What is Apothic Enchanting?
1 part
Apothic Enchanting is in the pack at version 1.5.3, and it has been there since 1.0.0 or earlier.[1]
The pack's quest book shows what the mod is about: a ladder of enchanting shelves, a set of tomes and two kinds of library. You meet shelves like Hellshelf, Seashelf, Deepshelf and Endshelf, tomes like Tome of Extraction and Tome of Scrapping, and the Enchantment Library and Library of Alexandria.[2]
Where it sits in the quest book
Most of the mod lives in the "gearing_up" chapter, which is a big gear chapter of 106 quests. The Apothic Enchanting quests hang off the a quest in "?" quest, the one that asks for the vanilla enchanting table. These quests come straight after it:[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Enchantment Library.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Beeshelf, Melonshelf and Stoneshelf.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for one of the extraction or scrapping tomes, plus one of the other tomes (helmets, chestplates, legplates, boots, weaponry, archers, miners, fishers or others).[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Hellshelf, the Seashelf and an Spirit Attuned Crystal. It comes after the enchanting table quest and one untitled quest.[2]
From the Hellshelf quest the shelves form a chain. Here is the order the quest book gives:[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Infused Hellshelf and Infused Seashelf.[2]
- Three quests branch from it: a quest in "?", a quest in "?" and a quest in "?".[2]
- The Blazing Hellshelf quest leads to a quest in "?", then a quest in "?" for the Infused Dragon's Breath.[2]
- After that come a quest in "?" and a quest in "?".[2]
- The chain ends at a quest in "?", which asks for the Library of Alexandria.[2]
The mod shows up in a second chapter too, the World Engine Tier 2 chapter, which has 22 quests. Its a quest in "?" quest asks for an enchanting table, a Hellshelf or Seashelf, and one of the upgraded hell or sea shelves. It comes after a quest in "?" and one untitled quest.[3]
a quest in "?" follows it and asks for the Deepshelf and Echoing Deepshelf, and an untitled game stage quest comes after that. A second quest, a quest in "?", asks for the same two items after a different untitled quest.[3]
Unverified The sources here do not show this mod as part of the ATM Star quest path. Sixty of the 106 quests in "gearing_up" are not included in the sources here, so check the quest book for what they say.
How do you get started with Apothic Enchanting?
7 parts
Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.20.1 guide
Apothic Enchanting is mostly about building better shelves around an enchanting table, and this pack's quest book walks you through it in the gearing up chapter. It all starts from one quest: a plain enchanting table. Here is the order I'd go in.[4]
Step 1: get an enchanting table
Quest a quest in "?" asks for the vanilla enchanting table, and most of the mod's quests hang off it: the Enchantment Library, the Beeshelf group, the Geode-Encased Bookshelf, the Tome of Boots and the Hellshelf quest all come after it. The Apothic Enchanting Table is only a cosmetic variant of the Enchanting Table, so the quest does not need it. The pack did change its recipe, though, in case you want one for looks.[4][5][6]
Step 2: the first three shelves
Quest a quest in "?" asks for a Beeshelf, a Melonshelf and a Stoneshelf. These are the first shelves of the mod, so make them before moving on.[4]

Step 3: tomes
Quest a quest in "?" wants one scrapping or extraction tome plus one gear tome (helmet, chestplate, leggings, boots, weapon, bow, pickaxe, fishing or other). A Tome of Scrapping is the base of the scrapping line. Infusing it gives the Tome of Superior Scrapping, and infusing that gives the Tome of Extraction.[4][6]

Step 4: Hellshelf and Seashelf

Step 5: infuse them
Next, quest a quest in "?" wants the infused versions. They come from infusion recipes, one for each base shelf. The mod's own advancements describe this as obtaining them through Infusion Enchanting.[4][5][6]

Step 6: upgrade the infused shelves
Quest a quest in "?" asks for a Blazing Hellshelf or Glowing Hellshelf, plus a Crystalline Seashelf or Heart-Forged Seashelf. After the Infused Hellshelf quest you also get two side quests: a quest in "?" for the Seashelf of Aquatic Filtration and a quest in "?" for the Hellshelf of Sight or Hellshelf of Masterful Sight.[4]

