What is Farmer's Delight?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Farmer's Delight is a cozy expansion to farming and cooking. It gently builds on the vanilla farming loop, so you can turn familiar ingredients into a wide variety of hearty meals using a simple cooking system.[1]
The food ranges from sandwiches and salads to stews, desserts and full feasts. The mod is built so that no ingredient gets left behind in your kitchen.[1]
What else it adds
- A way to improve the soil your crops grow in.[1]
- New tools and weapons for hunting and gathering.[1]
- Decorations for your builds, plus many other blocks and items to help along the way.[1]
Who it is for
If you like a relaxed side of modded Minecraft, with food and farming that feel like part of your base, this mod is for you. It is a good fit for anyone who wants cooking to be more than eating raw crops and bread.[1]
In this pack
The pack ships Farmer's Delight 1.3.3, built for Minecraft 1.21.1. The mod has been in the pack since version 2.25 or earlier.[2]
How do you get started with Farmer's Delight?
5 parts
The best way to learn Farmer's Delight is to follow its advancements. They cover most of the basic concepts. Pick up any item, then press L (the default key) to open the Advancements screen and see what to do next.[1]
The order below follows those advancements: make a knife, collect Straw, set up a Cutting Board, find the new wild crops, and then start cooking.[3]
Step 1: Craft a knife
Your first real tool is a knife. It's a light melee weapon with fast swings and gentle damage, but its main job is gathering. With a knife you can harvest Straw from grasses, and animals always drop their secondary drops. You also need something lighter than a sword to cut Ham from Pigs or Hoglins.[3]
The cheapest knife, perfect for day one.
Once you have some iron, you can upgrade to the Iron Knife.[4]

Step 2: Collect Straw and make Canvas
Harvest grass, wheat or rice with your knife to collect Straw. Straw is a dry plant fiber used in crafting. One of its first uses is Canvas.[3][4]
Step 3: Set up a Cutting Board
The Cutting Board lets you break an item down. Hold a tool in your hand and use the board.[3]

Step 4: Find the wild crops
The mod's crops grow wild in many climates, and you can sometimes find them in chests too. Here's where to look:[3]
- Cabbage and beetroot grow wild on beach coasts.[3]
- Carrots and onions grow in temperate lands, such as plains and forests.[3]
- Potatoes grow in cold lands, such as mountains and taigas.[3]
- Tomatoes grow in arid lands, such as savannas and deserts. Hang some rope above a tomato crop to make it grow taller.[3]
- Rice grows in the ponds of wet lands, such as swamps and jungles. Plant the grains in a shallow water puddle.[3]
Step 5: Start cooking
Place a Campfire to cook some food, then build a Cooking Pot and put it down to start preparing meals.[3]

Meals are worth the effort because of their effects. Warm bowl meals give Comfort, which provides natural regeneration no matter how hungry you are. Plated meals give Nourishment, which prevents hunger loss, except when saturation is used to heal damage.[3]
How does Farmer's Delight work?
7 parts
Farmer's Delight gently expands farming and cooking. It uses a simple cooking system built around a few familiar ingredients, and it adds ways to improve the soil your crops grow in, new tools for hunting and gathering, and plenty of handy blocks. It has no big machines or multiblocks. Its core mechanics are a handful of workstations and some farming tricks, and this section walks you through each one.[1]
The Cooking Pot
The Cooking Pot is where most meals come from: put one down and start preparing food. When a pot holds a finished dish, its tooltip shows how many servings it holds and what they are.[3]

The recipe book is turned on for the Cooking Pot's interface in this pack (recipe_book.enableRecipeBookCookingPot), so you can look up pot recipes without leaving the GUI.[5]
Comfort, Nourishment and Feasts
Warm bowl meals give you Comfort. Comfort provides natural regeneration no matter how hungry you are, so you keep healing steadily.[3]
Plated meals give you Nourishment. Nourishment prevents hunger loss for a while, except when your saturation is used to heal damage.[3]
Some meals are big enough to place down as a block and share with friends. The mod calls these feasts.[3]
In this pack the visual hints are all turned on. Your health bar gets a silver sheen while you have Comfort (client.comfortHealthOverlay). Your hunger bar gets a gilded overlay while you have Nourishment (client.nourishmentHungerOverlay). Meal and drink tooltips show which effects they give (client.foodEffectTooltip).[6]
Vanilla soups get some of the same treatment. With overrides.stack_size.enableStackableSoupItems on, the soups in overrides.stack_size.soupItemList (mushroom stew, beetroot soup and rabbit stew) stack to 16, like the mod's own meals. overrides.vanillaSoupExtraEffects gives vanilla soups and stews extra effects, and overrides.rabbitStewBuff improves Rabbit Stew's food stats. All three settings are enabled in this pack.[5]
The Cutting Board and the Knife
To break down an item, use the Cutting Board with a tool in your hand.[3]

