it's needed to craft the ATM Star.[2][4]

How does Generator Galore work?

6 parts

Generator Galore is a ladder of generators, and every rung is driven by its own config file in this pack. Each generator has a buffer capacity, a generation rate, a consumption rate, a transfer rate, a fuel type and a previous tier. Once you know how those fit together, the whole mod makes sense.[5][6][7][8]

In the generator screen you can see the remaining fuel time and the transfer rate, which is shown in FE/t.[9]

The upgrade ladder

Each generator's config names the tier it upgrades from, and the mod has a matching upgrade item for every step, such as the Copper to Iron Upgrade. The branches in this pack are:[8][9]

Fuel types

The configs use several fuel types: SOLID, FOOD, FLUID, POTION and ENCHANTMENT. Most of the metal and gem generators burn solid fuel. The Culinary Generator uses food. The Honey Generator uses a fluid and its config points at the c:honey tag. The Potion Generator uses potions, and the Enchantment Generator has the enchantment fuel type. The Netherstar Generator is a solid-fuel generator limited to the c:nether_stars tag. The Magmatic Generator is a fluid generator.[4][6][8][14][16][18][19][20]

Stats per generator in this pack

These are the pack's values for each generator's buffer, generation rate, consumption rate and transfer rate. The tiers are not a perfectly straight ladder. For example, the Iron Generator has a higher generation rate than the Gold Generator.[8][10]

  • Copper Generator: buffer 5,000, generation 8, consumption 1.2, transfer 32, solid fuel.[5]
  • Iron Generator: buffer 20,000, generation 80, consumption 1, transfer 240, solid fuel.[4][8]
  • Gold Generator: buffer 30,000, generation 32, consumption 0.8, transfer 128, solid fuel.[10]
  • Diamond Generator: buffer 100,000, generation 64, consumption 0.6, transfer 256, solid fuel.[7]
  • Emerald Generator: buffer 500,000, generation 256, consumption 0.4, transfer 512, solid fuel.[11]
  • Obsidian Generator: buffer 500,000, generation 128, consumption 0.6, transfer 512, solid fuel.[12]
  • Netherite Generator: buffer 1,000,000, generation 512, consumption 0.4, transfer 2,048, solid fuel.[4][13]
  • Netherstar Generator: buffer 20,000,000, generation 8,184, consumption 2,400, transfer 32,768, solid fuel restricted to the c:nether_stars tag.[4][20]
  • Culinary Generator: buffer 100,000, generation 8, consumption 1, transfer 256, food fuel.[4][6]
  • Honey Generator: buffer 500,000, generation 128, consumption 0.5, transfer 512, fluid fuel from the c:honey tag.[4][18]
  • Potion Generator: buffer 250,000, generation 16, consumption 1, transfer 1,024, potion fuel.[4][19]
  • Enchantment Generator: buffer 1,000,000, generation 80, consumption 1, transfer 2,048, enchantment fuel.[4][14]
  • Ender Generator: buffer 500,000, generation 160, consumption 1, transfer 512. Its config in this pack does not list a fuel type.[4][15]
  • Magmatic Generator: buffer 500,000, generation 160, consumption 0.8, transfer 2,048, fluid fuel.[4][16]
  • Halitosis Generator: buffer 9,800,000, generation 256, consumption 1, transfer 16,384, solid fuel.[4][17]

8x and 64x versions

Generators have 8x and 64x versions. The pack has General.increasedConsumption set to true. That means the 8x and 64x versions raise the consumption rate as well as the production rate, so you don't get the extra power for free.[21]

The pack's configs set has64x to false for the copper, iron, gold, diamond, emerald and obsidian generators. The 64x recipes in this pack cover the culinary, honey, potion, enchantment, ender, magmatic, halitosis, netherite and netherstar generators, and the multiplier recipes shown for them were all changed by the pack. Here is an 8x recipe and a 64x recipe as examples.[4][5][7][8][10][11][12]

Performance

Tip: General.tickRate controls how often generators tick. The pack leaves it at the mod default of 5, which means once every 5 ticks, and the allowed range is 1 to 64. If you're having performance issues, raising this value is what the config suggests.[21]

Unverified The sources don't explain how automation works: which sides accept fuel or output power, whether hoppers or pipes can insert fuel, which fluid the Magmatic Generator accepts, what the Enchantment Generator consumes, what the Ender Generator burns, or what the units of consumption rate and generation rate are. Test these in-world before building around them.

How do you progress through Generator Galore?