Where it leads
Quest a quest in "?" comes after the Blazing Hellshelf quest and asks for a Deepshelf plus one of its upgrades. A Deepshelf comes from infusing a Dormant Deepshelf.[4][6]
The World Engine tier 2 chapter has its own Blazing Hellshelf quest a quest in "?", which follows the echo shard quest a quest in "?" and one untitled quest. A Deepshelf quest a quest in "?" comes right after it.[7]
Back in the gearing up chapter, the chain continues with Infused Dragon's Breath a quest in "?", then the Endshelf a quest in "?" and the Draconic Endshelf a quest in "?". After that come the God-Fused Pearl quest a quest in "?", which also asks for the Enchanting Table of the Raven, and the Library of Alexandria a quest in "?".[4]
Infusion (apothic_enchanting)

How does Apothic Enchanting work?
5 parts
In this pack, Apothic Enchanting works around three things you can see in its recipes and advancements: enchanting stats, bookshelf upgrades and Infusion. The sources I have don't describe any power, fluid or item-automation behaviour for the mod's own blocks, so this section sticks to what they do show.[8][9]
Enchanting stats
The mod's advancements show that enchanting is driven by stats: Eterna, Arcana, Quanta and a state called Quantic Stability. Arcana and Quanta are tracked as percentages, and the advancements ask for 50% and 100% of each. There is also one for enchanting at 0% Quanta.[8]
Two advancements show what a good setup looks like. One wants max Eterna and max Arcana with 0% Quanta, and another wants max stats together with Quantic Stability. Enchanting an item at level 100 has its own advancement as well.[8]
The Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability is a craftable shelf in this pack. Its name suggests it is tied to stability, but the sources don't say what it actually does.[8][9]

Recipe id: apothic_enchanting:geode_shelf
The Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability is a normal crafting recipe.
Shelf upgrade chains
Most of the shelves are built as upgrade chains. You craft or infuse one shelf, then use it as the main ingredient for the next tier. The advancements name the same steps: upgrade an Endshelf, an Infused Hellshelf or an Infused Seashelf.[8][9]
- Endshelf upgrades to Draconic Endshelf.[8][9]
- Infused Hellshelf upgrades to Blazing Hellshelf.[8][9]
- Infused Seashelf upgrades to Crystalline Seashelf.[8][9]
- Hellshelf of Sight upgrades to Hellshelf of Masterful Sight. The pack changed this recipe from the mod's version.[9]

The Infused Hellshelf and the Infused Seashelf are obtained through Infusion Enchanting, according to their advancements. The Infusion recipe type in the pack also takes a plain Hellshelf, a Seashelf, a Dormant Deepshelf and a Flimsy Ender Lead as ingredients.[8][9]
Infusion recipes
Infusion is its own recipe type in this pack. Six of its recipes use this mod's items as ingredients, and several are listed below. The Dormant Deepshelf is the clearest example: you activate it, which has its own advancement, and the Infusion recipe turns it into the Deepshelf.[8][9]
The Enchantment Library becomes the Library of Alexandria through a variant recipe type called keep_nbt_infusion.[9]
Keep Nbt Infusion (apothic_enchanting)
Recipe id: apothic_enchanting:infusion/ender_library
Ender leads follow the same pattern. The Flimsy Ender Lead is a shapeless crafting recipe that the pack changed, and infusing it gives the Ender Lead. The Occult Ender Lead also has an Infusion recipe, but the recipe dump lists no item inputs for it.[9]

Infused Dragon's Breath
Infused Dragon's Breath is the gate to the Endshelf, and the advancement for it asks you to acquire the breath and create an Endshelf. There are two ways to get it. The first is an Infusion recipe, which makes 3 per craft.[8][9]
Infusion (apothic_enchanting)
Recipe id: apothic_enchanting:infusion/infused_breath
The second route comes from Create: Enchantment Industry. A Create filling recipe turns 250 of that mod's infused dragon breath and a glass bottle into the Apothic Enchanting item. The pack changed this recipe.[9]

