What is Iron Jetpacks?

Iron Jetpacks adds fully customizable jetpacks that run on Forge Energy (FE). The mod ships with a set of default jetpacks made from vanilla and modded materials, and because they use FE, they work with a lot of other mods' chargers. The pack includes version 8.0.11.[1][2]
It's for anyone who wants to get around faster and have fun doing it. You get a built-in HUD showing your energy, engine, hover and throttle stats, plus throttle controls so you can change your flying speed on the fly.[1]
Where it fits in the pack
The quest "Iron Jetpacks" quest in the Tips and Tricks chapter is where you start. You begin with a Wood Jetpack, and it can be upgraded all the way to a Creative Jetpack. There are many versions, but they all work the same way.[3]
You can wear a Jetpack in your chestplate slot, as a Back Curio, or as a Curio Curio. Any item charger can fill it with FE. If you run out of energy, you drop.[1][3]
Flying
- Turn on your engine with V, then hold Space to fly up. You drop when you let go.[3]
- Hover has no default key. When it's on, you stay at the same altitude, go higher with Space and lower with Shift.[3]
- Throttle sets how fast you fly. By default, comma decreases it and period increases it.[3]
The late-game goal
The quest "Creative Jetpack" quest sits in Chapter 4: Creative and comes after the Fully Automated ATM Star quest. Its text pitches the Creative Jetpack as the fix for running out of energy, and warns you may need to craft the earlier jetpacks as ATM Star versions, plus more expensive items. Iron Jetpacks itself isn't part of the ATM Star path.[4]
Unverified The sources don't list the jetpack tiers between the Wood and Creative Jetpack, or whether the pack changed any default jetpack stats.
How do you get started with Iron Jetpacks?

Jetpacks are a beloved way of getting around, and in Iron Jetpacks they run on FE, so every jetpack needs power to fly. The pack's quest "Iron Jetpacks" quest tells you to start with a Wood Jetpack and upgrade it all the way to a Creative Jetpack. Every version works the same way.[1][3]

Equip and charge it
A jetpack goes in your chestplate slot or in a Curio slot, and the quest mentions the Back Curio. To charge it, use any Item Charger. If you run out of energy mid-flight, you drop.[1][3]
Learn the controls

How does Iron Jetpacks work?

Iron Jetpacks is a Forge Energy (FE) based jetpack mod. It gives you throttle controls to change your aerial movement speed on the fly, plus a built-in HUD that shows your energy, engine, hover and throttle stats. You can also equip a jetpack as a Curio.[1]
Every jetpack tier is defined by its own config file, and this pack ships its own values for them. Everything below is how this pack sets things up, not the mod's defaults.[1][7]
What the stats mean
A jetpack's tooltip lists Horizontal Speed, Vertical Acceleration, Hover Ascend Speed, Hover Descend Speed, Sprint Fuel Modifier and Sprint Vertical Multiplier. Each jetpack file also sets a capacity and a usage, which are the two energy numbers for that jetpack.[6][7]
Energy and tiers in this pack
Capacity and usage climb steeply with tier. Here is what the pack sets for the jetpacks whose files are fully visible:[7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16]
- Copper: tier 1, capacity 75,000, usage 80.[9]
- Iron: tier 2, capacity 120,000, usage 120.[15]
- Bronze: tier 2, capacity 120,000, usage 120.[8]

- Invar: tier 3, capacity 400,000, usage 300.[14]
- Electrum: tier 3, capacity 500,000, usage 310.[11]

Silver is set to a capacity of 120,000, but the rest of its file was cut off in the sources, so its tier and usage are unverified here.[17]
Flight behaviour
Speed scales with tier. Copper has a speedVertical of 0.16 and a speedSideways of 0.07, while Allthemodium has a speedVertical of 0.45 and a speedSideways of 0.18.[7][9]
Sprinting boosts speed but costs more energy. Copper's sprintSpeedMulti is 1.05 and its sprintFuelMulti is 1.2. Allthemodium's are 1.5 and 4.5. So the fastest jetpack also has the biggest sprint fuel multiplier.[7][9]
Hover is the odd one out. The hover speed value goes down as tiers go up: speedHover is 0.1 on Copper, speedHover is 0.03 on Gold, speedHover is 0.02 on Diamond, speedHover is 0.01 on Emerald and speedHover is 0.0025 on Allthemodium.[7][9][10][12][13]
The hover ascend speed goes up instead: speedHoverAscend is 0.21 on Copper and speedHoverAscend is 0.45 on Allthemodium. Hover descend speed is 0.25 on Copper, Gold, Diamond and Emerald, and speedHoverDescend is 0.35 on Allthemodium.[7][9][10][12][13]
The jetpack files also carry armor stats. armorPoints is 2 on Copper and armorPoints is 9 on Allthemodium.[7][9]
The Allthemodium file has curios set to true and disable set to false, and so does the Copper file.[7][9]

The mod has four coils: Basic Coil, Advanced Coil, Elite Coil and Ultimate Coil. It also has the Leather Strap. All of these use the mod's own recipes in this pack.[5]

How do you progress through Iron Jetpacks?

Jetpack progression in the pack is a ladder of upgrades. You start with a Wood Jetpack and work your way up to the Creative Jetpack. The in-game quest "Iron Jetpacks" quest points you at this path, and it covers the controls too.[3]
What stays the same on every tier
The quest says every version of the Jetpack works the same way. You can wear one in the Chestplate slot, the Back Curio or the Curio Curio. All of them run on FE, and any item charger will charge them. If you run out of energy mid-flight, you drop.[3]

Iron Jetpacks runs on Forge Energy (FE), so it already works with other mods' chargers and power gear. Where this pack really ties it to other mods is the top tier. The pack adds its own recipes for the creative versions of the jetpack parts, and each one needs items from other mods.[1][5]
Creative-tier recipes
Four recipes, all added by the pack with KubeJS, cover the creative Capacitor, Cell, Jetpack and Thruster. Here is which mods each one pulls from:[5]
- Creative capacitor: uses items from Allthemodium, Mekanism and Powah, including the Ultimate Induction Cell and the Reactor (Nitro).[5]

- Diamond: capacity is 5,000,000 and usage is 600.[10]
- Allthemodium: capacity is 60,000,000 and usage is 1,600.[7]
- Vibranium: capacity is 120,000,000 and usage is 2,700.[20]
- Unobtainium: capacity is 180,000,000 and usage is 4,000.[21]
Speed
Vertical speed grows with the tier:[19][21]

Tier runs from 0 on wood (tier) up to 8 on Unobtainium (tier). Armor points scale too:[19][21]
