What is Iron Jetpacks?

2 parts

Iron Jetpacks adds jetpacks that run on Forge Energy (FE), so they work with the energy systems from other mods. If you want to fly around your base or a big build, this is the mod that gives you the wings.[1]

What it does

  • Every jetpack stat and attribute is configurable, and the mod lets you add your own jetpacks.[1]
  • It comes with a set of default jetpacks made from various Vanilla and modded materials.[1]
  • Throttle controls let you change your aerial movement speed on the fly.[1]
  • A built-in HUD shows your current energy, engine, hover and throttle stats.[1]
  • Curios support means you can equip your jetpack as a Curio.[1]

In this pack

The pack ships Iron Jetpacks 8.0.5 (the 1.21.1 build). It has been part of the pack since version 0.37 or earlier.[2]

Unverified The sources here do not show a quest chapter, group or position for this mod, nor whether the ATM Star path uses it. The pack's own quest book is where that would be told, so check it in game.

How do you get started with Iron Jetpacks?

5 parts

Iron Jetpacks is a Forge Energy (FE) based jetpack mod, so everything you build here runs on the same power you already make for the rest of your machines. It ships with a set of jetpack tiers made from various vanilla and modded materials, and it gives you throttle controls, a hover mode and a built-in HUD showing your energy, engine, hover and throttle state.[1]

Your first job is the crafting components. Every jetpack tier is assembled from the mod's own parts, so make those before you go hunting for the flashy materials.[1][3]

Step 1: the Leather Strap

The Leather Strap is the cheapest piece and the one you'll want in stock first.[3]

Step 2: coils, in tier order

Coils are the tiered heart of the mod. Start with the Basic Coil while you're still on early-game metals, then work upward as better materials come in.[3]

Tip: All four coil recipes accept tagged ingredients, so any modded equivalent that carries the right tag works just as well as the vanilla item. If you're swimming in one mod's output, use it.[3]

Step 3: the other jetpack parts

Alongside coils, jetpacks use a Cell, a Capacitor and a Thruster, each of which comes in tiers that match the jetpack you're building toward.[3]

Unverified The recipes for the individual jetpack tiers and for the non-creative cells, capacitors and thrusters aren't in the sources used for this page. Check your in-game recipe viewer for the exact tier you're aiming at. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Reading the stats before you commit

Before you sink resources into a tier, hover the item and read its tooltip. Jetpack parts list Horizontal Speed, Vertical Acceleration, Hover Ascend Speed, Hover Descend Speed, Sprint Vertical Multiplier and Sprint Fuel Modifier, which is the fastest way to see whether an upgrade is actually worth the jump.[4]

The endgame tier

This pack adds its own recipes for the creative-grade parts, so the top of the progression is a pack decision rather than a mod default. They're deep endgame builds, and you'll want the creative cell, capacitor and thruster before the jetpack itself.[3]

How does Iron Jetpacks work?

5 parts

Iron Jetpacks has no machines or multiblocks. Everything it adds is gear: a family of jetpacks and their crafting components, powered by Forge Energy so they charge from whatever power system you already run. The mod is fully config-driven, and in this pack each jetpack material gets its own JSON file under config/ironjetpacks/jetpacks/ that defines its tier, energy capacity, flight speeds, armor and crafting material.[1][5][6]

Tiers and energy

Every jetpack sits at a tier set by its config file. In this pack the ladder runs from copper at tier 1, through iron at tier 2, up to allthemodium at tier 6, with the creative jetpack marked as tier -1.[5][6][7][8]

Energy capacity climbs steeply with tier. Copper holds 75,000 FE, iron, bronze and silver hold 120,000 FE each, gold and invar hold 400,000 FE, electrum 500,000 FE, diamond 5,000,000 FE, platinum 7,000,000 FE, emerald 12,500,000 FE and allthemodium 60,000,000 FE.[5][6][7][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16]

Each file also sets a usage value that scales the same way: 80 on copper, 120 on iron and bronze, 300 on gold and invar, 310 on electrum, 600 on diamond, 700 on platinum, 900 on emerald and 1,600 on allthemodium. Higher tiers draw far more power per unit of flight, so they burn through their bigger buffers rather than lasting proportionally longer.[5][6][7][9][11][12][13][14][15][16]

Unverified The sources do not state the time unit for the usage value (for example FE per tick), only the raw numbers in each config file.

