What is AllTheCompressed?

2 parts

AllTheCompressed adds compressed versions of common blocks, and in this pack it shows up as part of the ATM Star path. The pack ships version 4.4.0 of the mod (the 1.21.1 build), and it has been included since at least 0.3.0-beta.[1]

Where it fits in the progression

You'll mostly meet this mod in the "The ATM Star" quest chapter. Several quests there ask you to hand in compressed items instead of ordinary blocks. If you're working toward the ATM Star, this is the mod that turns the grind into a bulk-materials challenge.[2]

These are the compressed items the chapter asks for, with the amounts shown in each quest's title:[2]

The mod also supplies one of the three items in "The Star's Casing" quest: Nether Star Block 2x, alongside an Unobtainium - Allthemodium Alloy Block and an Uru metal block. The quest text says these blocks hold the ATM Star's different items together and give it its star shape. It also says the alloy blocks need an Enchanting Apparatus from Ars Nouveau.[2]

Who it's for

If you're chasing the ATM Star, you'll need this mod. Plan ahead for the big compressed-block quests, since the chapter lists them with very large amounts.[2]

Unverified The sources don't show how the compressed blocks are crafted in this pack, whether the pack changed any of the mod's recipes or configs, or whether the mod has uses beyond the ATM Star quests. Check in-game recipe viewers before planning your resources. This site does hold All the Mons's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How do you get started with AllTheCompressed?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mons 1.3.0 guide

AllTheCompressed adds tiered, compressed versions of blocks, with names like Dirt 6x or Block of Diamond 4x. In this pack, the place you'll meet the high tiers is the ATM Star quest chapter, which asks you to hand in several of them. That chapter is the best guide to what to craft first.[3][4]

How the tiers work

Each compress recipe is a shaped craft that takes the tier below it. A chain starts with a 1x item made from the normal block, like Acacia Log 1x. The next step up is Acacia Log 2x, and so on.[4]

The first step of a chain: the plain Acacia Log becomes a 1x.

There are also shapeless decompress recipes, such as the one that turns Dirt 7x back into Dirt 6x. If you go one tier too high, you can step back down.[4]

What the quest book asks for

The ATM Star chapter lists these compressed items as quest tasks. The amounts below are the ones in the quest titles:[3]

The top-tier crafts

Each of these quest targets is one shaped craft from the tier right below it. The bulk blocks need the biggest piles of raw material, so it makes sense to start gathering for them early, and to save the Nether Star Block for when you have stars.[3][4]

Watch out: The recipe for Nether Star Block 2x was changed by the pack. The casing quest text says the whole casing comes to 10,935 Nether Stars, so plan your star supply before you start crafting it.[3][4]

How does AllTheCompressed work?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mons 1.3.0 guide

The recipes shown for AllTheCompressed are all shaped crafting recipes. That means compressing happens in a normal crafting grid, and the sources here show no machine, multiblock, power or fluid step for it.[4]

How the compression chain works

Each material gets a ladder of tiers, named 1x up to 9x. The first tier, such as Acacia Log 1x, is crafted from the ordinary base block. Every later tier, such as Acacia Log 2x, is crafted from the tier directly below it. The recipe ids follow the pattern compress/material_tierx, for example compress/acacia_log_2x.[4]

Acacia Log 2xMod recipe

Crafting Shaped

Recipe id: allthecompressed:compress/acacia_log_2x

Every step up the ladder follows this same pattern, using the previous tier.

The Acacia Log and Acacia Planks ladders both run from 1x to 9x, and so does the Allthemodium Block ladder. The Aluminum Block entries shown stop at 2x only because the recipe list is cut off, so the top tier there is not confirmed. The dump also says 2,948 more recipes are not shown, so other materials exist that this section cannot describe.[4]

Recipes the pack changed

The Acacia recipes are listed as the mod's own recipes. The Allthemodium and Aluminum ladders are marked as changed by the pack, so they are the pack's version and may differ from the mod on its own.[4]

The first Allthemodium step produces Allthemodium Block 1x from the Block of Allthemodium, and each later tier builds on the one before it, up to Allthemodium Block 9x.[4]

The first Aluminum step is flexible. It accepts any block from the common aluminum storage block tag, so aluminum blocks from different mods all work. The result is Aluminum Block 1x, and Aluminum Block 2x is crafted from that.[4]

How do you progress through AllTheCompressed?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mons 1.3.0 guide

Progression with AllTheCompressed is a ladder of compression tiers. Every step up is a crafting table recipe that turns the previous tier into the next one. For some materials the ladder runs from 1x all the way to 9x, and Acacia Log is a good example.[4]

