What is Apothic Enchanting?
1 part
Apothic Enchanting is in the pack at version 1.6.1, and it has been there since 1.0.0 or earlier. In the quest book its content is enchanting gear: a whole ladder of special bookshelves such as the Hellshelf and Deepshelf, a set of tomes like Tome of Scrapping and Tome of Extraction, and the Enchantment Library and Library of Alexandria.[1][2]
The pack's quest book puts all of it in the "gearing_up" chapter, which has 107 quests. Every Apothic Enchanting quest hangs off the a quest in "?" quest, so vanilla enchanting is where you start.[2]
Four quests unlock straight after the enchanting table: a quest in "?", a quest in "?" (it asks for the Beeshelf, Melonshelf and Stoneshelf), a quest in "?" and a quest in "?". The Tome of Boots quest asks for one of the scrapping or extraction tomes plus one of the gear tomes.[2]
The shelf chain
The main path is a chain of quests. The first one, a quest in "?", comes after the enchanting table quest and one untitled quest. Here is the order from there:[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Hellshelf, the Seashelf and an Spirit Attuned Crystal.[2]
- a quest in "?" comes next and asks for the Infused Hellshelf and the Infused Seashelf.[2]
- Three quests branch off it: a quest in "?", a quest in "?" and a quest in "?".[2]
- a quest in "?" follows the Blazing Hellshelf quest.[2]
- Then comes a quest in "?", which asks for the Infused Dragon's Breath, followed by a quest in "?".[2]
- a quest in "?" comes after that, and it splits into two final quests: a quest in "?", which asks for the God-Fused Pearl and the Enchanting Table of the Raven, and a quest in "?".[2]
The sources here show only part of the "gearing_up" chapter, so 41 of its quests are not covered. Check the quest book itself for those.[2]
Unverified The sources here do not show this mod on the ATM Star quest path, so check the quest book if you are following that path.
How do you get started with Apothic Enchanting?
7 parts
Apothic Enchanting is mostly about building better shelves around an enchanting table, and this pack's quest book walks you through it in the gearing up chapter. It all starts from one quest: a plain enchanting table. Here is the order I'd go in.[2]
Step 1: get an enchanting table
Quest a quest in "?" asks for the vanilla enchanting table, and most of the mod's quests hang off it: the Enchantment Library, the Beeshelf group, the Geode-Encased Bookshelf, the Tome of Boots and the Hellshelf quest all come after it. The Apothic Enchanting Table is only a cosmetic variant of the Enchanting Table, so the quest does not need it. The pack did change its recipe, though, in case you want one for looks.[2][3][4]

Step 2: the first three shelves
Quest a quest in "?" asks for a Beeshelf, a Melonshelf and a Stoneshelf. These are the first shelves of the mod, so make them before moving on.[2]

Step 3: tomes
Quest a quest in "?" wants one scrapping or extraction tome plus one gear tome (helmet, chestplate, leggings, boots, weapon, bow, pickaxe, fishing or other). A Tome of Scrapping is the base of the scrapping line. Infusing it gives the Tome of Superior Scrapping, and infusing that gives the Tome of Extraction.[2][4]

Step 5: infuse them
Next, quest a quest in "?" wants the infused versions. They come from infusion recipes, one for each base shelf. The mod's own advancements describe this as obtaining them through Infusion Enchanting.[2][3][4]

Step 6: upgrade the infused shelves
Quest a quest in "?" asks for a Blazing Hellshelf or Glowing Hellshelf, plus a Crystalline Seashelf or Heart-Forged Seashelf. After the Infused Hellshelf quest you also get two side quests: a quest in "?" for the Seashelf of Aquatic Filtration and a quest in "?" for the Hellshelf of Sight or Hellshelf of Masterful Sight.[2]

Where it leads
Quest a quest in "?" comes after the Blazing Hellshelf quest and asks for a Deepshelf plus one of its upgrades. A Deepshelf comes from infusing a Dormant Deepshelf.[2][4]
The World Engine tier 2 chapter has its own Blazing Hellshelf quest a quest in "?", which follows the echo shard quest a quest in "?" and one untitled quest. A Deepshelf quest a quest in "?" comes right after it.[5]
Back in the gearing up chapter, the chain continues with Infused Dragon's Breath a quest in "?", then the Endshelf a quest in "?" and the Draconic Endshelf a quest in "?". After that come the God-Fused Pearl quest a quest in "?", which also asks for the Enchanting Table of the Raven, and the Library of Alexandria a quest in "?".[2]

How does Apothic Enchanting work?
5 parts
Apothic Enchanting is built around the enchanting stats Eterna, Arcana and Quanta. The mod's advancements ask you to enchant at 50% and 100% Arcana, at 0%, 50% and 100% Quanta, and to enchant with at least 10 of each stat. There is also a stat called Quantic Stability, which you need for the max rectified advancement. Most of what follows is about how you push those stats around.[3]
Enchanting tables
The Apothic Enchanting Table is described by the mod as a cosmetic variant of the Enchanting Table. The pack changed its crafting recipe, so use this one rather than a mod default you may remember.[3][4]