5 parts

Generators Galore in this pack works like a tree. You start with a lava-powered generator, make an Iron Generator from it, and then branch out into generators that burn more interesting fuels. The quests in the second chapter follow this path, and the pack has overhauled the mod along the way.[2][3]

Step 1: Your first generator

The "Starting Power" quest quest in Chapter 1 asks for a Magmatic Generator. Lava goes in and energy comes out. The quest says the pack has given the mod an overhaul, with cheaper upgrades to 8x and 64x and increased energy production across the board.[2][3]

The Magmatic Generator recipe is one the pack added.[4]

Step 2: The Iron Generator

The "Iron Generator" quest quest is the hub of the whole chapter. Each upgrade improves everything: how much a generator makes, how much it can hold, and how much it can transfer to other blocks. Every generator after this one builds on it.[2]

Unverified The quest text says you need a Copper Generator to make an Iron Generator. The in-pack Iron Generator recipe shown above does not list one, so check the recipe in-game before you build a Copper Generator. This site does hold All the Mods 10: To the Sky's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Step 3: Branching out from the Iron Generator

Four quests unlock right after the Iron Generator. Each one uses a different fuel or does a different job.[2]

  • Culinary Generator: burns food. The energy depends on the food points, so steak gives more than a carrot.[2]
  • Ender Generator: burns Ender Pearls, and the quest says Eyes of Ender give even more energy.[2]
  • Enchantment Generator: burns Enchanted Books. The level and rarity of the book change the energy you get.[2]
  • Netherite Generator: the quest says it makes energy at the same rate as an Emerald Generator but with a much higher transfer rate.[2]

Step 5: 8x and 64x upgrades

The "8x What a deal!" quest quest covers the compact versions. The quest text says that crafting 8 of the same generator together makes 1 massive generator. It works like 8 regular generators but takes up the space of 1. Crafting 8 of the same 8x generators makes a 64x version, which works like 64 regular generators.[2]

The pack changed the 8x and 64x recipes. Here is the Magmatic line as an example, and the other generators follow the same pattern.[4]

Tip: The quest text says a 64x Magmatic Generator is needed to craft the ATM Star, so your first lava generator is worth upgrading.[2]

Unverified The sources don't give exact energy output or transfer numbers for each generator tier, so check those in-game.

How does Generator Galore work with other mods?

4 parts

Generator Galore doesn't live in its own bubble in this pack. Its generators show up in progression recipes for other mods' items, and a few of its upgrade recipes use gears from another mod's metals.[4]

Gear-based 8x and 64x upgrades

The pack changed the recipes that combine generators into bigger versions. Each 8x generator recipe takes Diamond Gear, and each 64x recipe takes Netherite Gear. Chapter 1 also says the pack made these 8x and 64x upgrades cheaper. Here is the 8x Iron Generator recipe as an example:[3][4]

The 64x step follows the same pattern, shown here for the Magmatic Generator. The quests say a 64x Magmatic Generator is needed to craft the ATM Star.[2][4]

Wither-themed crafting

The pack added its own recipe for the Netherstar Generator. It takes you through the Netherite Generator and brings in a block from the pack's own tweaks, plus a wither skeleton skull. This is the generator the quests call the most powerful and efficient one.[2][4]

Once you have 8x Netherstar Generators, they feed into another pack-added recipe, the Wither's Compass. That recipe also uses items from Actually Additions, Industrial Foregoing and Reliquary.[4]

Philosopher's Fuel

Even the plain Ender Generator has a role in late-game crafting. It is one of the ingredients in the pack's recipe for Philosopher's Fuel. That recipe also draws on Draconic Evolution, Forbidden Arcanus, Iron Furnaces, Just Dire Things and Mystical Agriculture Additions items, among others.[4]

The questbook points out a few other mod connections. The Honey Generator is described as a good way of connecting Productive Bees and Generator Galore, since it burns Liquid Honey for energy. The Ender Generator quest suggests using spare Ender Pearls from an Enderman farm, such as one set up for XP or Apotheosis Gems. The Halitosis Generator quest says you can farm Dragon's Breath with an Extractor from XyCraft and a Dragon's Head.[2]

Unverified The quests only suggest these farming setups. The sources don't confirm exact recipes or rates for them in this pack, so check them in game.

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Generator Galore?

2 parts

Generator Galore shows up in two quest chapters in this pack. Chapter 1 gets you your first power, and Chapter 2 "The Cool Parts" walks you through the rest of the generators.[2][3]

Chapter 1: Starting out

"Starting Power" quest asks you to hand in a Magmatic Generator. The quest text says the mod has been overhauled in this pack, with cheaper upgrades to 8x and 64x and increased energy production across the board. It points you to a lava generator to get going.[3]

Chapter 2: The Cool Parts

Every quest here asks you to submit a generator item. The whole chapter branches off a quest called "Generators, With a Twist!", so that is your starting point. Here is the order.[2]