Other mechanics from the advancements
How do you progress through Apothic Enchanting?
5 parts
Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.20.1 guide
The pack's quest book turns Apothic Enchanting into a ladder of shelves. It all hangs off the quest for the vanilla Enchanting Table, and from there you climb from simple shelves to the end-game Library of Alexandria. The recipes below are the in-pack versions, and I flag the ones the pack changed.[4]
First steps after the enchanting table
Several quests unlock straight after a quest in "?", so you can take them in any order.[4]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Enchantment Library.[4]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Beeshelf, the Melonshelf and the Stoneshelf.[4]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability.[4]
- a quest in "?" asks for one scrapping or extraction tome plus one of the equipment tomes, such as the Tome of Boots or the Tome of the Miners.[4]

Infusion (apothic_enchanting)

Infusing a Superior Scrapping tome gives 4 Tomes of Extraction.
The pack changed the recipe for the Apothic Enchanting Table, so use this one rather than any default you remember. It accepts any item from the Apothic Enchanting tomes tag, so the tomes above feed straight into it.[6]
Hellshelf and Seashelf tier
a quest in "?" comes after the enchanting table quest and an untitled quest. It asks for the Hellshelf, the Seashelf and an Occultism spirit attuned crystal. Both shelves are crafted on top of a normal bookshelf.[4][6]

The Apothic Enchanting shelves also show up in the World Engine Tier 2 chapter. Its Blazing Hellshelf quest (a quest in "?") comes after the echo shard quest and asks for an enchanting table, a Hellshelf or Seashelf, and any one infused or better shelf. Its Deepshelf quest (a quest in "?") asks for a Deepshelf and an Echoing Deepshelf, and a game stage quest follows it.[7]
The End tier
a quest in "?" comes after the Deepshelf quest and asks for Infused Dragon's Breath. Infusing plain dragon's breath gives you 3 per craft. The pack also changed the Create: Enchantment Industry filling recipe, so you can fill a glass bottle with 250 of that mod's infused dragon breath fluid instead.[4][6]

Two quests sit after the Draconic Endshelf. a quest in "?" asks for the God-Fused Pearl and the Enchanting Table of the Raven. The pack changed that table's recipe, and it uses the God-Fused Pearl and the Apothic Enchanting Table.[4][6]

One more place to know: the Creative chapter has its own a quest in "?" quest. It asks for infused breath together with a dragon egg and a dragon head, and it comes after the Infinity Boots quest.[10]
How does Apothic Enchanting work with other mods?
4 parts
Apothic Enchanting mostly connects to other mods through one item: Infused Dragon's Breath. A few pack recipes also take shelves, the Ender Lead and the Warden Tendril. Here is what the in-pack recipes and quests show.[9]
Create and Create: Enchantment Industry
Create: Enchantment Industry can turn Infused Dragon's Breath into a fluid and back. Create's emptying gives you 250 of Infused Dragon's Breath and returns the Glass Bottle. Filling reverses it. The pack changed both recipes.[9]

The Brass Bookshelf is made by sequenced assembly, and the pack changed that recipe too. It builds on the Pearlescent Endshelf from this mod, with Create's Precision Mechanism as part of the sequence. The recipe below shows the exact in-pack inputs.[9]

The pack added the dragon heart and soul cage World Engine recipes, run as Custom Machinery machine recipes, and both need Infused Dragon's Breath. The dragon heart recipe also takes items and fluids from Draconic Evolution, Industrial Foregoing, Modular Force Field System, ProjectE and The Twilight Forest. The soul cage recipe pulls in Ender IO and Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks items. The sources do not show what either recipe produces.[9]

Where the quest book connects them
In the Gearing Up chapter, the Apothic shelf quests follow the enchanting table quest. The a quest in "?" quest asks for a Hellshelf and a Seashelf, plus an Spirit Attuned Crystal from Occultism. After the shelf quests comes a quest in "?", which follows the Deepshelf quest. The Endshelf, Draconic Endshelf and Library of Alexandria quests then come in that order.[2]
The World Engine tier 2 chapter has its own shelf quests: a quest in "?", which follows the echo shard quest, and then a quest in "?". The same chapter also includes Mekanism quests such as the Superheating Element and the Resistive Heater.[3]
Unverified The Gearing Up chapter has 78 more quests whose text the sources here do not show. Any further links between this mod and other mods in them are told in the quest book.