Flight stats

Movement is driven by a handful of config fields per jetpack. The vertical speed and vertical acceleration values control straight-up thrust and how quickly you get there, the sideways speed handles horizontal movement, and the three hover values define the separate hover-mode behaviour. On allthemodium those sit at 0.45 vertical speed, 0.17 vertical acceleration and 0.18 sideways, against copper's 0.16, 0.11 and 0.07.[5][7]

Hover ascend and descend speeds also grow with tier: copper ascends at 0.21 and descends at 0.25, while allthemodium ascends at 0.45 and descends at 0.35. The plain hover speed value moves the other way, from 0.1 on copper and 0.08 on iron down to 0.0025 on allthemodium and 0 on the creative jetpack.[5][6][7][8]

Sprinting has its own three multipliers: one for sprint speed, one for sprint vertical speed, and a fuel multiplier that scales how much energy sprint flight costs. Copper is gentle at 1.05, 1.025 and 1.2, iron sits at 1.1, 1.05 and 2, and allthemodium at 1.5, 1.4 and 4.5, so on a top-tier pack sprint flight eats energy several times faster.[5][6][7]

The mod shows these values to you in game: tooltips cover horizontal speed, vertical acceleration, hover ascend and descend speeds, the sprint fuel modifier and the sprint vertical multiplier, and the built-in HUD shows your current energy, engine, hover and throttle state.[1][4]

Tip: Throttle controls let you dial your movement speed down on the fly, which is the easiest way to make a high-tier jetpack behave for precise building instead of launching you into the ceiling.[1]

Wearing and surviving

Every jetpack in this pack has the curios option enabled, so you can equip it as a Curio and keep your chestplate slot free. Toughness and knockback resistance are 0 across the board.[1][5][6][7][8]

  • 2 armor points on copper, gold and electrum.[7][11][13]
  • 3 armor points on iron, bronze, silver and invar.[6][9][10][12]
  • 4 armor points on diamond, platinum and emerald.[14][15][16]
  • 8 armor points on the creative jetpack and 9 on allthemodium.[5][8]

Enchantability varies by material rather than strictly by tier, so gold and allthemodium both sit at 25, electrum at 18, invar and emerald at 15, copper and platinum at 12, diamond at 10, iron and bronze at 9, and the creative jetpack at 0.[5][6][7][8][9][11][12][13][14][15][16]

Components

Jetpacks are assembled from shared parts plus per-material components. The coils come in four grades: Basic Coil, Advanced Coil, Elite Coil and Ultimate Coil, and the Leather Strap is the common base piece.[3]

Alongside the coils, each material has its own Thruster, Capacitor and Cell, driven by the same config files: every jetpack JSON names a crafting material tag that its variants are built from, such as the allthemodium ingot tag for the allthemodium set.[3][5]

The creative jetpack

The creative entry is a special case: it is flagged as creative, its capacity, usage and sprint fuel multiplier are all 0, so it never needs charging. It has the fastest numbers in the set at 0.6 vertical speed, 0.25 sideways, 0.7 hover ascend, 0.6 hover descend and a 2x sprint speed multiplier, and it carries rarity 3 with no crafting material of its own.[8]

Because it has no material to build from, this pack adds its own recipes for the creative jetpack and its three components.[3]

Watch out: Each jetpack config also has a disable flag. All of the material files shipped in this pack have it set to false, so the full tier ladder is available: if you edit these files yourself, that flag is what removes a jetpack from the game.[5][6][7][14][16]

How do you progress through Iron Jetpacks?

4 parts

Iron Jetpacks is a tiered mod: each jetpack is built from the same family of parts, and the grade of those parts is what moves you up the ladder. In this pack you craft coils, a strap, and the tiered cell, capacitor and thruster components, then combine them into the jetpack itself.[3]

Coils set the pace

The coils are the clearest progression marker, and they run in four grades: Basic Coil, Advanced Coil, Elite Coil and Ultimate Coil. All four use the mod's own recipes here, unchanged by the pack, so they follow a familiar metal-to-gem curve you can climb almost entirely in the early and mid game.[3]

Tiered parts

Alongside the coils, each tier has its own Cell, Capacitor and Thruster, which then feed into the Jetpack for that tier. Check JEI in-game for the exact tier you are working toward, since the parts share one item id and only differ by tier.[3]

The creative tier

The pack adds its own recipes for the creative-tier parts rather than leaving them uncraftable, so the creative jetpack is a genuine endgame goal here. There are four pack-added recipes: the creative capacitor, cell, thruster and the jetpack itself.[3]

Watch out: These four are pack-added and pull in top-end materials and machines from several other mods, so treat the creative jetpack as a long-term project rather than something you slot into a mid-game session.[3]

Unverified No quest in this pack's quest book covers Iron Jetpacks, so there is no guided questline for it; progression follows the crafting chain above. The exact tier names, energy capacities, flight speeds and any per-tier stat tweaks could not be confirmed from the pack data available here, so check JEI and the item tooltips in-game before committing resources to a tier. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How does Iron Jetpacks work with other mods?

