What is AllTheCompressed?
1 part
AllTheCompressed is in the pack at version 4.4.0. It adds compressed versions of common blocks, such as Dirt 6x, Obsidian 5x and Nether Star Block 2x. The item names carry a tier suffix (2x, 4x, 5x, 6x) that shows how many times the block has been compressed.[1][2]
Where it fits: the ATM Star path
In this pack, the mod's items show up as requirements in the "The ATM Star" quest chapter. This is the late-game goal, and the mod works as a big material sink there. You won't use it to get started. You'll use it when you're ready to pile up huge quantities of resources.[2]
These are the compressed items the chapter asks for, with the amounts each quest lists:[2]
- Netherrack 6x: 531,441 Netherrack (a quest in "The ATM Star")[2]
- Dirt 6x: 531,441 Dirt (a quest in "The ATM Star")[2]
- End Stone 5x: 59,049 End Stone (a quest in "The ATM Star")[2]
- Obsidian 5x: 59,049 Obsidian (a quest in "The ATM Star")[2]
- Block of Diamond 4x: 6,561 Diamond Blocks (a quest in "The ATM Star")[2]
- Block of Emerald 4x: 6,561 Emerald Blocks (a quest in "The ATM Star")[2]
The quest "The Star's Casing" quest also needs a Nether Star Block 2x, which is one of the three casing blocks for the ATM Star. The quest text puts the total cost of that block at 10,935 Nether Stars, so start collecting early. The other two casing blocks come from outside this mod: an Unobtainium - Allthemodium Alloy Block and an Uru Metal Block.[2]
Unverified This guide doesn't confirm any other uses of AllTheCompressed in the pack, such as other recipes or config options. Treat the ATM Star quests as its only confirmed role.
How do you get started with AllTheCompressed?
3 parts
AllTheCompressed adds tiered, compressed versions of blocks, with names like Dirt 6x or Block of Diamond 4x. In this pack, the place you'll meet the high tiers is the ATM Star quest chapter, which asks you to hand in several of them. That chapter is the best guide to what to craft first.[2][3]
How the tiers work
Each compress recipe is a shaped craft that takes the tier below it. A chain starts with a 1x item made from the normal block, like Acacia Log 1x. The next step up is Acacia Log 2x, and so on.[3]
Crafting Shaped
9 × Acacia Log
Recipe id: allthecompressed:compress/acacia_log_1x
The first step of a chain: the plain Acacia Log becomes a 1x.
There are also shapeless decompress recipes, such as the one that turns Dirt 7x back into Dirt 6x. If you go one tier too high, you can step back down.[3]
What the quest book asks for
The ATM Star chapter lists these compressed items as quest tasks. The amounts below are the ones in the quest titles:[2]
- a quest in "The ATM Star": 531,441 Dirt, handed in as Dirt 6x.[2]
- a quest in "The ATM Star": 531,441 Netherrack, handed in as Netherrack 6x.[2]
- a quest in "The ATM Star": 59,049 End Stone, handed in as End Stone 5x.[2]
- a quest in "The ATM Star": 59,049 Obsidian, handed in as Obsidian 5x.[2]
- a quest in "The ATM Star": 6,561 Diamond Blocks, handed in as Block of Diamond 4x.[2]
- a quest in "The ATM Star": 6,561 Emerald Blocks, handed in as Block of Emerald 4x.[2]
- "The Star's Casing" quest: the casing quest, which includes Nether Star Block 2x.[2]
The top-tier crafts
Each of these quest targets is one shaped craft from the tier right below it. The bulk blocks need the biggest piles of raw material, so it makes sense to start gathering for them early, and to save the Nether Star Block for when you have stars.[2][3]
Dirt 5x becomes Dirt 6x.
Crafting Shaped
9 × Netherrack 5x
Recipe id: allthecompressed:compress/netherrack_6x
Netherrack 5x becomes Netherrack 6x.
Crafting Shaped
9 × End Stone 4x

Obsidian 4x becomes Obsidian 5x.
Block of Diamond 3x becomes Block of Diamond 4x.
Block of Emerald 3x becomes Block of Emerald 4x.

How does AllTheCompressed work?
2 parts
The recipes shown for AllTheCompressed are all shaped crafting recipes. That means compressing happens in a normal crafting grid, and the sources here show no machine, multiblock, power or fluid step for it.[3]
How the compression chain works
Each material gets a ladder of tiers, named 1x up to 9x. The first tier, such as Acacia Log 1x, is crafted from the ordinary base block. Every later tier, such as Acacia Log 2x, is crafted from the tier directly below it. The recipe ids follow the pattern compress/material_tierx, for example compress/acacia_log_2x.[3]
Crafting Shaped
9 × Acacia Log
Recipe id: allthecompressed:compress/acacia_log_1x
The first step of the Acacia Log ladder, a shaped crafting recipe.