Recipe id: farmersdelight:cutting_board
Fortune improves your Cutting Board chances. settings.cuttingBoardFortuneBonus sets the bonus each Fortune level adds, and this pack keeps the mod default of 0.1.[5]
The Knife is a lightweight melee weapon with fast swings and gentle damage, and it is also a gathering tool. Use it on grass, wheat or rice to collect Straw. It guarantees secondary drops from animals, and it lets you take Ham from Pigs and Hoglins.[3]
Straw is a dry plant fiber used in crafting. For example, it is what you turn into Canvas.[3][4]
The Skillet
The Skillet lets you cook on the go. Stand near a heat source and hold food in your other hand. You can also sneak to place the Skillet down as a block.[3]
Organic Compost, Rich Soil and Mushroom Colonies
Once you place Organic Compost down, it slowly decays into Rich Soil, an upgrade for your farms. It composts faster with sun, water and mushrooms. Its recipe viewer page confirms that adjacent water and adjacent activators both speed it up.[3]
Rich Soil can boost a plant's growth on each random tick. How often that works is set by settings.richSoilBoostChance, which this pack keeps at the mod default of 0.2.[5]
Mushroom Colonies need very rich soil to grow, and you harvest them by shearing a fully mature colony. Red and brown colonies also generate naturally on mushroom fields. This pack keeps both world.red_mushroom_colonies.chance and world.brown_mushroom_colonies.chance at the default of 15, where a smaller value means more frequent clusters.[3][5]
Rice, Tomatoes and Rope
Plant grains of Rice in a shallow water puddle.[3]
Tomatoes can grow taller when you hang rope above the crop. In this pack, farming.enableTomatoVineClimbingTaggedRopes lets tomato vines climb any rope in the mod's ropes tag. If you mine a vine by hand, it leaves behind the rope set in farming.defaultTomatoVineRope, which is Farmer's Delight's own rope.[3][5]
Rope reeling is enabled in this pack (settings.enableRopeReeling). Sneak-use a rope with an empty hand to reel it back in, from the bottom to the top.[5]
Crop Crates
Farmer's Delight adds 3x3 storage crates for crops. settings.enableVanillaCropCrates is on in this pack, so the crates for vanilla crops are craftable too. Crates craft back into their crop, as the Cabbage Crate does.[4][5]
Unverified The available sources don't say whether the Cooking Pot needs a heat source underneath it, or whether hoppers and item pipes can insert into or extract from it. Test this in a creative world before you build an automated kitchen around it.
How do you progress through Farmer's Delight?
5 parts
The easiest way to plan your Farmer's Delight progression in this pack is to follow its crafting recipes. Start with a knife and a couple of kitchen workstations, then build up straw and canvas materials, and finally work toward the bigger multi-step meals. Every recipe card below shows the exact in-pack version, so you can trust it over older guides.[4]
Knife tiers
Knives come in four material tiers: the Flint Knife, the Iron Knife, the Golden Knife and the Diamond Knife. The flint and iron versions use the mod's own recipes. This pack has changed the golden and diamond recipes.[4]
The cheapest knife tier.

Kitchen workstations
Your two core kitchen blocks are the Cutting Board and the Cooking Pot. Both use the mod's standard recipes in this pack. The Cutting Board is the cheaper of the two, so it's a good first craft.[4]

Straw, canvas and compost
Straw is one of the mod's key materials. It crafts into Canvas, and Canvas is what you need for the farmersdelight:basket, the Canvas Rug, the Canvas Sign and the Hanging Canvas Sign. You can dye both sign types into any colour, and a Canvas Rug crafts back into Canvas if you change your mind.[4]
Straw also goes into Organic Compost. There are two recipes: one uses Tree Bark and the other uses rotten flesh, so you can craft whichever one you have materials for.[4]