The Enchanting Table of the Raven is the one that gives you control: the mod says it allows manually customizing the core enchanting stats. The pack also changed this recipe, and it is registered under the apotheosis namespace.[3][4]

The mod also has a limit on how much Eterna you can use in an Enchanting Table, described as the maximum amount of Eterna you can use.[3]
Shelves
Shelves are the blocks you build around a table to shape your stats. The mod has a long ladder of them, and many are upgrades of an earlier shelf. These are the upgrade steps the sources confirm.[3][4]
- Endshelf to Draconic Endshelf: a normal crafting recipe, and an advancement is tied to this upgrade.[3][4]
- Infused Hellshelf to Blazing Hellshelf: also a normal crafting recipe.[3][4]
- Hellshelf of Sight to Hellshelf of Masterful Sight: the pack changed this recipe.[3][4]
- Dormant Deepshelf to Deepshelf: this is an infusion recipe, and the mod has an advancement for activating a Dormant Deepshelf.[3][4]
- Infused Hellshelf and Infused Seashelf are both obtained through Infusion Enchanting, and each can be upgraded further.[3]
- A Sculkshelf is created using a Warden Tendril.[3]

Infusion recipes
Apothic Enchanting adds its own recipe type, apothic_enchanting:infusion, and the pack has 6 of these. The Deepshelf activation above is one, and the Infused Dragon's Breath recipe below is another. A variant type called keep_nbt_infusion handles the upgrade from the Enchantment Library to the Library of Alexandria (Library of Alexandria), shown after it.[4]

If you run Create: Enchantment Industry, the pack also has a Create filling recipe for Infused Dragon's Breath. It takes 250 of that mod's Infused Dragon's Breath plus a glass bottle, and the pack changed it. This gives you an automatable route to the item, since Create's filling is a machine process.[4]

Other mechanics worth knowing
- The Altar of the Seas can turn unwanted enchanted items into a new book.[3]
- An anvil enchanted with Splitting, dropped on an enchanted book, can split that book apart.[3]
- Tomes such as Tome of Boots, Tome of the Archers and Tome of the Others are craftable, and the Basic Bookshelf and the Apothic Enchanting Table both take a tome from the tomes tag.[4]

How do you progress through Apothic Enchanting?
5 parts
The pack's quest book turns Apothic Enchanting into a ladder of shelves. It all hangs off the quest for the vanilla Enchanting Table, and from there you climb from simple shelves to the end-game Library of Alexandria. The recipes below are the in-pack versions, and I flag the ones the pack changed.[2]
First steps after the enchanting table
Several quests unlock straight after a quest in "?", so you can take them in any order.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Enchantment Library.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Beeshelf, the Melonshelf and the Stoneshelf.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for one scrapping or extraction tome plus one of the equipment tomes, such as the Tome of Boots or the Tome of the Miners.[2]

Its Deepshelf quest (a quest in "?") asks for a Deepshelf and an Echoing Deepshelf, and a game stage quest follows it.[5]
The End tier
a quest in "?" comes after the Deepshelf quest and asks for Infused Dragon's Breath. Infusing plain dragon's breath gives you 3 per craft. The pack also changed the Create: Enchantment Industry filling recipe, so you can fill a glass bottle with 250 of that mod's infused dragon breath fluid instead.[2][4]

How does Apothic Enchanting work with other mods?
4 parts
Apothic Enchanting does not sit on its own in this pack. Its Infused Dragon's Breath and a few of its shelves show up in recipes from Create: Enchantment Industry, Apotheosis, Gateways To Eternity and the pack's own World Engine machine. Each recipe below is listed as changed or added by the pack, so it can differ from what you know from the mods' defaults.[4]
Create: Enchantment Industry
The pack changed the Create recipes that convert Infused Dragon's Breath to and from the fluid version, Infused Dragon's Breath. Emptying one bottle gives you 250 units of the fluid and gives back a glass bottle. Filling takes 250 units of the fluid plus a glass bottle and gives you the Apothic item again. That lets you move the breath through Create pipes and tanks.[4]

The dragon_heart recipe uses items from Draconic Evolution, Industrial Foregoing, Modular Force Field System, ProjectE and The Twilight Forest. The soul_cage recipe uses items from Ender IO, Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks and the pack's own Soul Cage. The recipe dump does not show what either recipe produces.[4]

Where the quest book connects them
The Apothic Enchanting quests live in the "gearing_up" chapter, right after the vanilla a quest in "?" quest. That chapter also covers gear from many other mods, so the shelves sit among those quests. The a quest in "?" quest asks for a Hellshelf and a Seashelf, and also for an item from Occultism, the spirit attuned crystal.[2]
Further along, a quest in "?" comes after a quest in "?", then a quest in "?" and a quest in "?". From the Draconic Endshelf quest the book branches into a quest in "?", which asks for the God-Fused Pearl and the Raven table, and a quest in "?". That puts the breath, the main item shared with the other mods above, in the middle of the shelf progression. The text of 67 quests in this chapter is not shown in the sources here, so check the quest book for the rest.[2]