1 part

Iron Jetpacks is built around Forge Energy, which is the same energy system most of the tech mods in this pack use. That is the whole integration story in a nutshell: if a machine or cable in the pack pushes FE, it can top up your jetpack, so you do not need a dedicated charging setup just for flight.[1]

The mod also supports Curios, so you can wear your jetpack in a Curio slot instead of your chestplate and keep your real armour equipped.[1]

Pack-added creative components

The biggest cross-mod link in this pack is at the very top of the progression. The pack adds its own crafting recipes for the creative-tier jetpack and its three components, and every one of them is built out of endgame items from other mods rather than anything from Iron Jetpacks itself. That means the final flight upgrade sits behind the pack's usual late-game mod chains instead of being purely a jetpack grind.[3]

Tip: Check the recipe panels above before you start farming. These four recipes pull from Allthemodium, Mekanism, Powah, Iron Furnaces, Mystical Agradditions and the pack's own star item, so it is worth lining up those production lines in parallel rather than one at a time.[3]
Watch out: These creative-tier recipes are added by the pack, not defaults from the mod, so guides and videos for other setups will not match what you see in the recipe viewer here.[3]

Unverified Beyond these four recipes, we have no confirmed in-pack recipe or quest changes tying Iron Jetpacks to other mods, and no quests in this pack involve the mod at all.

Which Iron Jetpacks config options matter?

4 parts

Iron Jetpacks keeps every jetpack in its own JSON file under config/ironjetpacks/jetpacks/, and each file holds the full stat block for that one jetpack: energy buffer, flight speeds, armour, colour and more. The mod is built to be edited this way, so you can retune the jetpacks this pack ships with or add your own.[1][5]

Energy: capacity and usage

  • capacity is the energy buffer, and this pack scales it hard across the tiers: 20,000 on the wood jetpack, 120,000 on iron, 5,000,000 on diamond and 180,000,000 on unobtainium.[6][14][17][18]
  • usage is the energy cost value for flight. It runs from 32 on wood and 64 on stone up to 1,600 on the allthemodium jetpack and 4,000 on unobtainium, so higher tiers buy their speed with a much bigger drain.[5][17][18][19]
  • sprintFuelMulti multiplies that cost while sprint-flying. It sits at 1 on wood and stone, 2 on iron, 4.5 on allthemodium and 5.5 on unobtainium, and 0 on the creative jetpack.[5][6][8][17][18][19]
Tip: If you want cheaper flight on one specific jetpack, edit the usage and sprintFuelMulti keys in that jetpack's own file: the values are per jetpack, not shared between tiers.[17][18]

Flight speeds

Armour and item stats

Switches worth knowing

  • None of the jetpacks are switched off here: disable is false on the wood, stone, iron, silver, bronze, gold, diamond, emerald, allthemodium, vibranium and unobtainium files alike.[5][6][9][10][11][14][16][17][18][19][20]
  • curios is true from wood and iron up through diamond, allthemodium and unobtainium, which is what lets you wear the jetpack in a Curios slot.[1][5][6][14][17][18]
  • creative is true on the creative jetpack, which also has capacity 0 and usage 0; the crafted tiers such as wood, iron and unobtainium have it false.[6][8][17][18]

Two more keys round it out. color is the hex tint for that jetpack, such as d8d8d8 for iron and d152e3 for unobtainium, and craftingMaterial names the item tag tied to that jetpack: the creative jetpack has it set to null.[6][8][17][18]

What changed in Iron Jetpacks between versions?

All the Mods 10 1.26 includes Iron Jetpacks 8.0.5 for Minecraft 1.21.1. The mod has been in the pack since version 0.37 or earlier. Here are the notable changes from the mod's own changelogs, oldest first.[2]

  • 8.0.0: The mod was updated to 1.21.1, and the Jetpack became a 'back' Curio, so it goes in the back Curios slot.[21]
  • 8.0.2: Fixed jetpack upgrade recipes not actually upgrading the jetpack tier.[22]
  • 8.0.3: Fixed jetpacks breaking when taking physical damage.[23]
  • 8.0.4: Fixed the jetpack Curio using double energy.[24]
  • 8.0.5: Fixed unequipped jetpacks applying with a jetpack equipped.[25]

Since the pack runs 8.0.5, you get all of these fixes. If you remember older jetpack behaviour from before 8.0.0, the move to a back Curio is the biggest change to how you wear it.[2][21][22][23][24][25]