Crafting Shaped
9 × Acacia Log 1x
Recipe id: allthecompressed:compress/acacia_log_2x
Every step up the ladder follows this same pattern, using the previous tier.
The Acacia Log and Acacia Planks ladders both run from 1x to 9x, and so does the Allthemodium Block ladder. The Aluminum Block entries shown stop at 2x only because the recipe list is cut off, so the top tier there is not confirmed. The dump also says 2,948 more recipes are not shown, so other materials exist that this section cannot describe.[3]
Recipes the pack changed
The Acacia recipes are listed as the mod's own recipes. The Allthemodium and Aluminum ladders are marked as changed by the pack, so they are the pack's version and may differ from the mod on its own.[3]
The first Allthemodium step produces Allthemodium Block 1x from the Block of Allthemodium, and each later tier builds on the one before it, up to Allthemodium Block 9x.[3]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: allthecompressed:compress/allthemodium_block_1x
This recipe is marked as changed by the pack.
The first Aluminum step is flexible. It accepts any block from the common aluminum storage block tag, so aluminum blocks from different mods all work. The result is Aluminum Block 1x, and Aluminum Block 2x is crafted from that.[3]
Crafting Shaped
9 × any aluminum storage block
Recipe id: allthecompressed:compress/aluminum_block_1x
Changed by the pack; it accepts any block from the common aluminum storage block tag.
How do you progress through AllTheCompressed?
3 parts
Progression with AllTheCompressed is a ladder of compression tiers. Every step up is a crafting table recipe that turns the previous tier into the next one. For some materials the ladder runs from 1x all the way to 9x, and Acacia Log is a good example.[3]
How a tier step works
The first step turns the plain block into the 1x version, and every later step takes the previous tier as its input. For example, Dirt 5x crafts into Dirt 6x. The compress recipes are shaped crafting recipes. The matching decompress recipes are shapeless and turn a higher tier back into the one below it.[3]
One tier step: Dirt 5x into Dirt 6x.
What the pack's quests ask for
The quests that ask for compressed blocks sit in the chapter called The ATM Star. Each one asks for one specific tier of a material.[2]
- a quest in "The ATM Star": Netherrack 6x, listed as 531,441 Netherrack.[2]
- a quest in "The ATM Star": Dirt 6x, listed as 531,441 Dirt.[2]
- a quest in "The ATM Star": End Stone 5x, listed as 59,049 End Stone.[2]
- a quest in "The ATM Star": Obsidian 5x, listed as 59,049 Obsidian.[2]
- a quest in "The ATM Star": Block of Diamond 4x, listed as 6,561 Diamond Blocks.[2]
- a quest in "The ATM Star": Block of Emerald 4x, listed as 6,561 Emerald Blocks.[2]
Each of these tiers has a compress recipe in the pack that builds on the tier below it. Netherrack goes from 5x to 6x, Dirt from 5x to 6x, End Stone from 4x to 5x, Obsidian from 4x to 5x, and Diamond Blocks and Emerald Blocks from 3x to 4x.[3]
The Star's Casing
"The Star's Casing" quest asks for three kinds of block: an Unobtainium - Allthemodium Alloy Block, Nether Star Block 2x, and an Uru Metal Block. The quest says the alloy block is made with an Enchanting Apparatus from Ars Nouveau. It also says Uru Metal is an alloy made with Tinker's Construct Productive Metalworks.[2]
The quest walks you through the Nether Star ladder: nine Nether Stars make a Nether Star Block, nine of those make a Compressed 1x block, and nine of those make a 2x block. It puts the total at 10,935 Nether Stars.[2]
The recipe from Nether Star Block 1x to 2x is marked as changed by the pack, and so is its decompress recipe. Go by the recipe shown below rather than assuming the mod default.[3]

How does AllTheCompressed work with other mods?