How a tier step works

The first step turns the plain block into the 1x version, and every later step takes the previous tier as its input. For example, Dirt 5x crafts into Dirt 6x. The compress recipes are shaped crafting recipes. The matching decompress recipes are shapeless and turn a higher tier back into the one below it.[4]

What the pack's quests ask for

The quests that ask for compressed blocks sit in the chapter called The ATM Star. Each one asks for one specific tier of a material.[3]

Each of these tiers has a compress recipe in the pack that builds on the tier below it. Netherrack goes from 5x to 6x, Dirt from 5x to 6x, End Stone from 4x to 5x, Obsidian from 4x to 5x, and Diamond Blocks and Emerald Blocks from 3x to 4x.[4]

The Star's Casing

"The Star's Casing" quest asks for three kinds of block: an Unobtainium - Allthemodium Alloy Block, Nether Star Block 2x, and an Uru Metal Block. The quest says the alloy block is made with an Enchanting Apparatus from Ars Nouveau. It also says Uru Metal is an alloy made with Tinker's Construct Productive Metalworks.[3]

The quest walks you through the Nether Star ladder: nine Nether Stars make a Nether Star Block, nine of those make a Compressed 1x block, and nine of those make a 2x block. It puts the total at 10,935 Nether Stars.[3]

The recipe from Nether Star Block 1x to 2x is marked as changed by the pack, and so is its decompress recipe. Go by the recipe shown below rather than assuming the mod default.[4]

How does AllTheCompressed work with other mods?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mons 1.3.0 guide

AllTheCompressed doesn't add its own materials. It takes blocks that other mods already give you and lets you squash them into denser versions, so almost all of its connections to the rest of the pack are compress and decompress crafting recipes. Every one of these recipes is flagged as changed by the pack, so this is how this pack handles them, not necessarily the mod's defaults.[4]

Compressing blocks from other mods

Each compress recipe turns one block from another mod into the matching AllTheCompressed block. Here is what the recipe dump shows, grouped by where the starting block comes from.[4]

Here is what a typical compress recipe looks like, using Fluix.[4]

Fluix Block 1xChanged by the pack

Crafting Shaped

9 × Fluix Block

Recipe id: allthecompressed:compress/fluix_block_1x

Decompressing back to the original block

Decompressing is the reverse step, and the recipe dump lists it for many blocks from other mods. The AllTheOres blocks appear here too, such as Osmium Block, Lead Block, Platinum Block, Bronze Block, Enderium Block and the raw ore block Raw Silver Block. The recipe below shows one example.[4]

9× Osmium BlockChanged by the pack

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: allthecompressed:decompress/osmium_block_1x

The ATM Star quests

The other big connection is the questbook. The ATM Star chapter asks for compressed blocks, and several quests are plain item submissions: a quest in "The ATM Star" wants Netherrack 6x, a quest in "The ATM Star" wants Dirt 6x, a quest in "The ATM Star" wants End Stone 5x, a quest in "The ATM Star" wants Obsidian 5x, a quest in "The ATM Star" wants Block of Diamond 4x and a quest in "The ATM Star" wants Block of Emerald 4x.[3]

"The Star's Casing" quest is the one that mixes several mods. Its tasks are Block of Unobtainium - Allthemodium Alloy, Nether Star Block 2x and an Uru Metal Block. The quest text says the alloy blocks are made with an Enchanting Apparatus from Ars Nouveau. It says the Uru Metal Blocks are alloys made with Tinker's Construct Productive Metalworks, using a Foundry fuelled by Soul Lava.[3]

Watch out: The Nether Star part adds up fast. The quest says 9 Nether Stars make a Nether Star Block, 9 of those make a Nether Star Block 1x, and 9 of those make a Nether Star Block 2x. It puts the total at 10,935 Nether Stars, so start collecting early.[3]

Which All the Mons quests use AllTheCompressed?

2 parts

In this pack, AllTheCompressed shows up in one quest chapter: The ATM Star. The compressed blocks in it are the items you hand in for the quests.[2]

The compressed block quests

Six quests in the chapter have no title. Each one is labelled with a big amount of a plain material, and each has a single task that asks for one compressed block from this mod.[2]

The Star's Casing

"The Star's Casing" quest has three tasks. You need Block of Unobtainium - Allthemodium Alloy, Nether Star Block 2x and Uru Metal Block. The quest text says the ATM Star needs these blocks to hold its items together and give it its star shape.[2]

The quest text also says the Unobtainium - Allthemodium Alloy Blocks are made with an Enchanting Apparatus from Ars Nouveau. The Nether Star Block 2x is the only compressed item among the three.[2]

Unverified The chapter data I have doesn't show the order of these quests or which ones unlock others, so I can't say what order to do them in. Check the in-game quest book for that.