Crops and storage
Once your farm is running, crates keep your crops compact. You can craft the Cabbage Crate and Onion Crate back into loose Cabbage and Onion. There are also the Carrot Crate, Potato Crate and Beetroot Crate. If you end up with loose Cabbage Leaf, you can craft them back into a whole Cabbage.[4]
Working up to meals
- Start with the simple crafted foods, such as the Honey Cookie, Melon Juice, Egg Sandwich or Nether Salad.[4]
- Next, craft a Pie Crust, which leads into the Apple Pie and Chocolate Pie. You can also put slices back together into a full pie.[4]
- Then get some Cooked Rice. It's part of the Cod Roll, the Kelp Roll and the Honey Glazed Ham.[4]
- Finally, make a Beef Patty for the Hamburger. The Honey Glazed Ham also needs Smoked Ham, so it sits near the end of the chain.[4]

Unverified The available sources don't confirm how the knife tiers differ in durability or damage, or which foods are made in the Cooking Pot or on the Cutting Board instead of a crafting table.
How does Farmer's Delight work with other mods?
2 parts
Farmer's Delight doesn't sit on its own in this pack. A handful of in-pack recipes link it with other mods. Most of them are extra cutting recipes that let you process modded logs, and one is a crafting recipe from another mod that uses a Farmer's Delight block.[4]
Cutting modded logs
Farmer's Delight cutting recipes cover some logs from other mods. Each one gives you the stripped version of the block plus Tree Bark, so you get bark from modded wood the same way you would from other logs.[4]
- Echo Log turns into Stripped Echo Log and Tree Bark.[4]
- Echo Wood turns into Stripped Echo Wood and Tree Bark.[4]
- Netherwood turns into Stripped Netherwood Log and Tree Bark.[4]