3 parts
AllTheCompressed doesn't add its own materials. It takes blocks that other mods already give you and lets you squash them into denser versions, so almost all of its connections to the rest of the pack are compress and decompress crafting recipes. Every one of these recipes is flagged as changed by the pack, so this is how this pack handles them, not necessarily the mod's defaults.[3]
Compressing blocks from other mods
Each compress recipe turns one block from another mod into the matching AllTheCompressed block. Here is what the recipe dump shows, grouped by where the starting block comes from.[3]
- All the Modium blocks: Block of Allthemodium, Block of Raw Allthemodium, Block of Vibranium, Block of Unobtainium, their raw and alloy variants, Block of Piglich Hearts, Ancient Log and Ancient Stone all have compress recipes.[3]
- Ender IO alloys: Dark Steel Block, End Steel Block, Soularium Block, Vibrant Alloy Block, Pulsating Alloy Block, Energetic Alloy Block, Conductive Alloy Block and Redstone Alloy Block can be compressed.[3]
- Powah blocks: Block Of Blazing Crystal, Block Of Niotic Crystal, Block Of Nitro Crystal, Block Of Spirited Crystal, Block Of Energized Steel and Block Of Uraninite.[3]
- Applied Energistics 2 and its add-ons: Fluix Block, Certus Quartz Block, Sky Stone, Entro Block, Block of Silicon, Sky Steel Block, Sky Bronze Block, Sky Osmium Block and Charged Redstone Crystal Block.[3]
- Pack-specific and other mods: ATM Star Block, Nether Star Block, Salt Block, Block of Compressed Iron, Darkstone, Wax Block and the Antimatter Pellet, which compresses into Antimatter Block.[3]
Here is what a typical compress recipe looks like, using Fluix.[3]
Crafting Shaped
9 × Fluix Block
Recipe id: allthecompressed:compress/fluix_block_1x
Decompressing back to the original block
Decompressing is the reverse step, and the recipe dump lists it for many blocks from other mods. The AllTheOres blocks appear here too, such as Osmium Block, Lead Block, Platinum Block, Bronze Block, Enderium Block and the raw ore block Raw Silver Block. The recipe below shows one example.[3]
Crafting Shapeless
Recipe id: allthecompressed:decompress/osmium_block_1x
The ATM Star quests
The other big connection is the questbook. The ATM Star chapter asks for compressed blocks, and several quests are plain item submissions: a quest in "The ATM Star" wants Netherrack 6x, a quest in "The ATM Star" wants Dirt 6x, a quest in "The ATM Star" wants End Stone 5x, a quest in "The ATM Star" wants Obsidian 5x, a quest in "The ATM Star" wants Block of Diamond 4x and a quest in "The ATM Star" wants Block of Emerald 4x.[2]
"The Star's Casing" quest is the one that mixes several mods. Its tasks are Block of Unobtainium - Allthemodium Alloy, Nether Star Block 2x and an Uru Metal Block. The quest text says the alloy blocks are made with an Enchanting Apparatus from Ars Nouveau. It says the Uru Metal Blocks are alloys made with Tinker's Construct Productive Metalworks, using a Foundry fuelled by Soul Lava.[2]
Which All the Mons quests use AllTheCompressed?
2 parts
Every quest here that involves this mod sits in one chapter, "The ATM Star". It holds a casing quest with a few different blocks, plus a set of quests that each ask for one huge compressed block from this mod.[2]
The Star's Casing
"The Star's Casing" quest is the only quest in the chapter with a written explanation. Its tasks are an Unobtainium - Allthemodium Alloy Block, a Nether Star Block 2x, and an Uru Metal Block. The quest says the ATM Star needs these blocks to hold the different items together and give it its star shape.[2]
The quest text points you to an Enchanting Apparatus from Ars Nouveau for the alloy blocks. For the Nether Star Block 2x, you start by combining 9 Nether Stars in a Crafting Table to make a Nether Star Block. Combine 9 of those for a Compressed Nether Star Block 1X, then combine 9 of those for one 2X block. The quest puts the total at 10,935 Nether Stars.[2]
Uru Metal Blocks are alloys made with Tinker's Construct Productive Metalworks. The quest lists Heavy Core, Meat, Tyrian Steel, Allthemodium, Vibranium and Unobtainium as the ingredients, and says you need Soul Lava as fuel for the Foundry to melt everything down together.[2]
The compressed block quests
These quests have no title in the pack. Each one has a single item task for a compressed block from this mod, with the amount given in its description:[2]
- a quest in "The ATM Star": 531,441 Netherrack, using Netherrack 6x.[2]
- a quest in "The ATM Star": 531,441 Dirt, using Dirt 6x.[2]
- a quest in "The ATM Star": 59,049 End Stone, using End Stone 5x.[2]
- a quest in "The ATM Star": 59,049 Obsidian, using Obsidian 5x.[2]
- a quest in "The ATM Star": 6,561 Diamond Blocks, using Block of Diamond 4x.[2]
- a quest in "The ATM Star": 6,561 Emerald Blocks, using Block of Emerald 4x.[2]