  1. Right after "Generators, With a Twist!" you can take three quests. "Magmatic Generator" quest wants a Magmatic Generator (lava in, energy out). "Iron Generator" quest wants an Iron Generator, and its text says each upgrade improves output, storage and transfer. "8x What a deal!" quest accepts any one of the 8x generators, such as 8x Copper Generator or 8x Obsidian Generator.[2]
  2. After the Iron Generator, four quests open up. "Netherite Generator" quest wants a Netherite Generator. a quest in "Chapter 2: The Cool Parts" wants a Culinary Generator, which burns food. "Ender Generator" quest wants an Ender Generator. "Enchantment Generator" quest wants an Enchantment Generator, which runs on Enchanted Books.[2]
  3. After the Culinary quest, you get "Honey Generator" quest for a Honey Generator (Liquid Honey) and "Potion Generator" quest for a Potion Generator (potions, based on strength and duration).[2]
  4. After the Ender Generator comes "Halitosis Generator" quest, which wants a Halitosis Generator that makes energy from Dragon's Breath.[2]
  5. After the Netherite Generator comes a quest in "Chapter 2: The Cool Parts", which wants a Netherstar Generator. The quest text calls it the most powerful and efficient generator.[2]
  6. After the 8x quest comes a quest in "Chapter 2: The Cool Parts", which accepts a 64x generator such as 64x Culinary Generator, 64x Magmatic Generator or 64x Netherstar Generator. A 64x generator takes the place of 64 regular ones in a single block.[2]
Tip: The quest text for the 64x quest says a 64x Magmatic Generator is needed to craft the ATM Star, so plan for that one in particular.[2]

The 8x quest text says crafting 8 of the same generator together gives one generator that works like 8 regular ones in the space of 1. The 64x quest applies the same idea to 8 of the 8x generators.[2]

Which Generator Galore config options matter?

4 parts

Generator Galore in this pack has one server file with global settings, plus a separate JSON file for each generator tier. Here are the ones you're most likely to touch, exactly as this pack sets them.[5][21]

Server settings

  • General.tickRate is 5 in this pack, which matches the mod default. It controls how often generators tick (once every 5 ticks), and the allowed range is 1 to 64. Raise it if you're having performance issues.[21]
  • General.increasedConsumption is true in this pack. With it on, the 8x and 64x upgrades raise the consumption rate too, not just the production rate. The config comment says this is planned to become the mod default in 1.22.[21]

Per-generator tiers

Every generator has its own file with a buffer capacity, consumption rate, generation rate and transfer rate, and most also name a previous tier in the upgrade chain. Here are the main solid-fuel tiers as this pack sets them.[5][7][8][10][11][12]

  • Copper: buffer bufferCapacity 5,000, generation rate generationRate 8, consumption rate consumptionRate 1.2, transfer rate transferRate 32.[5]
  • Iron: buffer 20,000, generation rate 80, consumption rate 1, transfer rate 240, previous tier copper.[8]
  • Gold: buffer 30,000, generation rate 32, consumption rate 0.8, transfer rate 128, previous tier iron.[10]
  • Diamond: buffer 100,000, generation rate 64, consumption rate 0.6, transfer rate 256, previous tier gold.[7]
  • Emerald: buffer 500,000, generation rate 256, consumption rate 0.4, transfer rate 512, previous tier diamond.[11]
  • Obsidian: buffer 500,000, generation rate 128, consumption rate 0.6, transfer rate 512, previous tier diamond.[12]
  • Netherite: buffer 1,000,000, generation rate 512, consumption rate 0.4, transfer rate 2,048, previous tier diamond.[13]

Copper, iron, gold, diamond, emerald and obsidian all have has64x set to false in this pack, for example has64x.[5][7][8][10][11][12]

Special-fuel generators

  • Culinary burns food. Buffer 100,000, generation rate 8, consumption rate 1, transfer rate 256, previous tier gold.[6]
  • Honey burns fluid matching the tag c:honey. Buffer 500,000, generation rate 128, consumption rate 0.5, transfer rate 512, previous tier culinary.[18]
  • Potion uses potions as fuel. Buffer 250,000, generation rate 16, consumption rate 1, transfer rate 1,024, previous tier culinary.[19]
  • Enchantment uses enchantments as fuel. Buffer 1,000,000, generation rate 80, consumption rate 1, transfer rate 2,048, previous tier obsidian.[14]
  • Magmatic burns fluid. Buffer 500,000, generation rate 160, consumption rate 0.8, transfer rate 2,048, previous tier obsidian.[16]
  • Ender: buffer 500,000, generation rate 160, consumption rate 1, transfer rate 512, previous tier obsidian.[15]
  • Halitosis burns solid fuel. Buffer 9,800,000, generation rate 256, consumption rate 1, transfer rate 16,384, previous tier ender.[17]

The Nether Star generator

This is the top tier. It takes solid fuel matching the tag c:nether_stars. Buffer is 20,000,000, generation rate 8,184, transfer rate 32,768, and previous tier netherite. Its consumption rate is 2,400, far higher than any other generator's.[20]