A Planter made with Rich Soil
The connection also works in the other direction. The pack has a shaped crafting integration recipe for the Planter that uses Farmer's Delight's Rich Soil. If you already make Rich Soil for your farm, you can also use it for this decorative-looking pot. Check the recipe below for the exact layout.[4]
Unverified Whether the Planter crafted this way behaves any differently from a normal Planter, for example by keeping Rich Soil's effects on crops, can't be confirmed from the available sources.
Which Farmer's Delight config options matter?
5 parts
Farmer's Delight splits its settings into two files: a client file for the HUD and tooltip touches, and a common file for gameplay, worldgen and vanilla overrides. Here's what this pack actually sets, so you know what to expect before you start tweaking.[5][6]
Client: overlays and tooltips
- client.foodEffectTooltip is on, so meal and drink tooltips tell you which effects they grant.[6]
- client.nourishmentHungerOverlay is on, giving your hunger bar a gilded overlay while you have Nourishment.[6]
- client.comfortHealthOverlay is on, giving your health bar a silver sheen while you have Comfort.[6]
These three are client-side only, so you can turn any of them off for yourself without touching a server or breaking anything for other players.[6]
Vanilla overrides you'll notice
- overrides.vanillaSoupExtraEffects is on, so vanilla soups and stews grant extra effects like the mod's own meals.[5]
- overrides.rabbitStewBuff is on, giving Rabbit Stew improved food stats.[5]
- overrides.stack_size.enableStackableSoupItems is on, making the bowl foods in overrides.stack_size.soupItemList stack to 16. That list is the vanilla set: Mushroom Stew, Beetroot Soup and Rabbit Stew.[5]
- overrides.dispenserUsesToolsOnCuttingBoard is on, so a dispenser facing a Cutting Board can operate it for you, handy for automation.[5]
Gameplay settings
- settings.richSoilBoostChance is 0.2, matching the mod default: that's the chance per random tick for Rich Soil to boost a plant's growth. Setting it to 0.0 disables the boost entirely.[5]
- settings.cuttingBoardFortuneBonus is 0.1, also the mod default: each level of Fortune adds that much bonus to Cutting Board chances, and 0.0 turns it off.[5]
- settings.enableVanillaCropCrates is on, so the 3x3 crates for vanilla crops are craftable.[5]
- recipe_book.enableRecipeBookCookingPot is on, so the Cooking Pot keeps its recipe book button.[5]
- settings.enableRopeReeling is on, letting you sneak-use with an empty hand to reel rope back up from the bottom.[5]
Trading and worldgen
- settings.farmersBuyFDCrops is on, so Novice and Apprentice Farmers buy the mod's crops. The config notes this may reduce the chance of other trades appearing.[5]
- settings.wanderingTraderSellsFDItems is on, adding crop seeds and onions to the Wandering Trader's stock.[5]
- world.generateFDChestLoot is on, sprinkling ropes, seeds, knives and meals into chest loot across the world.[5]
- Village generation is fully on: world.genFDCropsOnVillageFarms plants the mod's crops in village farms, and world.genVillageCompostHeaps adds Compost Heaps across village biomes.[5]
Wild crop patches each have their own chance value, where a smaller number means more frequent generation. The pack keeps the mod defaults: 20 for wild rice, 30 for wild cabbages and wild beetroots, 100 for wild tomatoes and wild potatoes, and 120 for wild carrots and wild onions. Mushroom colonies on mushroom fields are enabled at a chance of 15 for both brown and red.[5]
Ropes and tomato vines
farming.enableTomatoVineClimbingTaggedRopes is on, so tomato vines can climb any rope tagged as a Farmer's Delight rope. Be aware that this converts those blocks into the rope set by farming.defaultTomatoVineRope, which the pack leaves as the mod's own Rope, so a fancy modded rope may come back as a plain one when mined by hand.[5]
What changed in Farmer's Delight between versions?
3 parts
All the Mods 10 2.12 ships Farmer's Delight 1.2.6. The mod has been in the pack since All the Mods 10 0.32 or earlier. Below are the notable changes from the mod's own changelogs for 1.2.4 up to the version you're playing, newest first.[7][8][9]
1.2.6 (the version in this pack)
- Farmer's Delight crops now generate in village farms. Cabbage, Tomato and Onion randomly replace Wheat or Potato crops, and which crops show up varies between arid, temperate and cold biomes.[10]
- Rice is left out of village farms, because it needs a custom structure and Villagers can't farm it yet.[10]
- Added a cutting recipe for Torchflower.[10]
- Fixed the Skillet's default block state having waterlogged set to true, and fixed tomatoes not having a map color.[10]
- Fixes for 1.21: Cutting Board recipes no longer crash with recipe optimization mods, the Anvil can no longer add Sweeping Edge to knives and skillets, and Skillets placed via commands now keep their item data, which avoids crashes and inconsistencies.[10]
1.2.5
Two details in the 1.2.5 changelog come with a time limit. Rice is currently excluded from farmer villager farming, and tomatoes were only temporarily removed from the crops tag (more on that below). The other entries are plain changes in 1.2.5.[11]
- Farmer Villagers can now plant, harvest and collect drops from Cabbage, Tomato and Onion. Rice is currently excluded, as the farmer AI couldn't handle it without extensive changes.[11]
- In 1.2.5, Knives became effective at mining Pumpkins (normal and carved) and Melons. Mining a Pumpkin with a knife gives 4 Pumpkin Slices instead of a whole unit, while Carved Pumpkins are unaffected.[11]
- In 1.2.5, Skillets became waterloggable, but they can't cook underwater, either handheld or as a block.[11]
- 1.2.5 added the tag farmersdelight:campfire_signal_smoke. Blocks in it make Campfires emit signal smoke, like the Hay Bale does.[11]
- 1.2.5 added Canvas Signs to the vanilla signs and hanging_signs item tags, and some crafting recipes are now grouped properly in the Crafting Table's recipe book.[11]
- 1.2.5 fixed meal duplication when using containers against a Cooking Pot block, then closing and reloading the world.[11]
- Fixes for 1.21 in 1.2.5: Kelp Roll (whole) had wrong food stats, Skillets couldn't be enchanted in an anvil or lose durability when attacking mobs, Knives couldn't receive Knockback and Looting, and Cutting Boards couldn't handle two valid tools for the same input.[11]
Unverified The changelogs given here don't say whether tomatoes were put back into the crops tag in 1.2.6.
1.2.4a and 1.2.4
- 1.2.4a (1.21) fixed a crash when placing the Mangrove Cabinet, Canvas Signs or Hanging Canvas Signs, and a sporadic crash caused by item override registration. It also fixed the Cooking Pot meal duplication bug.[8]
- 1.2.4 (1.21) moved all forge tags to the c namespace. Many now live in the c:foods/ subgroup, except c:crops/grain, since those items are inedible.[9]
- Many tags with specific subgrouping were sunsetted. For example, forge:vegetables/tomato was phased out in favor of c:foods/tomato, though tomatoes are still in c:foods/vegetables.[9]
- Removed farmersdelight:wolf_prey in favor of c:foods/raw_meat, and added c:foods/safe_raw_fish, a version of c:foods/raw_fish that doesn't include Pufferfish.[9]
